“You will not be disappointed. They have every meat you can imagine. Whether you want to eat healthy or get down right greasy. Go here!!! I got the trout dinner and my husband had the stuffed shrimp and crab salmon with kale and mac n cheese“
“The food is great. Has been going here for over 15 years even though mangement has changed several times, but the quality and quantity have not changed. You get a lot for your bucks. Prices went up, which is understandable since the Pandemic.“
“I hadn’t been here in years since they changed ownership. Looking at some of the reviews I was leery. Boy am I glad that I didn’t listen. Went here for dinner last night and everything was absolutely delicious. The fried chicken, fried catfish, lambs, crab cakes and sides of Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, collards, potato salad, and corn bread were all superb. It definitely tasted like eating at your grandmothers. The potato salad was just like my Gma’s; finely diced with celery, celery seed, and a slight tang of mustard accompanied by a slight sweetness. The collards are vegan hence no meat but were still delicious, tender, and flavorful. The drinks were delicious as well. The portion sizes were quite large with everyone having leftovers except for the lamb chops they were so delicious that my friend ate all of them. Matter of fact when she accidentally attempted to cut them with the wrong side of the knife it still went through. Couldn’t recommend more supporting this black owned business.“
“What a wonderful Easter brunch! Bottomless mimosa, omelette station, and a prix menu. Live jazz playing. Sax player went through the restaurant playing happy birthday for a patron.Line for omelettes did get kinda long early but then no wait later in the meal.Valet parking at $25 was kinda steep, but on par with all the others in DC.We will definitely go back for more southern cooking!“
“The food here passes the test! My friend and I stopped by the bar and decided to grab some food while we enjoyed a couple libations. I got the chicken wings, potato salad and greens. My friend got the fried pork chops, mac and cheese and cabbage. Everything was good. Trust me I am one of those people who don't trust everyone's potato salad or Mac and cheese. Everything was good, fresh and tasty. We will definitely be back. Oh, and the bartender was a doll. I can't remember her name but she was awesome!“
“If you view my other reviews, you know this native New Yorker is serious about great food, portion size and service. Right hand held high??, the BEST soul satisfying food ever in VA!!!. I've been searching and waiting for this kind of place for years, FINALLY the search is OVER!! Dear God bless the cook!! I can eat a small animal, but the portions are sizable. Cooked pan fresh to table in plain view, no stale leftovers or warmed over stuff ..JUST GOp.s. it's 4 pieces of fish, I consumed the missing one not show in the photo. It's take out, but you can also sit for a bit in their small but cozy seating area offered with friendly welcoming smiles?“
“True to description, it's a cafeteria in a church basement served by nice ladies. The portions are beyond generous for the price. I got a ribs meal for 15 bucks that's a good two BIG meals for me.Ribs were so good, meat just falling off the bone. Enjoyed the yams and the greens too. Didn't have a line when I went there at 11:30 on a weekday.Recommend for soul food on the area.“
“Well worth the drive!! While visiting the Great Wolf Lodge in Perryville, Maryland I was in the mood for some soul food. I googled a few place by looking at the pictures, so Henry’s soul cafe in Washington DC caught my eye, Plus I was going to be in the area. Food looked good but I had to wait till I got back to my room to eat because I didn’t go to the one with a seating area, No problem though lol but I was hungry. All the sides were delicious, i got the rib plate it was good and tender. My wife got the fried pork chop plate and she loved it. So much food we was eating off each other plate.“
“Have a serious issue when the cashier doesn't wash her hands and she goes into the kitchen to start preparing food. And then on top of it I seen pies that were out and I said could I get a pie off the sheet pan The young lady would not even sell me a pie. Been coming to this location for 20 years I watch the change and hospitality and service. Management, some of your cashiers have poor hospitality and they don't have an attitude of going beyond. I asked was a manager there and the young lady wouldn't even get the manager. Disappointed in this location.“
