“Went here for the first time in almost 20 years and to my pleasant surprise it is almost unchanged. It's a perfect laid back little hole in the wall. The menu is limited but the achiote seasoned roast chicken the accompanying sides are pitch perfect. The only take cash but there is an ATM next door.“

“Been wanting to try Cocina Chiwas for some time, and finally made it there for our anniversary dinner. Having been to Tacos Chiwas and Espiritu, we knew that the meal and cocktails would be great and our expectations were exceeded. The ambiance was perfect, seasonal cocktails were superb and our fantastic server helped us find the perfect mix of menu must haves (if you like oysters- try both ways!) and specials. Service from all staff members was excellent. We will definitely be back.“

“🚨 Bomb Mexican Food Spot 🚨

Stopped in for a breakfast burrito the other day and added this to my mind map of bomb spots because it was too good.

The Amado’s breakfast burrito is eggs, potatoes, bacon and cheese and is the perfect breakfast blend. Decent size burrito and the salsas were both super tasty.

They have a drive through but I went inside and was surprised at the size of the interior. The vibe was chill and next time I will make sure to take some dollars to play the little claw machine in there. 😉

I will definitely stop by again for another breakfast burrito and to try some of their other dishes as well.

“Went there (party of two) last night for a meal of appetizers and drinks. We ordered the shrimp cocktail hoping for a chunky ceviche-type experience. The flavors were good and just the perfect kick. Our preference is a little less tomato juice and a little more of the chunky ingredients (reason for 4 on food). We also ordered the Queso Fundido. Very good flavors. Love the chorizo and the homemade corn tortillas.

Cadillac marg in a small glass...$19 (yikes!). Good but maybe not worth that price.

Service was excellent.

Downsides on this restaurant in general is how loud it is inside (reason for 3 of atmosphere) and how challenging to park(nothing they can do about parking).

Whoever owns this corner has put wayyyy too many busy restaurants in place for the amount of parking. So, if you want to come here arrive early as the restaurant is popular and they do not take reservations.

“Originally we had a party of 10 and we were supposed to eat at another Mexican restaurant across the street, but that restaurant could not accommodate our large party. So I called Cervantes and spoke with Grace and she told us they could accommodate our large party and would take care of us. Grace had our table ready for our large party and we had EXCELLENT service from Grace throughout the night. Mariachis music started at 7pm and dinner was lovely. We were celebrating my father's birthday and Grace made sure it would be special. She had the Mariachis sing Happy bday in Spanish and English and she bought out candles for our cake along with plates and utensils.“

I was going to combine my daily walk with visiting the sporting good store in Chandler; and just didn't want to do the full 10 mile walk in the 110 degrees. So, I drove from my hotel and parked at the El Pollo Loco to shorten it to 6 miles.

“I love my local Filiberto’s. Sometimes it is super delicious and cooked perfectly by this wonderful man that knows exactly how to cook perfect carne asada!! Sometimes it is almost inedible because the carne asada is way overcooked and chewy like a rubber band! Sometimes it is just super oily. It really is kinda like carne/ burrito roulette! But—one thing remains consistently great—the fact that it is always there—24-7!! I really love Filiberto’s, I just wish all of the cooks were as good as the magic burrito man. That wonderful cool knows how to cook carne asada perfectly—with a little char, a lot of flavor, and super tender texture! Also the ratio of oil and other ingredients do matter and the magical burrito man always puts the perfect amount of each ingredient! I always hope it will be that magical carne asada burrito master is working so I can taste the dreamy AZ burrito that I love at at least one more time in my life!
