Ministry of Brewing Brewery • $$
1900 E Lombard St, Baltimore

“I popped in to MOB last week for a beer and to see the brewery. I needed a minute to take it all in- the space is stunning, and the scale of it makes ya feel pretty small! Once I realized that one should order at the far end of the bar, I got down to business and tasted a few beers: 7:54, Esmeralda, The Point and Wispy, settling on Wispy (a Hazy Pale Ale) for the duration- its probably too drinkable, if there is such a thing. I am an IPA drinker, but enjoyed the Point and if I can go back at brunch-time, I’d probably order the Esmeralda! The staff was super friendly, the beer was delicious, and combination caused me to stay longer than for “one beer” requires. I live a few thousand miles away, but will definitely revisit Ministry of Beer!“

“They aren't kidding when they say if you can only stop at one place for crabcakes while in Maryland try Faidley's.The crabcakes are massive and to my surprise pretty much entirely crab meat. Not a bread patty with a hint of crab. The side portions are generous and definitely shareable for smaller appetites. It is quick service cafeteria style. You run your foor tray along the railing, place your order, and leave your tray for them to set your food on. The system wasn't explained for first timers so I inadvertently walked off with the empty tray.I didn't try the raw oyster bar but there were many patrons gathered enjoying themselves. You can also buy fresh seafood or order menu items in bulk to take home. The macaroni and cheese was delicious and the steak fries were standard fair. The restaurant is small, seating is limited and fairly close quarters. The sloping of the floor may also make it difficult for patrons with mobility issues.Overall really enjoyed it and highly recommend as a treat if you're in the area.“

“Old Major is a rare and precious gem. The ladies who run the operation are so gracious and thoughtful! Everyone is made to feel welcome; and appreciated. The food is amazing, and the drink selection is huge! Old Major provides the kind of hospitality that used to be practiced more widely, but now is found only in the most special places. I feel fortunate to have found this amazing night spot!“

“A friend took me here for lunch and it was very quiet inside- it was a Thursday afternoon- which was expected! I got a Cuban sandwich and he got the Nashville hot. The presentation of the sandwiches was great. His sandwich was huge! My only complaint is that my French fries were cold and my sandwich had so much mustard. The service was ok- they were kind of quiet and not really enthusiastic. I really liked the pour system they had because it gave a lot of good options for beverages.“

“Y’all! I had the pleasure of going to 9Five Kitchen & Bar Friday, March 29, 2024. When I tell you this place did not miss a thing, I mean it. Location is easy to find, parking is plentiful, the staff are friendly and professional, the food is unforgettable and downright GOOD, and best of all, it is spotless! The bathrooms have seat covers with little mats in each stall. I think they check every hour because at no point did I find a messy bathroom. I had the pleasure of meeting the owners and gave them their flowers. I will definitely return and tell others, as well. They have earned our support!!!“

“This was a great atmosphere. We were visiting out of town and came across an event taking place at this bar. A cocktail bar crawl in the Power Plant Live area and this was one of the featured bars. We arrived about 1230pm and it was pretty empty, but the DJ was playing music and I was ready to party. Even if it was just my husbae and I, I was enjoying the vibe. As time went on the people started to show. Before we left, maybe 30 people were present. Our waitress and bartender mentioned the scene does not pick up until night fall. Nevertheless, we decided to order food here. I had the nashville chicken sandwich and my babe had tacos. We had an appetizer too - I cannot recall the name, check out the pics, but I do remember it was tasty. My chicken sandwich was yummy too! The cocktails - bomb too! I tried the featured cocktail, Irish Creme something - nah - def not my speed, but I did notice another chugging them down. Overall, this place is awesome. I left off one star, because I don't know how the night vibe is and just going off the bartender it gets pretty lively. But for our day party experience, we would definitely return and check out the surrounding bars next time. Not sure how the parking works. We took a Uber to and fro and didn't have any issues. Have fun ~ be safe ~ enjoy life!“

Wet City Brewery • $$
223 W Chase St, Baltimore

“Stopped by Wet City to watch the Raven's game. I'm not normally a football-watching kinda person and if I am going somewhere to watch, I prefer to stay away from the madness of Fed Hill or Canton, so Wet City felt like a nice alternative. It was packed! The inside is pretty cool with lots of fun artwork and colorful lights. They only have two small TVs which made catching a view of the game a bit difficult. Literally every seat at the bar and in the dining room was taken. Despite this, service was quick and friendly. I got the prickly pear slushie margarita which was pretty yummy. I also ordered a glass of their sparkling red wine which turned out to be canned. If I had known it was canned, I definitely wouldn't have ordered it. It turned out to be just OK. Sadly, they don't have any ciders here and only one seltzer option which makes the gluten free choices pretty limited. I did try a sip of the seltzer but it was oddly hoppy tasting and not to my liking. On this day, Big Softy was doing a pop up in the kitchen so the only food being served was that menu. His food is amazing and the pizza looked so good. However, I really wish I could've ordered wings or something that didn't contain gluten, so if you're going on the day of a pop up, just know their regular food menu won't be available. All in all, it was a fun visit (even though the Ravens lost) and I'd go back again soon!“

“I've been to the Federal Hill location several times -- I'm a soccer fan -- but went to the Mt. Washington location today for the first time. (We've gotten takeout a couple of times, but first time eating there in person.) Food was good, the build your own burger is the same process. Best burger I've had in the last two years, and the one before that was also from here. Nice to have the windows open. We didn't have a lot of time, I was there with my family for a quick bite before taking my daughter to her swim lesson, and the staff were very considerate. Not only were they kind enough to put my daughter's order in right away while we got ours figured out, but it was a bit after the lunch rush and not too crowded, and they actually changed some of the TVs to a Harry Potter movie for her. I would never have asked or expected it, but it was very thoughtful.“
