“Our dinner last night at the historic General Stanton Inn was absolutely wonderful! We sat in the classic and very charming New England style tavern area over by the beautiful stone fireplace! The staff and the owner are super friendly and welcoming! We were a party of 4 and everyone loved their meal! Two of us ordered the Braised Short Ribs served with mashed potatoes and broccolini. They were fantastic- right up there as the best short ribs I have ever had! This is one of my favorite dishes so I have ordered them at a lot of different restaurants! The two other people we were with ordered the Bolognese and the Stanton Sirloin . Both said their meals were delicious! For dessert, two of us ordered the Chocolate Chip Skillet dessert which was SO GOOD and two people had the Salted Caramel Gelato! As an added bonus before we left, Kevin, the restaurant manager, kindly gave us a tour of the other historic dining rooms on site and a little bit of history on each room and some of the visitors that stayed and dined here, from George Washington to Al Capone.I highly recommend this place! I think the friendly staff, delicious food, and great overall vibe make it a must-visit spot if you have not yet been to the General Stanton Inn!“
“Friendly neighborhood restaurant. Very yummy food! Super worth going and it's like Richards pub but like ... Better in most ways except that it's far. Our waitress was really nice and had the best ink!Parking: Lots of parkingKid-friendliness: Kids menu“
“We had a delightful (off season) lunch at this lovely, spacious restaurant/bar off the main road in Charlestown, RI. We ate at the beautiful wide wooden bar and had a delicious and reasonably priced meal. The service was friendly, local, prompt and attentive. My cajun spiced flounder with horseradish aioli over rice with salsa was delicious, a very generous portion (made two meals) and spiced perfectly rather than the limited bland "cajun" food served elsewhere around here. The Garlic Bread Bites were also delicious. A lovely, quiet, delicious and very affordable meal just a minute off the beaten track. Highly recommend it, especially off season in South County, RI!“
“Great experience. Our server was kind and it was only about a 5-10 minute wait to get a table on an early Sunday afternoon. We started with strawberry lemonades which were super refreshing and not too sweet. The sassafras iced tea was sold out, unfortunately - looking forward to trying that next time.We got the shrimp and nausamp, Sly Fox benedict, and the Indigenous sandwich. The venison in both the sandwich and the sausage in the bene was delicious. The fry bread is a must-try and the grits were the best I've ever had them prepared. Everything was scratch-made and the portions were filling and satisfying. We had the pleasure of speaking with the chef Sherry Pocknett since we were there toward the end of breakfast/lunch service. She was a delight and explained to us how the ingredients are locally and directly sourced. The venison sausage had been made that morning! She is passionate about food and takes great care in what is served. The James Beard Award is very much deserved. This isn't some greasy spoon diner where you get your food super fast, so be prepared with that info and relax. Seeing reviews missing stars because of that is frustrating because some of the dishes have complexity and scratch-made food takes time, and it's worth the wait. Re-watch My Cousin Vinny to understand why real grits won't be on your table the moment you order.A wonderful breakfast and I can't wait to go back to try lunch (and dinner!) Thank you to Sherry and her lovely staff.“
“Absolutely delicious!! My new favorite restaurant. The service was excellent. The bartender was friendly and made delicious cocktails- the pear martini was especially delicious. I had the duck ramen and my husband had the steak. Everything was outstanding. I highly recommend!!“
“I hadn't been here in a few years. I remember the last time the food was just so so, it might have been a different management at that point. So I was pleasantly surprised with the food. I had the Philly cheese steak and it was absolutely delicious.“
“Got the steak and cheese empanada and the Cuban sandwich. Empanada was fried perfectly and was filled to the brim. The sandwich was similarly excellent, only nit-picky thing I have is it came with lettuce tomato and onion, which isn’t traditional but still delicious either “
“I love this place. Pace of play always seems to be reasonable. The conditions are more than adequate for the price. Pretty gettable layout, but some unexpected challenges can bite you (looking at you, #7 and #8). The rock-hard greens in the summer are venomous for those of us who like to play airborne golf. Back "5" holes across the road are insanity. Local knowledge required.NO TEE TIMES. Always open. Ol' reliable.“
“Food was outstanding. Our server was on top of things and we didn't wait long for any part of our meal. I would have given it 5 stars but it was so packed in there and so loud it was hard to hear the people right next to me speaking. No need to cram that many extra tables in. In fact, when a table next to us was leaving, they had trouble getting out from there table and bumped into our friend when getting up. We will give it another try, earlier tho!“
“We have been going to George's for many years. As always, the food and views are wonderful. What set our last visit apart from the rest was our lovely server Alexia. She was funny and attentive to all of our requests. It is so nice to see someone enjoying their job.“
“Slightly higher prices than other breakfast places but you get what you pay for here. Great food, no matter what you like for breakfast, nicely presented with a touch of class like cloth napkins, attentive service and well separated seating.“
“A very pleasant surprise find after a tulip picking outing in Exeter. The food was nuanced and flavourful. We had the shaved veg salad and pork nachos for appetizers. Tasty dressings and great variety of textures and flavors. The Thai style fried rice was beautifully seasoned. You knew from the mound of perfectly crispy fried basil on top that the chef cared about serving delicious food that hits all the right notes. The texture of the beef rib was soft and juicy. The black bean burger was good and the fish and chips were huge and well cooked. The key lime pie and lava cake were not overly sweet and flavorful. Prices were a bit higher than I expected for being outside a city but you could easily pay the same prices for mediocre or worse food in Boston or Providence. Additionally, we loved all the Jamaican music. Great random find!“
“My wife and I went 2 days in a row during our valentine day weekend it was really quiet/slow the first day and food came out so quick everything was perfect. Next day it was really busy. We were seated right away and the food came out just as fast as when the place was dead. This kitchen knows how to move!! Everything was great my wife got the steak and eggs. It was hands down one of the best breakfast steaks we’ve ever tried! If your looking for a cozy comfortable place to get a quick breakfast then stop here! Thank you too the Chef!!!“
