“I have been to Bat 17 numerous times over the years, and I always really enjoy it. They have solid vegetarian options, and the rest of their food is equally good. Their outside seating section is a big hit in the warm weather, but the indoors is just as nice. The servers in my experience have always been kind and helpful which is much appreciated! I feel like it is hard to find a good sandwhich or burger nowadays, but Bat 17 does the basics very well.“

“My experience at this bar was in the late 70s and early 80s. My husband, Michael and his partner Micky owned this place when my husband was in medical school. There was one of many brawls here that were just hilarious. One in February when the entire bar cleared into the street and “dibs” chairs were thrown everywhere. The police showed up and everyone was back in the bar like nothing happened. It had a liquor rack over the square bar. There was a neighborhood Elvis impersonator dancing on the bar. All at once the liquor rack crashed onto the bar. My husband proposed to me there. Always something with a cast of characters. I’m sure it’s very different now. Great memories ??“

“Pleasantly surprised by this place located on Bryn Mawr between Kedzie and Kimball. The initial impression was that the prices on the menu seemed a bit high given its location. And some dishes like hummus plate, which consisted of cut up carrots and cucumber with pita bread and a large spoonful of hummus, was not worthwhile at $14. Same goes for a bowl of Irish cabbage soup for $10. Having said, other items like chicken wings and burgers were quite delicious and were worth paying little more for them. “The food was delicious, and the portions were large. You definitely get your money's worth. We had the lenten special creamed herring appetizer, and it was outstanding. The potato pancakes are more like a pancake; do not expect the Latke style of shredded potato with onion. They are served with both sour cream and apple sauce. The Sauerbraten has a non-traditional white gravy that tastes good but is definitely different from what I am used to. They have a very good selection of draft beers as well as a good selection of beers in bottles and cans. The Chicken Paprikash had very good flavor and richness to the gravy. The Goulash is tender, decadent, and has a little heat to it. The service can be slow, so it is not a place for a rushed meal. The restaurant area is clean and has a great ambiance. The restrooms are separated, with the men's bathroom being by the front of the restaurant area and the women's being towards the back. The men's room is a little cramped, but that is a necessity for space.Parking: Paid parking on the main street out front with free parking on the side streets in the nearby residential area.Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair friendly“

“If your into dive bars, this place is a must!!! As soon as I walked in, the first thing that I noticed was the patrons. Everyone was in the their 'fave' seats, I was very particular about where I chose to sit. I sat down, none of the patrons barked or grumbled at me, I guess I'm in a 'safe' seat. I was very intentional about speaking to the bartender John and trying to 'squeeze' into one of the convos that involved the patrons. After a few drinks, I felt like the vibe in the room was loosening up. I asked John if I could take pics with my 35. He said, "There's no one in here with a 'side piece', take as many pics as you want". I made an announcement to the bar. I said that I would be taking pics of the bar only and these pics are exclusively for me. Everyone was Kool about it. But one guy insisted that I take a selfie with him. I was honored!“

“Wonderful find great Irish Pub, we were looking for a new go to after the Curragh closed down in the area and this is it, food was amazing my wife and I both had the Shepherds Pie and it was surprisingly good along with a some tasty homemade brown bread, along with the perfect pour of Guinness the vibe and feel of the place was great the service was great even on a Saturday night..great job guys,5 stars all around, our first visit and won't be our last...☘️“
