We visited from Dallas before a cruise 🛳 and stumbled upon this gem of the island. drinks were tasty, food was cooked superbly, sides were massive family style, and dessert 🍨 to die for. they do enforce dress code but that only adds to the ambience of the experience. let's be frank, be a grown up and dress for the occasion. (added this since there were so many salty reviews about the dress code)”

Though it is very small inside, it didnt feel crowded since they limit the amount of guests allowed inside at one time. The drinks were both made and presented very well! Each drink came with a bar bite sized dish and there was also the option to have the dish a la carte. Also, we didnt have a reservation and had to wait, but it only took 20 minutes for seats to open up.”

My only complaint, which is huge, is about the majority of the clientele. Loud, obnoxious, men wearing backwards caps and shorts in a very elegant atmosphere. When i go to a rather expensive restaurant, I would expect to see better behavior. So many were acting like it was a sports bar.”

“First visit since we had to adopt a gluten free diet. I'd looked at the menu ahead of time and knew what the gluten sensitive options were and ordered confidently. Our waitress was amazing as soon as I said "gluten free." She confirmed that it's a necessity for us, made sure the chips and queso ordered for the table were prepped so they were safe for us, and even brought us a brand new ketchup bottle for our fries. Awesome experience and I can't wait to visit again.”

“Okay, so I was really tempted to gatekeep this little find, but it wouldn't be fair to y'all or the hardworking Sky Bar staff! Seriously, some of the best sushi and cocktails we have had - and we eat out A LOT! The Happy Hour is wonderful because it's a late HH from 5-10. I am a crab ragoon connoisseur, and they have, bar none, THE BEST! Our server, Seth, was spot on. He said he had only been there a few weeks, but you wouldn't know based on his high service level. Seth was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. The manager, Robert, made several stops by our table and the other guests to check on everything. He jumped in and helped servers as needed. We are in Galveston every month or so, and will definitely be will definitely be adding Sky Bar to our restaurant stops. Looking for a later Happy Hour, fabulous food and terrific service? The Old Galveston Club is right next-door to Mama Teresa’s, and we strongly encourage our guests to order from there if they’re hungry. So, many people do. And I gotta tell you: that entire place smells like a heavenly dream. Because I love pizza. And I love Mama Teresa‘s flying pizza. Highly recommended.”

This happened a few times to us, and others, and when we tipped them one of them rolled their eyes and said “that’s it”. “I have visited Murdoch for years visiting in Galveston, Texas. The store is nice. The prices are reasonable however, their store policy before closing time they stop letting customers enter 15 minutes before when the store is not officially close., if a merchant says they are open till 7 PM. The door should be open till 7 PM but they close the doors on customers and turn them away., they only open the doors to allow customers in the store to leave. Bad business Murdoch your customers are what make you and if someone has to enter for whatever reason whether it’s water or to use the lady or men’s room, it should be allowed until 7 PM”

“I have been to Las Lazos numerous times and have always enjoyed the food. Went last evening for my birthday and had excellent service from Carolina. We each had a wine margarita which was very good. We ordered Tilapia Chipotle which had a tasty shrimp sauce and a side of Charro beans. I tried Taquitos Chilango with Charro beans for the first time. Will definitely order this dish again. Finished with freshly made Churros and Sopapillas. Have dined there about once a month because the food is fresh and well-prepared. They have karaoke night every Friday for those who can (or cannot) sing.”

“We found Nifany’s Cafe by accident, and the first thing that caught our eye was the “German Breakfast” option on the menu.

We ordered the German breakfast as well as the English muffin breakfast, and as native Germans, we can honestly say the German breakfast tasted very authentic! The English muffin was delicious as well, and so were the coffee drinks we ordered.

I especially appreciated the board games and toys available for kids. We had my toddler with us, and it was wonderful to have something to keep him entertained while we couple enjoy our breakfast.

The owner was also incredibly nice, welcoming, and friendly, which made the experience even better.

“Ive visited many Cuban restaurants in the past. When I came across this one on social media, I had to give it a try… AND IM GLAD I DID! This restaurant gets additional points for being away from busy Houston and all of its traffic. This small restaurant hit the spot and brought all of the home cooked feels back. We ordered several different dishes and each one of them tasted absolutely amazing. We ordered the arroz con pollo, 5 stars! We ordered the picadillo, 5 stars! We ordered the ropa vieja, 5 stars! Finally we ordered the ropa vieja tacos, 5 stars! We topped our meals off with guava and cream cheese empanadas with a scoop of ice cream along with a cafe cubano, 20 stars! I love this place and will definitely be back. Our waitress, Sienna, was the best. She was attentive and very polite. She went above and beyond to ensure our visit was everything we thought it would be and then some! We will be asking for her when we return.”

“Iced Whiny Baby( half sweet) is the way to go! Staff is always so friendly and I love the atmosphere! Two things I would love (not negative towards the owners at all) : More places to sit to study and a way to order ahead so I could grab it on my way to class :) First world problems for sure--I just wish I could grab one on my way out of time on Mondays because it is so good! Love this place!”

“The service was not good. The girl that waited on us seem like she didn’t want to be there. We ordered our pizza at 9:07 pm and did not receive it till 9.50 pm. There was a family there before us that was still waiting on their ice cream. I ordered and went to the front desk and came back and they still had not had their ice cream.. Finally, some other people came into the back and things seem to get a little better. They finally ask us what kind of pizza we were waiting on like maybe they had lost our order. Then finally after that, we got our pizza and and we went back to our room to eat. And it was actually pretty good.
And as far as the hotel goes, it was not as great as I expected it to be after waiting all these years to stay there. For the money I paid I expected a little more. I have got better satisfaction out of lower end hotel chains. But that’s for another review somewhere else but overall the main reason we stayed was for the Christmas light experience and Iceland, which we enjoyed very much.”

“Don’t walk, RUN to this bar. Amazing drinks and amazing staff. Was blown away this is in a hotel. If you see Sam, ask for a Mexican Swamp Candy, a margarita or Old Cuban. If you’re lucky and both Sam and Victoria are there ask Victoria for a strawberry shortcake Martini (don’t really know the name but that’s what it tasted like). Both of those bartenders are a great find by this hotel.”
