“After a week of running around making sure my son had everything for prom I thought I deserve to treat. So I got a Sunday he got a two scoop phone. I haven't been to Baskin-Robbins and such a long time. Definitely worth the trip.And did I say the staff was incredible. “As a somewhat regular at the Tombs and having dined at a few of the many Clyde's Restaurants, I can honestly say that my expectations were nowhere near as high as to the level of quality that my friends and I enjoyed tonight at the 1789. In a word it was simply "AMAZING". The service was flawless, there were there when we needed them and mysteriously disappeared when we were set. Sometimes in fine dining the service staff can be hovering over us like Seagulls on the prowl at the Jersey Shore. We took our time to consume three courses and an enjoy a few libations. The dining room is intimate and inviting the fireplace was lit aglow, warm and comforting to sit by. The menu is adventurous but not contrived or so esoteric that we needed to google explanations so that we might navigate our choices. Presentations were elegant and simple with the emphasis on execution. Unlike so many trendy new places around DC seem to be awash in multiple concoctions that involve far too many syllables. The flavors were on point and the kitchen showed a prowess that must only come as a notice that it's all about the taste, the freshness and the seasonality that we find ourselves in. The New Bedford Seared Sea Scallops were delicious, plump and sweet. And the accompanying sauce just perfectly paired with the Scallops. The Escargot garlicky and salty. The only ever so slight misstep was with the Grilled Octopus, a wee tad rubbery possibly didn't poach long or slow enough to tenderize the tentacles before they were finished on the Grill. Our Entrees were all eagerly passed around the table and there was unanimous agreement that all four were perfect. We sampled the Lamb, the Halibut, Duck and the Wagu Short-ribs, whose taste and tenderness took me back to a similar experience 30 years ago at a small French Cafe in Newport. In my Humble opinion this entire experience was undoubtedly the finest meal I've ever been served in our Nations Capital. Reservations are almost always a must but trust me it is indeed worth the wait. Everyone got dessert because we were all part of the Clean Plate Club. Of particular note was the 1789 Pastry Chef's interpretation of Classic Carrot Cake. Reservations are highly recommended and be assured that you will leave with a delicious taste in your mouth and an overwhelming urge to plan your return to the "1789".“

“This is a cute little place with unique gelato flavors. We waited on a short line about 5 minutes. The staff is big and extremely agile. I was able to sample some flavors before deciding on hazelnut crackle and bananas foster. You can have two flavors in one cup. This is some of the best gelato I've had to be honest. It's just very expensive. My tiny maybe 6 ounce cup was almost $9. It's not something I would eat often at that price but a nice occasional treat.“

Had some cornmeal or something on the bottom. And the cheese was quality. “The menu had too many good options and I wish I could come here all the time to get through the entire menu. During this trip, we tried the ube milk and the mango yuzu black tea. Both with boba of course. The ube milk was made with real ube so it was starchy like a potato, thick like a watered down milk shake, and really delicious. It wasn't sweet to me, it felt like a dessert vs a drink. The real winner was the mango yuzu black tea. It was also made with real mango fruit puree and tasted like a mango fruit leather. Bursting with flavor from the mango and had a zing from the yuzu, it was the perfect drink for the warmer weather outside. The boba was also so soft and chewy. This was a true boba place. And it was literally ran by one guy. If I lived in DC, this would be my go to boba drink place for sure.“

“The much-anticipated sister restaurant of Purple Patch opened just a few weeks ago and I'm already hooked! It's a lovely addition to the neighborhood, offering a simple menu with a lot of flavor. The wagyu burger is nicely balanced, and depending on your appetite you can get a single to a triple patty. The ube soft serve with coconut is such a hit and the flavors are perfect. It's been really busy for good reason, so you might have to wait in line especially on really nice days, but service is pretty fast and they also have an order online link. Enjoy the outdoor seating on a nice day! Indoor area is small but very pretty, and stools with counter-style tables lining the interior. Very kid friendly as well as they have a kids' menu,' tables, and neighborhood kids' art on the walls. You can also purchase a few Filipino snacks like v-cut chips and boy bawang (garlic corn nuts), and they also have some canned non alcoholic and alcoholic beverages available. With the addition of Joia Burger, the owner Patrice really shows how much she cares about the Mount Pleasant community and is invested in it. It's a great spot to swing by for a quick meal and friendly faces!“

“Came here on a Sunday night for ice cream and had a great experience! Good range of flavors and a nice atmosphere. It was fairly busy, with a short wait before ordering and all the tables full. The small cup comes with two flavors and is ~$8. Pricey for the size, but it is expected for Dupont. “Wonderful options! Tried a flight of chocolate mint, strawberry, four oranges of the apocalypse ice creams and watermelon sorbet. I think my favorite for this sunny day were strawberry ice cream and watermelon sorbet as they both were refreshing after a looooooong run! I'd "ice cream" for Chocolate mint anytime as it's very chocolatey and minty. A hint of mint chunks are amazing within this scoop! You can't go wrong with this choice really! Four oranges of the apocalypse ice cream is nice and zesty. It'd be elevated with some orange zest! But it's smooth, light acidic and citrusy flavor. I'd come back to try seasonal flavors! “I felt like eating something sweet while sightseeing, so I went to this restaurant that has a high Google Map rating and many reviews. Visited around 11:30.We ordered chocolate, almond, lemon, raspberry and vanilla.What was especially delicious was the raspberry.It tasted amazing and delicious, just like eating fresh raspberries.Next time I go, I think I'll order the raspberry and chocolate + new flavor.There are 8 seats in total, including 2 counter tables that can seat 4 people, so you can eat in.We were the only people eating and drinking inside, but people kept coming in to buy coffee and baked goods.Unfortunately, the eat-in space is not clean.There were remnants of eaten bread and baked goods, gelato and coffee left on all eight tables.I thought this was really cruel.That said, the gelato taste was outstanding. “This place can get popping' with its limited parking but it's close to my house and they usually have what you're looking for. Street parking can be available if they have no space in their lot and they have a small seating section next to the line where you order. There are three windows you can order from but only the first two have the bar code scanners. I love this place and will definitely be coming more during summer time!“

“My mom and I stopped in before seeing a show at the theater across the street. The place was clean and smelled so delicious! The ice cream was sooo good! I had the gooey butter cake and texas sheet cake (which was dairy free) and both were some of the best flavors I've had anywhere. And the cones! The shop is located right across from the waterfront park – which makes it a great place to enjoy your ice cream. The prices are a bit steep but the volume is high, so I guess it is worth it.“

“We were staying next door to the Flavor Garden and came in for breakfast on our first day in DC, the service was good, the good was so good. I keep thinking about the scrambled eggs! They tasted freshly scrambled and made out of real eggs, and seriously the best eggs I have had in my life! The french toast and bacon were also good but not as good as those eggs! We returned that evening for dinner and my husband and I both had the burgers. They were the best ever! Great flavor and texture and so savory. Larry's is a small ice cream parlour on the lower level of a building. if you arent paying attention, you might miss it. The flavours of ice cream were very unique - i had never seen anything like this before. Obviously this is a small batch, hand-crafted artisinal ice cream. Oatmeal cook dough, Ginger (Peach, Brandy, Ginger) Pistachio , cardamom almond, and many others. We ordered a double scoop in a waffle cone. THe flavours were very good and quite unique. We enjoyed the ice cream very much. Quality ingredients, top notch flavours, and hand made - these things are worth paying a premium price for. The portions are a little smaller than you might get at some ice cream shops - but NOT compared to the big BR ice cream.“

“We visited Van Leeuwen on a chilly Sunday with a sweet-tooth and hankering for some quality ice cream. Suffice to say we were not disappointed. The interior is bright, welcoming, and we were allowed to sample multiple types of ice cream in order to make our final selections. They have a large variety of flavors available in the case, as well as to go pints of all the classic Van Leeuwen flavors. There were also 4-5 vegan/dairy-free options, which you typically don't see in an ice cream shop. I got the Planet Earth ice cream, which was a vegan ice cream made with spirulina tea and chunks of matcha cake. The ice cream was extremely creamy for a vegan dessert, and the matcha came through super strongly. It was unique and delicious! My partner got the Coffee Affogato flavor as a milkshake. This was absolutely phenomenal: rich, creamy, but not too sweet or heavy as milkshakes tend to be. Our only complaint was the pricing. My single scoop was $9, his milkshake was $11 (the milkshake was a pretty good deal in comparison!). Even so, we are excited to return in the warmer months and try some more delicious and unique flavors!“

They have chocolate cherry bark, plus holiday and special seasonal candy. Nice packaging too. Check out the CLOUD! It is a made-from-scratch marshmallow with a ribbon of caramel covered in chocolate.They also have chocolate covered pretzel rods, giant peanut butter cups. and chocolate covered oreos, which are very popular. There are many more candy items, too. If you can't make it to the candy shop on Capitol Hill, you can order online. My order arrived carefully packaged, quickly, and not any cookies were crumbled! My DC Landmark chocolate covered Oreos were delicious!Great communication from the company about the order - I knew exactly when it was arriving.“

“Maryland Dairy has been serving ice cream on the University of Maryland for 100 years. Formerly located in the Turner Building, its name has been simplified, and it is now conveniently and logically located in the food court of the Stamp Student Union. We were planning to have lunch after leaving campus, but we had to have ice cream first! The colors and names of the choices were attractive. The purple was actually blueberry with vanilla cookie pieces and cream cheese icing swirl. It was named after W.S. Arbuckle, a former university professor and author of a definitive book on ice cream. We also tried Terpresso, a double strength coffee ice cream with crushed Oreos and a caramel swirl named after the Terps or Terrapins sports teams. The Sapienza, which we were told is the customer favorite, was a creamy, rich vanilla bean ice cream with chocolate chips and chunks of chocolate fudge brownie, a smooth chocolate swirl, and creme de cacao. In recognition of Jim Henson, a prominent alumnus, and his Muppets the green mint ice cream with chocolate chips was named Kermit’s Kiss. I only regret not bringing an insulated bag so I could take home some pints from the freezer.“
