“This place defines the word community. I don’t come to places twice when in DC. This has become an exception to the rule now. The owners made me feel like old friends. The staff are courtesy and professional. I had an amazing coffee. Great beer the night before and watched the WNBA playoffs. I also watched the owner serve her community when someone most bars would throw out came in then one of the owners got up and got this lady some soda. Little things like this are impressive - yes this is a bar, but it is true community demonstrated live and In person.“

“My first time here. It's been a while since I had been out so for water me and my friends came here. The ambiance is cute. Very barrel like place. Especially if you are a whiskey drinker. The bottomless mimosas were a hit. Our waiter Mason was awesome. He assisted us with our many dietary restrictions lol. The manager even came over and chatted with us. I would definitely come back. Oh and we finished brunch off with a whiskey flight!!!! Yes a good time was had by ALL......“

“Food is great. I had the chicken Ramen and was surprised to see a full leg quarter in it! Very delicious. Also had the Brussel Sprouts and they were good. And don’t forget the Peach Green Tea *chefs kiss*. The wait was long but it was a Friday night. A small Bar downstairs that serves as a waiting “

“9/10Got the chicken sandwich (comes with fries) and a blueberry lemonadeChicken sandwich was nice an crispy, I took off the cheese bc I'm lactose, I would just say it needs a sauce (I added mayo at home)The fries I didn't really care for bc I hate seasoned fries but they weren't badThe blueberry lemonade was great ?Seems like a cool, lil cozy spot that may be a little unknown (that's a great thing for the locals ?) and it's black owned !!!“

“The ingredients are top-notch, but if you like or are accustomed to picking up a slice of pizza with your hand, prepare to be disappointed and challenged here because the pies here are consistently limp amd soggy. I live across the street and the few times I have ordered takeout pizza from this place, I go home and finish cooking it in my own oven. It's pretty damn tasty afterwards too.“

“I've always wanted to try this bar ever since it opened. We came on a Saturday around 9:45/10pm (it closes at 11) and it was very lively! The bar itself is small so it may be hard to get the bartender's attention but when you do, they are very efficient and helpful. There's plenty of seating in the Bryant Street Market food hall, so you can take your drinks away from this boisterous end of the market if you want to have a quiet conversation. We only tried 2 drinks, the mezcal and regular tequila margaritas, on this visit. The menu looks intriguing and I'd want to come back to try a few of their more complex cocktails. The food bites looked good when others ordered them, but they did seem small so you might want to order more if you're hungry or check out other places in the market. They have a happy hour as well, so I'll have to make a return visit to check that out!“

“We popped in to the Hawk n Dove after a busy morning touring the Capitol Building. We were greeted at the door in a reasonable amount of time. It looked like the restaurant was full, but they were able to get us a table near the kitchen - which is always fun since you can watch the buzz of the kitchen and wait staff hustling out all of the food orders. There is a lot going on here - busy bar, sports, news and trivia televised on screens above the bar. Witty T-shirts and memorabilia hanging on the walls. Generous portions, and upscale healthy food options in addition to the normal pub grub. We noticed that other tables had opted for salads and flatbreads so we did too. The personal sized flatbread was the perfect amount for one person. Nice combination of toppings and a warm soft crust. Salads were perfectly seasoned and dressed. Everyone in my party was happy with their lunches. Definitely would recommend.“

“This new bar in town is worth the hype. Everything on the menu is non-alcoholic, rivaling local wine menus at the largest and more expensive restaurants. They have a TV for those who love sports, and a family atmosphere ready for a friendly conversation. It’s the perfect date night spot, and Filipino owned and led.“

“Service was amazing when I went. I arrived literally at 10PM when their kitchen closed and my bartender still let me sneak an order of dumplings in. It was so worth it! My first time here and glad I found it. Cute cocktail bar with speakeasy-ish vibes with reasonable prices. Will def be back!“

“Not too welcoming in 2024, I applied there when they first came to the neighborhood . lot of white people, then I figured out why they didn't hire me you but you never know the Pearl and the oyster. I hope they change their practices. Expeditor could manage your time a little better especially when you got gumbo and salad, and then the barbecue comes out cold. It lessens the experience of having to take it home and warm it up. But those biscuits stop me in my tracks.“
“This place is intoxicating!! The decor is very Gatsbyesque! Totally cool private gin club speakeasy vibe. Went here for after dinner drinks with my girlfriends and it really hit the mark! The cocktails were gorgeous and delicious! I recommend the Gimlet. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. It was a perfect ending to our girls trip and I can't wait to bring my husband for date night!!! Highly recommend!“

“My colleague lives in the area and invited me for a drink and I had never heard of the spot. It was chill around happy hour, kinda empty. Classic dive bar. The beer was cold. By the second drink the place started to fill and it seemed like the male/female ratio was very lopsided to the female persuasion and at first I was like “cool”, and then I reeeally took it all in and started to wonder if I was at a gay bar (which is still totally cool). Maybe it was the vendor selling “Dyke” merchandise, or the fact that for once I was able to enjoy a drink without being bothered by strangers or crowded by yuppies. Either way the atmosphere was conducive to minding my own business and having a good time. The outdoor area is great. The upstairs had vendors with various art and wares they made. I have since learned that the event was actually “Dew Drop’s Dyke Party”. I would gladly come to another Tuesday “Dyke Party” if it’s always so chill (albeit not very diverse). The downstairs also had a bar and around 8 there was Christmas-themed live music of the R&B/Soul/Jazz persuasion. This crowd was substantially more eclectic and in my subjective views couldn’t be categorized as homogenous. Free live music in DC is unheard of so I was extremely gracious. My only complaint is that this is a dive in the heart of the dmv that doesn’t serve National Bohemian. But I have since learned that they allow dogs so I won’t hold it against them.“

“I had such a blast at Kick Axe Throwing!! There is so much versatility in the space and a whole range of options of things to do!!There’s giant Jenga, a bunch of board games, giant Connect 4, a bar with a host of fantastic cocktails to choose from plus so so much more. The music was also really on point and had me adding a bunch of songs to my playlist!!Of course, there is the axe throwing… Which I 10/10 would recommend doing. We made a reservation on the same day, and were lucky there were slots available!! Before starting we got a 5-10 min tutorial on safety rules and technique with throwing the axe , which helped A LOT & also made me super comfortable.I liked the energy a lot — there were a good range of birthdays being celebrated, dates happening, friends hanging out… It was an all round great vibe!! I’m looking forward to going back and maybe grabbing some drinks, food, and playing some jumbo Jenga!!!“
“One of my very favorite bars in DC! Funky, fun and gorgeous. Bartenders are all FANTASTIC. And you can count on a good dance party upstairs on weekends, with a rotating selection of DJs. Really great spot if you're looking for options - spaces you can enjoy a (strong) drink and catch up, and spaces you can get your groove on. If you're looking for a private event space - I also hosted my birthday here, and they helped make it the best night!“
“Welcome to the new Navy Yard bar inviting to to feel like you are in New York West Village. Striking an unexpectedly refreshing chord. Its excellence is undeniable, reminiscent of the enchanting vibe of Please Don’t Tell blended with a serene lounge atmosphere that simultaneously feels exclusive and inclusive. The menu playfully experiments with classic concoctions. I indulged in a Brookland—a creative take on a Brooklyn or dark Manhattan, a gem I've yet to stumble upon elsewhere in DC. It's intimate, it's trendy, and it's that under-the-radar spot everyone adores yet remains discreet. The creative genius and skillful craftsmanship of Andrew Hurn and Justin Cara-Donna infuse every detail, elevating this spot into a masterpiece of mixology and ambiance. Far from the glitz and the crowds, it's the ultimate destination for those lingering moments when the night is nearly done, but you're just not ready to call it quits.“

“This place is a little hard to find but definitely worth the effort. Great Mexican food and fantastic service. The servings are huge, I think the queso dip could serve 8 people. Margaritas were okay but beers from the giant cooler of beer were cold and refreshing.“

“Went for St. Patties day with my kids and it was a nice vibe. The metro rail car is so cool. All the staff were friendly and they even had a face painter! It is BYOF so there’s no food expect popcorn they make, but there are food vendors. It was pizza when I was there. Would definitely go back!“

Adding on ambience of light and Indian classical music, it is a sumptuous, great experience that lures one back for more. “After drinking all evening we came here late night and I thought it was good! We ordered loaded tots and they took forever so the waitress took them off our bill which was nice of her. Definitely very few GF items here but I got the steak and eggs and enjoyed it!“
“Nestled in the Union Market District, this open-air bar exudes a welcoming individuality. The bartenders create a friendly atmosphere, complemented by great music. The spacious layout, complete with an oversized skylight, provides a perfect setting to unwind with any-sized group. The bar's beauty lies in its hexagonal light wood design adorned with wildlife pictures, perfect for cocktail pics. The ambience is matched by the quality of the cocktails, which range from premade options to frozen drinks and freshly mixed concoctions. Whether you're catching up with friends or looking to meet new people, this spot is a dope spot in Union Market.“

“There was a fight snafu with service at the start/we were overlooked while people seated after us were waited on. As soon as we brought it to their attention the service was excellent and attentive, and they graciously picked up one of our appetizers. The food was out of this world. The warm hummus was sooo delicious!! The dishes were imaginative, beautiful spiced and presented. A really wonderful dining experience!“

“Foods pretty good, service is fine. But the main reason to come to the Nude Eel is the MUSIC. They have great bands. And they are careful to keep the volume down - I hate places where the music drowns out everything. I love this place and hope it will be there forever.“
“Had our 4th visit and it's been nothing but amazing, including their soft opening at the beginning of the year. I cannot say anything bad about the different ramen and appetizers I've tried, with now their Black Miso Cheese Ramen being one of my favorites. What I appreciate on top of this is the friendly staff who genuinely are all about making sure you're having a great time.“
“This is such a a great local watering hole. Prices are great, bartenders are even better. This place came highly recommended by local industry workers and it did not disappoint. If you truly want to experience DC, at some point you need to find yourself at the Pug.“

“I had a taste for Jamaican food and randomly found this restaurant in a Google search. Based on the reviews I took a chance and it paid off big time! The restaurant was immaculate! I would have no problem dining in if I were not going home. The staff was pleasant and answered my questions. I did not order in advance, so I had a short wait. But they had grown & sexy music playing so I was engaged and the time went by quickly. When I got home and opened my container, I was shocked to see the amount of food they give you. It was enough for 2 servings (would have liked a little more cabbage)! The food was DELICIOUS! The coco bread tasted like someone had just finished baking it! The beef patties were good. I had brown stewed chicken and my husband had oxtails. Both were outstanding. We also had carrot cake and bread pudding. My husband loved the carrot cake. Unfortunately, I did not try either. We have grown up our whole life eating Jamaican food and are very picky but this place is a winner! I immediately told my girlfriend about it. And we will be back!“

“This is my regular neighborhood spot. I've been coming for years. The staff have always been cool and it's just a comfortable place. I order the Tony's Breakfast sandwich and Granola Parfait.. “Service is much better if you're not dining solo -- I've done both, and believe me, it's a big difference. Menu is limited but the food is usually pretty good, if you can get someone to notice you're there. On my last visit, the only person who saw that I hadn't been waited on was a kind bus person, but I had already lost my appetite and left.“

“I have mixed feelings. It’s got that blind tiger / speakeasy feel with a tightly packed room and dim lights. I felt like I’d officially entered my mob-wife era (complete with my well-timed faux fur coat and chipping nails)The cocktails were great. And it was a nice stop over with friends on a night of casual low-stakes roaming. It’s also close to the Metro so you can drink yourself silly without driving drunk (probably not safe to be too drunk on the Metro either but at least you’d only be hurting yourself not others)I enjoyed the pictures of chicken (is the plural chickens?) all over the place and the chicken humor. The cons: We couldn’t order food as the kitchen had closed already, which I thought was fairly early for a Saturday night (around 10 pm).It felt a wee bit grimy for me. I went at night and might need to go back for a better feel.“

“Think Cheers but less grimy and with good food! I stay up the street when I’m in town and this is my goto for a solid meal with friends. It’s open late, the service is great, and the food always hits the spot - which they’ll customize almost anything for you.On any random night you’ll see anyone from college kids in athletic wear to US Senators in suits dining there. Not pretentious. Solid food. Great staff. Go check it out!“
“Jimmy's spot always got me feeling some sorta way. It's perhaps the best bar in DC for fools like me. It gets two very important things right: the sound system is magnificent (make my body move in ways I didn't know it could) and the drinks are spot on. And not to mention the DJs working their black magickry with their mixes.“

“My husband and I were at Lola’s on Saturday. I enjoyed the atmosphere and stellar service by Daria! Give her a raise, she works harder than any bartender I’ve ever seen and the man working with her was terrible, he was taking to guests while she was doing her best to try to serve everyone. We will be back for Daria! Keep up the good work!“
“I stumbled upon The Conservatory with little knowledge of its ties to Gravitas, which is in a building that was once a tomato packing warehouse , but I'm glad I did. Nestled inside a greenhouse, this casual extension boasts a modern and inviting ambiance. The concrete-colored bar adorned with green tiles sets the tone perfectly. One of the highlights? Stepping out onto the deck to soak in the captivating Ivy City view. Now, let's talk about the food. My taste buds were treated to perfection with the Chorizo-crusted scallops--a true delight. But the real magic happened at the bar, where Mike, the bartender, crafted drinks on the fly. The Giving Tree cocktail stole the show with its exquisite blend. In summary, The Conservatory is a must-visit. From its charming atmosphere to its stellar culinary offerings and inventive drinks, it's an experience worth indulging in. Highly recommended.“
“Service especially memorable, drinks also better than average “hotel bar” and the light bites were solid. 5 mins walk from Metro station. They have a happy hour menu 5-7! Outdoor seating looked good for when the weather warms up, will be back!“

“Good place to run and out. The drive thru can't handle the number of cars sometimes because of the way it's positioned.
