We've got Savoy's top Mexican restaurants covered for you.
“One of our favorite places in Champaign, and we only recently stumbled upon the restaurant before hearing about the food truck. The tortas are to die for; grilled, warm, full of flavor, and delicious. They will occasionally try new veggies for the vegetarian version, which keeps things interesting:) Service has always been beyond pleasant! Highly recommend checking this place out however you are able.“
“as a student of the university of illinois, i can say confidently that mo’s has served me in every context possible. Whether I was sad, happy, stressed, drunk, really drunk, or really really drunk, mos has satisfied my nachos desire and i am eternally grateful.❤️❤️“
“My friend and I went there for dinner. The dining environment was comfortable, the serving people were all friendly and kind. We also saw some people celebrating with kind of traditional approaches, and I felt the enthusiasm as well as humanity of the restaurant! They have big quantities of food, and the prices were very reasonable. We both highly recommend this Mexican restaurant!“
“Best outdoor setting. Best service. Best food. Clean restrooms. At inside seating you can hear everyone at your table. NO very loud music. It opens at 10:30, which is appreciated.Do give it a try, it will soon become your favorite place to grab a snack, have happy hour or a long dinner with friends.“
“It is counter service, the food was incredible, and was pretty quick. I haven’t tried anything like this but my Colombian friends wanted to bring me here. I wanted to try a variety of things and got the Bandeja Paisa which had a lot of flavor and was delicious!“
“This is my 5th time here. I thought I already left a review but I guess not. This place is amazing. The wait staff is wonderful, professional and personable. Our waiter,Dylan, is very attentive. And to be fair to the rest of the staff, they are all great and attentive. The decor is colorful and beautiful ! I forgot to post this review and has since been here many times. Every waiter/waitress is good. Today I have Dylan's sister as a waitress. She is just as attentive and pleasant.“
“Always genuinely amazing food. Tortas are the best I've ever had. I think they pan fry the bread with cheese to get this really crispy, savory cheese layer on it. It's so good. Employees are always super nice and efficient too. Best prices in town as well. 11/10 I've brought every friend who's visited me to this truck.“
“The food itself was really good in general, minus the salsa tasting a bit too sweet and the guacamole including some external parts of avocado. The best part was the fresh cactus! ? They cut it up and grilled it. It is not pickled cactus. I appreciated the garnishes on the tacos, too! Prices were fair, but the service was a bit slow in terms of drink refills and bringing us the check.Vegetarian options: There is a large vegetarian selection. If you have never tried grilled cactus, then this is the place to have that experience!!“
“The verde sauce is the best I have ever had anywhere. Get a cup per taco. Mexican style tacos are the go to here. We have tried everything on the menu. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t suggest. All depends on what you are feeling. My wife and I had this taco truck 5 nights in 1 week, they’re only open 6. We LOVE this taco truck. The best in CU, but we have a few great ones here. Fernando’s and Maize are great as well. But this for me is my go to spot.“
“So glad we decided to stay in Champaign and have dinner at Las Palmas on our way to Ohio. We ordered the El Volcan and it was visually stunning and delicious. I would go out of my way to eat there again. We highly recommend this restaurant and dish. The staff were so friendly and answered all of our questions. I have never seen El Volcan on a menu and we go to a lot of Mexican restaurants. Attached is a picture.“
“La Bahia is not your typical Mexican restaurant… it’s better! They have great seafood as well as traditional Mexican cuisine. I love the namesake food of the restaurant and also the tilapia. I’m excited to try out more cuisine when I return.“
“Amazing service. You can tell everything has a lot of love put into it. We tried a few items and everything was delicious. Pictured is a large Fruta en Vaso although it is still winter all the fruit was ripe and juicy. Will definitely be back!“
“This was a fantastic authentic Mexican restaurant. It has fantastic food and chips and salsa were brought to the table. We went mid afternoon around 1 and it seemed busy and there wasn't enough staff to service the tables well. They were doing their best but I did have to get "to-go" containers by myself and the Wait for the check took a while. There were two people working the tables and there were about 7 tables going at the time we ate. Loved this place just needed more staff like everyone else does at this time.“
“Excellent food! I got a sope, taco, and corn, and all 3 were super delicious. I loved the red and green sauce too, nice kick to it (if you're a spice lightweight it might burn you a new butthole). Very pleasant people and great customer service.“
“I really enjoyed this restaurant. They have enough unique dishes on their menu to be just enough different than every other Hispanic Mexican restaurant that is in the area. The food was delicious. The salsa was very flavorful. The cheese sauce has flavor as well. We went as a family and you'll pay what you expect for a sir down restaurant. Every dish was great and the atmosphere was very fun. I would say my only complaint is that the seats are very close together and it was harder to get out to use the restroom. Also the higher chairs are not very comfortable.“
“Nothing but AMAZING!!!! I love their chips and salsa. ALL the food was so so delicious! The service was great and friendly too. We will be back!Vegetarian options: I had a "special burrito" I just asked for no cheese or sour cream. Making it vegan.“
“The food was delicious! I got some al pastor tacos for myself and a torta for my boyfriend! Similar prices to other trucks in the area. The owner was very friendly and told me about how he recently opened his truck! Very sweet person and gave me a punch card with 2 (out of 5) punches for my next visit!“
“This is a hidden gem for authentic Mexican food. Not a lot of seating, but great food and service. My wife and I stopped on a Sunday night and got a table right away. House made chips and flavorful red salsa were brought to the table. They had many margaritas and beers, as well as horchata. My wife ordered a fish taco plate that came with rice and beans. She asked for black beans, it was all amazing and fresh. She really liked the creamy chipotle sauce on top. We ordered spicy guacamole for the table and asked for some verde salsa. Both were awesome. I ordered three enchiladas, one red, one green, and one cheese with pastor, chorizo, and barbacoa. I wanted to try a variety, and they were all awesome, barbacoa was my favorite. This plate also came with rice and beans. Our server was very nice and helpful! We will be back.“
“I love the weekly special, especially their South Indian spl on Wednesdays. very authentic. But I feel very expensive for the quantity offered. Recently ordered mini samosa Chaat and was disappointed. sweet sauce, yogurt and the sev were missing.“
“The staff was friendly and attentive! We were given chips and salsa right away and also given a refill on them as we were hungry when we arrived. The margaritas are huge and tasty, the food was filling and delicious. It was an all around great experience!“
“Had a lovely first visit to Casa Margaritas tonight! We had a party of 7 that was easily handled, which was awesome! A few ordered margaritas and they all proclaimed them to be excellent- we got a half pitcher of lime and half pitcher of mango. Started with some queso dip and chips and salsa, and then I ordered a chicken Fajita Quesadilla. You may see from the photo that there was cheese on the outside, which was quite, well, cheesy! The menu was longer than that first page, but I'll have to come back to photograph it. The interior was very colorful with lots of "Margaritaville" signage, but clean and friendly. Check it out if you want a tasty marg!“
“This place is a gem. I can't recommend them enough. The carnitas nachos supremos are probably my favorite. If you're looking for Mexican food in Champaign, this is the place I would go. There is only maybe one dish I've had at a place downtown that I liked as much as Mo's.“
“Very good food! They didn’t have all the lids off so I wasn’t sure what everything I could put on my burrito. All toppings were by mouth and it was kinda hard to understand. Anyways, incredibly good food no complaints there. Love that there is no price tack on regardless of what is on your burrito. One other drawback is there is no seating and there are really no parks in Champaign Urbana which kinda sucks.“
“Have been here multiple times since I moved to savoy and have always had a good experience. Food is always hot and served fast. Only downside is that service is hit or miss, sometimes you get A+ service sometimes you get a server who doesn't care.“
