“I can't really call this place a hidden gem in the mission but for what it's worth, the ratings do justice to how great the food is. The cuisine and flavors and unpredictable and interesting. The ambiance is jovial, inviting, not fancy but bustling. Service is knowledge and has good insight into menu and secret menu. My favorite dishes were the mole, tacos (minus the fish one), and the churro with coconut ice cream. Highly recommend this spot, the mole is incredible! Prices are also reasonable for this type of culinary experience. Presentation of the dishes is innovative and pleasant on the eye. Daily happy hour from 4-6 is also a hit.“
“Mashaallah started out as a food truck but now has a stall in the food court of Westfield San Francisco. Despite its humble appearance, this small business offered some of the best Pakistani food I've had in the city from its steam table of freshly-prepared meat and vegetable curries. A star dish here (which came recommended by Soleil Ho) was the Lamb Korma, made of super tender, lean, meaty chunks of lamb in a spiced curry. On my combination plate, I also got the Chana Masala (chickpea curry) and the Palak Paneer (cheese cubes in a velvety puréed spinach sauce), served along with rice. Every item was delicately spiced and flavorful without being too salty, and the garnishes of raw onion and cilantro brought out the freshness of the dishes. On the side, I also had an order of Garlic Naan (another star item), which was perfectly soft and chewy and had a wonderful flavor and aroma from the garlic and herbs. Overall, the food here was absolutely delicious, and the owners were so friendly and hospitable too!“
“My friend recommended this place to me. The place is fairly simple and clean. You order at the counter. There are a few tables for you to dine in, but I find most people order to take out.I like the Simurgh kebab sandwich. The kebabs were delicious but what stood out for me was the Turkish bread. It's not like anything I've had before. It is grilled, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It is probably my favorite sandwich bread now. They make them all from scratch.I've only been there twice, but it's a place I would return again.“
“Started a new job & have literally been here everyday! Motivat is the cutest little hole in the wall, lovely baristas, and strong + freshly made coffee! I was happy Oatmilk and Vanilla syrup were available. Each cup has been superb. Amber is a true sweetheart. A total joy to interact with“
“This Korean market used to be in Downtown Oakland and a few years ago to moved to Montclair which is my neighborhood so I personally was happy it moved there.EM Deli has a wide range of Korean and Asian products ranging from meats, noodles, rices, some veggies and a variety of sauces and spices. There is some prepared cooked foods (fried rice, kimpap, etc.)They have a meat section which has Korean bbq grade cuts (thinly sliced steak, pork for hotpot or Korean bbq)“
“Kiss My Seoul is a great reason to come to the alley across from Hall of Justice, even if you don't have jury duty. A very well priced, very large bowl of food, with many ingredients. I had the pork, it was seasoned beautifully. This is now my go-to when I want "Seoul Food". ??“
“I had the best red lentils I've ever tasted here. The vegetable wot is especially good, well seasoned greens, cabbage, corn, etc. on injera. And the parking's good, especially for Berkeley. My companion and I each got parking spots right in front of the restaurant.“
“Ordered BBQ catering for a Christmas party. Everything was amazing, on time, great communication and easy. I paid via invoice, and then just showed up to pick up everything. Would order again! Brisket, chicken, and mac and cheese were all delicious.“
“We hired Jason to cook and serve two paellas for a Christmas party. His paella is delicious, made with fresh and creative ingredients, and beautifully prepared! Our guests really enjoyed the food! Jason was also very responsive and easy to work with in planning the event. We highly recommend him and look forward to another paella party in the future!“
“First, their espresso and matcha drinks are fantastic. Second, the humans that operate Hedge are down-to-earth, thoughtful, kind, and friendly. And that feeling permeates through everything from the quirky-yet-cozy outdoor seating, to the way they take care of you when you visit. They're authentic people and they genuinely want you to enjoy your beverage and your visit -- and they're great at helping you do both! A lovely place to be, even if only for the time it takes to say hey and pickup a cup of Joe. Shout-outs to Olga, Alex, Kyle, Wei Ling, Billy, and the friends I haven't yet met! P.S. Delicious pastries too!!“
“Crumble & Whisk was amazing to work with and has DELICIOUS and AMAZING cheesecakes!!! ORDER FROM THEM NOW! I live in Florida and my best friend lives in Oakland, California. Every year I buy him a cheesecake for his birthday since we've known each other. The owner/chef Charles Farrier was amazing to work with and super accomodating! I was able to order and get the Cheesecake delivered to my friend as a surprise for his Birthday. I called several places in Oakland, California and the surrounding area trying to get him a cheesecake for his birthday and Charles was the only one willing to make it happen. My best friend was so surprised by it. My friend was so surprised by how big thick and heavy the cheesecake was. He said it was one of the most creamiest, thick, and mouth watering cheesecake he has ever tasted before. And I have bought him a cheesecake for years from many different places. I can't wait to go visit him in California to try one of Charles cheesecakes. I will be ordering him cheesecake from Charles and Crumble & Whisk exclusively moving forward! I also saw that they are a black owned business which is amazing. #SupportBlackBusiness“
“Just tried Thank Que Grill and it was delicious. The location is hard to spot, but don't let that deter you. When you get there, there's tons of parking space, and they have a really lovely shaded outdoor seating area in the back. You can see the care and love that Chef Rene has put into renovating the place. Definitely feeling a good family vibe from behind the counter, got a sample of the juicy chicken before ordering one of their Filipino Bánh mì sandwiches. Make no assumptions, this looks like a Bánh mì, but has a totally distinctive flavor of its own. I didn't get a chance to try the lumpia because I was in a rush but will be heading back (with friends) to try more items.“
“Dennis was very responsive. And assigned team for event was also very responsive. Team brought in their own plates silverware, tools to the party home. Arrived early and took everything back out. Their storage equipment was clean and organized! Appetizers were a bit dry, but salads, Chicken, salmon, ribeye, dinner rolls, and mashed potatoes were wonderful!!!! Successful event so family could focus on celebrating, instead of cooking! Thanks Liberation Foods team!!!“
“I stopped here out of curiosity to after getting items from Arizmendi and Los Cantaros Taqueria. I got the Honey Cake slice, chocolate baklava, and pistachio almond cookies (gluten free). Hatice the owner is very friendly and answered any questions I had. The Honey Cake was amazing, just the right amount of sweetness, not too much. I ate up the cake and baklava but shared the cookies. My family members said the cookies were great. I'll try to arrive before 12noon another time to get their breakfast items, like the egg in the hole. This will be one of my new go to places for food.“
“Chef Emily hosted a team offsite and taught us how to make laksa. Our team had a broad range of experience, from people experienced in making Asian food to those whose most advanced cooking experience was using a microwave - in spite of this, she made it fun and engaging for everyone! It was super informative on Singaporean cuisine and culture, as well as what it’s like working in and being an owner in the food industry. Thanks again for an amazing experience! (and sorry we only took awful photos lol)“
“First time eating here. I got the Chicken Curry rice bowl with the sides and hot sauce. It was so delicious!!! Amazing. And? Next time I’ll ask for less rice and more food on top. It was pretty rice heavy and wished I’d gotten twice as many greens. And weird - I only got one piece plantain, and? regardless- the my meal was amazing. Service was kind and friendly.Love this place!!!Welcome to West Oakland!! ??“
“Creperie Saint Germain had served crepes for us at our company and it was such a success. They had a lot of options for me which is not usually the case since I have gluten-free restricted diet. Their crepes are awesome, the crepe bar was a great idea to have in the office. And the holiday theme was looking awesome.“
“Packaging really sets the stage for the cookies. 10/10. Now the cookies… the traditional Alfajores! 11/10 would recommend. I went for the Greatest Hits: Alfajores sampler and I cannot wait to try the rest of the cookies. You really don’t need to wait to buy these for special occasions- just buy them because you deserve a treat.“
“I had a farewell party here, renting out the space and eating delicious crepes. Laetitia was incredibly accommodating, and everyone had a great time (several people stopped by the next day to tell me it was one of their favorite events.) Very highly recommended!“
“Chef Lala of Jusla Eats was a joy to work with. She was professional, responsive, and runs an efficient operation. Her food was top notch - I ordered the honey garlic chicken, fried catfish, mac and cheese, greens, yams, banana pudding and peach cobbler for an extended family and friends meal. Everything was cooked to perfection, and seasoned just right. Everyone went back for seconds, and raved about the food. I started recommending her to my friends before I even left the reception!“
“GREAT FLAVOR, GREAT FOOD, GREAT PRICES.Been hunting around the East Bay for a couple of weeks now looking for that good Kefta And Doner experience, and I was really disappointed with a couple of the restaurants because their meat just didn't have any flavor. Really bland. Not here! Ordered the Kofte kebab plate, and it was absolutely delicious. Tender perfectly seasoned on fresh pita bread, a scoop of rice, both yogurt and hot sauce, and a dollop of Baba Ganoush. This is one of the best combination Middle Eastern plates I've had in the East bay, ever. I highly recommend this place. Clean interior, friendly staff, clean bathroom, and it easy to find location.“
“I ordered the two plate combo. I am from out of town, so sadly I won’t be able to come here again unless I decided to take another trip to the Bay Area. The Rogan Josh was cooked to perfection, with tender chunks of meat simmered in a rich and aromatic sauce that had just the right balance of spices. Every bite was a delight, and I found myself savoring each mouthful. The vindaloo, on the other hand, was a spicy masterpiece. The heat level was just right for me, adding a nice kick without overpowering the other flavors. The tender meat soaked up the tangy and fiery sauce, creating a dish that was both satisfying and exciting!“
“The best pasta in the bay area made there right in front of you. Atmosphere is only 4 stars just because seating is limited to 6 seats. You can also buy pastas and sauces to go.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a counter that is wheelchair accessible.“
“Burke & Black served it up for us at our event. We had unique, rich, and amazing charcuterie boards for our Black & Brown Founders Fundraiser. I was hosting the event and when I finally got a chance to eat, everyone was actively grazing over the options and trying everything. I was feeling impatient about not being able to get to the food, but happy to see everyone enjoying it. Nicole is amazing and she really picked some unique varieties that come together so well. Based off our experience at our fundraiser event, I highly recommend her.“
“Donna provided a perfect meal for 40 guests to celebrate a wedding. Her food was served warm, portions were perfect for everyone. Her food recommendations were appreciated and enjoyed by all. Food arrived on time. Her assistance with serving addressing questions about food selection was appreciated. Her clean up after the meal was quiet and unobtrusive allowing the celebration to continue without interruption. I would definitely use her kitchen again“
“This is a family owned business. So again. I love to support family businesses. I usually should get the premade breakfast burritos. The staff is very friendly. They do get busy, so you just need to be patient. Overall it's a nice ambiance. And their pastries are so good. If you ever the area give them a try and you won't be disappointed.“
“Walked down to this little spot from our hotel feeling hungry and Mama T delivered. The Famous Fish Sandwich (pictured) is easily my new favorite fish sandwich. My boyfriend got the Famous Chicken and we just can’t decide which is better. Will be returning next time we are in town!“
“Hi all - I had the opportunity to work with Susan Timney, owner, who was just fabulous in helping me with a wonderful menu for our annual holiday lunch at the office. Alas, I was vetoed by the holiday planning committee at large. I have heard terrific things about the quality of her food.“
“Kitchen Woori catered our wedding and it was amazing! All of our guests (even the picky ones and kids) raved about how good the food was. We got the spicy pork (my favorite) and beef bulgogi (also super good), veggie fried rice (delicious!), sweet and sour popcorn chicken (zero leftovers), kimchi and veggie pancakes, cucumber salad (mom favorites) and seasoned broccoli. My partner and I highly HIGHLY recommend Kitchen Woori for your catering needs!“
“We use BoxiChef Catering for our weekly employee lunches and we love the meals! The delivery staff is on time and friendly. The portion sizes are generous and lots of variety on mains and sides. If you are looking for weekly corporate catering, I recommend BoxiChef highly!! Connie Carvalho, Perforce site-lead Alameda, CA“
“We booked our event with Fork & Spoon at a relatively late date so there was a bit of urgency, and they were fantastic. Super nice, responsive, and easy to work with. The food was delicious and the service they provided was stellar. Highly recommended!“
“I have used Ann’s catering twice in the last 18 months. They never disappoint. They are priced right and offer a terrific selection. The food tastes wonderful and is artfully displayed. Thank you for making my daughter in laws baby shower memorable“
“"Absolutely loved this place! The food was delicious and truly authentic. The energy in the restaurant was vibrant and welcoming. What really made our experience stand out was the kind service--everyone was so attentive and friendly. Definitely coming back soon!"“
“GGC recently catered two events for me. One with 150 guests and one with 410 guests. Both events were perfect! Everyone was blown away by the food and left full and happy. Leading up to the event, the staff was super quick to respond, very accommodating and a delight to work with. I will be using them again in the future for sure. Shout out to Kelly and Amanda for all their support!“
“The cooking basics course is an absolute MUST for anyone learning to cook!!! I have always been incredibly nervous around cooking (re: could barely follow a recipe) and have spent my life living off of sandwiches and cereal... so I decided that it was time to finally learn. I live in a different state so when I found the virtual option for the basics series I was a bit apprehensive but enrolling was the BEST DECISION! Chef Olive is great at breaking down each dish to our level while still empowering us to be able to move away from recipes and create things we love. Every week turned out delicious and I now feel so much more confident in my abilities (I've actually started cooking for fun)! I cannot recommend this course enough!!!“
“I frequent this place all the time because of the convenience but the sandwiches are incredible and affordable, and the staff is kindhearted, helpful, and will go out of their way to make sure your experience is the best. If you can try it out one day, I would definitely recommend!“
“Brian Catered a luncheon I had for the Oakland women’s rowing club. Serving 36 women, six of them being vegan, he crafter the absolute Perfect menu. Ceviche, sliders, a berry salad, mushroom empanadas as well as pulled pork, shrimp skewers, and a beautiful vegetable medley. Casual, yet elegantly displayed, the flavor of each dish was outstanding. I can hardly wait for his Montclair location to open. I couldn’t recommend Cafe 15 more adamantly.“
“I've come here many times over the 17 years I've lived in SF, and the food is always delicious. This review is especially for their dessert, a dessert I never tried before, called the muhalabiye. It is like a delicious rose flavored pudding, with fresh whipped cream. Decadent and delicious. The coffee I had paired perfectly with this treat. La Mediterranee has always been lovely and has an adorable ambiance. I am so happy it is still around!“
“Have everything I love all year. First time here, don't know why I never knew about this spot when my 13 year old went with her dad last year lol. Coming back. Everything was good from mild link corn dog, bacon funnel cake, churro parfait, fried oreos, pineapple sausage corn dog, popcorn, dipped strawberries, strawberry cheesecake caramel apple. We enjoyed trying it all. Highly recommend. ??“
“The best taco in the Potrero Hill + Mission Bay neighborhood. The quality of the meats and salsas are outstanding - much better than some nearby restaurants, despite being a food truck. They put a lot of effort into picking a really nice spice blend, and the meats are grilled to a nice crispy texture. I recommend getting a sampler of several different tacos, as each meat is cooked in a slightly different way, yet all are very good. If you are more hungry, I recommend the pastor super burrito, which was the the best pastor burrito I've ever had.The prices are rather cheap for San Francisco. The asada super burrito, which contains avocado and comes with chips+ salsa, only costs $12. However, most competitors charge at least $14 for the same thing (including Chipotle which charges $15.35). This may sound weird, but I hope they can become popular enough to raise their prices. They deserve it.My main criticism is that the cochinita and poc-chuc tacos are a bit more expensive than the standard asada/pollo/pastor tacos, but I don't think that they taste significantly better than the rest. Also, I do wish they came to Potrero Hill more frequently, but I understand they need to serve other parts of the city as well. For comparison, the main competitors in the neighborhood are El Toyonase (which has an outstanding tripe burrito, but nothing else noteworthy), Street Taco (which also has an outstanding "meat only" street burrito, despite having lower quality meat), and Senior Sisig/Los Kuyas (which both have a unique fusion flavor, but are a bit too greasy and not as "fresh" tasting).“
“We came here for breakfast and had a fantastic meal. We ordered the buttermilk pancakes, New York everything bagel platter, potato pancakes, banana rum soufflé pancakes, and 2 sunny side up eggs with home fries and chorizo. We really enjoyed the banana rum soufflé pancakes, and the buttermilk pancakes are the best pancakes we’ve ever had, as they’re so thick, light, and fluffy. We will definitely come back again when we’re back in Berkeley!“
“Staying in Chinatown, it was harder to find a vegetarian breakfast/brunch nearby than I expected. K Five Fifty is an unassuming counter in the expansive lobby of 550 Kearny. Turns out it's a full kitchen with a chef cooking to order, although some items are packaged for grab and go. The menu is brief but flexible. I had the avocado toast. It includes poached eggs, but he was happy to scramble them for me. I'm guessing you can make this vegan by swapping the eggs for one of the sides. Friendly proprietor, great service, and excellent value. All the ingredients were fresh and the toast was an excellent crispy whole grain sour dough that held up to the thick avocado. As far as ambiance, I was content to chill out and read to the sound of the chef chopping his mis en place and the muted lobby muzak.“
“Lola's catered our birthday party this weekend. Easy to work with, flexible, on time and everything delivered with style. They also helped us out by supplying G, an outstanding bartender. Loved the chef, great guy. Our only regret was that we are so busy partying our guests ate all the paella. Hearing this, they offered to give us additional paella at the Kensington Farmers market the next day. Highly appreciate that touch.“
“@ the Barbara lady - do you think the other vendors you mentioned don't use can beans - com'on get a grip! $15 is nothing compared to the great taste, customer service and the quality. The Burritos are delicious - Super Burrito's (2 meals in one) they are not street tacos by any stretch. Leave it to people like you who try to hurt small businesses with your negative vibes. We wish you well!“
“Well , to start off I do believe I was the first of the day, so you guys really need to clean the grill a lot better !!! the meat tastes burnt!!! other than that the flavors were there , the pickle the lettuce, yogurt sauce, the dill. The pitas were perfect 10 outta 10 . WAYY SMALL PORTIONS!!! S SIGN OF THE TIMES I GUESS...“
“Jasmine Catering run by Chef Oded Hilu was amazing throughout our wedding planning process and even better on the day of. We got married at the Brazil Room, where Jasmine Catering is a preferred catering vendor for the venue. We did a taste testing with Oded about a year prior to the wedding. He made the tasting experience super personable and comfortable for my husband and I.As we planned the wedding, we had many questions about the day of and he was super fast and responsive up until the very end. He helped us choose the right menu for our guests. He helped us with table and chair set up.On the day of— his team was amazing! They were fast and efficient in setting everything up. They don’t have much time to set up and I was nervous hoping it would all be set up in time. But his team did it and they were very professional and helpful to our coordinator and her team.During the wedding, the staff was awesome. They were attentive, quick, and respectful to our guests. They made sure champagne and wine glasses were full all night. They made sure to use our bar decor and kept our guests happy with the bar all night. The food was amazing! Our guests are still talking about the amazing food especially the salad. lol!! I think about that balsamic dressing all the time. Haha.Oded, thank you for your hard work you contributed to our special day. We cannot thank you enough for all you and your team did for us. THANK YOU. And I highly recommend hiring Jasmine Catering!!(Still waiting on photos from our photographer so don’t have much)“
“I used to work at the Hunters Point Brewery when I first learned of Vasquez Coffee and I fell in love! The coffee was so delicious I could drink it black. I was even more thrilled to find out that the roaster is a Latina woman from the Mission. Now we are partnering and serving her amazing coffee in our new cafe - One Love!“
“I was lucky enough to find Pacific Fine Food in time to hire them for a community Tiki party. Erin was warm and very professional. We were able to schedule a tasting to make sure we knew exactly what we would be serving. The food was delivered to the event, and it was a hit! I am just about to write Erin for a work function coming up. Looking forward to with Pacific Fine Food again!! Thank you, Erin and team!!“
“Derry is absolutely amazing. He was great to work with and so flexible and accommodating. The food was fabulous and our guests were really impressed. We loved having Derry as our wedding caterer. We highly recommend Englund's Catering!“
“Friendly staff and lovely seating interior. Food was delicious with good wok fire. The sizzling seafood plate was flavorful and went well with jasmine rice. The red duck curry was delicious with sticky rice. Coconut pad Thai was very satisfying and great portion. I saw lots of take out orders getting delivered every several minutes at dinner time. Glad to find out about this restaurant as it stays open till 10 pm. Easy parking in its own lot. I will come back to try other dishes.“
