“We found this little gem by chance and were not disappointed. Great atmosphere, kid friendly (albeit its an adult place). We sat at a small corner table by the bar. We enjoyed some sharable plates, great wines, mocktails for the kids, excellent wines and my wife a great Vesper made by Luci (the bartender). But the cherry on top was the fact that she made a perfect Irish Coffee - a simple drink, but buttered by 99% of the bar tenders. We will be back.“
“Was a really fun new place to try! Food was a bit experimental, especially if you’re going all vegetarian, but the details in the menu show a lot of love and care put in. Since the menu rotates so much, we’ll have to go back and try more. “
“Good restaurant, atmosphere was nice and very easy to park. I'd stick to the small plates if I went back, nice to share with others and you get a good sampling of what they have to offer. The cocktails were good and the food was pretty well prepared. Ingredient quality seemed to be so-so, but that's been the case with a lot of restaurants in Asheville lately. Not top-notch, but not bad either.“
“Loved the experience! The dining room is beautifully decorated. The bread that they brought out for an appetizer was really good. I especially liked how they had different types of bread to try. The food was very good too. I got the lobster tails, and both had really good flavor. Everything else in the dish was a very good compliment to it too. The filet mignon was very good as well. Very flavorful. Next time I visit I will definitely come back here for dinner.“
“We decided to order everything that looked good and share it all since we were traveling through and likely can't return. We got the gnocchi (amazing) the crispy Brussels (best ever in our lives) beef cheeks (insanely tender and 10/10) pork belly (10/10) sunchokes (good but not exciting) fried chicken (perfect and the strawberry barbecue sauce was perfection!) and the schnitzel (the sauce was ISANE and a perfect dish!). Overall we LOVED this place and the prices were so reasonable! The two of us ate all we wanted and took tons of leftovers home with us. Love loves this place!“
“First time here and we came for brunch! Very friendly staff and quick service! I ordered the shrimp and grits and my boyfriend had the bread pudding waffle and chicken. Both were impeccable. And they did not skimp on the shrimp in the grits! That creole sauce on top of the dish was chefs kiss. Can’t wait to come here again!“
“Absolutely fantastic place to eat. Each meal is incredibly flavorful, and the ambiance is pleasantly quirky. It is incredibly busy for a good reason, but the staff work efficiently to get you through the line. This is a must if you're in the Asheville area.“
“This is the spot to go to when in Asheville or as a local looking for a restaurant who still prioritizes the ambiance and unmatched quality of food. Steph, Ralph and Tony are owners who care and love what they do. Easily my favorite spot to eat in Asheville. Not a bad choice on the menu. Ralph’s knowledge on wine is unreal and def worth listening to for pairing.“
“While in the area for business we came here for dinner… our server was great! The menu is awesome! The venue is beautiful and quaint! We started with their mussels and the broth they were in was excellent; the mussels were fresh and tasty as well. Next was soup, I got the broth and the other got a mushroom bisque and we all enjoyed our soup course. The broth was rich and flavorful. The main course consisted of steaks for everyone and they were prepared very nicely. Mine was slightly over-cooked, so they re-fired one for me without question. The broccoli and mashed potatoes that comes with the steak were both excellent! Finally, their cheesecake for dessert was perfect! They have a very nice wine list here and serve a decent amount by the glass too.Overall, we all enjoyed this visit… I’d definitely return!“
“Ben is such a delightful human. He is an asset to the establishment and makes you feel instantly welcomed and appreciated. Ben's competence and attitude is such a breath of Asheville mountain fresh air. If you are lucky enough to be there when he is on the waitstaff, you will have a delightful time.“
“ELDR is Ashevile refined. Accessible to all but off the beaten path. New explorations on the menu are elevating the menu nicely. Primary dinner menu offers diverse flavors, centered around French farmhouse & New American.Great for groups of 2 - 6. Relaxed atmosphere.“
“Excellent. Brought my wife to this unassuming gem years ago for a date night ans we had a blast. They had frog legs and other adventurous delectables then and now that our kids are 8 and 5, I like to expose them to exciting food and restaurants from time to time, so we brought them. Sometimes kids at nice restaurants are unwelcome, so I scheduled earlier in night for the patio (6pm). We showed up 10 minutes early but we were met with smiles and and open table. Beware, there is no "kids menu" here, nor child beverages. However, our waitress was very kind an whipped up some Shirley Temples for them to sip on to feel fancy. The food was amazing, we started with the cheese board and olives - gouda & bleu with crostinis, toasted nuts, and a gooseberry jam - castelvetrano olives in a citrus marinade with blood orange segments and zest. They were great together and the kids enjoyed both - although much to the parents satisfaction, they shied away from the bleu. Next we had the head cheese, oyster mushrooms and pork belly as well. The head cheese is exactly what you would expect (if you go for that sort of thing), a little fatty, but when smeared on the bready toast points it's quite good - only wish we had more bread as it's too rich by itself, but we had more food. The pork belly was the most composed dish, well browned and juicy towers of pork on a pool of nutty/earthy sauce with crumbles of Rye. My kids don't like mushrooms, but I always make them try it again when we go somewhere new, this time was a miss for them but a HUGE hit for me. Brown butter and hazelnuts gave them a crunch and a coating of glaze that left them AND my taste buds dripping. Finally we shared the gnocchi - I had to explain what they were and how they were made to my kids so they could appreciate the dish. Fantastic pillowy bites of goodness with ramp green pesto, tetragonia and parmesan. By far the favorite of the night by all parties. We finished with the whiskey orange chocolate cake and a semifreddo sundae. All of this in about an hour with great service and hospitality in between. Well done on all fronts and one of the best Asheville has to offer.Kid-friendliness: Brought our kids Shirley Temples when they found out there wasn't much else for them. Friendly and engaging, as we as patient with them when ordering.“
“This place is amazing ? I recently brought a friend here from Boston and they really went above and beyond and showed him what true southern hospitality is all about. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I will continue coming to this location for many years to come and always introducing new people to Tupelo Honey ?“
“This was my first time here and had phenomenal time. The vibes and decor were beautiful and perfect. The food was very delicious, with different kinds of small plates. We were treated very well by our waitress and staff. I will highly recommend this place. Surely will be “
“We've been about 7 times now and have brought close friends to dine with us here. We love this place. The food is outstanding, and service is on point. The atmosphere is elegant and quiet. Every time I dine here I leave relaxed and satisfied. The old fashioned is perfect as well is the amaretto sour. Ask about the golden blaze cheddar!“
“This is a very unassuming, casual place. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I had the Blue Plate Special (a chicken sammy with fries) and a Diet Coke. My wife ordered the pot pie with a locally produced Devil's Foot ginger beer. Our meals were both delicious and the portions were very ample. The service was good and all of the staff was friendly and helpful.“
“Somehow well-known, yet still an early walk-in, so off the "local secret" list. In similar balance, the experience is up-scale Asheville casual. Expect it to be a little pricey. Composed, semi-seasonal menu, not pretentiously obfuscated. Good ingredients conservatively elaborated, leaning toward French full-flavor. Service is professional without being stuffy or hovering. If accustomed to fine dining, appropriately AVL-relaxed; if new, not intimidating.-=-Setting expectations after reading other reviews: allow adequate time. The menu favors multiple courses and conversation. Think, "leisurely double-date with a short walk," if going to a show after dinner.“
“Stumble here for great late night food. Philly cheesesteak and grilled cheese were life saving inclusions to our evening. Fries were better than expected, alcohol selection was perfect. Lots of events but you're not surrounded by music or stand-up comedy if you don't want to be. If you are a lost soul in the heart of Asheville in the dead of night this is your lighthouse.“
“Wow. The Filet was delicious, so much flavor. From the starter to the main course, we were both impressed. Plates were literally cleaned so we didn’t have room for dessert. Next time!! The staff was very kind and friendly. That something you remember.“
“Don’t sleep on Early Girl! Rachel, our server was so much fun and the food was incredible! We live right down the street in West Asheville and have come occasionally, but this will definitely be on a regular rotation, and you can take the at from an Asheville local. My boy had the Apple Cinnamon Bacon Biscuit French and it was the hit of the table. 5 stars, highly recommendDietary restrictions: My wife is gluten free and the fried chicken and waffles being gluten free regardless is very good!Kid-friendliness: 2 boys, ages 9 and 7, wide boothsWheelchair accessibility: My mother in law uses a walker and it was really accessible“
“Fun place to visit. Great views from the rooftop, some outside seating although there may be some reservations needed for certain sections. The staff was super friendly and very helpful in making suggestions and getting drinks served quickly.“
“We had a full morning of sightseeing and needed a bite to tied us over until our dinner reservations that night. We chose to have a light snack in the Library Lounge. My Honey and I split an order of Lobster Roll and Short Rib Sliders. There were two of each and light enough to not ruin our appetite for dinner. They have live entertainment here every night. Our first night they had someone playing the piano, the afternoon we stopped in for a snack they had a young man on acoustic guitar. Both were very talented and enthusiastic. The views of the surrounding mountains were amazing and the food was very Delicious. Our server was very friendly, helpful on our selections and provided impeccable service. We enjoyed our experience in the Library Lounge very much. The atmosphere was very comfortable and delightful.“
“Employees were really friendly and the cook was great! The food came out perfect for a Waffle House. My daughter and I enjoyed ourselves. It was a very pleasant experience.Kid-friendliness: My daughter loved watching the cook make the food in front of us. The food is definitely kid-friendly.“
“The owner doesn’t know how to put an accurate description of items on the menu. Food was still good, despite it not being what I thought it was gonna be. Service was good. Shoutout to the waitress (; . If you can figure out how to do a menu I would come back. Especially for the kind beautiful lady serving “
“We stopped here one morning while we were in town. I honestly don’t have anything negative to say about this restaurant, everything was so good. My son loved the chicken and waffles…the chicken was cooked so well. My 8 year old had the Cali bowl, they were super accommodating with switching to mixed greens and bringing the sauces on the side. I had a biscuit French which was also very good. Highly recommend for a good, healthy, organic stop. We will definitely be back when we are in town next time.“
“We were greeted warmly at the door, and our server was extremely gracious and provided wine samples to help us choose the right bottle. The raw oysters were fresh and bright, the Big Bowl of Greens was a terrific salad to share. The NC Trout and Pork Schnitzel entrees were flawless. We shared a Black Forest Cake for dessert. In summary, it was a perfect dining experience.“
