“We visited Crevasse on April 14, 2023 for lunch. They have been on our ‘have to try’ list for quite some time, but they recently changed ownership. The facility itself is wonderfully rustic and housed in a very old building that has a long history of varied uses over the decades. The beautiful drive along River Road is the perfect pre-meal gift offered to all who make the wise choice to visit. We arrived early (as we often do) so did not encounter any ‘lunch rush’. The menu is not extensive, but there are adequate choices to please most anyone, including a “kids’ menu”. We were immediately greeted and seated. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. They do a daily lunch special, and there were two options today. Each special includes a generous house salad as well as a dessert (with ice cream as an option) My wife and I each ordered one of the menu specials, with water as our beverage of choice. My wife ordered the crab cake and fried shrimp (3). The specials were served with fries. The crab cake and the shrimp were done very well with nice seasoning and full flavor. The crab patty had a good balance of crab meat and “stuffing”, and was delicious. I ordered the fish and shrimp plate. I was served two nice-sized pieces of fried fish as well as fried shrimp (3). The portions on the sides of fries are adequate, while not the over-sized type you often see when a restaurant is trying to ‘fill the plate’ and falls victim to the quantity over quality path. The fries were obviously hand cut, very freshly fried and delicious. My wife order the vanilla ice cream as her dessert. I passed on the peach cobbler, since I was more than satisfied with my meal and didn’t need the calories. Overall, we had a very positive experience and look forward to visiting again and inviting family and friends to join us.“

“There were a bunch of angry pirates inside while we were eating. They pulled their big old boat up onto the street and were blocking both lanes of traffic. They were fighting, spitting, yelling "Argh!" and stuff. A parrot exploded. One of the pirates hit me with his peg leg. It was super rude, but what do you expect from pirates? Doesn’t really reflect on the restaurant though. I didn't try the food. Brought my own lunch. Canned tuna. It was terrible. Dru's food smelled good though. Probably should get some oranges for the tables though, ya know, cause pirates get scurvy and stuff.“

“Our experience was nice. Love walking the grounds before and after to look at the pretty scenery. I didn't love my scallops this time. I also didn't love the seafood gumbo. I found them both a tad fishy. Wish I had gotten the beef salad. Bread and butter is always yummy. The red snapper special was very good. Drinks were nice and service was great also.“

The Turtle Bar Bar • $$

“This is one of my favorite restaurants. "Restaurant" is not the right word. "Experience" would be more accurate. I'll start with food. On the menu there is a pumpkin crawfish bisque that when I initially saw that combo I turned my nose up at it but decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did - unlike anything I've ever had! I'm always so torn. Trying to decide what to get. For a first time, or I would have to insist on the eggplant Napoleon. It's piled high with so much lump crab meat. I don't know how they offer it for the price it is. But the pork chop with the sweet potato, mash and brussels sprouts... OMG! The service is always great! You're given a basket of breads and biscuits for the table with a couple of butter options. The butter with the Steen's syrup is my favorite. on our last visit, we were celebrating a birthday. The birthday girl was surprised with an array of sweets. But as I said, this is more than just a restaurant, it's an experience. Plan extra time before your reservation or after so that you can view the gorgeous grounds! From the house to the gardens to the fountains to the covered archway, you're going to need at least an extra hour for exploring .“

“Stopped by here for lunch on the way to a tour of the Laura Plantation. Type of place where you order at the counter up front then take your seat. Mostly had crawfish and shrimp along with a few sides. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal.“
