“Was headed down to Latham Sunday to hit some shops we don't have here in southern Vermont and my husband joked, as I was leaving, "so we're having Indian for dinner?" I hadn't even thought of it (usually it's just when I am coming home from the airport). I ordered through yelp/grubhub as I was finishing my shopping and then headed over. I'd never tried Karavalli but it came highly recommended from a friend and she was right: it's awesome. As far as the takeout experience using yelp, it was easy to order and add a note (I always get takeout without napkins and whatnot to eliminate waste), ready right at the earliest moment it could be and REALLY well-packed. When I entered the space, which is very nice, I was greeted by a friendly host and then by the bartender who grabbed my order for me. The food was delicious and still hot when I got back home (about a 50-minute drive). The saag paneer is insanely fresh and had a nice amount of fresh ginger -- yummmmm. The chicken tikka masala was decadent and while I think it could have had a bit more chicken, it was delicious. We got the plain naan and it was chewy with a little crispness. You can order an 8 oz side of tamarind chutney. I did and have been putting it on literally everything. I will DEFINITELY make Karavalli a regular stop when making my trips to Latham for ulta/homegoods/michaels/target runs. I'd also like to try their Sunday brunch and to eat in the restaurant at some point!“
“They made our wedding cake! Presentation was perfect and it tasted heavenly to boot. Totally worth it to be able to share the full cake cutting and eating experience at my wedding. “My boyfriend treated me to Yono's for Valentine's Day, and Yono's was probably one of the best culinary experiences I've ever had! We had their special Valentine's menu, which offered a 6-course tasting menu, and we decided to go with the wine pairings, which was an excellent choice. It was my first time experiencing the beauty of wine pairings, and I was amazed at how elegantly the wine enhanced each course - their selections of wines were *chefs kiss* The complexity, flavor, and intricacy of each dish were phenomenal. The 6-course meal featured chilled creek oysters, butter poached scallops, root vegetable potage, foie gras, filet mignon, and dark chocolate gateau--each dish was a masterpiece and so beautifully presented. My personal favorite was the foie gras. While Yono's is definitely on the pricey side, it's perfect for your fancy shmancy occasions. I'm looking forward to returning to explore their regular menu! When another restaurant was less than accommodating about taking our party of 18, Jeff not only was very happy to take our party last minute but within minutes had our whole table set up in a private area. “About 18% of the world's population lives in China while the U.S. has approximately 4.5% of the population. I've tended to think of Chinese cuisine as a monolithic entity rather than a dynamic mix of regional cuisines. I've been trying to address my ignorance by eating at Chinese restaurants that advertise their regionality. Hong Kong Bakery & Bistro is Cantonese/Guangdong. From my very limited research, the cuisine is light and mild, steamed rather than stir fried. This is certainly a simplification but it is a starting point. One of the more famous dishes from the region is dim sum. Dim sum means "touch the heart". They are small steamed or fried savory items, snacks. These are the items I focused on during my visits to the bakery/bistro. Each item was different enough from the other to make for a pleasant and satisfying meal. Steamed dishes - beef ball with bean curd skin, shrimp with spinach dumpling, roast duck dumpling, rice rolls with roast duck. Fried dishes included deep fried pork dumpling and fried shrimp ball. Most of the rolls were made with glutinous rice of varying thickness or cornstarch, either steamed or deep fried. The sauces were also wide-ranging, savory to sweet, and added much to the meal. What I didn't know - dim sum is usually accompanied with tea. I can see how that can elevate the experience. Since it is a bakery, I also tried some of those items. Custard buns, coconut custard buns, coconut pudding, dried pork buns, and even tiramisu were tested. Some notes - The dried pork buns added pork floss (dried pork manipulated to the texture of rough cotton candy) to the outside of the bun. Coconut pudding - subtle fragrance and flavor of coconut coagulated with agar agar as the gelling agent. It's more "bouncy" than jello - not my favorite. I think some of the baked items were bought from a wholesaler - there's a whole lot there. The most underwhelming item was the tiramisu. Well, who gets tiramisu at a Cantonese place? I guess I do. This taught me a lesson as this item seemed to have languished in the display case for a bit longer than it should. Overall, it's a really good place to try different dim sum. A word of warning - Italian desserts might be saved for another place.“

“I ordered my steak medium and it came to the table ( one hour later) very rare. I had to send it back twice more. I went with my girlfriend on Valentine's Day and every female diner was offered a flower but when our check came, no flower offered. I asked the hostess at the stand when you walk in and she said " let me get the manager, he needs to hear these things". The manager comes out and says the regional manager was on the line cooking and couldn't come out and gave me a card. Our waiter comes over and was extremely rude and indicated he didn't know we were romantic. I asked him if it mattered as every other female was offered one. The manager does not care that they come off as homophobic and just wanted us to leave. Would not recommend if you are LGBTQ to dine here. I know I will never go back.“

“I have no issues with Paesans. I used to not care for it when I moved here from downstate. I've slowly come around to it overtime. No other pizza option really. Staff is very nice and attentive. Our fav is buffalo chicken pizza or bbq chicken pizza. Not tried anything else really. The service is fast as long as they're not swamped with orders. Inside of the place is nice and clean.
