I ordered the rice/chicken/pernil special, red beans and maduros. I would CERTAINLY order again.“

“I love Zion's Cuisine. It is a neighborhood gem and I will miss it if/ when I move out. I usually get brown stew chicken, beef stew, or pepper steak. The food is affordable, delicious, and healthy, and a large platter is good for 2-3 big meals (I do use rice from home to stretch it). Zion's is my go-to when I don't have the time or energy to make something decent for myself.No restaurant review is complete without a criticism, so: I wish they made it clear what is available each day. This goes for all Jamaican spots, but it seems like every day there is something they don't have. Knowing what's available with an updated list (instead of an interrogation at the order counter) would also give me the opportunity to try dishes I haven't before, such as their soups and breakfast items.Also, although their cabbage is the best Jamaican cabbage I've ever had, when I get cabbage and greens as sides I wish they would put my greens in the little slot for sides instead of always the cabbage. I end up with enough cabbage for two meals but only one meal worth of greens. Maybe greens are more expensive for them.. I will ask to pay extra for this next time and see what they say.Overall, Zion's is my favorite restaurant in the area and I am already looking forward to the next time I fall woefully behind on my food prep.Dietary restrictions: Easy to eat gluten- and dairy-free“

“Some of the best Dominican food you're gonna find anywhere outside the island.Spectacular food made fresh every day and a wide variety of dishes and drinks. They used to be cash only, but have an ATM inside and now accept card payments.Definitely my favorite place in the city. Try the mofongo with roast pork. It's extra garlicky and packed with flavor. The rice and beans are always perfect, and so is their pernil (pork shoulder). The appetizers are also worth checking out.Small place, and it gets crowded quick. Totally a place to visit if you're in the city or curious about Dominican food.Vegetarian options: Not many options, but the few that are available are great.Parking: Really depends on time of day.“

“i love yu Ms Wendy , i ran to this store after seeing reviews on tik tok and i was not disappointed.. i ordered pepper steak rice cabbage and a side of yams ,, yu can literally taste the generations of love in the food . the meat is tender the yams tasted like i was on the island and the cabbage was refreshing,, the food will put yu in a coma i love this place because it has a different taste than all the other caribbean restaurants that all taste the same .. i will be back shortly definitely 10/10 i respect a black woman making it happen but more importantly yu can taste and feel the love ,, definitely a hidden gem- yur niece“

“Excellent Authentic Caribbean Cuisine in a nice sit down restaurant. Indoor bar and table seating, as well as outdoor seating which is dog friendly, weather permitting. Tropical Cocktails, Beer, Wine & Full bar menu. The food is amazing from the appetizers to dessert. There are several Vegan/ Vegetarian options also. All food is cooked to order and entrees come with 2 sides.“

“We've stopped by El Balconcito II on Castor Ave for a Sunday lunch - it was packed! Very popular with locals. They offer Portugese and Peruvian food - we enjoyed the Ceviche and Chorizo a lot. Ceviche was fresh and Chorizo came out - served in flames. Delicious! Staff are friendly and portions are huge! We've ended up ordering too much and had to ask for boxes to take them home.“

I didn't get platters this time, I ordered everything a la carte, by the pound. We got Pernil, chicharron, tostones, arroz con gandules, stewed beef, guineo, beans, and white rice with extra gravy. Online ordering was also a breeze, the layout was straight forward and very intuitive. It gave you options and even a small section for special requests. “Loved it! Two of us shared a lunch of spring rolls and pholourie appetizers and chickpeas potato, pumpkin, and butter paneer. It was clearly Indian influenced but distinctly different from a typical Indian restaurant. The flavor was awesome. The decor is very pleasing. It was quiet in the restaurant. With food that good there should have been a line to get in.“

“Just ate off the Family Spot Truck that is parked in front of the Rite Aid at Washington Lane and Stenton. DELICIOUS! We had an oxtail platter with rice and cabbage AND a jerk chicken platter with only cabbage. So good! Great flavor on all food. The chicken tastes like it was cooked on a BBQ grill. “Picked up food for my sisters B day dinner. Got 3 platters and a couple of sides to feed 6 people. We all ate twice and still had left overs! Everyone loved the Arroz con Gandules it was so flavorful. We got 2 platers with Arroz con gandules y pernil and 1 with Arroz blanco , habichuelas y bistec encebollao. Also ordered an order of each of Maduros, guineos con cebollas and chicharon. All this for under $50! Service was on point and with a smile. Place is clean and number system is perfect to keep order and know when it's your turn because it can get busy and chaotic. They expanded and closed off the wait area to have customers out of the elements and be more comfortable while you wait to be served.. Parking can be a challenge but we'll worth it.. I highly recommend this place.“

“Friendly owner and very yummy food. I went with a couple of my friends, we all got different things and everyone loved their food. My friend was born in Jamaica and it got her stamp of approval. It doesn't really have an ambiance, the tables are close together and it looks kind of dull in there so if you're looking to have a nicer sit down meal I wouldn't really recommend. Its pretty casual, but hey were here for the food and it was delicious. Prices were fair too.“

I wish they were open on Sunday's tho ??, but I understand that everyone needs time to recover from a busy week and prepare for the next. I always get the Oxtails over white rice, and collard greens and they have yet to fail. I typically order thru uber eats and the food is always fresh, hot, and on-time when it arrives. I've tried the Mac & cheese, sometimes 50/50 with that. The j*** chicken is very good, the rice and bean's are not dry like other places. I've had the curry goat and it is tender, man oh man. “Found this treasure place when I was looking for Dominican/ Mexican food for lunch at work. Really really good slow cook ribs. I really want to know how they seasoned it even there might be some recipes online. When you chewing the chicharrones the juice/fat just come out and it taste really really good.Ribs/ chicharrones(crispy slow cook pork belly), rice and beans, salad, and maduros(sweet fried plantains) for $13.Do not go to Applebees, TGI Fridays, McDonald’s, meals from local tea like this gives you better and healthier choices, and they deserved more customers.Part of ribs and chicharrones(the part doesn’t include much fat) became too hard/too dry to eat after long time cook, some of them are not eatable anymore since it’s too hard. There should be a way to avoid this problem. As I know the Cantonese type Chinese BBQ restaurant has slow cook ribs and crispy pork belly too (with different seasoning of course) , but theirs doesn’t have this problem, and pork belly are perfectly brown. I don’t know how they do it. Maybe cover meat with aluminum paper and be more accurate at the timing and temperature by cooking them not as long as Latin chicharrones(chicharrones taste harder/crispier). If you try pork belly from both restaurants you will know what I meant“
