“We were 17 ladies (widows) this were mentioned when reservations were made and to our delighted surprise we were greeted with leis on our chairs, special placemats and colorful lights. But more thoughtful was the framed greeting that mentioned that even though our plus ones were gone, we had friends that cared and sharing a dinner together. “The most kind and attentive staff! We called ahead to see if it was hard to get a table of six and they told us it was not and to come on in. We showed up an hour later and they saved us a table. The food was authentic, fresh, hot and delicious. Our table had the lasagne, spaghetti and meatballs, Mr Ed’s special poboy and the stuffed seafood bell pepper. This was the most amazing food we’ve ever had. The hospitality was unmatched. Absolutely perfect! Come here for a good time, great food and exceptional service. “Absolutely a gem. Had no idea about this place, yet they have been a staple at Jazz Fest since 1977! We started with alligator bites but forgot to take a photo. It's 6 to a plate, and they were delicious, kind of like a crab dressing but made with alligator meat. Then we had salads while waiting for our meals. He had soft shell crabs with corn grits, and I had crawfish bisque. Oooo wee, someone's grandma is cooking it up in that kitchen! We had leftovers for the next day. We also tried the bread pudding because how could you not have a 5 star meal without it. It was a blend of a bread pudding mixed with a carrot cake. Scrumptious! We'll be back for sure. The staff was also an A+ super busy but very attentive to everything. Drinks were refilled without a blink. Dirty plates were removed in seconds.“

“We love New Orleans. Every time we visit, we eat at different places. This time, we tried New Orleans Food & Spirits.

The atmosphere is bright, airy, and friendly. The staff were so sweet! Everything on the menu sounded delicious. In the end, we ordered the crayfish stew, corn and crayfish soup, and hush puppies. All were yummy!!“

“New Orleans is nortorius for not separating checks. I find this very inconvenient to the customer especially when you have party larger than two. Then it's very embarrassing to see customers passing the hat to pay for their portion of the meal with cash trying to figure out tax and tip. Everywhere I've been, there is no problem separating checks. I've been to New Orleans and requested separate checks and the waiters seem confused and then it becomes a huge delay. It's sad this restuarant has good food and atmosphere with this type of service and doesn't make it easy for customers to do business with them. They make easy for themselves but not for the customers. Go figure“

“My husband's 60th Birthday party was held at The Max this past weekend! The new renovations inside look fantastic! Several of our guests commented on how great the venue looked and how clean it was! Thank you Bridget, Chris and Denise for helping us pull this together. The ease of set up, fantastic service and warm welcome to us and our guests made this event a huge hit! “Finally visited this place today. Yes, yes, yes! Their fried green tomatoes are the best I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend the gator poppers. Loved the thin fried catfish. Wow, we were so impressed. The atmosphere is very welcoming. Even had “New Orleans Royal tea” for the first time here. I’d give this place a 10 if I could. Definitely a great spot!

“I will start with the seating, it was a terrible make-shift area where they happened to place a table right where everyone passes including patrons, servers, and ancillary staff. The draft was quite annoying. Secondly, we were so rushed by the staff that it made us uncomfortable. They completely stopped serving or refilling our drinks. They boxed our food mixing appetizers. Tuna with spicy shrimp and BBQ shrimp with crab cakes. The flavors are very different but mixing them made one overpower the other. We decided to order appetizers to go and asked to box them separately. Thirdly, we asked if we could hold onto the menu as we like to order entrees to go for the work week. Our server, as we were discussing options with him, grabbed the menu and walked away with it. We were shocked. Fourth, we hadn't decided if we wanted dessert at that point so we asked for the dessert menu. The waiter, Chase, stated that he could just tell us the desserts and starts rambling off the items then stand there as we had to make a decision. We both opted for the cheesecake because we felt rushed and weren't able to view the menu. This experience has turned me off, because of the amount of money we spend or have spent, on making reservations here ever again. We will be looking into other options for our date nights. Sidenote: on another occasion we had made reservations and as we were walking to the table he was told to take his epoch hat off and as we looked around later in the evening we noticed men with baseball caps and other various hats at the tables. Last night as well. So is there a dress code or is it random?“
