But … I found the food to be lacking in taste (particularly the Gilda and Kroketas) and the presentation was similar to what my mother would have done. Not bad, just average. I read about its Basque heritage but nothing about the restaurant and food really felt Basque to me (and I lived in Spain for a few years, working in the Basque Country). And more importantly, I found the wine to be middling. Nonetheless, my friend and I had a great time and the service was excellent.“

We actually over-ordered. Service was very friendly, attentive, and efficient. Ambiance is cozy and contemporary. “Flavorful and satisfying! We started with the Callos, which combined a slightly sweet delectable sauce with astoundingly tender chopped tripe (I would liken it to a savory marshmallow, almost). The chorizo and garbanzo played their part serviceably. We followed it with the Uni Palabok. The uni and caviar were very tasty, and it was nice to try quality ingredients. However, the relative intensity of the sauce somewhat drowned out the more delicate flavors of the uni and caviar.(From my wife who grew up eating Palabok, it is *extremely* elevated)Our last entree was the Lengua de Champinon, and it was phenomenal! The tongue was expertly cooked and wonderfully tender, and the creamy mushroom sauce was a great pairing for it.For dessert, they don't have it listed on the menu yet, but they had some Tres Leches cake available. The cake was perfectly saturated with milk sauce while maintaining it's form, and instead of the standard whipped cream, it had meringue on top which was quite interesting! It was a bit pricey, but the menu is online so that's no surprise.“

Paired it with a couple glasses of Rosasera and a lovely Latin jazz band playing in the background and it was heaven. There were even some board games for us the play with while we waited on our food.Topped off the night by splitting a plate of the coquito flan served with the most adorable heart shaped spoons. “I truly, truly love Babs. I've been coming here for a few years specifically for the oysters with the champagne mignonette - it's phenomenal. The ambiance is sophisticated and intimate, great for a small group of friends or a date. It pains me to give them four stars but I have to because of the service - I swear the waitress looked right at my friend and I waiting for a table and hid in the back. There were plenty of tables, so the bartender asked us if we'd like to sit, and then went and asked her to seat us. I felt like everything we asked for bothered her and I couldn't say thank you enough. Maybe it was an off night for her I'm not sure but from other reviews seems to be a theme. Go for the food and the bar! The location is amazing and it's nice to sit outside in warm weather.“

“Delicious and authentic Puerto Rican food. The yellow rice is soft and tasty; it is very well made. The pernil is also very well cooked but does lack a bit of seasoning, it still taste good but I think they cook can add a bit more seasoning to it and it will be PERFECT! I always feel like I am back at home whenever I order from Mis Raices.“

“The churros were amazingly good, they greeted us kindly it’s definitely worth checking out not expensive like other places, there’s only one problem and that is there was a line for the valentine special and there were two women who just skipped the line and pretended to have a friend “waiting for them” so be attentive of who’s in front of you other than that 10/10 place!“

“Pil Pil gives the complete dining experience! Tapas style allows you to explore a bunch of different dishes and flavors, and they know how to combine flavors! SUCH a cozy atmosphere too, feels like you’re dining in a vineyard. The service is warm and welcoming. The Pan con Tomate was a great starter — perfectly toasted with fresh tomatoes on top. These guys do chorizo right ?? Empanadillas de Puerco y Chorizo and the Spanish chorizo were some of my favorite dishes. Highly recommend trying the chorizo! Mac & Cheese croquetas were bomb! Worth getting for the table. Carne Adobada and fries were delightful — tender, savory skirt steak and I LOVED the seasoned fries and sauce duo. If you’re into coffee, end the meal with the espresso ice cream. It’s the right amount of bitter and creamy.Highly recommend this place for quality food, new flavors, calming atmosphere, and friendly service.“
