“So, my old man and I decided to treat ourselves to some Italian grub at this place, and let me tell you, it was off the charts! From the moment we stepped through the door, we knew we were in for a treat. The vibe was classy yet cozy, setting the perfect mood for a memorable night.Now, onto the good stuff – the food! Every dish we tried was like a party in our mouths. I'm talking next-level risotto with truffles that had us swooning, and ossobuco so tender it practically melted on the fork. And don't even get me started on the fresh-baked focaccia – we had to resist filling up on it before the mains even arrived!The service was top-notch too. The staff were super friendly and knew their stuff when it came to recommending wine pairings. We ended up trying a couple of their suggestions, and boy, were they spot on!Honestly, it's no surprise this joint has a solid five-star rating. I wouldn't be shocked if they bagged themselves a Michelin star soon – they're that good. So, if you're in the mood for a dining experience that's a cut above the rest, do yourself a favor and hit up this Italian spot. Trust me, you won't regret it.”

“This review is LONG overdue. My sister & I visited Charleston July 2023. The night we flew in from Seattle we had Chasing Sage for dinner - what a delight! From the atmosphere to the food to the incredible staff and chef, it was an amazing experience. My sister and I still randomly bring up our experience at Chasing Sage, and how delicious the food was. Honestly, we'll probably be back to SC and this place is a decent part of the reason why. Cannot express enough how much we enjoyed this place! *edit to add that at the time there was some sort of a seasonal drink on the menu that included peas and my sister thought it was to die for!”

“Upscale dining for dinner - great food and wonderful service. Some folks were dressed up and others more casual - seems to suit anyone. The seafood was delicious. Definitely a must-visit in Charleston for the southern meals and hospitality. (Get reservations in advance, if possible. Times were limited even a few weeks in advance.”

“Acme Lowcountry Kitchen delivered a delightful dining experience with their succulent prime rib, which was an absolute highlight. The waiter's friendly demeanor added a warm touch to our meal, making us feel very welcome. Although my severe nut allergy prevented me from trying any fried items, this limitation didn't detract from my overall enjoyment. It's worth noting that the restaurant is quite popular, so making a reservation in advance is highly recommended. Despite the dietary restriction, the menu had plenty of options to ensure a satisfying meal.”

“High-end steak/seafood restaurant vibe seems contrived. Waiter as much into selling as serving though attentive, informative and professional. Very busy but never felt rushed. Main dishes were very good, sides, part of entre, too salty to eat. Fast tempo pop music playing so more upbeat than quiet relaxing dinner. Large bar. My drink was strong and fairly priced so 5 stars there.”

“The restaurant seems to be showing its age. The gnocchi is still great. The atmosphere, service, and other dishes are in decline. At the price point there are better options in Charleston. They have removed the lime cream puff from the menu, if you are/were a fan of it.”

“We devoured the most epic dinner at Azur Charleston last night to celebrate our anniversary! If you haven't been, get ready for a taste bud explosion! We started with fancy cocktails that made us feel like high rollers, then feasted on an Azur burger with beef braised in burgundy on a croissant bun - it was like a party in our mouths! And don't even get me started on the lamb wrap with Boston lettuce and crème fraiche, it was like a flavor bomb went off! The service was top-notch, especially when we sat at the bar and got entertained by the bartender's fancy mixology tricks. What a night to remember in downtown Charleston!”

“Very cool vibe. Outdoor setting, live music but not overpowering. Drinks were tasty and the food was delicious. The only reason the food got a 4 star not a 5 was we only tried a blackened fish sandwich and a fried chicken sandwich, which were both delicious. But we didn't sample anything more than that. “My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary having a “staycation” in downtown Charleston. Our plan was to put our name in at 167 but the wait was just too long. We stopped at a few bars and looked up local restaurants and landed on Anson, which had a reservation available for 2. We’d never heard of the restaurant but the reviews spoke for themselves.We had such an amazing time. The atmosphere was great. We put down that it was our anniversary on the reservation form and the team at Anson went above and beyond to celebrate - an amazing upstairs table, and a bit of champagne, berries, and whipped cream to wrap up the meal. Peter, our waiter, could’ve sold us on just about anything on the menu. We went with the she crab soup, shrimp de johnes, blackened snapper, and the filet with bone marrow butter. Every bite was incredible. We’ve found our new favorite place in a city full of “the bests.” Thank you Anson!”

“Shiki looks unassuming on the outside, but the food is amazing and the interior is adorable! Since it is such a small space, you need a reservation to guarantee a spot. I was able to make same day reservations though! We got lucky, someone canceled! Even though this is a sushi spot, they had vegetarian options, and they had non-sushi options like the pork katsu. Their veggie sushi roll was SO good. I love when places get creative with veggie rolls and put a variety of veggies in. I also tried the roll that had lemon and jalapeño. I'm not the biggest fan of crab, but this roll was amazing. The lemon adds the perfect amount of zest! Plus, it's fun to try rolls I've never seen before. Even though we were absolutely stuffed, I needed to order the fried ice cream. It was SO GOOD. The fry batter is super light and crispy, and the red bean ice cream was amazing. If you're in Charleston, you should definitely try to get a reservation here!”

Same issue with the rabit pasta being good but much too salty.The dessert - flourless cake was perfect! So glad we ordered it!Really only issue was the saltiness. “When you walk into High Cotton, you immediately feel like you are having a quintessential Charleston experience. It's a very pretty restaurant in the heart of downtown. All staff is very attentive, friendly and accommodating. It's quite popular and was very crowded and noisy on a Saturday night. It does have a fun vibe. There was even a live band.Now, for the food. Unfortunately, the food is underwhelming. We give it 4 stars because the ingredients are obviously high quality and fresh. The lapse comes in the cooking.She crab soup was nice and creamy, but lacked crab flavor. The addition of some salt helped, but it just wasn't spectacular. Broiled oysters were too salty, and the combination of flavors with the Serrano ham and manchego didn't quite work. Halibut was a beautiful piece of fish, but came with a rather small amount of very subtle lemon butter sauce. It depended almost entirely on the smoked trout roe that topped it for flavor. The tile fish special was also very fresh, but the "leek sauce" accompaniment was so paltry, you didn't even notice it. The potatoes on the side were bland. Interestingly, the sautéed spinach that came with it was very tasty. Shrimp and grits was fresh, but also bland. We've had better at the pub across the way. The duck was interesting - smoked. It was tasty, but again, all one predominant flavor. Bread was fresh and warm but did not have much flavor. Desserts sounded great but were unremarkable. Chocolate silk pie was rich, but we've had better. The passion cake, which should have been a riot of flavors with mango, passion fruit and pineapple, was bland. You could barely taste the fruits.Overall, it felt like the chef's main purpose was to serve fresh food very simply. However, the cooking showed no finesse, and generally lacked flavor. Things were oversalted or undersalted, and nothing had a complexity of flavors. For the price point of this restaurant, you can do much better at several other Charleston restaurants. As friendly as the staff was, we will likely not go back, unless the food improves.”

“What a phenomenal spot all around! The wait staff and kitchen staff were all friendly, accommodating and helpful! Each course came out perfectly timed and was all amazing. We opted for the chefs/kitchen barstools, which was surprisingly comfortable seating and a great experience watching and interacting with the chefs. Everything we got was fantastic, thought out, well executed and tasty! I will absolutely be coming back.”
