“Great experience while visiting Chicago over St Patty's weekend. Went with friends mid afternoon. We had reservations and luckily so because the place was packed. Ambiance is awesome. The food and drinks were top notch. I had a lamb pot pie. It came with a huge portion of bone marrow. The beef tartare was also amazing. Only pic I ended up getting while there. Still thinking about it. I hope to make it there again someday“
“I've been having beers here for a couple of weeks now. This place is outstanding for their food, beer selection, and amazing service. The staff is highly knowledgeable and kind. Please stop by and have a lovely time here!P.S. Their Grilled Cesar Chicken sandwich is AMAZING! ?I'd say my favorite beer is the Reissdorf Kölsch :)“
“Came here with some mates and had a grand time. Love the English pub aesthetic because it reminds me of me of my time living in the UK. Unbeknownst to us, we happened to stumble in this establishment at happy hour time where we had more than our fill of pints and bar food. I got the currywurst which was delicious. My mate got a pie which looked and tasted delectable as well. This is a good stop for food and drink with friends.“
“Great place and great drinks and food! For any other wheelchair users thinking of going: Bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible though so I’m not sure why it was listed that it was.Wheelchair accessibility: Bathrooms were labeled as wheelchair accessible on google so I just assumed they were. Had a good time and the staff helped as much as they could but just wanted to let people know!“
“All you can eat fish 'n chips days are not to sleep on.The fish is awesome. Batter is thin, golden and incredibly crunchy yet gentle. Very tasty and satisfying! The last time I was there I was quite disappointed by availability of whiskeys. Lots of options were out.Scottish imported beer was there as always and as always great pours with perfect foam head.“
“This was our first time in as we just moved to the neighborhood and we loved it! We had come from dinner but decided we wanted some snacks. We had the fried pickles, pretzels, & ice cream with churros-- I was surprised but oh so happy they had some kind of dessert. The bartender was a super nice guy-- very friendly. He checked on us often and never left us waiting for anything. The interior was really cute and about what you expect for a corner/ neighborhood bar. We will for sure be back-- so glad we gave it a try!“
“Great place and a great addition to the neighborhood. I’ve been here a few times now and enjoyed everything I’ve had. Great cocktails too. The couple that opened it are wonderful people. The staff and owners are super friendly and attentive.“
“Visiting for work a couple days and had some down time to kill. 1st day, met Frank.. super friendly and made me feel welcomed. Played darts with some people from Belgium. Touch tunes and drinks are priced right. Met Jeff and regular and Mark the 2nd day I came. Great dive bar!!“
“Okay, apart from the incredible beers and the fact that the sun shines in most of the day, Spiteful Brewing has the best bathroom in Chicago. 10/10 immaculate, cleanliness top notch, nice marmalade smell and quick dispensing paper towel machine. Epic. Would crawl in a deep hole in this bathroom to emerge like a phoenix through the ashes“
“Original cocktails in an original setting. Very good service, very good drinks that you won't find everywhere (their own touch on the classics too), good ingredients and bottles behind the bar. Pick your atmosphere: you can sit a the counter where it's more like a speakeasy, or at a table in the bustling bar, or in the lobby area of the apartment building where it's more like a quieter lounge. My favorite bar in uptown.“
“Beth M was the most gracious, attentive and thoughtful employee. From the greeting to the final check, she was professional, kind AF, didn’t miss a beat and lemme talk about thorough. She made every customer feel like they were the only customer! That chica deserves a shoutout!Food and bevs - YUMMMMMMM AND vegetarian friendly“
“This is one of my favorite bars on earth, and I’ve done my best to see visit as many as I can across four continents. I took a break of about five years in between visits once and the bartenders still remembered my name. Classy. As you know, it’s cash only. Some other rules are that you can’t fall asleep at the bar. But, being drunk on its own is fine. I think there is still no TV, thank goodness.“
“Chuy is the best bartender AND the fish'n'chips are the best in the city of Chicago, bar none! The cod is so fresh and flavorful, the batter is deep fried to perfection, the "chips" are perfectly done, tartar sauce delicious, and the cole slaw is pretty good too! Great beer selection and wines are good. We will be back!“
“This is a great neighborhood pub! We've come here for all the different meals and have not been disappointed. As they have expanded their menu it has only gotten better. Highlights are the pies, gin drinks, and the matcha latte. It's an unexpected fun spot for breakfast on weekdays too. If we lived even closer we would be here all the time. The ambiance is a traditional British pub which we love!“
“The ambiance is first class and I feel out of place to watch early morning soccer there but the staff is very friendly and the chairs are most comfortable. The on tap choices are very good and the food is delicious. Ample tv screens to accommodate your team of choice. I highly recommend this place.“
“Really cool spot, library vibes with ww1 history. Honestly the spot is very nice from the inside. We got the curry fries, pretzel and the sticky toffee pudding. I loved everything besides the sticky toffee dessert - such hope for that but turned out to be a small cake w caramel and nothing more- It needed iced cream not whipped cream. Regardless this place is actually worth visiting for a casual beer and maybe fish n chips/bangers & mash. Cheers!“
“As part of a conference we were attending this week, we did a walking tour through Chicago all about the Lager beer riot of 1855. Our tour ended at Monk's Pub. They don't accommodate reservations after a certain time, so we were at the mercy of the bar for seating. They were able to split us into smaller groups and get us seated pretty quickly which we appreciated. A few members of our group ordered some food and seemed to enjoy the offerings. The drinks were good and the service was quick! I hope I can come back some time.“
“As huge fans of Irish pubs, my boyfriend and I were really excited to stop inside of Miller's Pub and it did not disappoint! We received excellent service at the bar and I really enjoyed all of the historical aspects and decor of the place.I enjoyed my hot chocolate and my boyfriend was impressed with the draft beer selection- can't wait to return when we are in Chicago next!“
“We met up with friends and family members on Thanksgiving weekend, and had a blast! The band was awesome and made the night- Patrick Bale and the Pale Ales- hope to see them play again soon! The atmosphere is so unique, with character and charm, also artsy and styled- fun for all ages. We didn’t eat but drinks (and shots!) were flowing. We’ll be back for sure.“
“So good! Served up food for 5 people to go in about 20 minutes and every person was super happy with their food! Our favorite place in the neighborhood. Update: still the best place in the neighborhood. Update 2: still our fave, Burger of the week this week (2/8/24) was SO GOOD!“
“My experience at this bar was in the late 70s and early 80s. My husband, Michael and his partner Micky owned this place when my husband was in medical school. There was one of many brawls here that were just hilarious. One in February when the entire bar cleared into the street and “dibs” chairs were thrown everywhere. The police showed up and everyone was back in the bar like nothing happened. It had a liquor rack over the square bar. There was a neighborhood Elvis impersonator dancing on the bar. All at once the liquor rack crashed onto the bar. My husband proposed to me there. Always something with a cast of characters. I’m sure it’s very different now. Great memories ??“
“Bernard’s is sophistication, darkness and seduction with an equestrian twist. Stepping into this landmark cocktail lounge, you’re immediately part of the history. The Japanese whiskey Old Fashioned stands out as a delightful twist on a classic, highlighting the creativity of the mixologists.Bernard’s is more than just a destination for fashion-inspired cocktails. Named after Bernard Heerey, a Chicago philanthropist who left a mark on the city. This spot pays homage to its namesake through its commitment to charitable causes.“
“Great joint with "old Chicago" vibes. Old style on tap, checkered table clothes, and good cheap food. Really great place to grab a beer and complain about the weather or take someone out for a nice dinner. Cost me about $30 for a beef, salad, and three beers.“
“Amazing little bar tucked behind Midway airport. Best Polish food around! Pierogis are to die for! Goulash soup, potato pancakes,& more! They have a Polish sampler platter that has a taste of everything you could want!! Go! Eat! Enjoy!!“
“We are in town from KC & we were told to come here to watch the Chiefs game. We walked into a great place 95% full of Chiefs fans for the game. We had 5 star service (thank you Gloria!) and really amazing food. (Burgers, sweet potato waffle fries & homemade sriracha mayo) Yes bar food menu but REALLY good. Everyone was super friendly & we just felt so welcome. I would come here again in a heartbeat & if I was a local I’d become a regular. Thanks guys!“
“What a great place. Very old, very quaint, very comfortable. I felt like I was in the cheers bar from the 80s. Everyone was super fun. The staff, while being busy, was still attentive and friendly. The drinks were great. They have a more of little side rooms so check them out. Didn't try any of the food but the menu looked good. Music was good and at just the right volume. You could still talk but hear it.“
“I like to visit this place during the week because it is relatively chill on nights that are not fridays and saturdays. Their food is fantastic and they have a wonderful assortment of great drafts to choose from.pool table in the back and enough Miller highlife to supply an army of beer drinkers. They have an eclectic array of spirits! This joint is a must visit for those looking for a place to relax and feel classy while they do it.“
“We have been going to Michael’s over 15 years and it has a great atmosphere and great service . One of greatest Ruben , Serafín , Bryan and rest of staff including owner Nick. When we go it feels like family . We are very appreciative of how throughout the years nothing has changed we love Michael’s and really recommend it .“
“Attended a group event at Cary's Lounge. Great little bar with an outdoor patio and art gallery upstairs. Bartender was very nice and helped me choose a drink (a special that they technically didn't have anymore but still had the ingredients for) and it was awesome. It was a nice surprise that a friendly cat came up to us on the patio and let us pet him.“
“Food ok. Lots of beer options. We got the bait and switch on Sunday. We can in and asked where we could see the Giants game. They said anywhere. AFTER we ordered drinks and food they can over and said they don’t have Sunday ticket. That’s terrible. Will never come back“
“Another great find. Adding Tuman's Tap to my Favorites list. Great bourbon selection and reasonable prices per pour. Pappy 10,12 &23. And many other good whiskeys. The food is also great. Fun staff! Recommend it ?Parking: Pay parking on main St. Other free parking near side streets.“
“What a great place. Arranged a small goodbye party this past weekend at BP. Virgil helped me to reserve tables in the back and was extremely easy to work with. The service throughout the day was quick and kind, despite a larger group than anticipated. The back patio is always a nice vibe, and prices are fair. One of my favorite spots in Chicago and definitely in Bucktown/Wicker.“
“Goldie's is pretty divey but has all the ingredients needed for a solid night out. There's a dartboard, a pool table, and a TouchTunes, plus plenty of seating and friendly service. Drinks are a bit overpriced (the vodka sodas my friends and I ordered were definitely not worth the price), but they have a decent selection of beers on tap and the overall atmosphere makes up for it. Will be back for some chill nights out in the future.“
“Great neighborhood bar. Really good bar food and service. The wings are perfectly crunchy. I'm betting double fried. 14 beer taps and some TVs.Vegetarian options: They have a veggie burger and a panini, hummus, and your typical fried veggie options.“
“The Cabin is a delightful neighborhood bar, that’s a cut above in cleanliness and decor. Staff are friendly and safety-focused, and the regulars care about the space and its patrons as though it were a second home. The Cabin has created a real sense of Community. Highly “
“Hi guys, just wanna let you guys know the garage bar in sandwiches is a great spot to have food. The service was OK. Not the best but the food makes everything better. Unfortunately the drinks were trash. I shouldn’t say trash because that’s understatement. They are horrible they taste nothing but syrup don’t get drinks or specialty drinks here get anything on tap that was better, good luck“
“Pleasantly surprised by this place located on Bryn Mawr between Kedzie and Kimball. The initial impression was that the prices on the menu seemed a bit high given its location. And some dishes like hummus plate, which consisted of cut up carrots and cucumber with pita bread and a large spoonful of hummus, was not worthwhile at $14. Same goes for a bowl of Irish cabbage soup for $10. Having said, other items like chicken wings and burgers were quite delicious and were worth paying little more for them. Given their great beer selection and wonderful cocktails, it is worth a visit.“
“Galway Arms is the best ‘local’ in Chicago! Great craft beers, great Guinness, Superb food - the Lamb Shank is 2nd to none and for brunch - the Full English Breakfast is fantastic! And the place is full of friendly regulars and the staff are the best!“
“This is, by far, the BEST German restaurant in Chicago! Hands down!Erin, the owner, has created a spectacularly genuine restaurant that is warm, cozy and welcoming. It harkens back to those gloriously rich, cultured German dining spots of old while celebrating classic rustic fare that needs no introduction. The appetizer selection is grand and elegant and includes perfectly prepared hackepeter, a robust jumbo Bavarian pretzel, delectable potato pancakes and expertly breaded fried smelt. The lunch menu will satisfy ever taste with terrific savory sandwiches such as the Laschet's Reuben, chicken schnitzel, smoked pork butt and bratwurst. Mouthwatering roasted potatoes, spaetzel, sauerkraut and warm German potato salad are majestic accompaniments to choose from.Their dinners are all "Must Try!" and feature incomparable sauerbraten, Wiener schnitzel, rouladen, goulash and many, many other dinner highlights that truly stand out as superb.Much love, care and attention go into every meal that it's virtually impossible to pick an absolute favorite. They are all spectacular.Outstanding desserts include decadent German chocolate cake, delicious apple strudel and a "too-good-to-be-true!" apple crisp that really sets the bar really, really high.Of course, we can't forget beer! A full, traditionally beautiful bar showcases the finest, freshest selections of German and Austrian beers available to balance and compliment everything on the menu. The staff is just ideal! Friendly, professional, warm and attentive, the staff always goes above and beyond to make ones dining experience memorable. Bravo to them!!!After a great meal and a beer, it's easy to just sit back and feel relaxed, content and throughly happy. Perhaps sit at the bar when done in the comfortable dining room. You're amongst friends. Family. That's how this place make one feel.True, there are quite a few German restaurants in Chicago, but Laschet's Inn far exceeds the usual fare by building the flavor components to an eye-opening level and turns dining into thoroughly enjoyable moments not to be missed.Laschet's Inn is Chicago's iconic German restaurant, and it truly provides a 5-Star dining occasion to be relished.By all means, do become a regular!!!“
“I went to The Arrogant Frog last night for the first time and Ryan (the owner and bartender) was so welcoming, friendly, kind, helpful, and easy to talk to. I went on a first date (that was a huge success btw) and this was the perfect location. It was quiet, lots of room to sit and had great atmosphere/aesthetic, great drinks, great service, and great location! I will be coming back many times. Future Arrogant Frog regular right here!!“
“Solid sports bar with an Irish twist, they've got darts, skeeball, and a few other games. Food is surprisingly good and the drink menu is solid.Layout wise it feels like they've got two bars with the center wall cut out. Makes for a lot of space and great throughput on drink service.Well worth your time if you're looking for a sports pub.“
“Awesome neighborhood bar in Roscoe! My wife and daughter wanted to visit a bookstore, so my son and I visited here just two doors down. It was pretty busy for 3 pm, but we got a hi top table and placed our orders right away. We had a couple of Old Styles, and I tried the Krombacher pilsner. It was the beer of the month and very good. My wife and daughter joined us about an hour later and had a couple of drinks. This seemed to be a less expensive bar than most we visited in Chicago. That's always a good thing! Service was outstanding! I can't get over these beautiful Chicago bars. Long and narrow. Awesome architecture. Perfect setup here at Village Tap! Will definitely try and make it back here on our next visit to Chicago.“
“This is one of my go to neighborhood bars with my fiancé! They have a special on the menu each weekday and it's always slightly different so you never get bored with the menu. During the summer time I love sitting at the patio with our dog. The service is pretty good as well. Definitely recommend as a chill go to neighborhood bar to grab a bite to eat and hangout with friends“
“We found this little tavern about half a block from our hotel room. Some of the people traveling with us had trouble with some of the other taverns and bars due to reservations. We later found out from the locals that it's best to stay away from the north side due to the service being a little different for visitors. Well, we definitely did not have any problems with service here. This local pub had a good crowd and there was only seating available at the bar. We were immediately served and made friends with a local as soon as we sat down. They definitely made us feel at home and the experience here compared to the north side was definitely different. It wasn't anything fancy, just good company and good drinks. We only stayed a while because we had to get up early in the morning but by the time we left that place was jam-packed and booming. We would definitely be back.“
“This was a very lovely spot. The decor is fun and adorable.Service was great, fast and personable. Two of us had cider and very much enjoyed them.Food was amazing. All of us had different pies. Our favorite dish was the feta and tomato spread. The crisps and dip was also very good.“
“If your into dive bars, this place is a must!!! As soon as I walked in, the first thing that I noticed was the patrons. Everyone was in the their 'fave' seats, I was very particular about where I chose to sit. I sat down, none of the patrons barked or grumbled at me, I guess I'm in a 'safe' seat. I was very intentional about speaking to the bartender John and trying to 'squeeze' into one of the convos that involved the patrons. After a few drinks, I felt like the vibe in the room was loosening up. I asked John if I could take pics with my 35. He said, "There's no one in here with a 'side piece', take as many pics as you want". I made an announcement to the bar. I said that I would be taking pics of the bar only and these pics are exclusively for me. Everyone was Kool about it. But one guy insisted that I take a selfie with him. I was honored!“
“we still had a great time at our show, very cute place, but the staff was a little bit rude to be honest :-/ not in just a direct/blunt way, but just flat-out rude in sort of a pretentious way is the only way i can put it. people have off days so i’m not discrediting the venue at all!“
“I live nearby and had been meaning to check out this place, finally got around to it after almost a year and it's a fantastic neighborhood spot! Friendly folks of all backgrounds who go out of the way to chat you up, reasonable drink prices, cute dogs, nice bartender...what more could you ask for? I'll be back soon!“
“Really cool bar. The best that Western has to offer. Inside is nice. They expanded and now have two party rooms. The real draw is the beer garden outside. It’s huge and has lush vegetation surrounding a ton of tables. The bartenders could work a little faster. The manager looks like the guy from The Hills Have Eyes but he’s really nice. I love coming here.“
“This place has a cool, hip vibe and it’s fun to eat at the communal tables. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great variety of beer and creative craft cocktails. Food is beautifully plated and delicious - make sure to try the potatoes, baby gem salad and hanger steak.“
