“Place was old school with workers who have been there for several years. It was fun to listen to the old timers banter each other and the regulars. The food was okay, not the traditional gyro but huge portions of meat and onions if that’s what you’re looking for.“
“Worth the wait and must try! Beautiful and unique venue in the unassuming town of Des Plaines. Our server was kind and welcoming, food was delicious, drinks were fun and tasty. The only two items that were less than ideal, the horrible acoustics (incredibly loud) and although it was too on my list to try, the chicken shawarma rolls were underwhelming. Even with those two items, the great service and food quality it's still worth the 5 star review. We sat upstairs, which very much appreciated, being out of the hustle and bustle of the downstairs. Looking forward to trying the brunch and the outside patio... overlooking the water.“
“Always welcoming atmosphere, best "burek" and "cevapi u lepinji" in town. Always quick and fresh.I always feel welcome, the hosts are always in a good mood.Cevapi in a bun like at home! Excellent! Burek is always freshly prepared.“
“Stopped in to pick up a take out order while I was at the brewery next door and had a great experience. I had lentil soup and falafel, both of which were delicious. The prices were really good, under $15 for both including a tip, and the server was friendly and sincere. I'll definitely be back!“
“I just love the ambience, vibe overall, and the space. The drinks are fantastic, and the food is well prepared and diverse. I love that this location is in Berwyn right in the center of Cermak and ready to provide great food and good times for those in the surrounding area.“
“Great authentic middle eastern food. I tried the chicken kabob bowl. The chicken was very tender and everything was delicious. Perfect sized portion as well. The falafel is also delicious. Service is fast and organized. Support a family owned business!“
“Have a designated driver because you will not want to stop eating. The food is DELICIOUS. I highly recommend their season pita chips with the garlic sauce and the BUTTER CHICKEN ?. Their staff was super welcoming and friendly- note this was my first time so they gave an a walk through about how it goes here. They ran out of their way to help me with loading my vehicle because I am one to refuse two trips lol. They have an AWESOME lunch special so go BEFORE 3 PM! Thank you team at Pita Bowl. I. WILL. BE. BACK.Thank you for supporting our nonprofit and thank you for your commitment to community engagement! :)Cheers!Giselle @ Skokie Chamber of Commerce.“
“I was searching for a new location for Mediterranean food to try with my best friend and I found this restaurant. We came close to 8 pm, and it was a slightly chilly day. The owner of the restaurant was so kind, humble and so generous! Since we were the only people in the restaurant, he definitely made sure that we had a welcoming experience! He gave us complimentary lentil soups, and it was delicious, hearty, and filling. I would definitely come more often for the soup, and he gave us so much food! I ordered the chicken shawarma by itself, and the flavor of the chicken was delicious, and the condiments it came with were delicious, too! I will definitely be returning! The owner takes the time to make sure his customers are satisfied and he is hardworking and passionate, and he puts a lot of commitment and time into being the owner. The owner's kindness definitely made us feel cared for that day.Parking: Parking may be tight at times“
“This restaurant attracts many people even living far away with its unique finger-licking dishes. In this case, I must highlight one person in the management of the internal system of this restaurant - Nazmibey! Also, the restaurant manager Mr. Cikhat stands out with his friendly character. A few days ago, we had dinner with my Korean friends. It was great, we were so pleased with the services. 1000 STARS to 1000 Tales restaurant⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“
“Papa Chris is across from the Leaning Tower of Niles if you know where that is. It's a typical older family-owned joint. My kinda place. The folks were friendly and the prices were great. My gyro was filled with really tasty meat but the tzatziki sauce didn't quite do it for me. A little bland, maybe. More cucumber, less yogurt. Something.Anyway, everything else was great. Thumbs up.“
“They have a new location! They moved from their old one. The new location is at 1935 lincoln park west. They replaced 'Mesa Urbana'.The food as always is perfect! Seasoned well, cooked tender and juicy, and incredibly large portions! If you like Mediterranean food, this is a absolute must if you're in chicago! The included pixtures are the shwarma fries, hummus, and beef shawarma atop rice!(for some reason I cannot inclue my pictures? I'll edit if It decides to work again)Everything that leaves this kitchen is absolutely divine, and I cannot offer higher praise for a restaurant.Parking: Free parking! Plenty of room“
“Always going and checking new restaurantsAround Chicago and around USA in generalThis place is the best ,Quality and freshness of foodThe atmosphereThe servers , owner is almost always thereThey really care what they serve how you like it not just making money on youThe Bronzino Fish BeeeeeestttttHard to put in words amaizignessss“
“Outstanding Dining Experience at Wild Pita RestaurantMy recent visit to Wild Pita Restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. The food was superb, offering a delightful array of Mediterranean flavors that left me thoroughly impressed. The service was equally commendable, with the staff providing attentive and friendly assistance throughout the meal. From the welcoming atmosphere to the knowledgeable staff, Wild Pita Restaurant truly exceeded my expectations, making it a must-visit dining destination for anyone seeking a memorable culinary experience.“
“This is a newer spot near me that I recently discovered, it overs a different variety of food to the area. Will fulfill that middle eastern craving close to home and they offer other menu items for those not brave enough to venture. Have been here a few times and it doesn't disappoint.“
“Great food... been a while since had good mediterranean food. Had the mix plate, meat was soft and rice was just right.Latif took care of us while we were dining. Such a great person, he welcomed us in, took care of us during dining, and when leaving he made sure we had our food packed and made kind farewell.Overall - good food and excellent service.“
“Delicious food, attentive service and fun cocktails. Environment is a little loud, but all of the other positives outweigh that. I recommend the Duck Sausage Flatbread, Roman Gnocchi, Croquets and Chimmichurri Pork Belly. But really everything we ordered was great. Had an amazing time celebrating my birthday there. What a special gem in Berwyn!“
“Traditional Greek restaurant packed at all times with regulars and families. $15 corkage fee and large traditional Greek menu selection. Always packed, loud, and a wait but the service staff hustles to keep turnover moving. They do a good job on the show with flaming saganaki and flaming Bougatsa dessert. Whole grilled fishes- Sea Bass, Sea Bream, & Red Snapper expertly prepared and deboned tableside with preservation of head & tail for display. Ample bread and olive oil to start- will not leave hungryParking: Pretty much have to valet here“
“Been here a few times and absolutely love the environment, so cozy cute and just simply a wonderful place to bring your significant other for a beautiful dinner date! Also food is zabiha halal and truly authentic Turkish! Chicken doner is amazing and so doner kabob mmmm!!!“
“This was my first time trying out Morrocan cuisine. It had very good reviews. The inside was very beautiful. They had an adequate amount of seating. You can find street parking nearby. Service was good. Prices were standard for being in Chicago. Portion sizes were sufficient for two people. We ordered lamb fez and merguez. They were equally very tasty and filling.Lamb fez has a big piece of lamb in a stew with prunes, cinnamon, almonds, and honey. Hard boiled eggs are served with it. The lamb was cooked well, meat was very tender and juicy.Merguez is a dish with homemade sausage stuffed with ground lamb and beef. They’re on top of couscous and vegetables. Sausage was bursting with flavor. Lamb and beef is such a great combination.“
“Very authentic Mediterranean food with an Iraqi influence. I went with my friend from Iraq and he knew exactly what to order. (We ordered a lot so he could show me the menu) The ground beef kabobs were perfectly prepared and delicious. The beef shawarma was nicely charred and very good. I'm not a big fan of Baba Ghannoush but this one was very good. The hummus was fantastic too. I've had better falafel though. I would not have typically ordered okra soup but I'm pleased my friend ordered it. It was amazing. I'd pass on the white bean soup though. The server was from Iraq and the place is small but if you want authentic cuisine, this is your place!“
“Went for a late dinner. Food was excellent - tastefully seasoned. We shared a sampler plate and all the meats were cooked perfectly. I usually am very picky when eating chicken at restaurants but the chicken was very delicious. The falafels were fresh and delicious as well. Service was attentive and speedy.“
“I love the swanky decor and the food and service was amazing. I had the short rib risotto and it was delish. My date had the giant pork chop! The craft cocktails were great, too. Be sure to save room for the limoncello tiramisu! Light, airy and refreshing. It’s also great that Stage 119 is connected to the restaurant - dinner and entertainment all in one. Highly recommend this place! I’ll be back for sure.“
“I have a towing business and don’t get to the north burbs often but as soon I get the call my first thought is “ Yes…Pita Inn”” !!!” Always the same…excellent and consistent. Have the same five grill guys forever smiling because they know they are making everybody so happy. Mixed grill lunch special is best in Chicago. They already had bout 10 tables just after opening at 11am on a Monday…that says it all…“
“During an unexpected additional day in the city caused by a cancelled flight leg, I ended up at a hotel near ORD. On a whim, I visited Sultan for lunch, a restaurant about which I knew nothing beforehand. It turned out to be an incredibly pleasant surprise. The food was remarkably fresh, brimming with flavor, and all at a very reasonable price. Fayez, the owner, personally takes care of his guests, and his hospitality is truly outstanding. His commitment to providing a memorable dining experience was genuinely touching and highly appreciated. So impressed by the warmth and quality of my first visit, I eagerly returned for dinner the same day, further making Sultan a highlight of my extended stay in the city. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. If it were possible, I would give it 10 stars!“
“Hidden gem, this is a small restaurant. Take out always hits the spot! Great hummus and I recommend the chicken shawarma platter. Their garlic sauce is great, I love the chicken pita ?. I frequent this restaurant and their quality of food is great.“
“Great place, I celebrated my 40th Bday there, food was delicious service was super friendly and did a great jobMusic was great for all our multicultural guests I think they are the best Europe style music band in Chicago areaWill come again and again ❤️“
“Ordered a beef schwarma dinner with a yogurt cucumber salad and coffee. My dinner was excellent. Our server went above and beyond, was warm, welcoming and polite.. And overall the atmosphere was nice. Only complaint is there was a considerable draft of cold air everytime the door opened.“
“We had a reservation for 7 for a birthday and Alex was our waiter. We couldn't have had a more wonderful time. Alex was attentive and kind and the food was phenomenal. We enjoyed their signature cocktails and wine, and they also helped us with choices for a younger member of our party who preferred simpler fare. Truly a fantastic night.“
“Greek Food!We love the stuff and enjoy coming to Plateia whenever we’re in the area. We enjoyed the previous Greek restaurant that was located here before, and luckily found that Plateia pretty much carried on where “Periyali” left off.We love the grilled octopus and grilled calamari - both of which can be hard to find. Most places only serve breaded, deep-fried calamari. The souvlaki (skewers) are also quite good. The dips are a great appetizer, and of course you MUST have a few bottles of Greek wine to accompany it all with.If you’re looking for a meal that is tasty AND fun - this is the place to go!“
“The owners made me feel like I was a regular, and had been going there for years.., but it was actually my first time eating there . The Lemon chicken soup was the best I've ever had! Went back the next day to bring some home to Missouri. (Here on vacation and wanted to share with friends when I get home) I will definitely be back. Ohh and the homemade bread they serve with the soup came out of the oven while they packaged my soup to go, and it was warm and sliced for me on the spot. It doesn't get better than this family owned hidden gem. Thank you Grapevine, I'll be back next time I visit!“
“First time here, had the chicken shawarma pita, and it was pure perfection. Light flavorful, fresh and actually felt satisfied after I ate. Was craving an Arabic type food experience today and this hit the spot perfectly. The Tahini sauce was delicious. I also ordered a side pita and a side of hummus as well. The pita was warm and soft and that hummus had me licking my fingers. I love the food here and I'll be coming back for sure. Service was great and atmosphere was clean, with light ethnic music playing in the background. All perfect and unexpectedly enjoyable. I love this place.“
“Jerusalem cafe has the best falafel, fresh hummus and tabouleh. My daughter had beef shish kabob and was very happy with it. The prices are very reasonable. Parking was a little problem, but since weather was not too bad, waking through downtown oak park was fun.Vegetarian options: Their falafel is the best I had“
“Has so many choices of food from sandwiches to sea food and regular grill food ! The only thing Abt the Italian beef it wasn't as proportioned in meat compared to Portillos for example.. Great service and lots of seating to your comfort! Will definitely come back to try other meals !“
“Title: A Delightful Experience at Amante BakeryI recently had the pleasure of visiting Amante Bakery and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I stepped into the bakery, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The smell of freshly baked goods filled the air, instantly making my mouth water. The star of the show was undoubtedly their Miodovnik cake. It was a true masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Every bite was an adventure of rich honey, aromatic spices, and layers of moist cake. It was obvious that a lot of care and craftsmanship went into creating this delectable treat. What made the experience even more enjoyable was the owner's Daniela dedication to customer satisfaction. They truly made me feel welcome and valued as a customer. Their attentiveness and willingness to answer my questions and provide recommendations was a testament to their passion for their craft.Overall, my visit to Amante Bakery was a memorable one. Not only did I have the opportunity to indulge in their incredible Miodovnik cake, but I also experienced a level of service that went above and beyond. I highly recommend this bakery to anyone seeking a truly exceptional bakery experience. I will definitely be returning to Amante Bakery for more of their delightful creations. “New favorite middle eastern/Mediterranean cuisine. This is a family owned and operated local restaurant that makes amazing food and is full of kind and considerate individuals. My family has a small business so I can say from being on the inside, this restaurant is worth frequenting, if not for the amazing food alone then also for the considerate owners. Great job guys. We will be back(:“
“when i you this is the best chicken shawarma and roasted potatoes and salad i ever mf had…seasoned is an understatement. everything was packed with flavor and i think my only regret is not ordering more chicken. how can i marry into this family to get the recipes?Dietary restrictions: had vegan and vegetarian options“
“I was nearby running an errand when I spotted this place and took a chance and it paid off. The chicken shawarma sandwich was delicious. It took sometime to make but was really tasty and fries were crispy and hot! The lady took care of my famished tummy and was very sweet to talk to. Highly recommend it if you’re around.“
“This recently opened Middle Eastern restaurant is a find. Located on Diversey there is actually on-street parking. Chef Isabella has 20 years of experience preparing middle eastern food, and she presents it with flair. Four of us visited the restaurant and enjoyed family-style service whereby we could sample everything. It all began with a turnip and spinach soup with a distinct lime flavor. Then Isabella presented us with a large platter of appetizers including the freshest tabouli I have had, and I make my own! Then came the entrees: a large plate of lamb and ground beef and a second plate with amazing seafood, the most delicate sea scallops, salmon, shrimp, and so on. Vegetables were the king of both plates, with fresh red peppers, onions and cucumbers, among others. All of this was accompanied by a tray of sauces, each with a special paring in mind. I am not a dessert person, but the delicate chocolate mousse surrounded by oodles of the freshest fruit was fabulous. I ate every bite. I look forward to returning to Café Habibi. You shouldn't miss it.“
“I really enjoyed my birthday dinner here.Food was delicious as we ordered a fatoush salad & steak kabobs. It was mouth watering delicious!!! It was great Mediterranean food. Service was really good too. I will be back in the very near future...this place is a hidden gem for sure!“
“Shemroon is my go-to spot for the most authentic Persian cuisine in the city! Their koubedeh and joojeh kabab are unparalleled, boasting rich flavors that keep me coming back for more. Not only are the portions generous, but the prices are also reasonable. The staff are always friendly and attentive, ensuring a great dining experience every time. I highly recommend Shemroon to anyone craving delicious Persian food!Vegetarian options: na“
“The food was absolutely delicious. Calamari came out quickly and was very hot. The hero was tender and juicy, as was the pork shish kebab. The only thing better than the food was the service. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, who engaged in conversation, and was very warm and welcoming. I would definitely go back.“
“The tapas selection is excellent. Each comes with ~3 servings, and there is something for everyone! Highly recommend the stuffed Spanish peppers and pork medallions. Service is spectacular - they don't judge how bad your pronunciation “
“I ordered the shish kebab, kufta kebab, and chicken shish tawook to share for lunch. Everything was ready in 15 minutes. Each dish was served on a bed of golden rice with a small salad on the side as well as a tasty homemade sauce. I asked for a couple containers of hot sauce as well. These are the best skewers I've had. Everything was tender and juicy, especially the lamb! I hope they bring back the lamb chops platter.“
