They were also very accommodating in light of last minute menu changes due to several unexpected guests cancellations. The truck arrived at our house exactly on time and the staff were friendly, smiling and very receptive to all our guests’ requests and questions. The food was excellent. We had the Neon Taco truck at our house and we highly recommend this truck and the whole experience, you will not regret it. Our guests were thrilled with this novel approach and commented on how no clean up was required !!!”

“It was a perfect breakfast for the three of us before we dropped out daughter off at the airport. I had my traditional two eggs over easy with toast sausage and bacon. The two others had some wonderful eggs-benny. My eggs were perfect, the toast was perfect, the bacon was crispy, and the sausages were spicy and succulent, making for a delicious meal. Arlene was wonderful throughout the whole meal so thanks to her especially!”

“We had been looking to replace our ‘go-to’ East Indian option, after our longstanding restaurant sold their business (menu change sadly no longer lived up to expectation.) After venturing to try a few new restaurants, we continued to be met with disappointment. It was then recommended by my physio therapist to try Masala Art. And glad we made the trek on a cold winter Sunday night to support small family owned business. We were met with a gracious welcome. Atmosphere was simple, yet cozy. The service was top notch and very attentive. The samosas were fresh and flavourful, sauces were fresh and the Naan was absolutely classic and hot sizzling of the chef’s station. The veg korma vegetables tasted fresh and leftovers the next day, the flavours melded together even better! The staff and chef were inquisitive to the flavour satisfaction amidst our dining, we felt they picked a suitable spice level for our tolerance and were intuitively precise. I hope to see this business thrive as it is well deserved. I recommend even quantity items of samosa as I have a hard time arm wrestling over the 3rd Samosa, lol.”

Food was excellent - our server Rylie made it even better. Even thought the place was packed, Rylie checked in on us, recommended the perfect dish for my food preferences - and when I couldn’t find anything available on the dessert menu, Rylie was able to get us a sneak-preview of their new dessert coming out.

“Just when you think they can't raise their game any higher Hy's manages to find a way. We attended the Calgary locations 10th Anniversary Celebration on Sept 26th and it was spectacular. The event was flawlessly organized and orchestrated by the Hy's team, the food was next level even by Hy's standards and the service exceeded anything we have experienced anywhere in North America even in the finest hotels. Bryant Olender added a classic background with piano and vocal stylings that perfectly suited the atmosphere. It was certainly the best evening we have at Hy's over the last decade, and I don't think I'm overstating it to say it was a "Once in a Lifetime" experience. A huge thankyou to Barb and the entire Hy's team!”

Watch out for their announcement/s at Instagram and book at TOCK. I got mine in November 2021 for February 2022 dinner. Chef Darren shared that in the latest offering, 36,000 people went in and it sold out in 30 seconds. You will receive an email for dining reservations and included are instructions how to get to Eight. Located at ALT hotel at East Village in Calgary, Alberta. Complimentary underground parking. Be early, reception will send you at NUPO bar before you’ll be invited over to the secret door leading to your seat. 2. FOOD There are no words to describe the gastronomical experience this 15-course dinner (with snacks) offered. All the superlatives can be used. Fall in love with the plethora of Canadian ingredients married into the greatness Chef Darren’s mind. Well intentioned sourcing of fresh local, farm owned ingredients in your plate. Each made great with time whether it’s the reclaimed dairy cow’s beef, cured bacon goodness — it’s clear! (yum) and rich chicken broth. From east to west ingredients, indulge in what each coast brings through texture, colour and scents. It’s a win after win, one plate, one bowl at a time. 3. PAIRINGS Truly recommended to take it! As serendipity has it, it was Season 8 and Eight’s 2nd anniversary. The last pairing of Espresso, Licor 43 was replaced by a Ruinart Blanc de Blanc to celebrate with Chef Darren and his staff. Lucky! 4. AMBIENCE Low light, one bulb overhead per person highlights the food in front of you. Across is a marbled island where the action happens. It’s a cozy distance to chat with other guests to your side and still well-spaced to enjoy your spot (and your date!) Leather bar seats, metal backing art at the corner adds to the mystery feel of the eluded box. 5. STORY TELLING This is a vital part of the dining experience. Chef Darren walks through the history of ingredients and how he came up with the course. Very interesting, heartwarming and funny stories to hear. 6. SYMPHONY The smooth flow of chef, assistants and server movements : cooking, plating, serving timing, wine glass replacement and bread offering is a flawless operations at an optimum (small) space. It is a feat. 7. CERAMICS The handmade, locally made plate counts. The 24 Karat lined cup and the stacked bowl of snacks counts. It’s beautiful. Hello Quinspired Ceramics ✨ 8. INVESTMENT Worth every Canadian dollar. $245pp dinner + $145pp pairing (optional) + 20% gratuity + taxes Ending note: There is a no photo policy and it suits your dinner experience as you’re fully immersed into the story telling and presentation. You are given a small folder, tucked in is the menu + pairing details. Inside the folder is poignant essay of Chef Darren’s thoughts how the Canadian Reflection Menu came about. Take it as poetry! A map of Canada is inserted and handwritten in each province were ingredients used that night. Overall, this was a great experience. Calgary is lucky to have Eight. Well done! Bravo Chef Darren! The dumplings were a standout—crispy, golden, and topped with a flavorful sauce that complemented them perfectly. They were the perfect side dish to pair with the main bowl.
I also loved the refreshing Dole orange juice that rounded out the meal. Everything was well-presented and served quickly. Definitely a place I’d recommend for a delicious and satisfying meal.

Every step of the way the team at The Lake House catered to what our wants were and offered great advice and options to make sure we landed on the right decision. When spending so much money on everything to do with a wedding it can add up and you want to make sure the value is there and that you’re not over spending on one thing vs. another. They made sure that as costs added up for us elsewhere we really saw the value while still getting an elite, exceptional, beyond compare venue that just took care of nearly everything. My wife and I live busy lives and had a baby shortly after our wedding and have repeatedly told each other since the wedding we truly owe it to the restaurant to make sure we sit down, take time and praise how truly happy we were with our experience in a review so that everyone knows and we can hopefully give them some extra business and help others have as spectacular an experience as us. “I had dinner tonight at The Himalayan (17 Ave SW). It was my first time here, and only my second Nepalese restaurant I’ve been to. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable and very kind. The restaurant is clean, and intimate. Parking isn’t ideal, but that’s not their fault! I started with the pork momos as an appetizer. They were excellent, but quite expensive ($16 for six regular-sized dumplings). The flavour was great, and they tasted very fresh. For my main, I had Chicken Dal Bhatt, which came with three small dishes of meat and curry and lentils, along with rice, naan and some side dishes. Each of the individual dishes had incredible flavour. They were also hot and fresh, as were the momos. The meal was served on a metal platter, and the small bowls were also metal. It was beautifully presented. As soon as I finished my main meal, the waiter offered me a chai and mango pudding (included in the meal). The chai was aromatic and spicy and earthy and amazing! The mango pudding was icy cold (also in a metal dish), and hit the spot at the end of the meal. For my appetizer and main meal, I opted for mild / zero spice. Everything was so flavourful I don’t regret this decision. However next time, I’ll live a little and try the medium heat. Overall, this was a 10/10 for me and I’m really glad I had the chance to try out this restaurant!!”

“Busy Saturday night, sat at the bar and had service right away. The server got our order and helped us pick out a nice bottle of red wine. Atmosphere was nice and food came out in no time.
Double baked potato with 10 oz prime rib - delic 8/10, plus baked beans and fried onions. Prime rib was an ok cut and paired well with the au jus.
8 oz Filet, beets and mash potatoes. -10/10.
Had no room for dessert. Our server followed up enough and it was a pleasant evening.”

“It was a perfect breakfast for the three of us before we dropped out daughter off at the airport. I had my traditional two eggs over easy with toast sausage and bacon. The two others had some wonderful eggs-benny. My eggs were perfect, the toast was perfect, the bacon was crispy, and the sausages were spicy and succulent, making for a delicious meal. Arlene was wonderful throughout the whole meal so thanks to her especially!”

“Went there with 3 friends at 12 noon on a Sunday with no reservations. Place was packed but they said about a 15-20 minute wait. They were pretty true to their word. Waitress was quick to approach us (sorry I didn't get her name). Ordered our food and did not wait long at all for our food to be ready. Food was phenomenal! Each of us ordered different things and there was not one complaint. Highly recommend.”

“I was in a bit of a bind the other day and the owner went above and beyond for a stranger, helping me out and turning my day around. Heart-lead businesses are rare, and the food never disappoints!! The staff are incredible people who actually care about their customers. I will recommend them to everyone.”

“Great food with excellent customer service! The engironment feels welcoming when coming in and when it was cold outside, the servers really welcomed us especially the server Angelica who made us feel warm after coming from the winter weather. Would definately recommend this place for a cold night out.”
