Food came quickly and perfect temperature. Had their $15.95 lunch special ($13.95 if 65). Had the grilled fish and chicken fried steak. Everything was very good. Highly recomend.”

“My family and I came from Fort Worth, TX to visit Galveston. The night before we had a bad experience with Nick’s Seafood. I am so glad the next day we came to Ophelia. Everything here was soooo incredibly delicious. We had fish, shrimp, greens, Mac n cheese, fried okra, fries, yams, and boudin balls. Lastly, The tartar sauce was the best we ever had. In addition, the customer service there was exceptional. The lady advised us of expectations and very easy to talk to. I was very impressed that she was able to be hostess, waitress and cook. I hope this establishment is here for a very long time. I will definitely be coming back and promoting this restaurant to everyone we know.”

“Koops has been on my list of places to try for years and we finally made it! My husband and I shared the 3 meat plate with brisket, chicken, turkey, Mac n cheese, and beans with caramel apple bread pudding for dessert. Everything was phenomenal. Best turkey we’ve ever had and the brisket was so flavorful! I hope to see Koops on the Texas bbq top 10 list soon! Amazing food and friendly service. We will be back!”

Honestly this place was way to classy for me but the wife and I enjoyed every bit of it. I got the steak filled and my wife got the red fish with lump crab meat on it I believe. Also for this upscale experience the prices were very reasonable. The owner himself was in the restaurant bring food out, cleaning tables, etc. One thing that really stood out was we had about 10 people and when the food was brought out the restaurant literally send 10 people out with a dish so all the food was set down at the same exact time. Was super blown away!! I would definitely like to come back when I'm in the area.”

We went to Shearn's for our usual Tuesday night 'Steak & Lobster' and it was so special! We wanted to see clouds rolling in, but the big surprise was the gorgeous sunset! So many colors, it was just beautiful! Only thing better was the food! You should go!”

The ice cream by the scoop is very generous. Everything was delicious! Had a fabulous root beer float, a tremendous banana split and a terrific butterscotch sundae. The store is full of candy including chocolates, Taffy, and much more. The bathroom is also nice and open to the public which is rare in the area”

“I went by, intrigued as they are literally steps from the site of the original Old Galveston Club and Interurban Queen where dear Mr Santos presided so many years. A bit suspicious , how can they be calling themselves OGC… And felt like I had just come home. Fabulous place, with an old familiar feel. We talked to Lucy the owner who was incredibly welcoming, very much cognizant of the weight of the name and incredibly respectful. Lou the bartender after hearing my story of a drink Mr. Santos first recommended and made for me, produced the closest version of it I have had since years ago at the original ( Planter’s Punch). Mr Santos himself would have smiled proudly. Kudos and thank you for keeping the memories alive. We will definitely be back. There are not enough stars in the galaxy to add to the rating :)”

The gentleman helping me was so friendly and really knew his product! I was really impressed with his passion for his craft, and I loved the selection! Their turmeric shot was amazing, and after trying a local one, they unequivocally beat their competition in flavor and effect! I got a few things, like I said, and I felt really refreshed once I'd finished everything over the next few days. We also all got smoothies, and oh man! Those things are phenomenal! It didn't matter which variation or combination of flavors we got, they all were stellar! Take their advice, too! Mine was outstanding, but my son took their advice and wow! He even gave me a few extra drinks!!! I think he may have been the owner, but either way, he's a hell of a good guy that knows his business! Exceptional place, exceptional people, and an exceptional selection of incredible products! This is an absolute Must Stop place if you're in the area for any reason, at any time! The only negative that our group had to say was that the drag performers were a little too push for tips; literally putting their hand in front of you for a tip. This happened a few times to us, and others, and when we tipped them one of them rolled their eyes and said “that’s it”. Other than that, we had a great time and would totally go back to this fun and welcoming place.”

I was skeptical about the food but my hubby told me these were the best places to get food. I ordered the wings, order of 8 for a great low price. These wings were so much better than most major wing restaurants!! If your walking the strand come a few blocks up and visit this little tucked away hole in the wall bar, you will not be disappointed!!!”

I tend to shy away from sauce, but his family recipe of sauce has a really interesting spice that came on very lightly that was so very interesting. Very unique, and it was something that, had not our wonderful server suggested that I try it, I would have missed a real gem. Something very special! Ribs were so excellent. A gentle pull with your lips will pull the meat off the bone. Sausage was such a good, smooth flavor. Cole slaw was neither sour or sweet; more creamy which made it delicious. I thought the prices were quite inexpensive. Which I'm certain it is a great value to the community so folks can have a nice, hearty meal at a great price. Hoping we left a good tip with our server so they can keep up the great work!”

“I have visited Murdoch for years visiting in Galveston, Texas. The store is nice. The prices are reasonable however, their store policy before closing time they stop letting customers enter 15 minutes before when the store is not officially close., if a merchant says they are open till 7 PM. The door should be open till 7 PM but they close the doors on customers and turn them away., they only open the doors to allow customers in the store to leave. Bad business Murdoch your customers are what make you and if someone has to enter for whatever reason whether it’s water or to use the lady or men’s room, it should be allowed until 7 PM”
