Don't miss these Decatur Mexican restaurant gems.
“I'm a truck driver and had to make a stop at Walmart, which is in the same plaza. Saw the restaurant lights from across the parking lot. They had a good amount of cars parked in front for it to be the middle of the week. Decided to walk over, and as soon as I walked in, someone greeted me at the door. The inside decor looked very authentic and the people inside looked like they were enjoying themselves. I was seated immediately and the waiter came right over to take my order. The food was very good and filling. I had to take a to-go plate.“
“My family loves this little place. It's a small, family-run taqueria on the east end of Decatur off of Eldorado and 22nd Street. We like to stop in for a quick dinner of 20 tacos to take home or eat in for the entire menu. Their torta are light and delicious. My boss love their chorizo and al pastor in any dish, and I like their chicken tacos and torta.“

“For our large group, after the soccer ⚽️ tournament, they handled our group with ease and smiles on their faces. The service was very good, and we paid with one check to make it go smoother. The chips and salsa were very tasty and asked for seconds. Our food arrived in a timely manner with everything hot and just as we ordered. The food was very good, and the menu had all the ingredients that were included in that dish. I had the taco salad that had a homemade taco shell that was so tasty, and I would recommend that and order that again ? ?!! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu ? ? ?!! Try it you'll like it!!“
“Best tacos I've ever had! Their red(hot) sauce is by far the best in town. The corn tortillas are magical. Marcos has really changed my mind of Mexican cuisine. I used to go to any restaurant and just order papa nachos and call it a day, but the Mexican steak street tacos changed my life forever. I ate there nearly everyday last year for lunch, and found myself lost when he closed the truck down last year for winter. I wandered out and tried to find tacos this good, but was unable to find anything close. I only wish I could get them for breakfast.“
“This is one of Decatur’s hidden gems ?.. Have so much to offer & The owners aren’t easy to pick out because they are definitely humbled & Beautiful inside & outside, They are a grounded couple who mix & mingle with their customers & They work just as hard/ If not harder than their staff. Love’em both! ?“
“This place has quickly became my favorite Mexican food in Decatur their quesabirrias, carnitas, quesadillas al pastor, and their meat lover fajitas are all amazing. The service was a little bad the last few times but the food still tasted amazing and the tea always tastes fresh. Ask for their salsa verde it's the best.“
“I had some kind of quesadilla with pineapple, chicken, cheese & bacon. Best quesadilla I've ever had in my life. I came from Texas so I doubt I'll ever make it back to eat it again & im sad about that. Margaritas are pretty bomb as well. The cheese sauce (queso) was pretty darn delicious as well.“
“If you are looking for a fancy restaurant, this is not your place, but the food was so good and prices so reasonable that this is the place for Mexican food in Decatur. My daughter who is a poor college student says they will load up cars and drive across town for their tacos.“
“Heard from family who lives in Decatur that the food was good. So myself and a couple of other visiting family came here for lunch. Service was fantastic, food was hot and fresh and we concur with our family that this is a good place if you're craving Mexican food.“
“So we moved here from Texas a few months ago, and to say it's been a struggle to find somewhat decent Mexican food anywhere in the midwest is an understatement. This place is good! And by good I mean the best we've found so far, which means stellar in comparison to the other options in town that we have tried. Not the best Mexican food we've had (again, we are from Texas and were used to just good Mexican food EVERYWHERE), but we have been back several times and this is our go to place to scratch that neverending itch for Mexican food. We've tried several things off the menu and haven't been disappointed yet! Solid choice for Mexican chow.“
“The food came out hot and bursting with flavor. My boyfriend commented on how tasty the meat was even tucked inside a giant burrito smothered in delicious cheese sauce!!! Our server was more polite than any service we've had intown in the last 6 months!!!! The drinks were impressive as well. I could actually taste the tequila in the margaritas for a change! I highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't already!??Well Done Las Margaritas!! ???“
“Best consistent each time! Great authentic with tons of flavor. We’ve been to all & still love the others in the area but Charro is at the top of the list for the yummy food, amazing service & consistency of all mentioned over time.“
“I love the interior of this place! so sleek and welcoming! the food is great, too. The staff is hard-working and likable, and the owner is very interactive and engaging with guests and answers questions in a timely manner! I love the tortillas used for the tacos and the ingredients are fantastic. very authentic atmosphere!“
“We were pleasantly surprised with this place!!!! Not having high expectations being from out of town. The service was very friendly, quick service, clean establishment. And food was freshly made and crispy. We had a kids burger with fries, cheesesteak with cheese curds, and road house sandwich with waffle fries and cheese sauce. As well as fried walleye to share. The only thing I could recommend was adding something spicy like a salsa to the road house sandwich.“
