“I’ve been coming to Rolo’s since they first opened and they really never disappoint. The food just gets better and better. Everything is amazing but my hands down favorite is the shrimp. I’d say it’s easily some of if not the best shrimp I’ve ever had in my life. The whole menu just compliments itself from the Calabrian chili butter to the wagyu steak. Also, Sitting in the back of the restaurant is such a cool experience because you get to watch the chefs work their magic on that wood fire grill. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in NYC and in my top 5.“

The tasting menu options were all encompassing with their best dishes and we really loved all of them. The desert experience was out of the world! We had their rendition of a Caeser salad, which was enormous. The deep fried burrata was also quite big… and truly unique and scrumptious. I could have drank the cheesy broth all night. The fried hen was nice. The black cod was as well. The sticky pudding with lime ice cream dessert was massive, but the two of us managed. Also - get the potatoes…. A great compliment to everything.“

As we were a table of two sitting in the middle-every time they walked by their tails of the shirt would hit us and our table. If you’re going to wear a very baggy loose shirt-tuck it in-to prevent this annoyance.No one seemed to be pressed for time-taking orders-fresh drinks-etc. the doorman stated when the next reservation was-as a warning not to linger more than 1.30 hours, but the waitstaff seemed clueless to this as it was she and her absence that kept us there almost 2 hours. Mind you-we were enjoying the wine, food, and conversation so we didn’t mind, except we had show tickets and were almost late. The waitress had an air of royalty attitude- better than us-as we are lucky she would visit our table and take our order. This is how she made me feel.Food is as delicious as beautifully plated. The atmosphere and food stole the show-the staff needs training-I’m not going to remove a star from the review for the staffing issues as the restaurant as a whole-and their food-is stellar. “The atmosphere is very pleasant and the service correct and efficient. It has a Michelin star but it does not force you to order set menus or any specific dish. The duck is super delicious and I would say it is the star dish of the house, the quantity is abundant, it is enough for 3 people. The pastas are also very delicious, the bucatini amatriciana comes in a good quantity, but the ripiene is a small dish. You have to book in advance and in general it is a very worthwhile experience.“

Duck pastrami hash & poached eggs, caramelized onion, parsley salsa verde & local greens. Poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the salsa was great. The duck and the hash was other worldly. Tons of duck. In almost a stew of small potatoes perfectly softened. In some type of gravy. Wow. Even the greens are great. Nice light dressing. Almost salty. Service was friendly and attentive. My daughter said her avocado toast was excellent. I don't make it to Brooklyn that frequently but can't wait to go back to this great spot. I didn't drink that day but they had a nice looking and well stocked bar.“

We've been staying in the Franklin Guesthouse (hotel adjacent to Madre) for a couple of nights and decided to give Madre a shot - boy were we in for a treat! For food, we got the Frutti di Mare, Croquetas, Brussels Sprouts, Cornbread Madeleines (compliments from chef) and Chicken - massive MASSIVE props to Chef Bryan and his very talented team. To say that they cooked "well" would be the understatement of 2022. They absolutely blew our minds with top quality medley of ingredients, depth of flavor, and masterful execution in every way. Cocktails were fun and delectable, which added the perfect "pop" to the culinary rocket ship that Madre served up. Just when my wife and I were ready to call it a night, Chef Bryan and Armando were kind enough to bring out the Pot de Creme for us, which was the bow and ribbon on this very special dinner. My only regret of the night was not having enough stomachs to enjoy more of what Madre could serve up. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Madre!“
“I went to the grill with my fiancé and friends after he proposed to celebrate. It's truly an elevated dining experience that makes the night special. The women's restroom has a lounge with beautiful vanity mirrors. The pasta a la presse was a highlight of the night because it was delicious but also because it was prepared table side with an explanation of its origin. The bread for the table had a lot of variety and was delicious. For my entree I had the lobster which was beautiful and tasted divine. The baked Alaska is a must for dessert since it's set ablaze at the table! If you're having trouble making a reservation we were able to secure ours with the Dorsa app.“

John and Melissa, the owners did their research and it shows in the food. The place itself is charming, especially the outdoor patio with “Betty” the apple tree anchoring it. Different flavors, different techniques and some Asian fusion aspects that pair so perfectly well with the classic American style fried chicken. Tali, the company's event coordinator, is the sweetest, most hard-working, and detail-oriented, especially when it comes to your event. She even went above and beyond to surprise me with a GOT themed menu by naming my cocktails after details of life. For example, she named the spicy margarita after my dog, "Kevyn the Kingslayer." COME ON! How amazing is that?!Speaking of cocktails... the incredible bartender, Olivia, bartended Red Witch magic with the amazing cocktails she made for everyone. She even dressed along with the theme, with her sword, serving vibes that was giving Night's Watch combined with Red Keep of the Bar.
