“I came looking into this complex for another restaurant but saw theirs at the corner when I turned in; decided to go get a menu because I’m in the area a lot, and they didn’t have any but I still took a picture of the lunch special for later when I could afford a fresh plate. The smell of the food was too good so I went for it, and I’m happy I did because the food was fresh & fall off the bone, not stingy at all with the portions. So glad I decided to go here, definitely will be back“

After attending carnival 2022 and being disappointed with the food…We were on the hunt for some great Jamaican food to settle our tummies. After reading reviews all the local Islanders stated this was the spot. And boy were they on point! Customer service was absolutely amazing and these were the best oxtails I have ever had and that’s a high bar to reach! We also got fried chicken and baby they had the graces ketchup!!!! If you know you know! The jerk chicken was amazing as well. The main thing that I really loved about this food was it was truly authentic no water down flavor and the spice was on point! “I walked in and wanted to order an oxtail quesadilla but the cashier said they were out. It was 5:30p. I ordered an oxtail and mac and cheese combo instead with a rum punch. From the time printed on my receipt, until the time the food came to my table, it was exactly 30 minutes. There weren't but two people ahead of me. It's like they make the food one order at a time which isn't efficient. Also, during my wait, no one came and gave me an update nor did I receive my drink until I went up and asked for it. The food is served in to-go containers even if you order in and though I tipped in advanced when I paid, no one came to clear my table off. I cleared the table myself. They did say bye and tell me to have a great weekend. The music is a vibe!!! I love the Caribbean culture and during my time in the restaurant, I knew every song that came on. The food is PERFECT. Flavor and portion and temperature are all GREAT but it takes entirely too long and the service needs to improve. I plan to return to try more menu items.“

I had the curry chicken roti and the portion did not disappoint I heard they do it bigger in Georgia and they lived up to the hype. The food was seasoned so good it took me 2 years to find a place that has not watered down their recipes and this place taste exactly like the vendors from eastern pkwy during the Labor Day parade. They all were friendly and welcoming. I love the seating area it has a large TV and greenery on the wall along with Bob Marley portraits. They also make authentic Jamaican drinks like Irish moss. “A successful live music, cigar, and wine night. Cozy lil' hidden gem in sandy springs. The band was amazing and the sound level was perfect. It's a small bar though so you may end up standing if other tables are not willing to share a booth or table. It was only ONE waitress at the time on a Saturday night. Turkey burger sliders are so darn good and only enough for one person. Decent ventilation system,too.“

“Found this lounge through a Google search and they did not disappoint. Visited on a Saturday evening around 9/9:30pm and there was a live DJ. It wasn't crowded at all, which is what I like! Not sure if it was just an off night or if that is the norm. We sat at the bar and had wings and margaritas. Both food and drinks came out pretty quickly. Will definitely revisit. Great music! Get there early bc it seems like the do run out of the good stuff.We wanted the ropa vieja and they ran out so we opted for the lechón which was very good. We also wanted for desert the guava and cheese pastries - but they ran out too. So get there early is my recommendation. But the tres leches was very good - but also very sweet. We also got mango and guava fresh made juices and it was worth it!“

“Growing up my parents had this saying, “Food so good, makes you wanna slap somebody.” This food had me wanting to slap someone. I had a combo plate with goat, oxtail, Mac & cheese (this almost left me in tears), rice & peas and plantains. Everything and I mean everything was incredible. Generous portions, I have enough for a whole second meal tomorrow. The oxtail was meaty and flavorful. The goat was tender and juicy. Super impressed with the flavor and seasoning. Whoever is back there cooking isn’t just doing a job, they’re passionate about food. The lady at the window was very kind and friendly. It was almost their closing time and I’m sure they were tired after working hours all day. But you couldn’t tell with how much they put into the food and the friendly greeting. The food isn’t cheap but keep in mind, this isn’t McDonalds. Plus, their portions are huge and one plate could feed two people or be leftovers. So it’s actually a very good value. Love this place and will definitely be back.Vegetarian options: They have fish which some vegetarians are comfortable with. They have vegetarian patties (spinach & cheese) plus many veterinary sides.Parking: Easy to park. It’s in a shopping plaza with ample parking.“

And it was well worth the wait We ordered the oxtail (well seasoned and cooked to perfection) with rice and peas (the peas were this yummy looking pea that resembled a black eye pea). The plantains were delicious. Can't speak on the cabbage because I don't like cabbage and cabbage doesn't like me !!! The owner/chef named Cherlynn (hopefully that's how she spells her name) was friendly and informative. She told us her food is organic and she gets her meats from a farm in Tennessee (aka farm to table)!! We wanted to try the red snapper, however it's cooked to order (from cleaning to seasoning and preparation)....so remember to call ahead. As for the meat patties they were gone also....so I'll call ahead the next time I return (again and again as long as she chooses to be here)!!! “I've been going to Contreju since about 2016. I don't know what the hell these people with these low reviews are talking about. This food is outstanding! I don't know what's wrong with these people's pallets. They obviously don't know good food when they taste it. This food has so much flavor. If I could eat it every day, I would. And the owner is so sweet. She greets me every time I come, and ask me how I'm doing. I would say the people that are saying they are rude, have no respect for their elders. I stand by Contreju. I love you guys. Keep doing what you're doing, and don't change a thing. Your food is amazing!“
