“Love the staff, drinks, and food here! The cafe has a chill vibe, though it's not quiet. However, they have a sweet covered patio in the back which is quiet, and you can enjoy your meal/drinks in the company of all the little birds. One of my favourite spots for sure.“
“I have been here twice and can't wiat to go back. The first time was for supper and the second for brunch. For brunch I had the Smoked Tofu Muffaletta Sandwich (smoked tofu on Wildfire sourdough, olive tapenade, vegan dijon aioli, sauerkraut, pickled onions, greens, served with soup or salad. The soup was creamy squash. It was very good. The dinner, I ordered separate plates. Marinated eggplant (so good), turnip and roasted squash. Updated from previous review on 2024-04-14“
“Busy location but staff are always friendly and accommodating, gluten free food options are delicious, they’re not weird about dairy alternatives, and the vibe is great!Dietary restrictions: Gluten and dairy free options are clearly marked and also delicious“
“Great food & drinks!! Staff are incredibly kind and friendly. Doug the owner is the BEST! He always goes above and beyond for his customers and truly cares. They always remember your name which I find so sweet! You can tell Doug truly loves and cares about his community. :)“
“Literal “Hidden Gem”. Tucked away in a deceptive location within the converted motel that is the Portage West Apartments, this is my new favourite cafe in Greater Victoria. Phenomenal baked goods made in-house (I tried the Iluka bun - a modified sweet roll with macadamia and coconut - mmmm), superb coffee, and a bright tropical atmosphere. I’m picky about my pastries/baked goods, and in-house baking is a very good sign, which was definitely borne out by my experience here. Plus the bathroom was amazing. I totally support a place with a bathroom this nice. ?15/10 recommended!“
“Always such a treat coming in and being greeted by the most delightful staff and owner. Baked goods are amazing, quality food and coffee, great vibes and today I left with a delicious birthday cake. Thank you for the incredible vegan goodies!“
“Pros: Awesome food that includes doughnuts to actually breakfast and sandwiches, but still a cafe format. Patio and location are both on point. Friendly, attentive staff. Chairs with backsCons: A bit pricey. Seating is better than 90% of the cafes in the downtown but it’s not a spot to post up, if you feel my meaning.Overall: I’m surveying all the cafes in the downtown and this is my favorite spot so far. Come for the food, stay for the atmosphere on the patio. Would absolutely recommend.“
“This is my first time to have the “high tea” experience. I went with my beau today. I tell you the ambience is very cozy. We ordered the Not-So-Wee-Tea (around $50-60) and we both were pleasantly full. Not to mention everything was delicious and savory. We got orientated to start eating from the bottom tier and work our way up (to the tasty desserts)! The tea biscuit chicken sandwich could use some black pepper (but I guess it’s prepped intentionally bland) so customers can flavor it to their liking. Overall, I definitely would want to come back again, and bring our friends and families with us. The Mad Hatter tea is a must-try! I love it.“
“If you are looking for a delightful latte experience, you must visit the warm, inviting wood deck of Macciato Caffe & Paninoteca. I was able to cozy up my scooter right next to my table and sip and savour their delicious Lavender Latte while watching the florist from “Flowers on Top” select gorgeous peonies from their spring flower selection across the street. Gorgeous spot, simply delightful!“
“This deli has many Mediterranean items for sale which takes up most of the store. There’s a few tables in the middle of the store for people who want to sit and eat. And there is a big kitchen with display counters that are refrigerated for all the prepared foods that are made here. My favourites are spanakopita, and a Greek dessert bougatsa. Phyllo pastry wrapped around an inner filling of luscious not too sweet custard. I’ve never tried it, but I hear good things about their pizza. ? in fact, I think I go back today and try it.They also have lots of staff in the kitchen to serve you. Pictures next time.“
“Always welcoming, freindly, witty inclusive humor, laughter and great food. Accessable indoor seating as well as covered outdoor seating.I go often as able to support local good people. Feels like home.Vegetarian options: Specific vegetarian choices also can make some meat options vegetarian.Kid-friendliness: Customers of all ages welcomed. Toys and coloring available. I have also seen them put children's shows on the wall mounted televisionWheelchair accessibility: Indoor eating bathrooms accessable, one step to outside seating.“
“If you don't already know this amazing foodery, you gotta go! If you love pies, this is your place! Best pastry ever! And I know pastry!A unique and innovative approach to food. Tastes and ingredients are often in unusual combinations, but they are soooo good! Today was a spicy chorizo sausage pie. Oh my.There are also frozen take home meals when you don't know what's for dinner. We love the vegetarian lasagna and their shepherds pie.The staff are fun and personable and enjoy a bit of banter too.Go there! You will not be disappointed.Parking: There are parking spots available right out front.“
“Up with if not the single best latte you can get in town. An incredibly peaceful place that’s sometimes too quiet for boisterous chatter, but a great place to work or journal. A big selling point for me is that they carry Jagasilk teas and know how to prepare them.“
“The atmosphere was lovely! I spend my free time visiting cafes in Victoria, and by far Hey Happy is my favourite. I strongly recommend visiting! I got the coconut milk iced latte and the flavours were perfectly balanced making it my new go to drink.“
“Nice Surprise: the coffee was perfect ( good flavour but excessively thick), their muffin was fresh and delicious and the couple working there were very pleasant. They offered me butter for the muffin and it was warmed up. Perfect coffee spot.Too bad I walked past it many times and never tried their stuff. Muffins, scones, Nanaimo bars, cookies, bagels, sandwiches, etc all looked fresh and tasty.“
“Gigi's is a rad local cafe with freshly made baked goods (I get a muffin every time) and delightful coffee. They support the local arts by showcasing local artist's physical talent (trinkets, mugs, paintings) and also through hosting open mics and poetry/writers nights. They have a live musician play most Sundays for a few hours and the owner, Gino, sings some sweet Italian tunes at the open mics. So... yeah Gigi's has been a glorious addition to the Quadra Village, buy stuff there“
“Stumbled across this very cute coffee shop down some stairs and it was amazing! George was a super friendly owner and very passionate about the coffee and it has several different specialty beans to try. The atmosphere was unique and very calming and I also loved that there were unique pastries like a matcha pineapple bun. It’s pretty newly opened so definitely worth a visit!“
“Although I did like the coffee and the cinnamon bun I had I don’t appreciate Google forcing me every day all day long to give this company a review. I have been to this café for many years. I’ve used their beans, but I don’t know why Google has to force me all day long to do the review I think Google is trying to reward me for reviewing something I’m very serious with all my reviews, honest reviews not AI generated“
“Delicious decaf cappuccino. Space is open and inviting. Good spot for a first date or catch up with a friend. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the beans.Only thing a miss was the price. $5.50 for a cappuccino is steep. Beans range from $20-25.“
“This is as close, clean, and healthy a sandwich as it gets to what your grandma will prepare for you. The owner hand picks the meats (chicken, turkey, ham) all fresh, and gets the best bread. Oven toasted, nothing comes close.... I went there twice, and will keep going “
“One of the few places that's open early so I can grab some breakfast & a latte on my way to work. I love the egg bites. Also one of the few places that offer their matcha latte with or without sweetener (and when you do get it sweetened it's the perfect amount of honey & not too sweet).Baked goods are best with a coffee to balance out the sugary goodness - great spot for a break.Have also picked up whole roasted beans for home use in my French press & they're fantastic!“
“Came here for a second time to get “the Canadian” breakfast sandwich and a “chicken pesto” panini. Then a vanilla late and the handsome man behind the counter recommended me the cortado, which was absolutely awesome. All around a great place, one of the best cafes in Victoria.“
“Super cute family business with friendly service. Although the coffee isn't the best, the breakfast bagels for around 7 CAD are amazing and the homemade banana bread aswell. Everything is very decently priced and tastes amazing. Perfect place for an affordable and quick breakfast! Not the most striking place frome the outside, but definitely more than worth the price!!!“
“We were visiting Victoria and by chance met Fadi- one of the owners who told us about his family’s cafe. We LOVE Lebanese food so decided to check it out for lunch. We had chicken shawarma donairs and tabouleh and loved it. But most of all his family is so kind and warm and the cafe is super cute! Thank you!“
“Nothing but 5 star. Lots of selection of foods pastries loaf slices cakes sandwiches and a selection of coffees and teas. Wonderful seating area and some seating outside on the main Street. Also a shop to purchase gift baskets and loose leaf teas. All in all a great addition to your day. Include it in your visit..“
“I have come to Flourish a few times now, and every time I have a pleasant experience! The staff are always friendly and take the time to make you feel welcome. Every drink I have gotten so far I have enjoyed, I really like the barley tea, rose latte and Japanese purple latte.Would recommend this shop if you're interested in trying a new type of hot drink!“
“I had high hopes for getting my breakfast sandwich fix at Rise and Grind Coffee after researching different breakfast spots in downtown Victoria and reading their reviews. Rise and Grind Coffee definitely hit the spot! I ordered the BLAST and it was very satisfying! The bacon was crispy, the avocado was fresh and creamy, it was nice and saucy without the bread getting soggy, and I felt full from the sandwich. I replaced the multi-grain bread with sourdough bread. The sourdough bread was not what I was expecting as it was soft. I ordered my sandwich "to go", and they make it easy to eat on the go, which I really appreciate. It was wrapped in an aluminum foil pouch and paper, which made it easy to consume the sandwich without any mess on the go. I will definitely be back!“
“What a gem ? Great coffee, chill atmosphere, yummy baked goods. What else do you need in life? The kind of place that brings you smile, forces you to slow down and appreciate the small wonders of life. Thanks folks for being a hidden gem. Take the time to look for it next time your in the Cook Street village neighborhood.“
“I was just there yesterday with my mom and their new carrot cake loaf with generous cream cheese icing was delightful and the service is always great too!!Vegetarian options: I had a veggie panini and it was alright. Not amazing but just right!Wheelchair accessibility: The bathroom was larger and the entrance was level. The door was not automatic and it was heavy but they would come running to help you open it!!“
“I had a delightful experience at de'lish, a cozy café near the ocean at Oak Bay. The charming atmosphere, delicious pastries, and a menu featuring healthy options made it a perfect spot. The table with a fireplace added warmth and a romantic touch to the overall ambiance.“
“Nice little spot in West Bay. They have limited seating inside and a nice little patio outside. No milk products here, so if you are looking for a latte, it's almond, oat, or soy. The coffee is great, and they have some interesting brews, including Chaga and Lion's Mane. If you are in the area or walking on the Songhees Walkway it's a good spot to stop.“
“Can't elaborate on service because we skipped the dishes to our hotel room after a day surgery at RJH. The food we ordered was packaged well, and absolutely delicious. Next opportunity we have we will attempt to dine in, but if we can't this will definitely be on our list of order again. Had the quesadilla, a turkey bacon sandwich, a couple iced coffees (only critique would be no request option for sugar on the iced coffee menu but we had some in the room so not a huge deal) and we also got the loaded big salad. It was all very fresh and super tasty.“
“Koffi serves some of the best soup and delicious bread that I’ve ever eaten. And I should know, because I had some at lunch today. And I had it gratis..because the lovely staff could see how frustrated I was that my new debit card would not work. Now what businesses give out free soup…not many! So thanks Koffi!!“
“This cafe is close to my job site. They have drip coffee quick and ready. Phil and Sebastian beans (I think) which is great! Bright and calming atmosphere, bigger than most cafes which really improves wheelchair accessibility.Wheelchair accessibility: no stairs, large and spacious. bathroom is a good size :)“
“Just wanted to say how amazing this place is, especially after reading the last bad review (which, yeah, totally wild and inaccurate).I love hide and seek, and always look forward to stopping by when I'm cycling in town. In fact, I specifically go to oak bay for this joint. It's got:Properly excellent coffee, consistently. (I've got high standards yall)Great homemade bites with a real mom and pop feelNice location, friendly clientsIt's firmly on my very short list of best coffee in Victoria.Hope your day is made!“
“Pilgrim Coffee House truly deserves a glowing 5-star review! The experience was exceptional from start to finish. The aroma of fresh beans greeted me upon entering, setting the tone for what turned out to be a delightful visit. The talented barista crafted a cup of coffee that was nothing short of perfection, showcasing their expertise and dedication to their craft. The cozy ambience of the cafe provided the perfect backdrop for enjoying my coffee and indulging in the delicious pastries they offer. The attention to detail in the decor and layout created a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home.Adding to the positive experience was the server who was not only attentive and efficient but also incredibly kind and friendly. Their genuine warmth contributed to making my time at Pilgrim Coffee House even more enjoyable. All in all, I can't recommend Pilgrim Coffee House enough. From the fresh beans to the talented barista, charming ambience, delectable pastries, and the kind server, every aspect of my visit was top-notch. It's a place where I'll happily return for a wonderful coffee experience again and again.“
“Always a lovely atmosphere and great service! The coffee is wonderful (even the drip coffee) and everything I’ve ever tried on the menu- from sandwiches to bowls- has always been absolutely delicious. They also have really cute outdoor seating which is lovely on a sunny day. Highly recommend making this coffee shop a regular stop!“
“I go here at least once a week and the staff are always so friendly, hard working, and thoughtful. Additionally, this is one of the few truly "cosy" coffee shops in Victoria; I feel so many places lean into the minimal aesthetic but not QVs! It's a very relaxing space to sit in and drink tea.“
“You'll find the best matcha and loose leaf tea in town here. The shop itself is made from beautiful old wood and smells like roasting tea. Their kombucha is also great, not very sweet or very salty, especially if you like the tea they use to flavour it.“
“This little cafe is located near Chinatown. It is a cute little cafe with a friendly barista name sam. He was really helpful and let me try the coffee, Hathaway, since I was interested in buying a bag of coffee. He let me try it as an espresso and then made me a latte! Of course I got the bag of coffee cause it went well with the latte! Thanks again Sam!“
“So lucky to have this amazing little café in our community. The food is always incredible and everything is sourced locally if possible. Shannon takes genuine pride in what she puts in your cup or on your plate, and the conversation is always great. The only down side is it encourages me not to cook breakfast at home because you just can’t knock off those Broken Eggers!Vegetarian options: Great Vegetarian breakfast options.“
“Had a deliciously smooth coffee today that is honey fermented! I can’t drink black coffee, but this coffee is one I can imagine drinking black! Ader Reyonosso (sp?) from Ethiopia. So smooth and rich with subtle flavours— not burnt tasting or harsh at “
“I go here every couple of weeks for the last year with my partner and the lovely woman that owns the shop & her teenage kid run it and are so sweet and caring. I was excited to find that we had bingsoo in Victoria since we as a city are lacking a lot of good treats, so it's well worth the drive and the bingsoo never misses ?We love the mango the best, but also strawberry, Oreo, grape(w/ yogurt bingsoo), and the brown sugar boba bingsoo too!My partner also likes to order in a lot and gets 2 at a time. They freeze well and are like a yummy frozen project to chip your way through when you want a treat later! The Nutella taiyaki is also our fav. Thaws our tongue after our mouth is too cold and lets us keep going on the bingsoo!“
“A cozy little shop in a great location! Delicious treats, and wonderful beverages. I really like the detail of the spiral decoration on my lattes! The art on the wall is great, and I really appreciate the yearly Honeschoolers Art Show ❤️“
“Awesome little bakery with absolutely delicious pastries. They have a cool little diner in the back with amazing breakfast sandwiches. They have a full menu for breakfast and lunch that stay busy. But the star of the show is the pastries and cakes.“
“Cute deli-style restaurant with lots of options for a quick work lunch, including a daily feature. Great selection of desserts too, and super nice counter staff. Beautiful outdoor seating area covered in a plant canopy. Loses one star for inconsistency of stuff cooked behind the grill doors, like french fries.“
“great service and food for very reasonable price and view to die for...with choice of inside or outside tables. menu was perfect for both choice of entrees snd size of servings. tea selection was great. with few good choices from black, herbal and green teas. pleasant surprise was the little gift shop with great selection.“
“Just a wonderful cafe, I stopped by and was greeted by Jorge, a wonderful soul who has quite the story of how he arrived in Victoria. The atmosphere is unmatched to a lot of cafes I have checked out. I had conversations with Jorge for quite a while as he cleaned, gave attention to the other customers as well as kept me company. Definitely will be back. Never have I had such an experience at a place before.Regarding the coffee, it really is wonderful coffee, made by passionate people who care. The fritters are absolutely wonderful. Can't wait till my next visit. Hope to see Jorge again, or perhaps I'll have the chance to meet another one of his colleagues.“
“Drove from Langford to try the place. Website said it was open… it wasn’t.Edit**: I gave a harsh review a couple of months ago due to the restaurant not being open. But, that wasn’t fair. I went back yesterday and the churro’s were fantastic- hot and fresh. Surprisingly, for Victoria- affordable. Definitely would recommend!“
