“A lovely dine-in bar-restaurant in UWS. I have been there during the happy hours (3:30 to 6 PM) and I would recommend the same. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, best for a group or an intimate date. I would highly recommend the Consulate's Old Fashioned which has Mescal. The French 85 is also good.“

Let me set the scene for ya'll... 35 of my closest friends, Game of Thrones themed decor & fits, cocktails that made everyone say "I drink and I know things" and the most fire food in the neighborhood... the party was a SLAY. Tali, the company's event coordinator, is the sweetest, most hard-working, and detail-oriented, especially when it comes to your event. She even went above and beyond to surprise me with a GOT themed menu by naming my cocktails after details of life. For example, she named the spicy margarita after my dog, "Kevyn the Kingslayer." COME ON! How amazing is that?!Speaking of cocktails... the incredible bartender, Olivia, bartended Red Witch magic with the amazing cocktails she made for everyone. She even dressed along with the theme, with her sword, serving vibes that was giving Night's Watch combined with Red Keep of the Bar. Everyone kept raving about every cocktail she made with style and care.When it comes to the food, The Bonnie always delivers, so of course my hopes were high for Charlie's. AND MY HOPES WERE MET! The ham and cheese toastie platter was delicious. The franks in a blanket were some of the best I've ever had. The beef sliders were a HUGE hit. And there were veggie options so we had the veggie quesadilla and the mac and cheese bites which were a crowd favorite.Overall, this party at Charlie's made me feel like Daenerys Targaryen on top of her Throne, like the Queen that was promised. “It was a day from hell and I took my daughter with me to happy hour for dinner. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. Our waiter was one of the kindest people I've met and the whole staff was amazing. The food was delicious and the drink specials were more than fair!! “I pass the Penrose frequently, a block from the 2nd Ave Q entrance on 83rd. It is a perfect spot to meet up after work for drinks and snacks. Good music, friendly atmosphere. I tell everyone, my husband and I had brunch with our wedding party there. Great place. Recently my dad passed, and when trying to decide where to celebrate his life with extended family and friends my sister and I decided on The Penrose and emailed the events manager Chaya. She helped with everything, never got tired or short with her answers. We would think of all our questions after we signed off. Chaya made recommendations, helped our ideas come to life, and made a difficult moment easy. Day of memorial: Chaya and her team created the perfect atmosphere. Our server Emma and bartender Audrey were exceptional. The guests kept telling us what great service, atmosphere and food, but repeated to us how great the servers were. We had 30 people, in the back area with tables and bar seating. Chaya helped us choose the right amount of food, and beverages. Emma kept the area clean with out being intrussive, Audrey kept us “hydrated”. We had a buffet food area - food was great!They put to go boxes out for guest to take treats home. Thanks to Chaya we were able to truly celebrate dad, she had his play list, which we provided pumped in and a slide show with his great life moments on the screen over the bar. He served in WWII, a decorated war hero, with great taste in music. They also insured the Honor Guard ceremony, presenting flag and playing of taps went off seamlessly. As I said in my first paragraph The Penrose is a great place, but on this day it was exceptional. “I went here yesterday for lunch oh my was I blown away, the star of the show was our server Ayleen the woman is brilliant her smile lit up our day so professional and respectful she also has an extensive food knowledge like I've never seen before she knew every ingredient and exactly how to explain the menu, now let me tell you the place was super packed she had so many tables I saw this woman fly through the restaurant servicing quickly and with a smile on her face she's absolutely amazing she gave me manager vibes I hope this place knows what they have she's one in a million, I'm actually a restaurant manager myself. “Came here for a bday lunch before a Broadway show. My parents were coming in from Penn Station so this location was terrific. Service was excellent from start to finish - I had left a note when confirming the reservation that it was a bday and three people greeted us with a happy bday message upon arrival. Our food was delicious (I had the breakfast sandwich and fresh squeezed orange juice) and as a bday surprise a low key dessert was sent to the table with a candle (perfect for our celebrant). I’ll be back in the future and recommend for a nice but unpretentious pre-show brunch/lunch for sure!“

Unless money comes easy to you, this isn’t a casual eatery in my opinion (perhaps lunch though, as I’ve only ever been here for dinner). It’s definitely not cheap but for a special occasion it is a wonderful treat.The cocktails are all Broadway themed which I think is fun, and the one I had was packed with fresh, muddled fruit which was delicious.For food, I can’t recommend enough the goat cheese and pistachio soufflé, so tasty!! I also get the steak frites which is always solid in my book. My other guests enjoyed their crusted branzino and chicken with lemon and sage; two other solid choices. My mother in law had the meatloaf which she said she enjoyed but was perhaps slightly too sweet for her taste. Although, admittedly, her tolerance for anything sweet is notably low, so interpret that how you will. And for dessert the banana split was outrageously good, especially the caramelized banana and toasted marshmallow. The only thing I would change there would be to swap out the scoop of strawberry ice cream with chocolate flavor, as the strawberry clashed a bit in my opinion.Again, this place is wonderful and I can’t wait until I can afford to go back and try other things on their menu.“

“I never write reviews but I had to make the exception for Bar Room. I came in on a whim for the first time last year and have been returning as often as possible. Siobhan the bartender has been great ! She makes amazing cocktails and even better conversation. What I tell my friends is come for the drinks, stay for the bartenders. With a combination of staff and amazing drinks this will be my regular spot for a long time.“

“Ten out of ten would recommend !! I went with four friends & we all enjoyed ourselves. It wasn't busy at all on a Tuesday night. This place is still fairly new, opened less than a year ago. The vibes, the decore, the service were all A+ ! I know a few of the reviews mentioned the choice in music but we didn't mind it at all. It was a mix of soft jazz, soul music etc. The volume was perfect, table conversation not a problem. The owner was nice enough to come introduced himself, take in our feedback in offering vegan dishes on the menu. I wasn't able to eat anything other than the vegan appetizer they offered but my friends enjoyed the dishes they ordered. I wouldn't mind coming back here again at all as it's a SEXY chill spot with great vibes & drinks. Nice addition to the neighborhood! P.S Bring your wallets, this place isn't cheap =) Enjoy !!“

“Overall a good spot for a brunch. The ambiance is lovely as there was a piano player and the shades were up. We requested a seat by the window but they weren't able to accommodate which is no big deal, they were able to seat us one row away from the window and that was even better for me. I ordered the burrata and the cheeseburger. The yucca fries are unique in texture and satisfyingly crunchy. The bun on the cheeseburger was a lot so I opted to only eat half of it. The burrata was creamy and went well with the balsamic caviar. We ordered the mango coconut panna cotta as well which was divine, would go back there just for that. It was also beautiful to look at! One star off because the service was not great -- it took a very long time to place our order for our entrees and our dessert, which kept us there for 2 hours. Servers themselves were great.“

“Had Easter brunch with daughter and family last Sunday. A group of 6 including 2 grand kids (3 & 2) who enjoyed their pancakes. We had tuna tartar, octopus and thai salad for appetizers and they were all all excellent. For main, had the salmon, crab cake benedict and more. Overall food was great especially the octopus. No complaints on service and atmosphere. Definitely would come back.“

The rice is bouncy and chewy and tastes good with mushrooms.My only quip would be the food came too fast:3 I went in early to snatch a good spot and ordered food immediately. So for the whole hour before the performances, I had to eat while everyone else came in and waited for their friends and starved and stared at my food lol. A little awkward before the light turns dimmer, but I am hungry.The bill for walk in tables include the ticket price so the tip was floated higher. I was in a rush to catch the performers so I didn’t have time to change the number— it will be about $5 higher than if you buy online with the booking fee so not a big deal anyways.“
