“I love the idea but I think they can do better. Good selection of toppings but the problem is the rice. Rice inside Inari (the pocket) was pretty dry and cold. If you have inari at a sushi restaurant before you know it should be moist, a bit sweet and sour like the rice itself should be tasty. But don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed those “pockets” and am willing to come back for more. Their fish cake udon was not worth it tho imo. Service was good, very friendly. There was only 1 guy doing everything and running back and forth, you could tell he was trying his best.“

“Always wanted to try Teppanyaki! First date night in soooo long and WOW the atmosphere, staff and food was amazing! Best night we have had in such a long time. 100% be back it’s definitely our favourite place to go to now! “I really liked this sushi place, the vibe is on, upon walking in you immediately feel calm.The restaurant is cozy, there are many nice touches such as elegant plating, simple presentation and delicate service.I loved how when our server showed up they asked if we had been there before, and welcomed us warmly. More points for when we ordered and our waiter came by with the soy sauce and poured it into our dishes for us. (I’ve only had this at a few upscale places not in Calgary so I always notice it. It’s a nice touch)The only comment on the service that was negative was our server wasn’t super knowledgeable about when the fish comes in from Japan, or what hamachi is, they had to Google it infront of me to be sure. Which while I totally appreciate the effort, i just felt rubbed me the wrong way. That’s why I thought I’d put it here and let you decide if I was just being a grump.Aside from that barely noticeable service offence, everything was amazing.The fish was phenomenal, with generous portions. I personally don’t like sushi rolls covered in sauce that hide the elegance of flavour knitted through the layers of intricately paired sashimi, vegetables and rice.These are not those, these rolls are not buried in sauce and unnecessary toppings.So the rolls were perfect for me, I got to experience the food and flavour.I recommend the spicy salmon roll, and the Satsuki roll.I also highly recommend the OTORO it was quite possibly the best single piece of sashimi I’ve ever had.“

“The Ryuko SE branch is one of my favorite restaurants. But it was far away, so I couldn't go often. So it was nice to have a West branch near my house. So I made a reservation today and went there. But the food was a little different from what I knew. The sushi in the premium sushi set was smaller than the East branch (especially salmon) and it was disappointing that there were no sesame seeds in the chicken katsu sauce. Next time, I'll visit the East branch again“

“Finally had a dinner at this place. Very nice inside and the staff were my kind of staff. Fun, friendly and chatty.We tried a variety of the rolls and the deep fried spicy tempura. Absolutely incredible.Prices are reasonable and the drinks were delicious. I will return! I think they even have happy hour and some specials but need to double check.“

“Sushi Hiro has been a destination food experience for me for decades even though I live in Calgary and work downtown. There are newer places sure but Hiro himself still prepares sushi himself while his wife handles the front. Amazing sushi, as authentic as it gets. Had a great lunch today.“

“Where is the option for 70 billion stars?My husband and I had the most incredible dining experience EVER. “Woah! Absolutely delicious & fresh food! Ordered Hojicha Pancake & Heaven Crab. Hojicha Pancake tasted of Hojicha tea. Very interesting toppings like Boba, Hojicha tea, extremely fresh fruit of white strawberries, blueberries &green grapes, syrup & cream. Heaven Crab was out of this world! Made up of soft shell Crab Tempura, Scrambled Eggs, sitting on a sourdough bread with very fresh salad mix topping. Comes with hollandaise sauce & ponzu sauce. Will order again!“

“Definitely a fun place to go for lunch or dinner.I've been to Japan several times and this was a perfect reflection of what you can expect in a conveyor belt sushi restaurant there. The food comes out fast the portions are general but more importantly the staff is great and the food is amazing. There is free parking just to let you know so pay attention to this review so you don't have to pay for barking it's actually in the underground just exactly beside the main entrance.“

“I've only ever been in here once, but boy was that a great experience! The atmosphere is great and so is the food! I do order here to get it delivered to my place and even if it's a delivery, the food still tastes great. The Takoyaki I ordered wasn't soggy like other places because they separated the sauce so the Takoyaki itself was still 'firm' I also ordered their Tempura and it's the best Tempura I've ever had. It was still crispy when I got it and not soggy/wet. 10/10 is what I'd rate this place. Very good!“

“I've been going to the Ranchlands fusion sushi for years, often bringing my family or friends to join me.The food is always delicious, and the variety means there's something for everyone! The restaurant is clean, and very cozy. But what makes Ranchlands stand out is the staff. Courteous, and professional. The folks who work at this Fusion Sushi are what make the experience such a pleasant one. We always have an excellent time, whenever we go!I can't recommend this location enough. “I'm not sure when this place changed hands or how long ago that was, but Ifor 10+ years I've enjoyed the sushi place here in the past (with the same name the entire time I believe); it was always a good option when I didn't know what I wanted. I didn't eat here for a few years (due to recent events and how that impacted office work), and recently started visiting again. The menu's changed a bit and the staff seem to be different people which is why I suspect it may have changed owners in recent years?I've only had the Omakase since I noticed the possible ownership change and it is seriously tasty - I try to pick a container with sweet shrimp nigiri and aburi salmon. The food here is excellent quality, especially for a grab and go sushi place! Highly recommended, and the service is always friendly. Hands down the best express sushi place I've tried downtown, and rivals some of the order in places (and I've been to many of them in Calgary).“

“This is my new favourite spot! It's a shame I've lived in the neighborhood for a few years and only had dinner here last night, years of missing out. We had the miso, yam tempura (which was incredible) assorted sashimi, the dynamite combo and a few pieces of the butterfish and sockeye salmon. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The staff were awesome, it was busy but they all did a great job keeping up with everyone.Will definitely be coming back here from now on!“

“The food is prepared beautifully. The serving staff are lovely. However the manager seems to do alot of micro-managing making everyone seem nervous. Tried to clear our plates before we were done. And when I asked to have my few remaining pieces of sashimi wrapped in plastic wrap to go, the manager made a fuss, thinking I wanted to wrap the whole restaurant bowl to go. Very confusing.“

“Kabuku definitely has a solid market share of the north-end of downtown sushi. A bit more expensive than some in the area, they do offer a more varied menu including the spicy rock prawns. Sashimi was fresh, gyoza hot, and the rolls were fairly tasty and well constructed. My only real critique was the $4 green tea. Kabuku also advertizes as supporting local as much as they can, and a portion of their liquor sales are donated to the children's hospital. All in all, I'd definitely eat again but maybe after payday or for a business lunch.“
