“A Culinary Masterpiece: Exquisite Beef WellingtonI recently had the pleasure of experiencing the epitome of culinary excellence at shallots. Words can hardly encapsulate the divine delight that was their Beef Wellington. As a seasoned food enthusiast, I've traversed the (kosher) gastronomic landscape far and wide, yet never have I encountered a dish as sublime as this. From the moment the plate graced our table, it was evident that this was no ordinary Beef Wellington. The golden-brown pastry shell, flawlessly crimped and glistening, hinted at the delectable treasure hidden within.Upon slicing through the delicate crust, I was met with a succulent medley of flavors. The tender, melt-in-your-mouth beef, perfectly cooked to medium-rare perfection, nestled amidst a symphony of earthy mushrooms and rich, aromatic duxelles. Each bite was a harmonious fusion of textures and tastes, leaving me utterly spellbound. But what truly elevated this Beef Wellington to legendary status was the chef's meticulous attention to detail. Every component was executed with precision and finesse, culminating in a culinary masterpiece that transcended mere sustenance. As I savored each exquisite morsel, I couldn't help but marvel at the chef's ingenuity and dedication. This was not just a meal; it was an experience—an unforgettable journey through the realms of taste and indulgence. To the chef behind this culinary triumph, I extend my sincerest gratitude. You have not only created the best Beef Wellington I've ever had the pleasure of tasting, but you have also crafted one of the top five dishes I've ever been served. Tonight, you should go home with your head held high, knowing that you have left an indelible mark on my palate and heart alike.“
“This is the first time we have been here. Our friends invited us. We loved it. Most delicious steak and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend and ask for Jasmine. She is the very best server in Chicago area. Also see Zach at the bar; very friendly and fast.“
“Pleasantly surprised. I didn't do any research ahead of time, and just took a chance. Wow the sushi roll was out of this world. Crunchy prawn, seared wagyu, and trout caviar. The ramen with pork belly topped that even. It's all about the broth and wow, deep rich taste that I could smell how it would taste before I tasted it. Everyone in my party loved it, and said it was unique, and we go to a lot of ramen spots. Well done!“
“A great, intimate steakhouse with amazing food and great service. I came hungry and was not disappointed. I ordered a steak with some bone marrow to compliment and the two large bones came on top and were a great addition. The house sea salt and bearnaise sauce were also flavorful and paired well. I also got a side of the truffle Mac and cheese. It has been a long time since I ate all my food so slowly from enjoying it as much as I did. I made a mistake ordering the strawberries and cream as it ended up being too much for me to be able to finish but it was an amazing dessert with an even better presentation! The wait staff was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great meal and really want to treat yourself!Vegetarian options: Fair number of great vegetarian options on the menu, especially for a steak house“
“In a town that has it all, The Patio stands out for its great staff, amazing atmosphere, and flavorful fare! It really started with the staff. From the time we walked in the door the staff was amazing!! Our waiter Dante was absolutely phenomenal. He didn’t rush us, gathered our drink order, and checked in at just the right times to allow us to make the most of our experience. We started with the French onion soup and Caesar salad. Both were delicious. The Caesar had a bit of its own flare with a soft boiled egg and fresh grated cheese. Next we had the tuna tartare. Fresh tuna coupled with wontons, sesame, and just the right amount of sauce. Our dinner entrees finished off a great date night in the big city. The filet was cooked perfectly and the lobster Mac and cheese had large bits of lobster and a crisp crumble atop a bed of melted cheeses! We can’t recommend the Patio enough! Overall a wonderful night we won’t forget anytime soon!!“
“First, and foremost - The Best Dinner I have ever had. Mixed Green Salad - Fresh, inviting and simple. Short Rib Beignets - To Die For! A Beignet stuffed with Braised Short Rib, brilliant. Tar Tare of Boeuf - What carnivore doesn't enjoy a good Tar Tare Ceci Bean Cavatelli - One of the best pasta dishes of my life. Escargot - Is it the snails that make it or the Garlic Oil you sop up with bread? Answer: Either one, just scrumptious. Ora King Salmon - Simple but the Tarragone brunne banc and caviar, and flawless cooking technique, makes this a top class seafood classic. 55 Day Dry Age T-Bone Steak - Cooked perfectly, well seasoned, if you have an issue with this steak, maybe you should of stopped and McDonalds for a happy meal. This in one of the best steaks in Chicago. Roasted Mushroom - Simple and delectable. Boeuf Fat Fries - Amazing, Hot and Crispy. Not a vegan option. BoeufHaus a must visit.“
“This was my first stop for dinner on my solo trip in Chicago. I dressed up, called and made a reservation. I arrived early and was seated promptly. The hostesses were very pleasant and welcoming. Yazmine was my waitress. You should request her as yours. She is very kind, attentive and offered great recommendations for wine, dinner and activities for me to do during my stay in Chicago.I had a glass of the Prelius Cabernet, Salmon and whipped Sweet Potatoes. The bread was also very good!“
“Hello, I came across your blog. The staff were friendly and although their English was limited, they explained things well and I enjoyed my meal. I asked for takeout, and they said of course they would, and it was a meaningful experience with my first steak in America.“
“Few months late! Came to Penumbra for Valentine’s Day and it was such a great choice. Ambiance set was really intimate, requested the private curtain area ahead of time and it felt like we were on our own place. Felt like a family owned place. The food and service were equally as good and on our way out an employee handed us a small rose shaped soap and thanked us for dining in. We had the bocaditos quesadilla which was the best version of a quesadilla we’ve had, shadow shrimp, a flat iron steak, and surf and turf. We ate/loved everything.“
“Gene and Georgetti's is a great place for a date night, birthday or really any celebration! The food is fantastic and the service is too. The pastas were all made in house and you can tell. The steaks are great, they have a nice crust and cooked to perfection. I also love the cocktails, the drinks I had were well made and very good. The atmosphere is also very cool and classic chicago. Overall we enjoyed every moment!“
“Chop House really impressed us. Excellent Steaks (prime rib, Ribeye, Mac & cheese). It was our first time visiting from Arizona & wanted to try something local. Chop house exceeded our expectations, all personnel went above & beyond with service & explaining menu options. Our waitress was awesome my kids loved how nice she was. (Forgot her name :( Carlos was also really nice & kind to us. I definitely recommend.“
“In town for business, went to The Capital Grille for a steak dinner. It was, oh, so much more! Ordered a cesar salad, new York steak, bone out. And the asparagus. The Cesar salad was delicious, with generous portions of shaved parmesean cheese. My steak ordered as medium rare, was absolutely perfect. The asparagus grilled with lemon wedge was a perfect complement. The dinner was perfect! I also ordered a Merlot wine by the glass, which was recommended by Blake, my server, who was excellent! She was so attentive and friendly! Almost all the wait staff stopped to ask if everything was okay and asked if I needed anything! The manager. Adam, also stopped and asked if everything was okay. The evening was perfect! I only wish my visit to Chicago was a more personal, elegant visit because this is where I would want to be! As if to show the elegance, I thought about having black napkins for guests wearing black. And then the manager, Adam, walked by with black napkins! Elegance is an exceptional quality. This should be a MUST for visitors who visit Chicago!“
“Awesome steakhouse in Rivers casino! We love Gibson's/Hugo's downtown, so it's always fun to go to this location at the casino. Steak, salads, cocktails, wine, desserts, all amazing! Service is great and the manager always seems to be around and checking in with tables. Always a fantastic experience“
“GT prime is my favorite. Honestly amazing foood. Great atmosphere. Really enjoyable. The beef tartare is my favorite. Steaks are always on point. And the chocolate soufflé is amazing. Loved the cocktails. My go to favorite dinner spot. Highly “
“The food was fantastic! The service was tremendous (incredible teamwork and passion)! The only issue I had was with the miserable little host/manager in the beige suit. One of the worst bedside manners I have ever seen from someone in the restaurant industry. He had a scowl on his face all night as he was walking around like a peacock. As my wife I were walking right past him on our way out, he wasn't going to say a word to us until I said, "Take care". At that point he responded, "Take care". ai guess I was expecting too much with a "Thank you".“
“My son had done some photography (OMWP Photography 2108 Armitage) work for the business and had tried the cuisine. Raved about it. Sent me photos. Hence why we were there tonight. I took him out. My pleasure. The owner Zyra gracious and caring. I had Potato soup that was incredible. A Chicken Tostada Zyras moms recipe and she made a couple changes the sauces wow! The steaks I had a Ribeye. One of the best ever. I have dined at all the high end eateries steak joints in the city. This place is a gem. Had to try the desert. We had a chocolate flourless fudge cake. We indulged. I wish Zyra and her husband much success. Jacob Kaufman and I will be back. Thanks, L. Kaufman DDS“
“Can’t say it enough, everything we had here was amazing! Started off with the (warm) seafood tower, which was incredible. Our server suggested one of the Wagyu steaks and that was amazing. Cocktails were great. Just everything. Epic spot.“
“Carson's was our first stop during a mini vacation and birthday celebration in Chicago and it did not disappoint! The portions are large enough to share and absolutely delicious! They surprised my aunt with a birthday treat, which simply made the experience even more amazing! We'll be back!“
“Loved this place!I highly recommend this restaurant. I had their main Steak File with mushrooms sauce , veggies and mashed potato, everything was delicious. The price is 100% worthy since you get good meat quality and good portion. The staff was very nice to us and very friendly.“
“We visited this amazing establishment last night and ordered the filet and the Manhattan strip for our entrées with a side of the mushrooms, and it was possibly one of the best steaks we had had. Our server and Jesse was wonderful, and when he wasn’t available home, there was another manager who came and brought items out, so there was no delay in service while he was attending another customer and socialized at the table. We dined outside on the patio underneath the heat lamp and lights. The Barn was the perfect atmosphere for our relaxing evening together. We were very pleased with all that we ordered as well as the service. We would highly recommend the Barn restaurant to others.“
“My husband and I went here for Valentine's day and had a very enjoyable meal! The shrimp appetizer was outstanding and my steak was great. Drinks were good. My husband ordered the tiramisu which was tasty but was quite small for the price. The tables were a little too close for comfort in the one room. Hope to come back and eat in the other room where it seemed the tables were spaced out a little more.We came here on a recommendation and was not disappointed.“
“I dined here with a buddy of mine last week. The food was great and the quality was amazing! Nice cuts of steak. Also had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was very welcoming and responsive to our needs. The lady who served us also had a cool personality and making sure we had everything we needed. The service is just as important as the food and they did very well so thank you so much!“
“Very good ambience, great customer service. Ordered rare plus bone in ribeye. Slight smell and coldness noted to the meat. Not to a point that I had to ask to remake the steak but enough for me to be slightly disappointed with the steakhouse signature menu. I ordered. Rare plus. Might be because of it ? But I ALWAYS order rare plus in all of my steak. No inside steak was cold. But I am very happy with the staff. I would return any time. It is a minor thing . Too bad they don't have draft beers on tap. That would have been perfect“
“Impeccable service, perfect old Chicago vibe, delicious large portions. I like my ribeye uniformly med rare with a salty sear and butter basted finish. Here I order the bone-in ribeye rare and asked them not to be shy with the salt and butter. Comes with a nice sear, decadent and tasty. You will want to gnaw on the bone.Kid-friendliness: High chairs“
“When I first heard about the beef teriyaki, I must admit, I was skeptical. Could it really live up to the hype? The answer, it turns out, is a resounding yes. From the moment the dish was placed before me, the aroma alone was enough to dispel any lingering doubts. The beef was tender, each slice glazed to perfection with a savory-sweet teriyaki sauce that was a flawless balance of flavors. It was accompanied by a bed of steaming rice and crisp vegetables that added the perfect crunch. The beef teriyaki wasn't just good--it was a revelation. It's the kind of dish that haunts you in the best way possible; you find yourself thinking about it days later, craving that complex harmony of umami and sweetness. This is a dish that doesn't just satisfy your hunger, it elevates your entire dining experience. In short, if you're on the fence about trying this beef teriyaki, don't be. It's a culinary triumph that deserves every bit of praise it receives.“
“I love Nisos and always rave about it, telling friends and people I meet that they need to go! I was here with my best friend having dinner, and it was her first time at Nisos. At first, the service was excellent. Our waiter allowed us to order off the happy hour menu with just five minutes left to spare. He regularly checked on us and was kind until the end of the dinner when I noticed the price of our drinks was not the price on the happy hour menu. When I politely told him the price was in accurate, he started getting really snarky. Apparently they hadn't updated the online menu prices. I was taking it back by his attitude because I was very nice about asking and understanding that the pricing was off. I don't think I'll ever recommend anyone to go here again and I won't be back any time soon.“
“We ate lunch at Michael Jordan’s Steak House in Chicago today. We were greeted with a warm welcome and the hostess helped us with our parking situation. Our server was friendly and quick. Our food was delicious! After our meal the valet parking department went out of their way to help us and we were so appreciative. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend eating here!“
“As a Chicago wedding photographer, Homestead on the Roof is a venue that captivates me every time I shoot there. Nestled atop a cozy rooftop garden, it offers a unique and intimate setting for weddings. The lush greenery and rustic charm create a picturesque backdrop for photos. The staff's attention to detail ensures that every moment is captured beautifully, making it a joy to photograph weddings at Homestead on the Roof.“
“Special occasions are even more special at Ruth's Chris! Top notch food and service! We had an issue and arrived late with 97-year old mom' Liyah went above and beyond and seated us in the private "Wine Room"! Martini was a great waiter, too!“
“I have never been to Longhorn Steakhouse. The food was good. Everything was cooked perfect and our service was on point for the restaurant being busy.Parking: Normal parking lot for this type of place. Plenty of spots when we went.Kid-friendliness: Family style environment“
“I stopped by this outback location while to have lunch while waiting for my hotel room to be ready as this restaurant is attached to a Springhill Suites by Marriott. Came on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm and it wasn't busy, so there was no wait to be seated. Ordered the wings (hot) with blue cheese dressing and a house salad. The wings that I received weren't the hot ones as ordered and they gave me their ranch dressing that comes standard with the wings. I kept the order they sent me and was satisfied. Other than the mishap in attention to detail in my order the food was good, and so was the service.“
“Service was good, food was great, drinks/food pricey but as expected, comfortable atmosphere! Recommend to anybody traveling through looking for a great steakhouse. The bar area was very comfortable for anybody not wanting to dress up fancy. Stop by and give it a try!“
“Had reservations for a Saturday night, the place was PACKED. The Server said they weren't expecting the volume they had and were short staffed. She made up for it. Hustled, the entire staff was hustling. The food was excellent, steak was perfection. All phases of the meal were on point.Give this vintage restaurant a try. There's a reason it's still there after all these years.“
“Absolutely an A+. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were going to have a great night. Staff were welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable, and cared for us and our experience. This is a Chophouse and their selection did not disappoint. Delicious! The Lions Mane mushroom appetizer was delicious and something we've never had before. We'll be back!“
“Food and service excellent. Steaks were prepared as requested. I tried bourbon tenderloin tips rather than a steak this evening and they were tender and very tasty!!! One guest in our party has allergies and the server was attentive to her needs A complimentary dessert served to guest celebrating her birthday. It was a delightful dining experience!“
“We enjoyed our fabulous dinner with outstanding service. We had our favorite crab cake appetizer with great cocktails. We both enjoyed pasta dishes that were amazing. Jules was outstanding. We also had tirmasu with amaretto after dinner drinks. Everyone there is great. Thanks“
