“Discovered this gem today! Had the Blue Plate fried chicken meal. Breading on the chicken was tasty and the chicken was juicy. For sides we had black eyed pea salad, blt pasta salad, and potato salad. All of them were delicious. Took a piece of the Texas white cake to go. It was excellent too. Really unique concept with the Blue Plate special every day and all the takeaway meals. If we lived nearby, I would be stopping to pick up dinner on a regular basis. Great experience!“
“Have never been here til today!! Wonderful food for an amazing price! Me and my wife each got a kids meal and it was very filling for us (we’re both adults) haha! Their sweet tea and chicken is fabulous! This will be our new spot on the mountain!“
“Southern Star has a larger restaurant in Chattanooga but the little store front on Signal Mountain packs a big punch. Great hot entrees differ daily and there is always a good choice of salads, sandwiches, and desserts. I only wish this wonderful place had a sit-down space.“
“My husband and I went on a Friday night after 9 pm. It wasn't crowded but there were a nice amount of people there. It has a really nice bar area, booths and tables. I ordered the steak salad medium well with a side of sweet potato fries and my husband got a half slab of ribs with Mac and cheese and fries.the menu has appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, sweets, sides, and hot plates. The service was great, attentive and personable. For a Friday night out with friends a great spot. I couldn't stop eating the sweet potato fries. The salad was really good. A small piece of steak though but really tasty. My husband said the ribs were alright but the mac and cheese was not liked by either of us.“
“Our server Paige was AWESOME! Very friendly, attentive, and professional/experienced! We enjoyed the food very much, and had a great end to end dinning experience. The hostess was also very friendly and professional! We love Wooden City and will definitely recommend it and return when we are back to the area!“
“This restaurant has great food, wonderful coattails and friendly service. We have been so disappointed in many restaurants serving “cheap versions” of authentic food but the food here was original and well prepared. My trout was perfectly cooked, my husband’s chicken pharm sandwich was delicious and the cauliflower gratin was to die for! Definitely worth checking out.“
“Food. Service. Atmosphere. All 5 big stars! Traveling and found this gem. So very welcomed by warm staff and very comfortable, chic and comfy vibe. Had one of the best Cobb salads of my life. All the food that came out looked and smelled incredible. I’m obsessed with the bar and the stools - could have hung out for hours. Can’t rave enough about the staff, wow, what a crew! This is how a business should be run. Thank you, Public House!“
“I ordered the quesobarria plate and my wife had the chicken mole. Simply put, I was blown away by the quality of this food. It's obvious the owner takes deep pride in his food and it shows. I love hot sauce and he brought out a house made pineapple and a mango hot sauce. The pineapple hot sauce changed my life. I can't wait to try more items on their menu“
“We are from out of town and wanted to try a good but non expensive bbq place for it being our first time in town. This place is amazing! For 5 people cost us $55! Servers are really nice and has play houses for little kids! 10/10 recommend!Kid-friendliness: It has some play houses for the kids to play on while getting food!“
“Good food, cold beer, and good atmosphere, though lacks in seating. Great option for a beer bar on Signal Mountain with decent bar pizza, good burger and sandwich options, and delicious chicken tenders for the kids so good I tend(er) to steal a few bites when they order. Great place to grab a beer at the bar and meet some new folks. Have a good digital music system so you can load up some tunes and enjoy. Definitely a hole in the wall recommendation you can be confident in. Oh yeah - might have the best Onion rings I've ever tasted! Give'm a shot.“
