“Where do I start?? I completely enjoyed my experience at Scales from start to finish. They came recommended by two completely different people (a resident and someone who frequents the area) so after the second time hearing the name, it was settled. I had to try it. We had a short wait in the lounge area for the dining room to open and had a drink. The Lavender Haze with the pea flower infused gin was fantastic; Woke my taste buds right up! Our waitress was incredibly helpful and graciously answered all of my 784 questions to help us settle on what to order (everything sounded so amazing, I couldn’t decide). We settled on the grilled octopus for the appetizer and while in Maine, I HAD to get lobster. I have no regrets!! Everything we tried was phenomenal. After seeing other tables order the scallops, I would’ve loved to try them too but had absolutely no room left. I can say this was the best meal I’ve had in a very long time. When in Portland, Maine EAT AT SCALES!!“
“I was in the area on other business and this old warehouse building looking like it’s built with parts of wrecked ships that washed on at waterfront. I’m like what kind of cool building is this?? It turned out to be restaurant that I cant wait to try! I don’t know if they’ll let an old pirate like me in but I’m gonna give it try! Full review coming soon!“
“Exceptional lunch! Had the beautifully flavorful brown butter lobster roll, the special smoked smelt smørrebrød, and a whoopie pie. Everything was delicious and well-made. The smørrebrød tasted spot on to versions I’ve had in Copenhagen, it was a serious treat.“
“This is a really nice place with really great food, and the staff is so welcoming it just creates an astonishingly enjoyable atmosphere. Would give ten stars per category if I could. Drove up all the way from Texas just for lobster and this place did not dissappoint! Definitely worth the visit.“
“From the second we walked in the door we felt like old friends of this cool spot. The music was kickin' it old school, the drinks and food were stellar, and Andrew and Grayson made us feel special! Try one of EVERYTHING and you still won't find anything you don't like. My husband wanted lobster AND a haddock sandwich...what did Grayson do? Made it happen and thus the "claw fish sandwich" was born! I had the Jr surf and turf burger. My only regret is that I got the Jr portion and not the regular size. Get the fries with anything! They are perfectly seasoned and fried. This was our first time here BUT it won't be our last. Can't wait to try some new things on the menu. What's really a sweet deal about this spot is that they have a Jr. size of some of the options! When you want it ALL, but can't eat it ALL, you can still try it ALL! Psst. They have a GREAT homemade Bloody Mary Mix too.Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant and restrooms are compliant and I recommend a visit to the cleanest public bathroom you'll ever see!“
“Amazing experience. We called to make reservations the day of and they were fully booked but told us we could try as a walk-in so we did. We were very lucky they had three seats available at the bar when we showed up at 7:30pm. The bartender was very friendly and really made sure we had everything we needed. We started with a special for our appetizer, a cod fish mashed potato spread and it was DELICIOUS! My daughter has the seared tuna and she loved it. My husband had the linguini and clams and it was very flavorful. The portions were also pretty generous. My swordfish was also cooked to perfection. We would definitely return. The bar is in a big open lounge area so it was a nice setup. And everyone was very friendly.“
“The BEST place to get seafood in Portland. By far the best lobster roll with a hefty portion and fresh ingredients. The oyster varieties are always exciting, local, and shucked right there in front of you. Tons of different seafood and drink options that perfect for a casual meal or a more involved dinner. Chill and cozy atmosphere with the kindest staff. Such a special place!“
“Seating: ImmediateFirst dish arrival: 10 minutes, including all ordersI had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the swift service and exceptional quality of the food. Right from the beginning, the waiting time was nonexistent; our lunch was served within a mere 10 minutes of ordering. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the clam chowder. It was the thickest chowder I have ever savored, served at a perfect, steaming temperature. This dish alone would make me return. The fried calamari was crispy and flavorful, though a spicy mayo sauce on the side could potentially elevate this dish even further. The fried haddock followed suit, maintaining a delightful crispiness that was thoroughly enjoyable. While the prices were a tad high relative to the portion sizes, this is understandable given the restaurant’s prime location. Despite this, the overall experience was positive enough to warrant a return visit. This spot is definitely recommended for those who value quick service and quality seafood.“
“The paella is so good here and I am a self proclaimed paella connoisseur! And even better, it’s reasonable priced! The staff was slow on a Friday night because they got randomly busy and the server said “it never is” which shouldn’t be the case. This place deserves to be busy! Food is so flavorful, please keep this place busy so it stays open!!!“
“This place is the best fried fish sandwich you can sync your teeth into. They have a great special on Mondays and Tuesdays just for nobody even comes close to stellar fried fish sandwiches with lettuce and tartar for three bucks Drop the Mic.“
“Dimillos is always our go to restaurant for a nice meal with great service and atmosphere. The price of their steamed lobster was very high on our visit, so we opted for the lobster roll. It was piled high with lobster and came with a generous serving of fries. They now only serve it with a butter aoli but we were able to get mayo on the side as we prefer the traditional Maine lobster roll. And the chocolate cake was delicious. For steamed lobster, we go to places with less atmosphere but better prices, but if we want someplace a little nicer, Dimillos is our favorite area restaurant. Bonus for validated parking in an area where parking is a real pain.Dietary restrictions: They always happily accommodate my needs for no dairy or gluten.Parking: Take your ticket into the restaurant and have it validated at the front reception area. It's all automated now so there won't be any writing on the parking ticket. An attendant will scan it for you as you exit.“
“This place should have a solid 5 stars! Amaaaaazingly fresh fish (even in the winter), great prices, fabulous diversity in sake and Japanese whisky, knowledgeable servers, and brilliant outdoor patio. Shout out to Gabby, server extraordinaire, who goes the extra mile for customer service while being unpretentious and informative. She's been here through two owners and 10 years - this place treats their folks well, it seems! And - ummmm - can we talk about the heated bidet situation in the bathroom?! Love this place for quality, class, and convenience! Highly recommend reservations in peak season, but you won't regret the extra step to cut to the front of the verrrry long line! Keep up the good work, crew!“
“Our recent visit to David's for a birthday dinner was fantastic! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, setting the perfect tone for a special celebration. The haddock and mussels were cooked just right, and the bacon & white bean ragout added a lovely depth of flavor. The butternut squash risotto was creamy and delicious, and the spinach provided a fresh contrast to the dish.My mother's Tournedos au Poivre was also a hit. The pepper-crusted beef tenderloin medallions were cooked perfectly, and the green peppercorn and brandy cream sauce was rich and flavorful. The garlic mashed potatoes and autumn vegetable medley were the perfect accompaniments. We'll definitely be back!“
“Arrived early for a meal at the bar. Bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and his drinks were outstanding. Food service however was the slowest I’ve experienced in a very long time in this region. Took well over an hour to be served our entrees which were not out of the ordinary complicated meals to prepare. Inevitably the food was very good but attention to timing by kitchen staff clearly needs to be addressed.“
“We visited Maine Oyster Co. while staying in the area for a short visit in Portland. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy with many different seating options available. Sean & John were very warm, and personable. We were more than happy to hear about their experience as oyster farmers, and the oysters they produced, which were incredibly delicious. Maine Oyster Co. was not only a great spot for oysters, but a good way to get a taste of what Maine is all about- friendly people, and great seafood.“
“Wandered here for lunch and was greeted by a cozy, dimly lit dining room with only a few people in it, but with a buzzing, friendly energy. Our server was lovely and happily shared the dishes she enjoyed with us. My friend ordered a lobster roll and I ordered a big bowl of clam chowder, along with a root beer and a bright red mocktail. As much as it was hyped, the food felt a bit under-seasoned, and I struggled to taste much fishiness from my soup or my friend’s roll. The chips and pickle served with the roll were really good, as were the drinks.I would come here again during a warmer month & take advantage of the patio outside. I’d also come mentally prepared for the $75 bill at the end- not unjustified on their part, just a bit on the pricey end.Overall, would recommend!“
“OMG dog friendly;!!!!!!!! I had the pulled pork and it was very. Tasty but needed a little more sauce and more of the onions. Don't forget the delicious Cole slaw. Don't get me wrong we will be back for more food and DARK BEER!!!!!“
“We sat next to the window overlooking the bay. The drinks were fresh and balanced. Our waitress was very attentive and timely.Half of our group are gluten free and the menu was full of choices for us! Very refreshing... we tried the Crab cake, fried calamari and fisherman's platter. All the fish was fresh, no heavy grease taste and light! I would highly recommend Saltwater Grill.“
“I thought it was by the coast, it's in a small place in between a strip mall.Great parking, lots of it.TINY restaurant!! I think maybe 10 people can fit in there to sit down and eat. They have unique lobster roll combinations, market price on the lobster and plenty of merchandise to purchase.Over all, it was delicious and I was not disappointed in the lobster roll! The pulled pork sandwich... I've had better. If I'm in the area I will definitely get me another lobster roll :)“
“Jillian was attentive and friendly. The service was great. The drink menu seemed limited. There's a huge wine list, not much for craft beer drinkers while being located in a craft beer city and there was a "shmedium" cocktail list. Come here for the raw bar. Legit one of the best oyster spots in Portland. The calamari was good, but nothing to go crazy about - it definitely scratches that itch when you're craving a light battered basket of sunshine. The lobster grilled cheese sounded glutenous but was so worth it - absolutely order this. It was LOADED with lobster. The fries that come with it are delicious and I don't go crazy over fries. My fiancee got the salmon BLT and when I asked what he thought about it... He responded, "it was good". ? There's a reason why he doesn't do the reviews LOL. Anyways, he did love it though. Would we come again? Yes. Is this a good date night spot? Yes. We'll be back.“
“A few days ago, my teenage son and I ate at Docks Seafood for a late lunch. We were thoroughly pleased with our entire experience and had to share!I ordered the haddock sandwich and fries. Yum! Yum! My son ordered the haddock nuggets and fries. We both loved our meals. Everything came out fresh, flavorful and hot. I ate every single thing on my plate. The piece of haddock was huge and served on a lightly toasted bun. It was pure bliss. Their homemade tarter sauce goes perfectly with their seafood. I just couldn't stop eating their french fries. They were perfectly salted. My son loved his haddock nuggets. It's always great to see him eat food that he loves. Our waitress was awesome and she was heavily rewarded for all her awesomeness. We can't wait to go back to Docks Seafood. We left with a baked item for dessert because we were too full from our meal to eat anymore. It was a whoopie pie. Soooo good! Also, the owner came to our table to talk to us and he was super sweet. ?Kid-friendliness: My two kiddos (ages 12 and 15) love the menu options. There's something for everyone.“
“Check out this great restaurant. Four of us ate dinner at Regards Saturday night & totally enjoyed our meals. We are adventurous eaters who love to try new foods. We cook gourmet meals for ourselves & friends & we want quality options. Our motto is that we don't mind spending a little more money, if the food is better than we would make for ourselves and or something we wouldn't generally take the time to prepare at home. Because, the food is influenced by Japanese & Mexican roots, we had to "ask Siri" to define many of the menu items, but that was fun too. I am gluten/dairy intolerant & often restaurants will only have a few options that I can choose from, but at Regards, I had endless options & didn't feel like I was missing out on the "good choices". Regards offers great ambiance, a nice assortment of menu choices, helpful friendly staff & wonderful food. Check it out-“
“Wow. This place is absolutely wonderful. Went here for the first time ever on a date with my boyfriend. The food was so delicious and seasoned to perfection. The dessert we got was divine and the service was excellent. This is a great place to go on a little fancy dinner with your partner or to have a celebratory dinner. And the drinks are made so delicious. We got lucky and actually had a table available Saturday night, but it was packed for the most part. 11/10 will go here again.“
“Came here with a big group (7) for dinner on a Friday night during the off season in early March. We were seated right away upstairs which was extremely convenient. We ordered a few of the mojito pitchers for all of us which were really good. Each of us ordered appetizers for ourselves. I got the sunchoke dip and the rock potatoes. The sunchoke dip was interesting and thick in texture. The flavor was okay but maybe missing a little spice. The rock potatoes were AWESOME, really well seasoned and the dipping sauce complemented it really well. Super cute vibe and watching the karaoke at night was a fun way to end the night!!“
“I have always loved the Bite Into Maine food truck at the light house. I was so excited to go to this location! I tried the 3 flavors mini lobster rolls this time! Yummy and fresh as always!! The staff were nice and friendly! I ordered online and pick up in store. The process was smooth and easy!“
“We love the daily specials! The wait staff has always been pleasant and friendly. This is our go-to place for special events. Try the hush puppies! You won't regret it. There are also plenty of choices for those that do not eat seafood.“
“Portland, Maine’s Best sandwich/wrap shop of 2023 Po' Boys & Pickles is the real deal! The authentic Creole New Orleans' flavors are on point. Counter service was fast and friendly. The Blackened fish sandwich($15) is not to be missed! The sandwich is dressed with Cajun Cole slaw, sliced tomato and red pepper mayo. This is a huge sandwich, easily shareable and absolutely delicious!! The bread is from Leidenheimer Bakery, New Orleans. Founded in 1896, Leidenheimer's is the last of the old-school Po' boy bakeries. Po' Boys & Pickles has made the commitment to using the best bread and most authentic ingredients in all of their Po' boys and sandwiches. Truly an homage to New Orleans!! You can taste the goodness in every bite. The perfect accompaniment was a basket of sweet potato fries($6).The fries were perfectly crisp, not greasy, plentiful and delicious. Great quality, inexpensive dining experience!! I love this place and you will too! Highly recommend.“
“I was only able to photograph the lemonade that was prepared with a unique cocktail style by the manager, when the food was delivered to us, the appearance and aroma did not make us forget to photograph it. We ordered: the fish sandwich which was a bestseller. A delicious melted crab cheese, my daughter a Clam Chowder that was surprising and my wife the Loaded Snappy red hot dog that managed to surprise us. The manager's attention is unbeatable! Totally recommend this place.“
“This place is great for room service or eating in the restaurant. Friendly staff, friendly guests, and multiple comfortable places to sit and chill. I stay at the adjacent hotel 3+ times a year because of the food options, bar and location.“
“The past recent few years has been a rocky road with frequent changes in management and chef The food was good a little salty difficult to request substitute with meal. etc Wait staff was incredible and lots of great customers from the neighborhood as it was the last night. I am hoping this wait staff returns and resturant manager Gail has been very helpful I am hopeful that next year will bring a variety of selections like mussels a nice dinner salad fish tacos etc. more selections would be a big lift Have a well deserved rest“
“First time being here, and I went with a friend. Atmosphere was pretty cozy, I liked the color choice for the walls. It gave the restaurant warm/friendly vibes. They were able to seat us immediately, as we went at a wierd time [like late lunch very early supper time] so it wasn't busy at all. Our waitress was attentive without over doing it. The food was good, we did end up asking for thai chili flakes to make it a bit spicier. But it was still flavorful without it. Averaged about $25-30 per person. The only bad thing I will say is that I was disappointed with the Strawberry milk tea. I could tell they used a Strawberry syrup for it and it was a bit too sweet for what I was expecting. Still good, just not what was expected.Parking: They have signs indicating for ruby Thailand customers only. It's a small parking lot, but it has enough space.“
“Small restaurant but really good food. Wait staff were excellent. Reservations needed most nights, I suspect. Some reviews suggested some dishes weren't good, but we enjoyed everything. Food was hot, flavorful, cooked properly, and a good value.“
“I highly enjoyed the lobster roll and clam chowder (I like my clam chowder a little thicker, this one is watery) I left wanting more the lobster was not chewy and the aioli that they put on it really makes it. I had them put the aioli on the side and the butter and they where both good but man that aioli takes it some place else. Excellent!!! It wasn’t really busy when I went so the atmosphere was kind of blah! It took a while for anyone to say hi, tons of employees walked right by, even stub there talking to each other and even the manager and not even a hi. But when the bartender finally came it was good.“
“First time dining tonight, and it was phenomenal. Plenty of chips on the table, server was excellent and fast, food came out in minutes from ordering! The atmosphere was clean and the staff was so kind. The chimichangas we ordered were perfectly crispy and they accommodated change of sides! They even make guacamole in front of you. I am so impressed and will be back.“
“Amazing! The food was so delicious and do keep in mind that the menu constantly changes due to popular demand or availability of the products. I will definitely bring my family back and the atmosphere is something that you should not miss! I was not aware that I was on the water until I got off. The best perk is that you don’t have to look for a parking because they have one on their lot!“
“Wonderful experience! Great menu. We got there at 4:15, sat on the deck and stayed for sundown by 5:45. The haddock and the lobster pasta both lived up to Yelper reviews. As did the carrot cake. Jake was amazing - funny and works hard to take care of everyone be it pre-ferry or those staying on island. We will be back tom“
“The service was absolutely fantastic, we had the same server both days we were at the hotel. Since it was off-season the hotel was much cheaper than normal. The server recommended the pancakes and we were not disappointed, the next day I got the scrambler with a pancake on the side. All of it is delicious. The prices are a little higher but you were getting freshly cooked food including whole potatoes, eggs, pancakes etc.“
“This has been a easy dinner staple for us for years. When we visit my parents in South Portland, we always come here - kids can use the old school video game, they offer kids coloring sheets and crayons, they have great local beers, delicious bbq, and always yummy specials. There’s something for everyone. Easy and delicious.“
“The wings hold their own to anything in Portland, seriously so good. Atmosphere is so relaxing, and the TV's play clips of Thai street food being made which absolutely rules. Service is also awesome, super efficient and more than friendly. Get the crunchy fried chicken with garlic glaze, it's bananas.“
“The Sea Glass Restaurant was always one of my parents' favorites in the greater Portland area. It was an easy selection to know we wanted to have a reception there following my Mom's Memorial Service. Hana, the events and catering manager, was wonderful to work with. She listened with such great compassion and ensured every detail was attended to. Jessica and Andre were amazing servers... attentive without being intrusive. Toward the end, Jessica volunteered that she overheard so many wonderful stories about my Mom. Just the right thing to say! And, BTW, the food was delicious and the gathering space perfect. I can't recommend Sea Glass more highly!“
