“Joya is a staples and a traditional for our family. The food is fantastic and the best quality sushi around. The family who run Joya are amazing people who go out of their way to make you feel the love in the environment, hospitality, and the quality of their food.

Our favourite items are their fish cake soup, the spicy tuna hand rolls (TO DIE FOR), and the avocado salad, which is perfect in its simplicity. We could drink the dressing.

Joya is top-notch and is without a doubt our favourite sushi spot.

“Just left Sushi Ya and I already can’t wait to go back. My daughter and I stopped in for lunch on a random weekday and it completely exceeded what we expected. We both ordered lunch specials and everything that came out was so good. The rice was perfectly seasoned, the fish was fresh and clean tasting, and the portions were generous without being over the top. My daughter usually picks at sushi when we go out, but she cleaned her plate and even asked if we could come again next week. That never happens.
What made the whole experience even better was the people. While we were waiting for our food we ended up chatting with two girls at the next table. They were so nice and easy to talk to. They had a little baby with them who was super chill the whole time, just smiling and looking around. We ended up talking for a bit about kids, food, and random stuff, and it felt really natural. It turned what could have been a quick lunch into something that actually felt warm and friendly. You don’t get that vibe at most places.
The staff were attentive without hovering. Our server checked in a couple times, made sure we had everything, and never rushed us even though it was lunch hour. The place itself is clean, bright, and comfortable. Nothing fancy or overdone, just a solid, welcoming spot that feels like it’s run by people who actually care about the food and the customers.
We’ve tried a few other sushi spots around here and a lot of them either feel rushed or the quality is hit-or-miss. This one got both right. The lunch meal was legitimately good, not just “okay for the price.” The flavors were balanced, nothing tasted fishy or dry, and everything was presented nicely without looking like they were trying too hard.
We’re already planning to come back, probably on a weekend next time so we can try a few more rolls. My daughter is already talking about what she wants to order. Places like this are hard to find, the kind where the food is solid and the atmosphere makes you want to stay a little longer. Meeting those two girls and their baby just added to it. Super nice people and a really pleasant lunch overall.

“First time trying this place and we ordered over the phone for takeout. Our order was ready exactly when they said it would be, 30 minutes right on the dot.

I’m usually not a big fan of takeout because I prefer sitting down and enjoying a meal, but the attention to detail in the packaging really stood out. Everything was packed well, the food tasted fresh and good, and the pricing was very fair.

“Ask for the original Korean bibimpap and you'll get the genuine flavourful Korean dish at this location run by Korean owners passionate about Korean cuisine. Just adjust the amount of kochujjang (red pepper paste) to your preference.

Whenever I'm in Georgetown, I have bibimpap for lunch and never get tired of it.

They have other options, too: if you want soup, I recommend their comforting and filling udong.

Their bibimbap, however, is the one to try for its genuine taste that almost transports you to Korea.“

“Come here regularly for lunch. This is the only sushi spot that makes sushi correctly. Sushi is meant to be room temperature and yoyo sushi always makes sure of this. I despise visiting other sushi places where I’m being served sushi that is freezing cold straight out of the fridge, it ruins the taste completely. Yoyo always makes sure the sushi is just right and I’m always given big portions. My order is usually the sushi lunch B and they never disappoint. Highly highly recommend.“
