“Wow! Wow! Wow! I've eaten at hundreds of soul and country food restaurants across the United States. This place belongs with the best I've ever been to. The chicken was fall off the bone tender and juicy. The flavors were fantastic and perfectly seasoned. The corn bread alone was worth the trip, piping hot, sweet, fluffy! I definitely recommend this restaurant if you want great service and better food.“

“great food, ample servings, expensive, but worth every penny we love their stuffed shrimp basket, but I do substitute the boiled potatoes with butter and seasoning on them for the fries the fries showed me nothing and I always ask for the slaw and green pickled tomatoes or they do not give them to you I also get the fried catfish, a pound with loaded potatoes, all that is very good And their ribs are nice and meaty though they are more like baked ribs, not cooked out back I get the loaded potato with those too because to us the potato salad and beans are just not veyr good Shanes is our favorite neighborhood place out here“

“First time going to 1938 Smokehouse was great!!! Staff super friendly and the beef ribs were great!! I purchased two beef ribs and one spare beef rib with two sides(greens & beans) was all good and dont forget the sauce!!! You will thank me later!! I'm definitely going back!!! I can't forget they also have snow cones with soft ice and great flavors. In whole I give this place a 10/10 and will try again“
“I travel for work and make a point to visit popular BBQ spots wherever I go. I went here tonight and got the three meat plate - Brisket, sausage and hot links with double mustard greens as the sides. Btw, be careful the serving sizes are huge. “The food is very delicious and cooked just right. The price was very affordable as well and the service was very professional and fast. Nat was very nice and courteous on the phone as he took my order. The restaurant has a very homey and loving feel to it . “At time of posting I've been here twice in the last 10 or 11 days(North Market favorite). Great old style BBQ joint. Parking is tight but quick turn over. Little cubby hole with 4 "privatish" tables and 2 little ones by ordering counter.Vegetarian options: not sure that there are any vegetarian items..even the beans are cooked with meat pcs ... probably why they are so good .“
“we have enjoyed dining in for years. The smoked meats are excellent although they do not have ham. Sides are good too, except for the coated fries. I go for the light plate now which comes with two ribs and several meat choices (there is a $2 upcharge for brisket for some reason). One bit of advice, bring a jacket because the temperature is always freezing since the old Dickeys era...“
“We had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer they were crispy and perfectly cooked. The catfish was great and the shrimp was well seasoned. In our waitress Kelsey was a delight.Vegetarian options: They had many side dishes including sweet potato fries.“
“One of the best BBQ lunches I’d had, ever. Fall off the bone, well seasoned(perfectly actually). The layout, as far as seating and menus and ordering and such was a little confusing but we figured it out. Besides, if the food is great, I’ll eat there again and again. I ordered the 2meat, rib and brisket plate with slaw and Mac n cheese. (The pic included was half of what the meal consisted of. (Had to take some to the wife) Meat didn’t even need the sauce (but it was amazing as well). Got to express all this to one of the cooks on my way out and I could tell that he really took pride in my beyond satisfactory experience. Thank you for the good memories!“
“This place superseded my expectations in bbq! I was impressed with everything from the homemade sauce to the potato salad. I had the 3 meat plate with chicken, ribs and sausage. My sides were baked beans and potato salad. Everything was really seasoned good and I was very happy with my conversation with the owners they are sweet and nice downhome folks.
