The naans were super soft, the flavors were spot-on, and the service was top-notch from beginning to end. The food was from the Chapel Hill location. They also accommodated our dietary restrictions, like no onion or garlic, and they nailed it! They arrived on time and were super well-prepared! They also took care of all the details throughout the event and helped with everything towards the end. It was a huge relief to know that we could trust someone from start to finish. You know, I thought I was just ordering dinner, but what I really got was a front-row seat to the theater of fast-food failure.
The so-called "Meal"? Oh, it was anything but. No fries, no nuggets, no sauces—just a sad little box of regret. It was less of a meal and more of a scavenger hunt where the prize was nothing.
And the McFlurry? Let’s just say it was more McPuddle. It melted faster than my faith in humanity, which is impressive considering how quickly McDonald's ice cream machines usually break in the first place.
But the real kicker? The sheer confidence with which this incomplete mess was handed over, as if I wouldn’t notice half my food was missing. I’ve seen more effort put into an “I’m sorry” text from a flaky friend.
McDonald's, I don’t expect fine dining, but I do expect the food I paid for. If you need help remembering that fries go with the meal, maybe hire a food coach or a motivational speaker—someone, anyone—to inspire basic competence.

First impression?
Packed. But in a good way. The energy was high, the patio was buzzing, and every table felt like the cool kids' table. It was one of those effortlessly fun environments where you can’t help but vibe along.
Food-wise:
I went with the tostadas, which were absolutely brimming with flavor—crispy, fresh, and loaded with toppings that weren’t just filler. My husband ordered the Cuban sliders, and full disclosure: I immediately regretted not doing the same. They were juicy, savory, and had us doing the polite “just one more bite?” dance until the plate was clean.
Drinks:
His old fashioned? A+—perfectly balanced and smooth. This isn’t one of those bars that half-asses the cocktail game. They know what they’re doing.
Would we go back?
Without hesitation. Great food, great drinks, a fun and inclusive crowd, and our dog was treated like royalty. If you’re in St. Pete and want something casual but full of personality, The Velvet Hippo is the move.

The reason I’m passionate about this is when I got home, I was throughly impressed with my food and ate off my families plate. I glad my wife wanted to go. I had an issue with a cashier not knowing how to charge some items, so I was overcharged. I hope that’s just a training issue and will be solved in time. I can’t be mad, they’re brand new and killing it. I hope they stay open for 100 years.”

“Cute little coffee window at Boxyard. The coffee is really good! I really enjoyed the flat white.
Boxyard is a fun environment too! It's kid and pet friendly. Plenty of parking in the mornings!
They had a nice selection of cakes, but the only one that seemed to go with breakfast was the lemon cake. Not a lot of food options. The TV screen menus were hard to read in the morning because the sun was shining on them; fortunately they had paper menus.
Everything was served in a ToGo paper cup.
Alex, the barista, was really nice, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. She also made delicious coffee! It was a perfectly pulled espresso shot using Counter Culture beans.”

“Well where to start. I've enjoyed Ray's YouTube and I've heard folks talking good things about his food truck. I finally had a chance to visit. Wow worth every penny. The cheesesteak was way bigger than I expected😀 so I shared it with my dad. It was sooooo good. So glad I had free time to check him out, you should too.”

“Staff clearly knows what's gluten free, happily points it out on the menu and at the dipping sauce station. Dipping sauce station is super clean and appeared free of contamination, no mixing of ingredients/sauces. Vegan options are obvious on the menu, and plentiful. Service was stellar, and soooo was the food! This is is my new favorite, hands down. Show up hungry, the servings are generous.”
