“It was a nice surprise to have lunch here with family! We grabbed a strawberry yuzu soda, one of the specials, local beets salad, and the toast and Fete spreads to share. The soda was more so a juice consistency, topped with dried citrus for a zing and was both tasty and refreshing. We all loved the salad with fresh beets, arugula, and fried scallions. It was nice that it was a serving big enough for 3 people to share, too! As for our entrees, we tried a tuna salad sandwich, the lemon zucchini risotto, and fried chicken with a side of collard greens. Large portions! We didn't care for the tuna salad sandwich, it was a big sandwich with a hamburger bun and some bacon, but just was not what we wanted.. The lemon zucchini risotto on the other hand....it wowed us Fried chicken came with a spicy tomato jam that was yummy, and chicken was nice and tender. A little bit oily but otherwise nice crunchy skin. Decided to share a strawberry fennel sorbet for dessert walking back and it was very flavorful with equal blend of both. All in all we ended up very full and satisfied from our lunch here. Less than $120 for 3 people 3 meals 2 apps and drinks was not bad at all! We enjoyed almost everything we tried and liked the creativity of the menu as well as the fresh and organic ingredients used. Looking forward to trying more!“

“Just like their breakfast place (Over Easy) a block away in Kailua, the food is so tasty. The husband and wife team (owners) are formally trained chefs. They do a remarkable job on creating specialty dishes, as well as making basic menu items a cut above the norm. Hubby loves their Portuguese sausage and brisket dinner and I love their pulled pork.“

“We celebrated my husband’s 50th here this evening. It was the perfect choice! We opted for the set tasting menu and we shared a wine pairing since he wanted a Japanese lager. Dinner consisted of caviar on a soft-boiled egg, mochi-crusted kampachi, scallops, beef tenderloin and a crème brûlée over tapioca. Every bite was delicious. Our server, Alyssa, was cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable.Parking: You have to drive behind the Symphony building on Kapiolani and drive around the building until you find the ramp to the second floor.“

“A must-visit famous restaurant that ranks as the latest in Hawaiian gourmet food. Each dish is infused with ingenuity and a variety of tastes, and I hear that its reputation has only increased since it opened in 2016.If you remember the names of chefs Anthony Rush and Chris Kajioka, something good will come of it.It is located in downtown, about 25 minutes from Waikiki, taking into account traffic congestion. As a leading Hawaiian gourmet restaurant on Oahu that continues to evolve over the years, this is a restaurant that you should definitely make a reservation for when you come to Oahu.“

“I got the mahi mahi plate, blackened and it was INCREDIBLE! The restaurant was clean, service was fast and friendly. Loved having the malt vinegar with my fries. The coleslaw paired so well with the fish. The selection of dipping sauces (ketchup, tartar sauce, and magic sauce) were the perfect finishing touches.“

“Really great experience the first time we came so we had to had to come back again for drinks and food. Somehow the second time was even better largely due to the gracious and hospitable bartender Eddie who made us feel very welcomed. Definitely will be coming back next time we’re in Hawaii! Highly highly recommended!“

“PAI is a MUST TRY!! Stepping in the door is an instant vibe - from the smiling faces to decor to ambiance, you are greeted instantly with inviting hospitality. The menu boasts unique flavors for the adventurous and tasty beverages to compliment all the seasonally fresh flavors. Highly recommend one of the tasting menus for sampling delicious portions from each section of the menu, each course tempting the taste buds to want more. As an oyster lover, the addition of smoke water was hands down the best flavor - so light, so delicate ~ followed closely by the buttery curry bolognese and the lemongrass curry blowing our minds. The pace to enjoy each course was exceptional, and the added joy of learning about the dishes along the way was a real treat. Thank you for an amazing experience Chef Kevin, and the personal touches offered from his wife Justine. Best of luck!“

“I stumbled on Olena by accident and it was the best accident ever! Wendy saw me reading through the menu and stopped and chatted with me. She was so passionate about the quality of the food and was very knowledgable about celiac and gluten-intolerance. While, I do not have celiac I am gluten-intolerant and adhere to a gluten-free diet. Eating out can be very tricky. But Olena offers many gluten-free options - an out-of-this-world beef stew, fall-off-the-bone lilikoi bbq ribs, tender-as-can-be brisket, and my MOST FAVORITE their gluten-free Almond Tarts - I routinely buy 6 at a time. Since my first visit, I have met Rose who is a dynamo and goes above and beyond for their customers. John, another Olena team member, is always bright and cheery. The quality, consistency, and dedication Olena delivers is awesome.“

“A friend who live in Honolulu recommended us to this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try. The prime rib is so tender , they even helped us to cut it to smaller pieces so we could share. We also had Beets & frisee. The portion of scallop mushroom risotto was very generous, and the taste was very flavourful. Sunchoke & Brussels was another nice dish. The service was attentive. At the end, we couldn’t finish the food, so we had to pack to go.It was a nice dinner!“

“Yes, yes and yes…. Should I eat here, are the people friendly, and is the food delicious are the questions. The ube marscapone French toast is crazy good. Should have found this place sooner to try the rest of the menu. Super friendly staff always made sure the coffee was full.“

“Stopped by after a concert at Blaisdell. We used to be regulars and it's been a while since I've been there...it's lost that old local sports bar feel. I guess maybe b/c it looks cleaner than before? Not sure what it is but no matter cuz the food was different but good. Enter from the Kapiolani side now, instead of the parking lot. Got there right before the concert crowd hit so got a table. Ordered drinks of course, and then pork chop lechon, ribeye, fried rice...and maybe a salad? I don't totally remember. Everything yummy. I guess I think I'd rather have the lechon not pork choppy, but was still good. Probably need to go back again...maybe with the work gang since it's close.“

“The prime rib is so yummy! I know I should try some other things but why? For $25, that is a great deal. We called in the order, as recommended by others and it was ready when we got there. I had to be the one to get it since I was not driving. Ray's Cafe is on the corner of North King and Kopke St. Kopke St. is one-way makai, just an fyi. And the place is just an unassuming space with nothing special about it. You walk in and there's a bunch of tables and they will greet you promptly. I have to say I was a bit overwhelmed. While they put my salad together, a gentleman let me sit at his table. When we got home, I was surprised to also see mac salad. Which is what the bf wanted instead of the toss salad I got. Winners! Would I return? You betcha. But I'll prolly do the same thing and make sure that there's a driver and a picker-upper after we call in the order. Oh, one of the specials when I went was prime rib AND crab for $60. There was a guy in the corner grinding away on the crab. Nice!“

“We had the shredded chicken with rice and the bacon melt sandwich with cajun fries. The chicken was so juicy and tender. We ordered online on our way back to Waikiki from the North Shore. It was ready when we got there to pick it up and stayed warm until we got back to the hotel. The teriyaki, bbq, and ranch sauces are all really good.“

“The most amazing crab cakes. Coming from New England I thought our seafood was good, but the recipe for your crab cakes is delicious. The cakes are slightly crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside, they also weren’t over powering with a fishy taste. We also tried the Korean style fried chicken which was also delicious, crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside.I’m glad we found this restaurant & we will definitely be back!“

“Had the breakfast bento with bacon and fried rice. The bacon was thick AND crispy.. didn’t think that was possible! The guy behind the counter appeared to be by himself but he was super efficient and cheerful. It’s within walking distance to the Courts, so perfect for breakfast or lunch “

“Update: They no longer have tartar sauce to go with the fish n' chips. So far, Jolene's has the best fish n' chips I've had on O'ahu. The fries and fish came out piping hot, and the Gold Cliff bier is an excellent pairing for lunch!Lots of other items on the menu look amazing too, so I will definitely be coming back for more, but if you're looking for GREAT fish n' chips in Honolulu, look no further! The staff were also super friendly and chatty too, great people! If I have one suggestion, it would be to double the amount of tartar sauce (which is excellent bee tee dubs) you serve. One side of it isn't nearly enough, but I got more (at no charge) when I asked!Mahalo!“

“Got the Thai Curry, veggie fried rice, the braised eggplant tofu plate, and crispy egg rolls. I'm not vegetarian, but I do eat vegetables. This place a good place to eat if I was a strict vegetarian. I Wouldn't get the eggplant tofu or the egg rolls again, they were ok, and kinda pricey. , but I'd definitely get the Thai Curry and veggie fried rice because they were a good mix.“

“The food we had was okay. I had the ahi fish with brown rice and green salad which was pretty good. My husband however, had whole crispy fish that tasted like canned tuna. It did not taste fresh. The macaroni and rice were okay. We didn't like eating out of cardboard to-go boxes. We would be willing to give them another try, but we would choose something different. We also had salmon poke from the nextdoor market that was pretty good. There was a nice view of the bay.Parking: We came at 3:45 pm, so there was plenty of parking.“

“A pleasant downtown surprise! Situated in a tastefully restored historic building, this sandwich shop gets packed but moves very quickly. Coworkers love the meatballs on Tuesday & Thursday. Other solid options include the Reuben panini and chicken/gorgonzola on focaccia. Good for a quick meal or to catch your breath.“
“The food was so good! I'm sad they are only open twice a week but I hear it's apart of a culinary program or something (per what I read on yelp). They also sell a little bit of fruits and stuff too. There is no seating area to my knowledge, it's all carry-out. And it's kind of on a side street so don't drive by too fast or you will miss it. I was able to get my food fast as well! I got the curry chicken which was good and the mushroom leek risotto, which was "Broke Da Mouf Ono!" The staff was polite as well. Most of all it's affordable! Glad I found this little gem. I've already been back 2 more times!“

“Carval Cafe is one of my favorite lunch stops in Honolulu's once thriving but now languishing Restaurant Row. It's a small, open air place with limited seating but there are tables to be found in the common areas of The Row as well. Ambiance is very casual but pleasant. Everything I've had there was delicious, especially the braised short ribs and the bacon-wrapped roast pork. They have a daily special of a panini with soup or mixed greens for about $10 or $11. It's a bargain for Honolulu, but if you are a big eater you may have to order two (it's plenty for me, but I'm not a Local Boi). If you've read my other reviews, you know I don't just hand out 5-star reviews; that should be all you need to know.“

“Arguably the best food on MCBH. I visited a few spots on the base and this one was too good to not visit again. LOVED the boneless wings - the burgers are good too. Sit at the bar for great service. Definitely will come back the next time i visit!“
