“Me and my friend came here on a rainy day and upon sitting down the lady working at the restauraunt brought us a warm cup of tea. She was very nice throughout our time there. The food was taken to our table pretty fast and it was all delicious my favorite were the tteokbokki and the japchae. We also got free dumplings near the end!!“
“Truly the best karaoke experience! I've been a regular here for a couple years and the staff is always so helpful and friendly. The food is top notch Korean food and the song selection is pretty great. (If you can't find the song you want they can also switch to YouTube if you ask). I want to recommend them but I also want to keep this gem for myself.“
“Great casual Korean bbq neighborhood spot. Real good value for the price. Our favorite dishes are the steamed dumplings and OG chicken. Bibimbop when had dining in so it is hot and crispy is also great. Tacos are fine and sandwiches are just ok.“
“I’ve heard of this spot for a while and finally tried it. First time here. And I’m in love. So many options to try and combos. They drinks are amazing. Definitely a new spot on my list. SOOOO Cheesy!!! SO DELICIOUS! I would recommend this for a cute first date. Look at pics and videos hopefully does it justice!“
“Unpopular opinion but not a fan of the chicken wings. They are too big and saucy. The bibimbap is a much better order here. It gets crowded and hard to find a place to sit and eat since it’s a small place. Also very loud to have conversation.“
“We discovered this authentic Japanese style Korean BBQ restaurant over 30 years ago. The husband wife team make sure you enjoy your food. The chef is a highly trained Japanese chef and his skills are reflected in the exceptional quality meat choices, appetizers and soups. You could just order appetizers and be delighted but the meats are the highlight for their delicious marinades and seasonings. Real charcoal made of specialty hardwoods give the meats that unique smoky flavor. The prices will reflect the careful attention to quality and is well worth it in my opinion of 30 years of enjoying my favorite BBQ place. This is a one of a kind experience. The reason there are so many baseball photos and memorabilia in the restaurant is because this restaurant has been a favorite of every Japanese baseball player in Chicago and around the country and the owners are huge fans of baseball. This restaurant is famous in Japan when visiting Chicago.Parking: Easy street parkingKid-friendliness: Family friendly restaurant. I've been bringing my kids since they were babies“
“AMAZING food! Service was also top notch - friendly and attentive. Owners told stories about the food and sought out feedback from us on what to improve. They have their customers in mind and is reflective in their food. Everything we ordered was phenomenal!! Highly recommend!“
“I’m OBSESSED!!!! Food is 10/10 & so is the service. The staff always greets you as soon as you come in and there is always great Kpop music videos playing while you enjoy your meal. The food is so yummy, definitely coming back ? (I ordered the rosé cup-bokki, original Korean corn dog, and the yuja ade. It was so good, my toes were literally curling every bite and sip I took of my food) <3“
“Ate there for the first time tonight. I am vegan and my husband is an Omni. Chef Bill came out and waited on us personally, and gave us menu recommendations, all of which were delicious! The ambiance was so relaxing and peaceful; it was a nice respite from a busy day and I didn’t want to leave. Reasonably priced as well: shared appetizer, two teas, two entrees, and two desserts was $60. Will definitely be back for many more dinners!“
“For our last night in Chicago, we decided to hit a couple bars and we ended up here. It was such a cute place! The atmosphere is fun and friendly. We ordered some Korean popcorn chicken and a couple cocktails. The staff was super friendly and made us laugh a bunch. Karaoke was just kicking off when we were there--Josue did a great rendition of Beautiful Soul! Would definitely recommend for a great night out. I hope that we get a chance to come back.“
“This is one of the cutest places in Andersonville! I HIGHLY recommend getting the Ancient Brown Sugar Tea, it’s deliciously sweet and my only complaint is that it doesn’t come in a bigger size. The employees are very kind and welcoming.“
“I think I ordered tofu kimchi, bossam, and tripe hotpot. It tastes impeccably great. It's perfect for a glass of soju during a business trip. There are staff who can speak Korean and are friendly.I remember that local customers were eating a lot of gamjatang.I was a little lost because I couldn't find the entrance. I barely found the entrance to the strange basement and was scared going down the stairs, but once I got inside, it was a whole new world haha. It would be nice to know in more detail how to get there.“
“Wonderful balance of flavors. Helpful service, fresh food, well kept interior. Shared a meal with my partner and the portions were generous, we both enjoyed our meal and would come back. Tried it on a whim and am pleased with the results! Definitely recommend— our favorites were the chili garlic edamame and gabli short rib.“
“I really really enjoyed my bulgogi bibimbap I ordered here. It took a while because as others have pointed out, it's just one person working here -- Susie. She cooks the food, serves it, and handles the cash. She for sure has tons of experience cooking the food and you can taste it; it's just a really home-y atmosphere and meal. Will definitely be coming back and sharing this place with friends!“
“best kbbq i've ever been to! got 2 meats and 1 appetizer totaling to $95 for 2 people. byob friendly. the aunties aren't as bad as some reviews make them out to be but i might just be more used to this service than non asians are.“
“I loved “Perilla” …Please do not think of this as your typical Korean BQ grill/Restaurant. This is the most excellent Korean BQ restaurant I have ever been in and I have been in quite few over the years both in Korea back in the day and in the USA…Tomba⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“
“Rice and Bread has been there for a long time. The original owner sold it to the current owner and he has maintained its charm. I don't think I've ever eaten American style food there because I love the Korean offerings. The food is amazing. The decor is dated but the service is wonderful. The same server has been there forever too.You get a lot of food for the money“
“Went to have lunch with my husband we got the meals with sides. Got chicken and waffles and side of tots, he got wings and bulgogi fries and one Thai tapioca tea. Over all it was delish. Food 8.5/10 Sauce 8/10 was flavorful but not spicy we got the Seoul spicy sauce they didn't have the bull sauce. The waffles are kinda small, it's two cut in half and each half was one bite. Ratio of waffles and chicken was not hitting. Service was eh, the nice cashier seemed new and asked us to repeat several times and or didn't know what was in the meal options. It was cold in the restaurant we dined in, hate being cold when eating. Personal preference. Would definitely go back. Wish there was an option to toss the chicken in sauce versus dipping.“
“My friend like to eat Korean food and he invite me to Kim’s home cooking to try Korean food. I was pleasantly surprised how tasty everything was and how quickly the staff brought us food, and most importantly, they don’t skimp on the portions. I don't know much about Korean food, but it was delicious!“
“Incredible food with friendly staff and an excellent atmosphere. The smells alone in this restaurant are mesmerizing. As soon as you walk in, you were hit with the smell of delicious Korean spices. You immediately see a cozy interior with plenty of seating, and even a few couches.Food is really high-quality, and the quantity for the price is perfect. We got a ton of food ranging from chicken tacos to spicy pork tacos to Bulgogi elote quesadillas. We also got several sides such as their sweet potato fries, kimchi fried rice, and kimchi slaw. We even got some green grape Soju.I would say the only letdown dish for this sweet potato fries. Nothing fancy, and it’s the Seoul sauce that really makes that dish good. Everything else was absolutely incredible. Perfectly balanced, suite and spicy tacos filled with the umami from the fried rice. Here’s a food, hack I really enjoyed. Eat the kimchi slaw and the kimchi fried rice together.Overall, incredible spot with absolutely delicious food! I will definitely come back here several times in the near future.Vegetarian options: All of their items can be made without meat, or with tofu instead of meat.“
“Small but cozy. We got there around 7:30pm. The place was pretty much full the whole time until we left. Very few tables for seating. We ordered the fire chicken with cheese. I highly recommend the fire chicken. The cheese is not necessary but get it if you like it. I was surprised by how delicious the chicken was. It was marinated just right. Spicy but tasty. I would order a bowl of rice or two to eat with it. It was enough for two people. Most of the menu prices felt a little bit pricey. I would definitely come back to get fire chicken though.“
“My best, all-time favorite and go-to Korean BBQ ever throughout many years!! Could never express how much I love the food and the service here. Up until now, no place can match the marinated galbi they have here, as long as their kimchi soup. Highly recommended!!“
“Really, really, really great Chinese food! Everything is made fresh and made at order..Seen how everything is made with real and fresh ingredients is amazing! Honestly, my whole family talked how is better than other restaurant we gone around town.Check out the pics for your self and see how delicious it looks! A must try in Chicago Lawn AreaOwners are nice..You won’t regret it!“
“I actually found this restaurant by accident looking up kimchi but when I saw the photos, I had to try it. They did not disappoint. First of all, everyone was nice--the service was friendly and gracious. We tried many things but my favorite was the beef fried rice and ribeye bulgogi. If you are searching for authentic Korean fare, definitely check them out.“
“Also known as Asawon, my family has been coming to Peking Mandarin for decades. This is one of the few remaining classic Chinese-Korean restaurants that serve a lot of Chinese-American food and a handful of Chinese-American dishes that are enormously popular among Koreans. They also serve excellent champong, a classic spicy seaweed soup that is not too dissimilar to menudo, sans the tortillas. The trio of dishes we usually get are the spicy chicken wings aka lollipop wings (also available in boneless pork here), sweet and sour chicken (tan sauce, vs. the orange sauce in the American Chinese version), and black bean noodles. Last time we also threw in Mongolian Beef, which was surprisingly outstanding. Not sure if it was just a lucky day but the beef was infused with a smoky wok hei, unlike most Mongolian Beef dishes that are usually kind of watery and bland. I also like the black mushrooms & tofu, a classic Chinese American dish. The popular wings can sometimes be a little overcooked but the thick spicy sauce is usually on point. The primary competitor, Great Seas down the street, might have slightly better wings in a thinner more nuanced sauce, but the black bean noodles here are more generously sauced and slightly better, I think. I go back and forth between which restaurant that I prefer. My spouse prefers Great Seas wings but my family prefers Peking Mandarin for the other dishes and overall. They have large tables and are used to serving large groups, especially on weekends. The service is just fair and can be almost non-existent when they are busy. Be patient and bring cash. The decor is outdated but people here are regulars who come for the food, not to be impressed by interior design. This is one of the Chicago pillar restaurants devoted to food, not trends. I feel like those keep closing - let's keep this one open.Parking: Parking can be tight - we usually manage to find a spot in the diag spaces on St. Louis south of Lawrence.“
“To start I’m Korean, my family is in Korea, and I love food. To the ones who said the food was bad or mediocre, stay in the HMart food court or whatever tiktok ramen yall wanna make. The obvious hate is so undeserved. This place always delicious. Brought a big group of coworkers here to try kbbq for the first time. The aunties were super helpful and let us individually box things up to go when we couldn’t finish. They were so polite and patient with us because we didn’t know what we wanted.Dietary restrictions: There’s no cheese, dairy and meatless optionsParking: There’s a parking lot but it’s not very big because you’re in a busy area. There’s plenty of side and street parking.Wheelchair accessibility: Front door entrance is ground level“
“First time trying Bonchon and wish there was one closer where I live! We tried the boneless wings in Korean BBQ and Garlic Soy. The coating was nice and crunchy and chicken very moist, high quality white meat. We ordered the kimchi coleslaw which was fabulous. Our waitstaff mentioned that we could get coleslaw for free with the wings as we were given a choice between coleslaw and pickled radish. We said we still wanted an order of the kimchi coleslaw and we'd select the pickled radish but were given regular coleslaw. Then we also shared the tteokbokki which was very nice with good heat to it, how I like it. Last was the potstickers which we all enjoyed and were nice and crispy. 4 stars because we didn't get the radish, and also they automatically add gratuity which I don't agree with.“
“I have eaten in at the Logan Square location and have gotten delivery from the River North location. This is my go-to Asian restaurant and the food is delicious. The kalbi is savory, tender, and sweet. Tastes as fresh as off the bbq. You can’t go wrong with the spicy pork belly or the bulgogi, either! Delivery is amazing, and eating in is equally amazing. Incredible food at reasonable prices. Huge fan—highly recommend!“
“Plenty of space. The online orders being picked up were ready as soon as everyone arrived. I placed a carry out order. I was given great customer service and experienced great hospitality by the host as I waited for the food. The food was fresh and everything I imagined.“
“Located in the French market, this Korean restaurant makes simple meals. I highly suggest getting their bibimbap bowl and sweet potato fries with honey. These are both really good dishes and are pretty quick to come out.Service is very OK. If you order a water on a separate transaction, they will not give that to you ahead of time until your full meal is ready.Atmosphere is nice as it is in a large food court.“
“Had lunch here with some friends last week! Lots of space, clean, and the staff is nice efficient. I ordered the bento box with bulgogi. It's A LOT of food! It's pricey but I think it worth it! I loved the banchan. Lots of options. You order on the iPad and don't forget to check in on Yelp for a free soda! I can't wait to go back!“
“I had dinner with friend here while visiting Chicago. I had been wanting to try kimbap for so long and I was so glad I finally got to. Our waiter TK was great; offered recommendation. All of the food was heavenly: the kimbap, fried mandoo, chap chae; even the banchan was some of the best I have ever had. There was another gentleman behind the bar (forgive me, I forgot his name) who was very nice! I hope to visit again next time I am in Chicago. Thank you for a VERY enjoyable meal!“
“Came here to celebrate my friend passing his finals Lol. Really chill place overall ! We got to catch up on a lot of things. The only reason why im not giving it 5/5 was because the food took a little long to come out. Overall it was all good, especially the drinks they had ! Thanks guys !“
“!!! CHEAPER THAN HMART !!! It's the same type of Korean food and decent quality, just cheaper. This place is a must for nearby residents. Their restaurant inside has great food with very generous portions. I recommend trying any of their menu items! I'll definitely be back for their bulk frozen dumplings, rice cakes, and vegan onigiri. - AT“
“Can't say enough about this authentic Korean restaurant. I didn't catch our servers name, but he told us he has worked there 9 years & is a manager. Although he isn't Korean, he had visited Korea several times and was extremely knowledgeable about the food and guided us in ordering foods we would like. They were obviously short staffed, but he did a great job of balancing everything. He noticed my daughter's concert shirt that we were in town for a Korean pop concert (Monsta X) and he switched the music in the restaurant to that group. The food was excellent and we were all very happy with our selections and portions. If we didn't live 6 hours away, we would be regulars!“
“Very delicious barbecue. I like the cold side dishes here. They are purely for our Northeastern taste. The boss is very nice and the waiters are warm and thoughtful. I will come here to have a meal every time I go back to Chicago. I highly recommend it. Thank you!“
“I love this neighborhood mom and pop shop - you get such affordable food of many variety. I especially love their asian foods, like the spicy chicken rice and bibimbap. The breakfast is also solid, like the croissant sandos! To top it all off, the workers are all incredibly sweet, so its no surprise I always run into regulars.“
“Loved this place, just across the street from the Hampton Inn we stayed so ordered and picked up right away. Kimchi fries are plenty for two and are delish!! Spicy chicken bowl was also very good, too! Employees were very courteous and helpful upon arrival to pick up my food. They have Korean style burgers too, but I just wasn't in the mood for it. I'm sure it's great as well. I'll be back again!“
“Usually in all Vietnamese soupo restaurants already when you order the soup there is already meat inside when I ordered here either the waiter misunderstood me or I didn’t make the right order in general I ordered soup without meat and it turned out just water and noodles for 9 dollars that’s how I am ate Next time I will be careful and when you order, check what you order“

“It was our first time and Paul our waiter was exceptionally great! He helped us order all the right things! Really created an easy/chill experience. Don’t snooze on the YANGNYEOM GALBI & SAMGYEOPSAL. Pink radish and kimchi were good and oh portions are huge! Lychee soju & Cass beer paired well with dinner! We came late on Thursday night and the lot was packed, so prepare to look for street parking.. nonetheless we will definitely be back 10/10 ? PS Gogi is 1-of-4 K-BBQ spots in the city that uses charcoal grill ? “
“Food was incredible. Entire team was fantastic. Everyone was so nice and friendly. One of the best dinners we’ve had in all our global travels. This is food made with LOVE. If we lived in Chicago, Jeong would be a staple restaurant for us.“
