“The good: Shrimp roll and shrimp melt were excellent! Service was friendly and efficient. Price was good for the island and the tomato bisque was yummy. The bad: The kitchen needs to toast the buns on the burgers and pulled pork because the pickled veggies make the bun soggy. Half our waffle fries were perfection and the other half were over cooked way too much. The ugly: The pulled pork was excessively fatty. If you eat outside the food is good and the flies know it, so prepare for their arrival. There was literally not a single fly until our food hit the table, then they came to join us for lunch.“
“During my recent visit to Zippy's Kaneohe, I embarked on a culinary journey that showcased the restaurant's diverse menu and attentive service. Eager to experience the flavors of the Hawaiian cuisine, I initially planned to indulge in a classic breakfast featuring waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, accompanied by a steaming cup of hot chocolate. However, I was informed that both the hot chocolate and strawberries with whipped cream were unavailable at the time. Though initially disappointed, the accommodating staff quickly provided alternative breakfast options and suggested some enticing lunch specials.Opting for a change of plans, I decided to explore the lunch offerings instead. I settled on a clubhouse sandwich paired with fries and Portuguese soup. This hearty combination promised to satisfy my appetite and provide a taste of the local flavors. As I waited for my meal, I couldn't help but admire the inviting ambiance of Zippy's Kaneohe. The restaurant exuded a cozy vibe, with comfortable seating arrangements and tasteful decor. The staff continued to impress with their attentive service, ensuring that I felt welcomed and valued as a customer. When my order arrived, I was delighted by the presentation and aroma of the food. The clubhouse sandwich was a towering masterpiece, featuring layers of roasted turkey, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, juicy tomato, and creamy mayonnaise, all sandwiched between slices of toasted bread. The accompanying fries were golden and crispy, perfectly complementing the savory flavors of the sandwich. The Portuguese soup, a local favorite known for its rich and flavorful broth, exceeded my expectations. Packed with tender chunks of meat, hearty vegetables, and fragrant spices, it was a comforting delight that warmed both body and soul. With each bite, I savored the harmonious blend of textures and flavors, from the crunchy bacon to the tender turkey and the hearty broth of the soup. The meal was a true celebration of Hawaiian cuisine, showcasing the diverse culinary influences that make it so unique.Throughout the dining experience, the exemplary service continued to shine. The staff were attentive and accommodating, ensuring that my meal was enjoyable from start to finish. Despite the initial hiccup with the unavailable breakfast items, Zippy's Kaneohe proved to be a culinary gem, offering delicious food and top-notch service that left a lasting impression. In conclusion, my experience at Zippy's Kaneohe was a memorable one. From the warm ambiance to the delectable food and attentive service, it was a true delight for the senses. Whether you're craving a classic breakfast or a flavorful lunch, Zippy's Kaneohe is sure to deliver a dining experience that exceeds expectations. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to indulge in the flavors of Hawaii.“
“Incredible food and friendly service. I cannot impress thru words how awesome Chelsea is. She went thru the entire menu and spoke on any dish I asked about. This is our second time as the first time was take out and the food was incredible. I dined in for breakfast and the food was incredible again. We moved here from Europe a few years ago and really appreciate the healthy style of cooking they do versus the normal sugar / salt / fat / fried food. All I have to say is come and just come and try it. It is great.Finding Sweet Corner Cafe is a little tricker. It is down the inclined drive and in the basement of the building off the street. There is a vertical banner with a Lucky Cat at the top of the drive by the street. I just parked on the street and walked down the incline to the entrance on the side of the building. There was a cat (Biggie) hanging out by the door and Sweet Corner Cafe is just down the hall with a sign above the door.“
“We recently visited from Memphis, TN. We were looking for a place to eat and stumbled upon this gem. The food was delicious. Everything. Our host Andrea was amazing. My favorites were the brisket, Mexican corn, and the brussel sprouts. I don't normally care for those, but I would eat theirs anytime. Definitely will return on my next visit. Although parking was a challenge but the staff were helpful in getting us a spot.“
“Got two mixed plates so got to try the smoked meat, smoked chicken, hamburger steak, and chili. All the smoked items were definitely the highlight. I didn't care much for the chili and the hamburger steak. The chilis flavors were not the best and I definitely prefer brown gravy for my hamburger steak. I'd come back again but will definitely just get more smoked items - if it's in the name of the restaurant, stick to those items.“
“Excellent meal and atmosphere. We had the Prix Fixe which includes edamame, farmer’s salad, fried rice, kalibriert and pork chops. Was more than enough for 4 adults. All the dishes were fantastic. Highly recommend making a reservation. The place was packed the whole time we were there from 6:30 pm.Parking: Use the valet parking under the building for $7. Other parking is hard to find and just as expensive. Cash only.“
“Definitely one of our goto places to have some, what I call, asian street food. Every time we dine in, we can literally feel the spirit of Colin and Anthony Bourdain. It’s as if they are dining with us and enjoying the legacy classics. Amazing fresh food and cool ambiance.Go during the weekdays as the weekends are jammed packed.“
“I have been wanting to try this place for a while. There is parking in front but limited. We decided to park in the garage, which wasn't pricey. We went between 1 to 2, and it wasn't busy. We ordered the grilled cheese sandwich for the kids and waffle fries. Also ordered the Papa Smokes Burger, a Buttah Big Boi Burger, thai milk tea, and brown sugar ube milk.I wasn't too impressed with the drinks. Was a bit water down. But we did like the food. The waffle fries were crunchy and had nice seasoning to it. The grilled cheese was glooey and the kids loved that. The japanese milk bread used with the grilled cheese was good. My kids ate it, so I was happy, lol. I enjoyed the papa smokes burger. The bun was soft and the brisket and burger patties were cooked great. My bf really enjoyed the big boi burger. It is a big burger with three patties and he really enjoyed it. Overall, we enjoyed the food and would go back again. Sorry, pictures/videos aren't good. lol we were hungry.“
“Been meaning to try Guava Smoked. The restaurant itself is small. Drive-inn vibes with a few tables in the small space at Downtown Pearlridge. The person at the counter seemed like they were the owner and were very friendly. Ordered a mix plate with boneless chicken thighs and pork with mac salad and smoked fried rice. Also ordered the smoked salmon belly bowl. Prices were very reasonable. Our order came out quickly, and served to our table. The meat was very tender and tasty. Great smoke flavor but not overpowering. The fried rice was really really good, and the amount of meat chunks included in the rice was almost a 3rd choice. Smoked salmon belly was also really good. Mac salad was ok on its own but worked well mixed in with bites of meat/rice. Would definitely come back here. I've been missing out. My only wish is they had actual bbq sauce too instead of sambal and chili water.“
“Chicken and waffles was generously portioned with a good crisp. However it's labeled "spicy" somewhere because they throw in a few peppers which is a little misleading. The chilli locomoco was good, but would've probably opted for the pork belly. My son enjoyed the cereal pancakes with cereal milk syrup.. reminds me of momofuku milk cereal / cookies. Overall solid food, great staff and atmosphere.“
“Great food, great service, great ambiance! Ordered the shrimp with spicy garlic and chicken with teriyaki sauce with all sides. Service was super fast, and the staff was extremely nice and made great conversation and recommendations on what to order. Located inside a hotel on their patio with the pool and jacuzzi. Since we had it for dinner, it was dark outside, and there were lights that were hanging on the patio that made the ambiance that much cozier. Great experience and highly recommend this location for some yummy Hawaiin bbq!“
“My wife and I ended up at Smith and King's because the restaurant we originally planned to go to was closed. To our pleasant surprise, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Smith and King's. The food was exceptional, and the service was top-notch. We will definitely be back for the weekend brunch.“
“We're tourists who were just looking for a place that wasn't touristy to watch a game. This was perfect! Prices are reasonable, and service was good. Parking lot is small, but there weren't many people (midafternoon on a Sunday) so it wasn't an issue. Kalua pork nachos were delicious!“
“This review is long overdue. If our family is ever in the mood for generous portions of our favorite comfort foods, at a very reasonable price, our Hawaii Kai L&L is our 'Go To' place. We've been going to them for years, and I'm still always amazed at how even their mini takeout packages are literally packed with our selections (and I'm not talking about the rice; I'm talking about the entree). If you've ever been there, you might be wondering why I even gave them 5 stars for atmosphere, when it's not all that unique or special. It's because the tables, seats and floors are always clean, there are no unpleasant odors, and they're right on the marina. As for service, they're always accommodating of my requests to substitute green salad for rice, even though I'm violating my low carb diet with a scoop of their delicious mac salad. They're always pleasant and polite. The food is always ready when we arrive for our takeout orders, and utensils and napkins are always present in the bag. Best of all, we each have our favorite entrees, and they're consistently prepared in the same delicious manner. I hope they'll never leave Hawaii Kai, as I don't know what our family would do.“
“So I've always kept looking at trying this place out and I finally took the time to give the place a try with a good friend of mine who is like a sister. The lady at the front register was super nice while taking our orders, and after taking our order she asked if we would like to sit at their table seating which had a nice atmosphere because you have the Japanese curtains behind the chairs that seclude you from the rest of the hustle bustle behind you in the Lahaina food court and they were playing slow paced disney music (without lyrics/voices) and you could watch through the glass as the chefs get to work on your meal and others as you eat and enjoy your time there while having discussions and conversations with your own friends and/or family. Over all, it's a nice Ramen shop to enjoy a good meal and it was a wonderful experience. ^_^“
“When visiting from the U.S. Mainland, I usually visit this Zippy's location because it's close & convenient to where my relatives live. Service is usually fast & efficient, the restaurant is reasonably clean, and the menu selection and quality are excellent. As a creature of habit, I usually order the Korean Fried Chicken plate ($17.65, Sept. 2023). A somewhat healthier version is the Korean Chicken Salad ($16.45). And we usually check out the bakery selection (Napoleon's Bakery) for something sweet to take home.“
“We normally go to Kapahulu Zippys but on this particular saturday evening after 9pm it was packed with tourist, 6 of them in front of us and they were not familiar with the menu, one cashier in training...and one hungry customer that could not wait for 6 tourist to order. Not sure why but Zippys is seeing a influx of tourist. So we left and headed up to 6th ave Zippys with NO one in line and empty...wonderful service and food was fast. I'm normally okay with having zippys but this time I had to do a review for this saturday night dinner. Upon arriving at Kaimuki location parking lot was empty (sweet), no one in line, Cashier was on it...we ordered the special korean tofu and zip pack (for those familiar with zippys the portions have been decreasing in recent years, well not tonight), the zip pac had a bumbucha chicken and nice size portions, the korean tofu was really really good, did side order of mac salad which seemed larger than on the plate lunch. We also did napples which we waited 7 mins for (yes they made to order), that didn't make it home, had to eat it warm and fresh from the oven. Next stop zippys? Yes yes yes and kaimuki from now on. There was a point where kaimuki was always out of items especially the bakery but after seeing so many tourist at kapahulu, we are going back to Kaimuki and pray and hope they not sold out when we get there for our late dinners.“
“They accommodated our party of 12 last minute although short staffed. Everyone enjoyed their dinner.Returning home for the holiday from SF and Chicago, we would like to say...Aloha and Mahalo nui loa, for your excellent service and ono food.Hau'oli La Ho'omaikai Big City Diner!“
“The food was great and served hot. I ordered the Zip Pac Deluxe. My meal consisted of fried chicken, fish, teriyaki beef and spam over a bed of rice. This also comes with macaroni salad and chili. If you're a couple with one light eater, this will suffice you. Or get two and take some home for later.“
“In town for business and the security guard told us to eat lunch at Zippy's and have the Zip Pack. Not only did we have the Zip Pack, we had the Deluxe. In my mind, to have a plate with all of these very different things makes little sense - but it works. Especially when you are hungry! It's about a pound of rice, lol, a piece of fried fish, beef teriyaki, fried SPAM and a deep fried chicken thigh! Macaroni salad is on the same plate and the DELUXE version will add a huge scoop of chili on the rice. While none of these will be anywhere close to the best you've ever had - completing the lunch will give you a story to tell for the rest of your life! I'm guessing it's 2500 calories and I didn't want to eat for the rest of the day. Our server was hilarious and had fun with us. Decor is like a "mid" diner. The locals back at our office LOVE this place and were glad we stopped in.“
“We go here every month usually on a weekend afternoon. My order came out cold. Husband’s order was hot. Everything was as anticipatedParking: There is a large parking lot around the shopping center as well as a two story parking structure.“
“The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the koren chicken, chili, mac salad, fried chicken ?...oxtail soup was bland, fried noodles was salty and the zip pac was not my thing ?....it took a while to get our food...maybe because we were a family of 4.Next time we will order separately.“
“Breakfast stop here since it was the closest Zippy's to our hotel. Service was good and the food was good. Only issue was the restaurant was a bit dirty. Corners of the seats being dusty and tables had small bits of trash here and there. I'm not expecting it to be immaculate but it could have been a bit cleaner being that it did just open at the time we had arrived. No issues with the food. It was good and we all enjoyed it. Zippy's is always a convenient stop for quick food and our food came out quick.“
“One thing is for sure, whenever you step into a Zippy's restaurant, no matter which location you go to, I can pretty much guarantee you'll get consistent "local style" comfort grindages! My latest adventures to Zippy's were in Kalihi, as I took my coworker here. I swar, my coworker is Zippy's "numba #1" FAN, and I would be surprised if there was a picture of him if there ever was a "Zippy's hall of fame", for loyal customers! Lol! The Kalihi location of Zippy's is an enclosed take out joint. No table service, you order your food at the ordering counter, when your food is ready, they will call your number. You pick up your food order at the counter, then you look for a place to sit & eat within the restaurant (if you want to eat it right away). I have a lot of favorites at Zippy's, but what really stands out for me is the - Zip Pack, Surf Pack, Chili (regular or vegetarian), Turkey Neck Soup, Oxtail Soup, & da Frrrrrrried Chicken! For dessert, it's the Apple Napples, & of course da Strawberry Cream Cheese Square! Yum!!! Over the years, Zippy's food has gone up quite a bit, but like most eateries, I guess raising prices is needed in order to survive. This takeout location is clean, and free parking is available in the back of the restaurant. Support local, and ya can't go wrong with local style comfort food!“
“there were only 2 server when we came so the seating took a long time. in fairness, the server has informed us that there will be a wait though. it might be because it was almost 10pm that is why the crews are limited and most of the tables need to be cleared.Kid-friendliness: the food is kid friendly but not the price“
“Good, local-style food. They serve Breakfast all day. All da food choices are tasty & portion sizes are good. Usually have breakfast items- omelets, eggs & meat, pancakes, bacon & egg sandwich toasted. Main dishes are also delicious.Be sure to ask or check for their Specials. About 7-8 tables inside.“
