“We had a blast here last night at trivia! It was five rounds of 11 questions and I loved how they covered many different topics. I also appreciated using a phone app to play, which definitely helped with hearing questions when the restaurant was packed and quite lively. For food, I got the blackened mahi-mahi and brussels sprouts. The mahi-mahi was scrumptious, tender and smoky from the grill. It was served over yummy cilantro rice and creamy/zesty lemon butter sauce. Needless to say, I wiped my plate clean! The brussels sprouts was also stellar - everything crispy in it from bacon to shallots to the actual brussel sprouts. It was served with bleu cheese, which rounded out the crispy heartiness with just the right amount of funk! We also sampled through a few of the delicious beers on tap from kolsches to sours. Service was prompt and great, too. What a fun time - hope to come back soon!“
“PhoWheels, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. PhoWheels has consistently amazing food, the friendliest staff in the world, and a totally unique fusion concept. I've had the pork belly tacos twice, the bo-khirria banh mi, and I just barely managed to make myself not order the pork belly tacos a third time so that I could try the oxtail pho tacos. Their pho was absolutely delicious - I liked it even more than the bo kho - and there was such a generous amount of oxtail in the tacos that I scooped part of it directly into the pho and just ate both dishes that way. Their meat is always so tender and well-seasoned. Their roti is perfect - so buttery and soft and flaky. It's worth every penny, and I'm always trying to convince people to try it. You won't regret it! Fair warning that the seating is all outdoors, so plan to get the food to go when the weather isn't nice, but it's a really convenient location right by the metro with plenty of parking around, so it's easy to get to, and the food travels well in my opinion. Eventually I'll manage to try everything on the menu, or maybe just order the pork belly tacos 14 more times.“

“Ok. I can be pretty harsh, overly critical, and selfishly opinionated about sushi offerings. But I can only convey that is tastes good and where good sushi can be found. Moreover, what gets lost in tranlation is my eagerness to convince just one or two readers which sushi place is good at the places where I can afford it.I don't think it makes sense to just order the most expensive sushi item on the menu at the most popular sushi places in city areas. We can't all fly in and out of Vegas just for lunch. Yume Sushi seems to bridge that divide. Oh man, just want I thought you cannot find any better quality+value sushi than the 1-2 places around the Tyson's area, Yume was a nice find. The chirashi is out of this world but note somewhat price at ~$50. But the fresh raw fish in chirashi is different than all other sushi places I've had. The award winning rolls I can pass. The chirashi is just the best item on the menu. Most of the other menu items evoke poor attempts at fusion inventions while trying not to alienate true foodies who appreciate proper traditional high quality sushi preparation. The A5 wagyu donburi was way too much rice and way too sweet. So if you decide to go, the chirashi is definitely worth the trip and at least for that special occasion.Parking: The sign to free parking in in the garage behind the restuarant is small and easy to miss.“

“Had been away for a while (I used to to their affiliated restaurant Burger Delite before it closed) but had been craving a good half smoke forever. Ahhh...just like old times!! The smokes are still great and I had my long time comfort food, a fried bologna, egg & cheese on toast and some potato wedges. Imagine my surprise - super tender, super flavorful sweet sour salty Asian grilled seared steak what I think is a cut similar to flank steak.Next the pretzel sticks with queso - these arent normal pretzel sticks - they have an outside look like pretzels and have a crunch but are soft and a touch of sweetness with almost a donut chew to them coated in a fine salt pepper maybe garlic? powder seasoning. I am a bit of a foodie snob and can cook about anything and have no idea how to replicate because its just a pretzel right? But its NOT JUST a pretzel - soo good.Lamb chops - coated in what I think is a cinnamon cardamon crust grilled to perfection. Incredible grilled tender lambchops.This place is every bit a high end restaurant in a rock bar vibe. Trade Roots is curated with thoughtful gifts, clothes, home decor, jewelry, and knick knacks. I walked in recently and immediately saw the perfect gifts for some friends. Everything here is so beautiful and unique. It's not one of those boutiques where everything is just resold from Amazon with a green washed label. The Trade Roots website explains why the fair trade, sustainable mission is important to the store. The food and drinks are delicious here, too! There is some seating inside, as well as tables outside that face the main drag in Westover. Come for a chai and some housewares, leave feeling happy.“

I loved the salmon wrap...and they even asked how we wanted our salmon done (and mine was perfect medium-rare which is my usual test of the kitchen's attention to detail). It's a great wrap with wasabi slaw poised against the strong salmon flavor with other delicious bits thrown in...but lunch also includes a wide choice of excellent sides (mine was the fine side salad and my companion's elote corn was great, too, served on two short corn cobs). Service was friendly, if a tad slow (it was an off-hour lunch) and the tavern is a cozy place to hang out. There's a great central TV bar with some hunky slinging drinks and working hard. The sour cherry pie and ice cream for dessert was also delicious. Cheap, no; but I'd go back for that salmon wrap ASAP.“

We apparently threw the server off when she asked at the end if it was separate checks and we said yes. She had some difficulty with it 1/2 hr later she finally got the bills right. Atmosphere: if you like the bar type scene a great place to go. Well as the weather gets better The Hood will be out and about again. They do take reservations; so something to consider if you are planning a visit. We ordered a couple Dunkel beers, giant stuffed pretzel with jalapeños, tater tots, fries, and sausages for the table. One of my friends also ordered a salad, which she said was good. We enjoyed all the food and beer. We also played a couple board games, which they have several stacks of near the kitchen. I first went there a few years ago and found it to be my go to place and try to get in there once a week. They do so many things and do them right. They seem to employ a lot of students and they have a nice enthusiasm and demeanor to them, always upbeat. Their wine events they frequently have are always a good time to sample a wine and get educated on it. They have another location which has a lot of the same good foods, but is much smaller, this is the one I prefer as the selections are much larger.
