“We sat at the chef's bar to watch the kitchen action and opted to pick out 4 vegetarian options from the menu. The portions were generous for 2 people. If you are a big eater and like to take home leftovers, you can choose the Chef's tasting menu, because it is difficult to choose from all the menu options. Each dish was so tasty, with layers of robust flavor & texture. The food is very rich and while we couldn't eat like this every day, we thoroughly enjoyed every option we chose. Simple but creative dishes. We also savored an absolutely decadent chocolate dessert, craft beer & an alcohol free cocktail. The music was a great addition to the overall vibe, and the restaurant set up is unique and bar-style downstairs. I'm glad we close to sit on the ground floor and watch the action. There is also an option to sit at a table upstairs in the mezzanine. We plan to return to try other menu options. A unique dining experience. Very nice, attentive staff.“

When I asked my server for gluten-free soy sauce, she alerted me to the fact that I had accidentally ordered a dish with wheat in it, remaking it for me immediately. “If you like flavorful food, this is it! Ordered the Chicken sandwich and Chive cakes. The texture of the cake was perfectly crisped on the outside and so soft on the inside. The accompanying sauce adds a nice vinegar/sour counterpoint to the cake. The chicken sandwich is normally spicy so we ordered it without the normal sauce and requested peanut sauce which was spot on. We liked the place so much we bought the cute pink Dad hat!“

Very hip vibe (if I'm not too old to say that unironically). We were greeted right away and found a table. Service was attentive and very personable. Made some recommendations and then we dove into the menu. Good selection of American pub style food. Music was good and not too loud. Good came out in good time. The food was better than I expected. My mom had a haddock chowder which she and I both loved (I stole a spoonful). She split a cranberry walnut salad with me. It was tasty but over dressed. Would have been a lot better with less dressing. My Dad got the honey mustard wrap and he really liked it. He also got an espresso martini that he thought was just ok. I had the fish and chips. The fry on the fish was no joke. Thicker and crispier than I am used to but was so tasty and very well seasoned. It was so much I brought half home and ate it straight outta the fridge the next day and it was delicious. The star of the night were the fries. Seemed like a double fry method that again were so crispy and well seasoned. Delicious! Will for sure be back again if I find myself visiting family in Maine and want some great food in a friendly spot!“

“Being an old dude I thought I might feel a bit out of place when I went here with friends to attend a retro emo-themed event with burlesque. One of my friends' son was playing in the band featured that evening. The show was truly bizarre but enjoyable. The venue is really interesting- the stage is a decent size and there seems to be enough space for several hundred people. The acoustics were acceptable and the beer selection was decent. I really didn't feel so out of place considering I was about 25 to 30 years older than the average age of the patrons for this event.“
“Flask is my favorite place in Portland. There is such a wide variety of things going on here — music of all different genres, karaoke, drag shows, comedy nights — with all sorts of different people. The social environment is ever-changing but always has the feeling of hanging out at a friend’s house. Also there’s an interesting take-it-or-leave-it box in the back bathroom where people leave notes and little trinkets.“

“First time here and on a Tuesday night. It's open mic/band night. This place is unique and a cool place to unwind after a day of work. A wide variety of bourbons, whiskeys, and a full bar. Getting great service and getting the low down to come back. There's entertainment every night they are open. Sidecar is open Tuesday through Saturday. You can go upstairs and outside if you want. It has a lighthouse feel to it.“

“1st time visitor. We got take out, pulled pork and chicken wing dinner. The macaroni & cheese was a meal by itself, huge portion for a side. Wings were nice and crispy. Thai chili was yummy. Pulled pork was tasty again large portion. Great new spot for us when we take the back way home. Happy they are here. We will be back.“
