“Had an evening food tasting here - there were several courses of delicious food provided with the experience. We added on the apple cider vinegar drink, which was the right choice to warm us up for the winter food tasting.Although I had noted with my booking that I'm gluten-free, they brought me a few courses with gluten. I had to keep checking and waiting for a revised course to be provided when the mistake was made. If you have a food sensitivity/allergy, keep this in mind and make sure you check with each serving/meal.If you do a group booking, make sure to let them know you want separate servings as they were bringing us one plate for each course for our group, until we asked them to bring us separate ones. Considering the food tasting is an expensive experience and they charge per person, this was the first time I was brought a single plate/serving for a group booking.“
“First of all, wow! Best poke bowls I’ve ever had. My friend and I came here and ordered the Tomyum Salmon Poke and the Aburi Salmon Don, along with some baked mussels. The fish is so fresh and they even give you free miso soup with every bowl and a little utensil bag with a hand towel and toothpick. I also recommend the onigiri (perfect snack). I’ll definitely be back soon!“
“Loved the little food cart and the overall atmosphere in the food cart pod. The Scotch Egg Sando sandwich looked impressive but ultimately the deep fried egg did not deliver on flavor (or texture). The bread was also very plain and didn't taste like shokupan.Overall, we loved the concept and menu and would come again to try a more traditional sando!“
“Ramen Ryoma in Portland, Oregon, is a haven for ramen enthusiasts and Japanese cuisine lovers alike. Their ramen is a flavorful delight, boasting rich broth and perfectly cooked noodles that satisfy even the most discerning palates. The addition of takoyaki and karaage adds a delightful twist to the dining experience, showcasing the chef's expertise in crafting authentic Japanese dishes. Conveniently located, Ramen Ryoma invites diners to indulge in a culinary journey without straying far from the city center. The friendly staff enhances the overall experience, ensuring each visit is met with warmth and hospitality, making it a must-visit destination for foodies in Portland.“
“I've always loved the food here and have gotten it often at the peoples co op market. for years the food has been full of heart and vibrancy and absolute care and , well , love. I ordered yesterday and all new things to try arrived to my home that each felt like hugs inside . so delicious and so beautiful. im so glad you all exist. this is true nourishment . thank you !“
“Highly recommend the food. The service staff seem to be evolving and not particularly well trained. Our server was ten days old. Part of the order forgotten. But, when asked about items on the menu, “I really don't know” was the standard answer. But you can trust this, everything was so fresh and yummy.“
“This place is great- it’s fresh, it’s fair priced, it’s healthy, it has 4 options menu what makes it better because food is prepared daily like the ones at home. The chef is such a friendly, polite and honest person that makes you feel welcome. Also it’s local and we support small family businesses.Vegetarian options: I ordered the kale with vegetables and I really enjoyed it! Highly recommended!“
“Had a lovely early dinner here before a show at Moda on a Thursday. Service was prompt, extremely knowledgeable, and everyone was so kind and helpful. I have the palate of a five year old child so I stuck to the basics but the others in my party had much more elaborate selections that they loved! All around delicious and fresh dishes, plus you can balance out your meal with some donuts, right next door ?“
“Small, cute little shop! Nice selection of drinks and Onigiri, my kids loved them. The only thing I didn’t really like was that each Onigiri was wrapped in plastic wrap and kept warm like that; I think it would be better to wrap in food safe paper and foil so the possibility of plastic particles getting into the food is lessened.“
“SERIOUSLY so impressed. Came in today and let the kind gentleman to surprise us. We also ordered the uni lovers bowl. Total for us was $198 but the sushi was definitely some of the best and most fresh we had. We will be back. Price reflects quality. We are SO happy to finally try this restaurant.“
“Okay... I mean, teriyaki is teriyaki right? Wrong. Their chicken and beef were tender and juicy, the dressing for the salad was creamy and not overly sweet. The meat was seasoned so well that I didn't even reach for any of the sauces conveniently placed on the table. The guy working the front was very nice and everything was really delicious.Vegetarian options: Per usual, there are tofu options. I did hear someone sub out their rice for broccoli so there are options and some flexibility.Parking: Depending on when you're here, it's a small parking lot shared with a number of other business. It can be a bit of a challenge to get a spot. Usually only a small wait for something to open up though.“
“Love love love EVERYTHING about Sushi Mazi. Food, absolutely delicious! My most favorites are classic aged ahi tuna, blue fin tuna top with black garlic, salmon skin appetizer and sushi salad. Will be able to stop in Portland without coming here. I understand why they have so many regulars, the staffs and owners are so warm and wonderful. Recommend trying their wide range of sake. Cheers!“
“Go here for an authentic old school Japanese sushi house experience! Ingredients are top notch. With specials featuring the best of the catch. I look forward to going back with a large group. And straying a bit further off of the standard items.“
“Some of crazy good sushi. Excellent salads and sashimi. Really clean and simple menu. Nice and helpful staff, even when they are busy and limited on space. It's more of a date spot than a family spot ( only because space is limited). They are worth the wait if busy. I can't wait to go back.“
“Super stoked to have a solid Chinese takeout style spot so close to me. The lunch special was a great price and the portions were perfect. The food was quality. I’m a sucker for crispy beef and was super pleased with my order.Crab puffs was killer as well“
“A small cozy place with great Ramen! So far I've only had their Ramen for a quick lunch, and I like it. Their Ramen is better than some of these Teriyaki places and probably at the same level as other Japanese restaurants I've been to.Will come back and try their other stuff.“
“The service and attention are excellent, the food is prepared with fresh ingredients and the portions are generous, the price is perfect and the place is extremely clean and I mention it because some establishments do not take care of the cleanliness of the place, the best in the area .“
“We have enjoyed Yoko's sushi for almost 20 years. The fish is always fresh, and the combinations are delicious. We love Taka's Tuna, Hamachi nigiri, Thai roll and Samon nigiri. I recommend arriving early, sitting at the sushi bar and watching Yoko work. Try some of the affordable sakes available. We've enjoyed every one we tried.“
“My recent visit to the Portland Food Hall for a quick dinner amidst my busy conference schedule was a delightful experience. This gem of a spot boasts a diverse array of culinary options catering to various tastes, which truly impressed me. Despite my visit coinciding with the peak dinner rush, the vibrant atmosphere was matched by the efficient service that seemed to flow seamlessly throughout the venue. The standout for me was the ramen – each spoonful was a revelation, with a rich, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles that provided a comforting and satisfying meal. It was an absolutely delicious and hearty dish that served as a highlight of my dining experience. The Portland Food Hall is a must-visit for anyone looking for a quality dining experience with the convenience of multiple cuisines under one roof. Whether you're pressed for time or looking to savor a leisurely meal, this place caters to all with its exceptional offerings.“
“Some of the best bang for buck food in the area. Portions are generous. I can barely finish the chicken and rice even when very hungry. Guy working at the front is very kind and enthusiastic and always greets me with a smile. If you need something to fill you up from empty and don’t feel like spending $15+, this is the go to.“
“Sushi and small plate restaurant in the west side downtown area. The sushi rolls here are quite tasty, and the crunchy rice is better than most places. The ingredients all taste quite fresh which can make or break good sushi, but overall it’s nothing mind blowing. The garlic chicken was pretty mediocre. The tempura vegetables were nice and lightly fried, the sauce provided was adequate.Overall I’m glad that I tried it out, but considering the pricing to quality ratio I can say that I’m glad I went but I wouldn’t go again.“
“Ordered the chicken sandwich and potato salad. Both were surprisingly complex and delicious. Guy at the window was friendly. The only seating here was benches outside so we took it to go since it was cold. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu! Everyone in my group loved it.“
“This place is a real hidden gem here in West Linn. I’m really enjoyed coming here. The food is freaking awesome. And the yakisoba is pretty amazing. I also really like the chicken teriyaki. The people who run the shop I really nice. it’s always super clean and a really good value.“
“We went here for the first time last week. We are moving into the Woodstock neighborhood and we knew we'd have to find a new sushi spot. Shoko pleasantly surprised us with the quality of the food, wide menu selection, and extremely friendly staff. I'm sure we will become regulars!“
“11:40a on a MondayThere are three tables, all occupied. We order the Inari, a Norimaki, and a Miso Soup. We eat the first two standing at a small bar. Then a table by the window frees up and we enjoy the miso soup there. It's all so good. We then get the three Dango to finish, and order a couple of coffee drinks and a Canele to go with them.Delicious flavors, unique atmosphere. The whole experience is delightful. Thank you!“
“Small place. Some outdoor seats available. But today, some folks from my office made our orders online and some people went to pick it up. I ordered a Tiger roll and California roll. Everything tasted fresh and the portions were generous. Very worth the price for the quality.“
“Last week I was at the Convention Center for a conference, and a few of us came here for lunch. I ordered a combo platter for lunch, which included a Salmon Belly skewer. Seriously, it was the best salmon I've ever had. Just now, a week later, I thought of it again and had to call the restaurant to find out what it was. Go here, eat, be happy!“
“Love this place! The sushi offers pretty generous portions of fish. So far, its the best sushi we've found in the area. All the options are delicious and taste fresh. The salmon melts in your mouth. Our favorite is the TNT roll; it comes piled real high with crab and tuna.Decided to write this review when I ordered from the Powell location online and was called within a few minutes of placing my order by the other location. They apologized and said that the Powell location was doing a catered event and wasn't able to do any takeout that night, but they would make my order and deliver it to my door for free. They worked as fast as they could and got it to my front door at the same time it was originally supposed to be ready, even though the delivery person had to drive all the way across the city. Their customer service was absolutely great! Also, the sushi was soooo good!Just really appreciate these guys. Definitely our go-to sushi spot in town. Also, if you haven't been in the market that this store is located within, it's worth a look. They have everything there, and you'll for sure end up walking out with something!“
“This place is magnificent. The atmosphere is exactly what I look for in a place, but most almost importantly is the delicious sushi that they craft in the kitchen. The Unicorn role is truly a Unicorn, I've never found such an exquisite tasting role of sushi. I don't know what they do with that thing, but it's actually a flavorful experience I can only get from a fine dining restaurant. So many complexities that exist within that role. The green machine is another favorite. Whatever goes into making that sauce is just delicious!Just as important is the service. Jared that works behind the bar has always been so incredible. He is a genuinely kind guy and cares about you as if you'r e one of his closest friends (and this is only my second time having him as a server at the bar in the past year!). I'm so glad he still works at bamboo sushi because I remembered his warm welcoming and service from the last time I was there. The only thing that has kept me from coming here more often is the price of sushi, but I can say that the price is justified. I also think that they either dropped the prices since the last time I came there . . . Or I can now afford it, not sure!I always talk VERY highly of Bamboo Sushi and it's my #1 recommendation for Sushi when people visit Portland and it's because of your trifecta of delicious food, incredible staff, and wonderful ambience.Vegetarian options: Green Machine“
“Decided to try this place since it's kind of close to my work, and all the other sushi places around have been kind of disappointing (either too expensive or lacking quality). I got a California roll and an order of gyoza - calling it in was more cost effective than using Grub Hub/Door Dash etc. Service was super fast, prices AWESOME, and food was delicious! So much so, I ordered it two days in a row. Very impressed with this place, and I will without a doubt be back again.“
“UPDATE EDIT: March 2024I would give 11/10Been a while since we’ve been here but we already knew it would be worth coming back!!The rainbow roll I got was even better than I was expecting. Perfect for me I love their roles and didn’t realize I had missed them so much.Only took one picture because I was too busy enjoying the meal.Hard to choose what to try because I know everything will be good.Spendy but worth it. Service was great, fast and I loved the ‘08 songs they had playing.Takoyaki was really good, first time ever trying.Older: August 2022Staff is very friendly and attentive. We got 2 bowls of ramen, gyoza, and 2 different rolls. The rolls in my opinion are silly big. I'm not sure why they make them so large because sometimes it's hard to eat, and it falls apart. I wish the cuts of fish for the rolls were a little larger. The proportion just seems a little off. The ramen on the other hand is hands down the best around. Broth so flavorful and all around filling. The gyoza was light and crispy. Not like any I've had and quickly eaten up.I don't come here often and we only stopped by for the ramen today, but this is definitly a spot to try out for yourself. It's clean, beautiful decor, on the higher side price wise but a pleasant dining experience.Super clean and nice inside. Their plates for sushi and bowls for soup are really cute and not cheap looking at all. They remodeled recently and just looks really good. Definitly on the spendy side but worth every penny. Sushi is really good, large rolls.“
“I always forget how much better Takahashi is than the super fast "train" places are (which always fill the void, the quality just isn't as high.) Staff here is very quick, responsive and friendly. We visited on a Wednesday night when they offer 25% off the sushi menu (frontside). Makes it a pretty good deal! My husband and I ate our fill, and we both had lunch leftovers. The fish here is SO nice; top quality, appropriately sized cuts for nigiri and very fresh. The tempura items are cooked perfectly. My favorite nigiri is the seared salmon. Check their hours before heading out. We always forget they are closed on Monday/Tuesday.“
“Came here for happy hour and was able to be seated right away. It was summer time so we sat in their breezy patio area. We ordered a few items from the HH menu and regular sushi menu. The fish was fresh. Our service was fantastic! Pro tip: HH is all day Sunday.“
“My friend highly recommended this sushi place to me. I'm glad that I did try here!! The quality far surpasses what we paid for. The server was really welcoming and the atmosphere felt relaxed. I can confidently say it's one of the best neighborhood sushi restaurants in Portland. Also, the happy hour offers GREAT value. We indulged in hamachi rolls, monkey brain, tempura, gyoza, sake, and beer, all for just $43! Hamachi role was my favorite for sure.I will return for their freshly delivered uni on some weekend.“
“Went here for the first time this week and it was AMAZING. We came in during a week day later in the night and we practically had the place to ourselves, our waiter Karra had superb service. The food was delicious to say the least and the menu had a good variety of options to choose from. The atmosphere was also great, very calm, dim, and somewhere you can get lost talking while eating for hours. We ordered veggie ramen, hello kitty (must try), and miso soup!“
“They reopened under parking structure 2 right next to La Casita and Cafe Ole!Their food is pretty solid! Some of the better sushi burritos for sure. Tried the Sumo Kick and it's very tasty. Super fresh ingredients and everything went together very well. Great portion for the price.Totally would be back to try more!“
“My husband and I love this place. We've been here several times and the staff is always nice, the drinks are good, and the food is delicious. We often just get sushi, but the one time we got the blackened cod and it was DELICIOUS. The atmosphere is great, with large old school windows. It's all on the second floor.Vegetarian options: They have a good selection of vegetarian rolls.“
“What a beautiful restaurant. It has a very relaxing vibe. We enjoyed the Sunomoto salad and calimari appetizers with our speciality cocktails. Hubby had the Gyudon Domburi and I had the Chicken Karaage Dom. WE WILL GO BACK. Not big on sushi but looking forward to bringing our kids who are BIG ON SUSHI. I'll try some.“
“Lots to like. Good quality. A separate box for salad from hot chicken and rice is a nice touch. Similarly, the salad is a nice vinaigrette over mixed greens not a creamy mayo dressing over iceberg (which I also love). So that's a nice difference. Small drink w chicken teri6rice and salad for 9.50 is solid.“
“The place is one of the best sushi spots in the area. Huge sake barrels from above really enhanced the atmosphere. Service was amazing compared to other restaurants.Sushi was incredible, fresh, and presented well. The flavor was amazing, and everything complimented each other nicely.Parking: Parking around the area was decent since you had to park on the surrounding streetsKid-friendliness: There are some choices on the menu that kids will enjoy, and the environment is very kid-friendly“
“This place is awesome the prude who left a 2 star is ignorant and biased, she complains like a toddler missing their dino nuggets. The ambience of the restaraunt is very warm and welcoming, both the cooks and the counter workers are great and sweet. I love coming here for teriyaki cravings as it's fairly priced and tastes great for the price.“
“Fujiyama has been my go to sushi bar for a few years now. Tim, a server I always catch there is beyond excellent at his job. My favorite roll is the Fujiyama. Once you try it you won’t be able to stop thinking about it. The chefs are so impressive with their presentation and the food comes out so quick. If I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would. Their consistency is unmatched.“
“(Fair warning: I have never been inside of this restaurant, I've only ordered it through postmates) I am vegan, and I really appreciate that they have their vegan options marked on the menu. I had their cucumber and veggie roll, as well as their vegetable spring rolls, tofu fries, and passion fruit tea. I loved all of it, basically. What I loved most was the price, I got enough sushi for 2 days, 2 sides, a drink, and a free chicken gyoza that I gave to my roommate, and even after delivery fees and tip i paid less than $60, which I am very okay with. I hope I can come inside one day !“
“Adorable little spot. Ordered teriyaki T1 and it is delicious. My mistake I thought it came with 1 scoop Mac and 1 scoop rice but I got 2 huge scoops of rice; will definitely be back to order the macaroni salad next time! There is a huge selection of plants inside that you can purchase as well. Very friendly atmosphere. 10/10“
“So Jarana is actually the kitchen inside of the bar, Lulu. It was a bit confusing when we first walked by and were trying to figure out where it was. We ordered the saltado with steak and the ceviche as well. The steak was soooo tender. The sauce had good umami flavor. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Rice had such a good seasoned flavor. I will think about this dish for a while. The ceviche was also really good. I loved the mango and passion fruit to add sweetness. I didn't expect fried fish and fish chicharrones. So yummy. It might be a bit pricey, but the food is SO good!“
“My Mom + I ate here when our regular spot was closed and we will absolutely be back! We got the calamari, Inside Out roll (without teriyaki sauce), Alaska roll + Shrimp Lover roll. They were super generous with the portions and everyone who worked in the building was beyond friendly!“
“I love this place so much! Just went for the first time and got the bacon breakfast sando and my boyfriend got the spicy katsu pork sando and we both loved them!! I was very surprised by how good the breakfast sandwich was, so much flavor and sauce. Still craving this every morning when I wake up. Can’t wait to come back for lunch.“
“I have eaten ramen from food carts in Shanghai, and the famous Kodawari Ramen in Paris, in New York and Berlin, in Toronto and London and Belmont Kitchen's Dan Dan is one of the best bowls of ramen I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Sweet and salty and spicy, the perfect harmony of sesame, garlic, onion, ginger, turmeric, and shitake all make the most buttery umami broth I've ever had, just the right amount of heat. It's perfect on a damp Portland evening, eaten under the little lot tent, lit by a neon open sign. It's an entire beautiful vibe around this perfectly beautiful dish. The dumplings, and sushi rolls are also delicious, consistently well made, but the next best thing on the menu is the inari. I could not recommend this little unassuming cart enough - the host is also lovely and warm, making every visit feel special as well as nourishing ( and the egg is always perfect. How do they do that??) .“
“Delicious food, compliments to the chef on beautiful rolls. The service was excellent and our dinner was prepared and delivered quickly. Loved the kitty soy crock and the flowers on the ceiling added to the feel of this neat little restaurant.“
“The food was delicious. Except for the crazy amount of bones in my chicken everything else was excellent. The very helpful employees were nice enough to substitute the yellow lettuce for extra rice. And they have a drive through that has great ambiance. When you pull up to the microphone thing it feels like you're walking through the doors of your own home it's so welcoming.“
