“Food & service were excellent! 4 out of 6 of us ordered the 8 course tasting menu with the wine paring. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented. All the wine choices were very good. Wait staff was very attentive, personable & every drink the bartender made, matched the care and presentation of the food. The lobster risotto & fish and chips were also delicious. “I went there 4 times already and I must say that for a recent new comer to the US, this place is a hidden gem. Great craft beer selection and Evan (the owner) is a pretty awesome dude. I am a punk rock sound mixer and filmmaker from Lisbon, Portugal that has been touring the world since 1996 and I really thought that now living in corky expensive Westchester that it would be rare to feel and get in touch with “real scrappy people”, I guess I was wrong so thank you Growlers for having me, much appreciated. “We live in western Connecticut and traveled to Peekskill for a show at The Paramount Theater, where we decided to enjoy an early dinner. This was our first dining experience at 'The Central,' which we chose because they had Paella on the menu, which is a rare occurrence on most restaurant menus. We began our meal with Baratta Toast topped with baratta and mushrooms, and it was delicious! The Paella was served in the pan where it was cooked, and it was hot, which was a good thing. They also let you know on their menu that one order is plenty of food for two, and they are 100% correct. The rice was cooked perfectly with just a mild crust at the bottom and surrounded with fresh shrimp, mussels, and squid. I say 'BRAVO' to the chef. The Central is not outrageously priced, features a casual dining atmosphere, and is right next to the Amtrak commuter tracks, which is kind of cool. The next time we come to town for a Paramount Theater show, you'll find us at 'The Central'!“

“Situated in an old ammunition depot, the recently renovated first class, or "firstie", club has a much more exclusive and bespoke feeling than the days of yore. Gone are the sticky floors, the dripping roof from the back room, the broken foosball tables, the jukebox that seemed to host only various versions of the song, "Wagon Wheel", or the bartenders that would serve you a pitcher of Jack and a pitcher of Coke on a Thursday just because you asked for it. taco Tuesday and wing Wednesday are pretty popular, as is Thursday evening following spirit dinner when the place is packed with the sons and daughters of slum and gravy. Extensive selection of beer on tap, and the menu is generally very good. Their version of a clucking Russian is as good and attempt at re-creating perfection as I have seen. Worth a visit.“

“Went there and brought some friends to see my friends The Riskos and their band .Nice venue, a little crowded and need to work on sound. I had to tell the band we couldn't hear either singer until the second set when it was adjusted . After that perfect ? .Nice staff and great service, didn't eat but will next time and will update on food . I recommend it !Parking: Nice sized lot right behind the place .“

“Char is a great place to eat. Incredible attention to detail, service is great even at a busy time. Great cocktails - Fizzy Peach! Not in the menu any more but they’ll still make it. You’ll see the man who runs the place everywhere shaping everything that’s happening all the time. Runs a tight ship but staffed properly so they have the time to do a good job. Men’s room is in perfect condition always - looks and smells new. You know that if that is so right then all the things you can’t see must be perfect too.“

“What a gem, of a place, definitely a keeper to revisit. My husband and I went with friends last night (Friday) we had a great time, everyone was friendly; very welcoming, music was great. The food was absolutely delicious, Ben, Jay thank you for your hospitality, we will be back soon.“

“Modern space with ample seating, bar, and private room for large groups/parties. Our waiter, Robbie, was attentive and friendly. We had a large party in the private space and he kept up with bussing and drinks. The pretzels and brussels were my favorite appetizers. For dinner, I ordered the Garnerrito and my sister ordered the CBC (which I preferred). The Garnerrito felt more like a lunch item. Can't wait to return for a brunch. I hear it's a great time with a DJ.“

Allow me to recommend Docas for you...you cant go wrong with their entrees of either meats or seafood...grilled branzini is excellent...on Saturdays they have dobrada, which translates to tripe...and if you find their Osso Bucco on Sundays, you HAVE to get it...homemade desserts and great place to chat a soccer game...or just "hear" Portuguese ppl be...Portuguese“

“The new owners are basically doing their best to try to create a little music venue on the weekends. Jungle Love was on tonight and the place was hopping. We've eaten here a couple of times in the food's been good. I was a little disappointed in the chicken scarp as the potatoes were cold in the middle was kind of strange. Otherwise everything there is excellent“

“I took my daughters there for a 7 year old birthday party. It was cool for the kids, and the pizza was good. I would have liked some more game options, especially since they have a sports bar section for adults. They also have an axe throwing setup as well. Part of this place is under renovation. I would definitely go back for an adult night out after renovations are complete. Looks like it may be even more fun.“

“A cool local bar. our waiter/bartender was so sweet ? wish I could remember her name. We had mozzarella sticks, dirty tater tots, and teriyaki garlic wings. Portions were big ! Flavor on point. We had Jack and cokes that were perfect ! May not look like anything when you walk in, but don't judge a book by its cover! I almost did, and I'm glad I didn't. The tables had all New york sports teams. Sorry, I missed that because I would have picked the Knicks one, lol. Thank you for a great time and great bar food.“

“Great dive bar that I stopped at spontaneously after walking around Peekskill. Ordered the French Onion soup and a cheeseburger with fries. Food was great (although I prefer swiss cheese on my F.O.S. and not provolone) and the bartender was very nice, too. It was fun chatting with her. The place was empty (for lunch anyway) but I didn't mind as I don't like crowds. It was me and another guy at the bar. He was annoying but she handled him well. I'm guessing this is more of a nighttime hangout, but I definitely liked the vibe here.“
