“My first time trying A Mother's Touch. Chef Mel has genuinely pleasant energy. She was patient as we made a decision. I wanted the Chicken & Sweet potato waffles which they don't make after a certain time. She made an exception and made my mine fresh. The chicken was well seasoned, crispy and juicy. I loved the texture of the waffle and it wasn't overly sweet. We also had the combo whiting/shrimp with greens and Mac and cheese. The fish and shrimp were well seasoned. The shrimp were a nice size. The mac and cheese was absolutetly cheesy and not dry. We also had a fish sandwich which was served with cajun fries. As a fry snob I had to steal one and I will be back for my own order. Honestly the best soul food experience I have had in Jersey in a while. The service and the food were both ?“

“The last time I tasted Jollof rice of the caliber made here was in a local spot in Lagos, Nigeria where it is made in iron pots and cooked with firewood. I don't know how they did it, but it beats every jollof rice I have had in the US so far. I ordered it with chicken for my birthday party and it was a hit. Everyone wanted to take some rice to go after the party.The chef is also the kindest and most personable individual you would ever meet. She added extra portions and a little something on the side to commemorate my birthday and helped me drop off the food too. “The after church crowd was here on Sunday and I completely understand why. The food was every thing it needed to be & then some. I ordered the shrimp & grits with a side of eggs. They serve breakfast all day and have a vegan menu. The restaurant is connected to an apartment building so be careful not to pass when looking for it. It has a black & white striped triangular umbrella hovering over it. The staff were kind and the atmosphere was extremely down to earth, but not ghetto. This is a great mom & pop shop that you should fed check out. Be sure to try a flavored lemonade or iced tea. They are tall and one was more than enough. I didn't notice any ASL speaking staff, it wasn't needed, but there is space for wheelchairs. There is also street parking so be mindful. Only downside, our table wasn't exactly clean when sat down, but it was obvious they were busy. Overall, this is a great place for brunch or Sunday takeout dinner.“

“I live in Pennsylvania, but my friends ordered from here and now I'll drive all the way back, 80+ miles one way just to get this food. I've had so many different kinds, but this is the best place I've ever had food from. Obviously, we didn't try everything, but they're so super nice and the dumplings with that sauce omgosh can I please buy that in a bottle?Never usually liked those sauces, but it's banging!!!! I'd put that up against any other sauce. Super sweet and the soup damn I'm so hungry. Overall everything we ordered was the best we've ever had. “I took food to my job and they loved I brought a pan of yellow rice cabbage and a $20 pan of potato salad and took it to my job cause we had a birthday party for a coworker. They loved the food they never had it before I live in South Amboy but I’m from Newark work in Matawan at the nursing home, and they never had the flu before they loved it. Good job, kings.“

“This was my first time here. Recommended by a friend. The food was average. I had French toast and turkey sausage links, which were very good! My son had silver dollar pancakes with the turkey sausage links. He loved the links and he really doesn't eat meat often so that was great! Price is fair. There were three of us and the bill was about $68. That included our drinks as well.Kid-friendliness: They made my son, several silver dollar pancakes. It was a lot! However, the person cooking was really unpleasant when I returned alone one day, and I nearly decided not to return even though I was really craving it. Kevin and his team had catered an event at work and did an excellent job so I called him frantically 5 days before the party. Not only was he extremely accommodating, but we put together a great menu. Had fried chicken, ribs, oxtails, shrimp skewers, plantains, rice w pigeon peas, mac&cheese and corn bread.
