“Really cool pub in the financial district, beloved by those who work and live there. We were there for a work gathering of 100 ppl, and we had run of the place. Servers were amazing, and our food (sliders and tiny shepherds pies) and beverages (bar service) were on-point.“
“What a great place and so glad we found it just a couple of minutes walk from our hotel. We visited every day during our trip and served the best Guinness in NYC. We had food most days which was tasty and they still served food late. It was my first visit to NYC and the staff were a great help and all had time for a chat. Definitely worth a visit, you won’t regret it.“
“I came here the Friday before St. Patrick's day and was not disappointed. They had live music on a small stage with a large crowd singing along to Irish folk tunes. The atmosphere was lively and reminded me a lot of Dublin pubs. The service was a bit slow, as there were too many patrons and too few bartenders. If they could improve that ratio, this place would be a fantastic place.“
“Very cozy place .Staff was very friendly and attentive .Had the burger with onion , sautéed mushrooms . The add on’s were soo good .The burger was very simple otherwise . Felt like there could have been more fat to give it more flavor . Deff have had a better burger in my life before . But truly I enjoyed the simplicity of it . I would happily come back .It really is a very comfortable atmosphere .“
“My friends and I kicked off our bar crawl with scones from Mary O's - literally could not recommend enough. We all left saying we couldn't wait to come back next time for more scones! We were all expecting them to be good but after having them, no words could do them justice. They were fresh out of the oven and topped with some delicious butter and jam.Mary was super nice and welcoming towards our group. I can't wait to go back. I'll also definitely be ordering scones online because I'm sure they'll make a great gift for anyone who doesn't live in New York!“
“Definitely lived up to the social media hype and no doubt best tavern burger in Queens. One can choose any burger on their extensive burger menu with a side of fries or onion rings for less than 20 bucks, it’s a deal I’m willing to sign up for every day.We went on a Thursday late afternoon and place was energetic and lively, just what you expect from a well-known busy tavern. I can only imagine what it’s like on weekends when they have live band.Donovan’s is the real deal.“
“Great place for beer and food. The bartenders are always so friendly and welcoming. Anything on their food menu is solid but we go there for the fried chicken sandwich, can't beat it. They have a nice selection of beer but we go for the Kilkenny because this is the only place so far we have found in the city that serves it.“
“This is the best spot in Brooklyn! The drinks are amazing, The Guinness is fantastic, unbelievable that it tastes so good, reminds me very much of my years in Donegal! The staff are friendly and funny!!! The food is so good, I’m hungry thinking about right now. I’ve had amazing dates with my fella and great nights out with the girls! Love this place❤️“
“Great atmosphere, fantastic service, and delicious food at PJ Carney's Pub! The staff is always friendly and attentive, making sure your experience is top-notch. Whether you're looking for a casual drink or a hearty meal, this pub has it all. Highly recommend stopping by for a memorable night out“
“We came down to watch the game and were welcomed and had a great morning. We did not have any food but what we saw looked good, the beer was delicious and the service excellent though. A great place to visit if you want an LFC game while in New York.“
“Immediately I knew this place was special. The ties to NYC and 9/11 run deep. I had a tuna melt which was open faced, and my husband had the Reuben. No pics because we ate everything before considering pictures. You will not be disappointed here. The service was great and the ambiance is special. If I'm ever in NYC again, I'll be back.“
“This is one of my favorite restaurants on the Upper West Side. Many great menu items, but my favorite is their chicken pot pie (see pic). I also often order the bruschetta - it’s always prepared perfectly. The ambiance of an Irish pub is full of character. The food, the drinks, and the service here is consistently excellent.“
“I'm giving Malone's five stars. I absolutely loved it. First of all, the service was fantastic! I mean our server was professional, friendly, and just lovely. I came here for the weekend brunch, and I like that they also offered non-brunch items. I have never like eating waffles or eggs in the afternoon. I ended up getting Buffalo chicken wings. I love wings and I can say these were amongst the best wings I have had. They were just crispy and delicious. And the fries were yummy too.“
“Great food, great beer, great vibes, great prices. Went with a group of 12 and had a blast. The fish and chips were light and delicate yet incredibly crispy. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. Huge beer selection at eight dollars a pint, great value and amazing staff.“
“Good local bar. I wouldn't travel far to come here, but my friend lives down the block on 40th and this is my favorite spot in the area. Good prices, got just what you need. People are always cool around here. Saw a fight once outside. Pool tables you can play. Bathroom is far away downstairs. I come here whenever I'm in the neighborhood!“
“This place was AMAZING. We had the mussels, burrata salad, pork chops, and salmon. Every single item was absolutely delicious. The ambiance was calm and quiet in comparison to a lot of other places. We spent about 2 hours here and enjoyed every minute. The only reason I would give it 4 stars not 5 is because we went 30 ish minutes without someone checking on us and had to wave down an employee for drinks and our check. Other than that the staff was super nice! Love the feel of this place!“
“We happened upon this delightful spot after touring the Intrepid. We were hungry for good food and were not disappointed. I had a Franziskaner draft and a cheeseburger, while cooked to well, when I asked for medium, it was well seasoned and had a good flavor on a nice hard roll. My wife had the grilled chicken wrap, I ate 1/2 of it and really liked it. It was a nice balance of pesto and mozzarella to chicken. The side salad wase nicely dressed. This was a seriously nice find, it was charming to walk into one of the oldest continually run bars in NYC and find great draft beer and food at an affordable for NYC price. The service was outstanding as well.“
“Great Irish pub with friendly staff and delicious food. They pay attention to the details like matching the branded glasses with the right beers. Service was very quick even though it was wall to wall busy since it’s a popular place. If you’re lucky you’ll get to meet Maggie herself!“
“Completely unexpected! Many years ago stepped in unknowingly of their history and was greeted by Jimmy and you felt known even though it was my first visit. Sat at bar and staff was so attentive. Food was incredible! Second visit… was like how I imagine walking into to “Cheers” would have been. Everyone remembered even though months went by! A rare gem in NYC and worth a visit for the amazing food, warm and meaningful hospitality and connections! Became a regular and will always be a stop after leaving NYC on my visits !“
“The perfect pub if you are in the desperate need of a quick pint. It's the definition of "fast drink" instead of "fast food" because sadly this place is lacking of food or at least snacks but I think it's the concept of this place to only serve drinks and I have to say they are doing that on the best level.“
“A warm inviting Irish bar with- surprise! A beautiful stage set up with wonderful sound man and of course-Sunday nights the treat is seeing legendary music promoter FRANK WOOD work his magic.Another surprise - the bar regulars actually come to the back room to listen to the music! Friendly crowd , nice bartenders, generous drinks! Easily accessible from R train- come visit this gem of a bar!“
“Jack Jones is a cozy neighborhood spot with friendly staff and consistently great food and drinks. I am always impressed by how well the staff manages a busy crowd, even on St Patrick’s Day when there was a line to get in! My husband and I have been coming here since it opened and whenever we bring family and friends in they are impressed with the quality of food and service- it is definitely not just another average bar. We love having a go-to spot in the neighborhood for a great meal, some banter w the wonderful staff, to catch a game and sometimes even live music. Highly recommend.“
“We loveee the dead poet - so cute and intimate. Fun for a date night, week night drink, after bar drinks whatever you name it! It's a pretty chill vibe and a tiny space so not much room to stand but we love it here as a late night spot“
“O'Hanlon's is pub meets basement rec room meets one of the oddest cuts of locals you'll find in Manhattan. Probably best known for its soccer showing which draws in weekend crowds, you might be surprised to learn it also opens at 9am, apparently to cater to night shift workers like those at the firehouse across the street. Because of that, I can never quite tell if O'Hanlon's is weathering bumpy times (it isn't always the cleanest and sometimes is low on stock) or if that's simply the reality of being open nearly 24-hours a day. Either way, that weirdness and its rougher edges do lend it an odd kind of charm that's hard to replicate, which is made all the more charming by great staff who are often more than happy to chat when it's not crazy busy.Edit: In response to the reply from the owners, for me it'd be 5 stars probably if there was a bit more stock of bottles on the back bar. For bourbon for example, these days I don't see much besides Maker's but I remember there used to be a bit more variety? But if the strategy is to keep a simpler inventory, that's totally fair! Just have been surprised since it's a large bar“
“Cool bar. It's in an area of the city that surrounded by tons of other bars but there aren't many other Irish pubs so this one stands out. Great drinks and fun atmosphere. It was my first time there and it was St. Patty's Day so it was pretty wild and energetic in there. I liked it.“
“Stopped in for a couple of drinks while headed to the subway, super glad I did! The bartender was amazing and went out of his way to take care of us. Clean and comfortable traditional Irish pub with plenty of TVs to catch the game. Highly recommend.“
“Had the paper plane cocktail and the crispy fish tacos. Pretty standard, but I have a bias for fish tacos, so standard fish tacos are 4 ⭐ by default in my book. Minor knock is that the slaw, mayo, and relish together were a little strong and kind of overwhelmed the fish. Why is it so dark? I get it, but I also don't get it ? low light has its merits, but this was super dark ? (the camera make the photos/videos look brighter than the lighting in reality)“
“Me and my boyfriend stopped in to get a drink on Sunday afternoon and Ro was amazing as soon as we walked through the door. She was attentive the whole time and we loved talking to her. Great drinks, great service. I’m from Stony Point, NY and I can’t wait to come back to see the live music.“
“Dalton's Bar & Grill is a cozy spot with comfortable seating that invites you to relax and enjoy a great meal. The food is truly amazing, and the beer is always fresh, making it a perfect place to unwind. Their Onion Soup is a standout dish that will leave a lasting impression. Whether you're looking for a casual meal or a place to catch up with friends, Dalton's Bar & Grill is sure to please.“
“Delicious food once again. Chicken wrap was lightly toasted and stuffed. Took home half. Others in our party had Caesar salad w/grilled chicken. Very generous portion. And, turkey burger so thick and juicy it required both hands to manage. Recommend Doc Watson’s for food and service.“
“This is by far one of the chillest spots I've been to in Sunnyside in a long time. I can't believe I used to walk past this place and never went in. We strolled in on a brisk Saturday night. We got lucky because karokee is held there on Saturdays. If you're with a big group, I recommend sitting in the front area because there is a big table. The big table is right next to the bar, which is perfect. The price for the night was only like $50 and was way cheaper than other bars I've been to in the past few years. The bartenders were extremely nice. The drinks were pretty strong, and wow, the green tea shots were delicious. ::bathroom alert:: This place has two stalls in the women's bathroom. Only 3 people can fit in the bathroom at once. The sink is in the corner and super tiny. You may have to wait outside the door instead of in the bathroom because everyone is friendly in the bathroom when they are drunk. Unfortunately, there isn't any food at this bar. But the good news is that there was a taco truck right outside. You're able to bring the food into the bar, which is a huge plus. But damn those tacos are delicious. This is definitely a great place to come with a group or to come with a date if you're on a budget.“
“We are never disappointed when we stop here when we visit NYC. Atmosphere and food is always fantastic and they make killer Manhattans. We just went for the 2023 Rockefeller tree and the staff was pleasant and accommodating. so happy they were decorated for the holidays. 100% go to in our opinion.“
“We were staying in the area and ended up having dinner twice in this pub. 4 stars is average between these two visits. I’d rate one 5 stars but the other 2-3. It seems one of those places where you need to know what to order, even though menu is reasonably short.I do not recommend ordering salmon, which was a small piece of fish on a big pile of spinach. Also the Shepherds pie rendition I was served was the weirdest one (and least good) I’ve ever tried. It was a very thin layer of mediocre beef with 3 pieces of carrots, covered in a pool of gravy with mashed potatoes piped around the perimeter of the plate. In the gravy pool, there were swimming some peas that tasted like they were hastily defrosted before serving. It was under-seasoned and the large pieces of bay leave I had to fish out of the gravy pool were just the proverbial cherry on top.We came back only because the kid liked his burger, it was raining and it was the only restaurant in the area without deafening music. I’m glad we did though because I ordered fish and chips and somehow it was actually fantastic. Granted, “chips” were regular fries but fish was plump, succulent pieces of cod meat with perfectly crisp breading. Tiny portion of cole slaw was also good. Vegetarian burgers are frequently an afterthought at places like this but it was pretty good.Beer on tap was OK, there isn’t a large selection. Got a mixed cocktail in happy hour, don’t recommend it as it was mostly ice in a small glass.Nothing special to say about service. On the first visit, we were left to our own devices until we asked for a check and on the next visit, the waiter stopped by to ask if everything was ok. Beware of credit card fee, we were able to pay with debit card to avoid it. It does leave unpleasant aftertaste though, feels like being bamboozled. Just roll it into your cost, for cripes sake.“
“My partner and I were looking for a place to have a good beer and listen to good live music and we found this great place one block from the metro line 7 station. We were lucky at The Wild Goose, we found excellent beers at good price, friendly atmosphere and attention to details, a clean and warm place to spend our night. We hope to return during our vacation in New York“
“We came with a group to celebrate a great friends promotion…which was also a surprise wedding proposal for her. Marc was extremely accommodating and Kristina, who was our server as well as the manager was beyond amazing. She was on point and went well beyond to make our experience awesome…all while handling another large group. I cannot express enough how thankful we are and what a great experience we had! Thank you Blackjacks!!!“
“We’re over from Ireland (for paddy’s weekend), staying in Chelsea, and after a long flight we stopped by for some burgers and a few scoops… and we were very surprised by how good the Guinness js and the burgers are just as nice. Great value for money and lovely staff… deffo stop by and check it out.“
“I visited this bar on a weekend night for a pint. The place has a strong pub atmosphere, with exposed wood and Irish signage. There was a person doing live music in the corner who was great. The bartenders were attentive and quick to serve. Overall I had a great time here.“
“Loved visiting this place with a friend for brunch! The food was great for the price and it has such a cozy vibe. The drinks are a good price as well during brunch and I would love to come back again alone or with friends. It’s small and the seating is a bit tight but it’s a good place to hang out. Definitely give it a try if you are in the area! The brunch burger was delicious and cooked how I like it but the main star for me were the truffle fries.“
“Big group of us (over 20) called in for breakfast before a match in Gaelic Park. Service, cleanliness and staff hospitality were second to none, before I even mention the food. Breakfast was so good we called back after the match for dinner. Even though it was very busy the staff, accommodated us and the food was excellent, would highly recommend for both food quality and price. Special mention to Danielle who couldn't do enough to make our two visits to the Whlistin Donkey very worth while.“
“Terrific Place--Great Bartender Neil and Great Patrons--Love Their Guinness Tap. Now I am Over 70 And They are kind To ME. 50 Years Ago I went To This Tavern. Still Amazing. The Bartenders, and Patrons and The Owner--5-Stars For ME and I Hope to Return-Sadly I Live in a Part of Queens That Has NO-Place like McGuinness's Bar.“
“Best pint of Guinness in Brooklyn! The bartender Paddy (not the same one on the awning) is friendly and remembered my wife's order, she having only been there one other time before. The second Wednesday of every month is the Conradh na Gaeilge session, so if you've got some Irish or like trad tunes, or both, bígí linn (join us) for some good craic!“
“Authentic Irish pub experience. No tourist trap no thrills proper Irish pub in New York. If you want the Irish pub experience look no further. With the best staff excellent prices. Look no further than Geordies joint. Worth the tip out of the city.“
“I've been coming to the Quays for over 10 years, and it just keeps getting better. Every time you come, it's like a family get-together. The owner is amazing, staff is great, and the regulars, well, they just make the place. If you're in Astoria, definitely pop in. You're in for a great time!“
“Not been here so comment on the food, service and atmosphere but as I am a big Liverpool FC supporter and planning on visiting New York City in December I will have to try and visit here because by then we will be back in the Chanpions League and hopefully doing well in the the league by then. I decided to already give 5 stars for atmosphere because with Liverpool supporters it certainly would be great. YNWA“
“Met owner Joe and his Son and staff 1st time I went in and because I was looking for answers about my uncle that I hadn’t seen in a long time but I figured he hung out in this really nice cool looking Irish pub being that he is from Ireland! Joe and his son and staff answered so many questions, and I had a delicious pretzel and drink while they helped me more ways than I can thank them!! I consider them my new Besty‘s and I will be visiting them all the way from Long Island, but it will be the quickest 1 hour ride of my life I hope.lol I took the time last night when I got home after midnight to look at the website, I cannot believe the size of the place and how many people it potentially holds and I’m curious to see this coming Sunday St. Patrick’s Day —I am sure it will be packed to the rafters!! Joe was nice enough to take my phone number and he’s going to be in touch with me for some more personal reasons — but they were very busy and he patiently sat with me for hours -making phone call after phone call to try and locate some of my uncles buddies that might be able to answer some more of my questions!??? Joe and family and staff -WE thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will never forget you and we hope to be lifelong friends. Love the Bracken-Brady-Conlon families!! IF ANYONE WANTS UPDATES OR ANY QUESTIONS-ANSWERED ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE—feel free to text or Call me at 15167795299–KEVIN BRACKENS“
“Great local Irish bar. I was staying a week at a nearby hotel and this place had the exact Irish bar feel I needed. I instantly felt like a regular they were glad to see, coming and going. Proper for an Irish place. Good pours on the beers. I was here for the first 2016 Presidential Debates and there was a lot of opinions, but in true NYC style, nobody got bent, no matter how much of a (&%$g idiot the other person was.“
“Great dive bar right next to the 30th St subway stop. When my friends and I noticed they had $3 PBRs, we were sold. Bartender also gave us a buyback on our 3rd beer! Too bad they didn't serve any food though. Very mixed crowd of all ages. They have bands on weekends sometimes and I noticed they had a sign indicating live Bluegrass Sundays. If they ever got a jukebox that only played Irish and bluegrass music, then I would give them 5 stars. But, had to take away a star for the crappy music some people were playing on the jukebox.“
“Delicious food & wonderful service. Came here for a small birthday celebration on a weekend & really appreciated that they didn’t rush us out at all. The staff let us enjoy our long lunch & girls catch up. Much appreciated, with so many places in the city in a rush mode with customers.“
“a nice no frills old school irish pub in astoria where you can enjoy some drinks while watching sports without the loud obnoxious bar vibe that many astoria bars are infamous for. dropped in with my buddies after having dinner nearby and the friendly chill relaxing vibe is just what a non drinker can appreciate. no food is serves from what i can see on the limited menu but i think food from outside is allowed. if you prefer the anti loud, anti doche , anti frat boys hangout , i recommend daly's pub without any hesitation.“
“Each time 1walk in to this place, in Bakersfield is a lot of people but with a wonderful atmosphere. I remember going there one Patrick's Day, the whole place was filled with people shoulder to shoulder it was great. Recently I went back and it was a slow night and for the first time I saw what the place really look like I couldn't see it before cuz of the crowd of people or should I say see of people which is bigger.I think you'll love it there.( parking is a little bit of a headache, if possible just take an Uber or whatever you feel comfortable with. )“
