“First hands down shortstop is #1 in po-boys i guarantee it beings that it's the longest place I've eaten my po-boys beings my grandparents lived i grew up 4809 Eagle st one block over I remember my mom and Dem sending me there to make groceries before they were a football shot they were a grocery store they did sandwiches in the back are on the side but then they went to all po-boys can't say I blame them best in the city and surrounding area they're good in quality quantity hospitality and service but let me just say this the people in there are sweet and kind is going to be and most respectful give them the utmost please and yes sometimes you'll catch one who may have a slight attitude but just know there's nothing towards you and it's nothing personal 2 minutes later they'll be the sweetest soul there is you got to understand that human too yeah but that's very rare short stop is apart of the city I don't know how my life would have been without them seriously there not just a restaurant they treat you like family especially if you are a regular and always come in there oh and I say this for me and most of everybody I know that goes there this is for the tourist and those who have never really been there you can not have a shortstop poor boy without a barques root beer I guarantee you and da family will pass a good time oh and yes I wanted to add it is a very family orientated and family environment again with all due respect is mind your manners and you will fall In love enjoy chef Mac“

“The most kind and attentive staff! We called ahead to see if it was hard to get a table of six and they told us it was not and to come on in. We showed up an hour later and they saved us a table. I was really craving this dish but was a bit nervous ordering because a review said something about no crab but lots of shrimp in their dish and posted a poor review. “After several visits, Desi Vega's has become our favorite steakhouse. Absolutely perfect steaks, sides and deserts. The only short-coming may be the stark, somewhat cold, atmosphere. The main dining room has some degree of old school steakhouse warmth with amber light from chandeliers. The upper level and canal side rooms have icy blue LED lighting from "too bright" recessed can lighting. The entire restaurant is devoid of any art, and the handsome built-in dark wood cubbies are empty, as if someone has just moved out! It wouldn't take much for a talented designer to add some much-needed upgrades to the decor. The food and service deserves to be complemented by first-class ambiance!“

“Absolutely a gem. Had no idea about this place, yet they have been a staple at Jazz Fest since 1977! We started with alligator bites but forgot to take a photo. It's 6 to a plate, and they were delicious, kind of like a crab dressing but made with alligator meat. Then we had salads while waiting for our meals. He had soft shell crabs with corn grits, and I had crawfish bisque. Oooo wee, someone's grandma is cooking it up in that kitchen! We had leftovers for the next day. We also tried the bread pudding because how could you not have a 5 star meal without it. It was a blend of a bread pudding mixed with a carrot cake. Scrumptious! We'll be back for sure. The staff was also an A+ super busy but very attentive to everything. Drinks were refilled without a blink. Dirty plates were removed in seconds.“

Hands down, the best prime rib I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for a place to host a large private event, I can’t recommend P&L’s enough!“

“New Orleans is nortorius for not separating checks. I find this very inconvenient to the customer especially when you have party larger than two. Then it's very embarrassing to see customers passing the hat to pay for their portion of the meal with cash trying to figure out tax and tip. Everywhere I've been, there is no problem separating checks. I've been to New Orleans and requested separate checks and the waiters seem confused and then it becomes a huge delay. It's sad this restuarant has good food and atmosphere with this type of service and doesn't make it easy for customers to do business with them. They make easy for themselves but not for the customers. Go figure“

She was running the entire dining room by herself during lunch, and I have never seen anyone move like she does fast, efficient, and all while staying friendly and cheerful.
