“This place is a little hidden Gem. Guess I won't be hitting up the Del Taco anymore. Everything from the chips and salsa to the carnitas y carne asada were delish!! The staff was friendly and helpful. Might try the carne asada quesadilla next time we cruise through. Muchas Gracias!“
“Every single ingredient in the chili burrito was out of this world fresh & flavorful! Haven't been this blissed out from a burrito in a long time. Super fresh chips. Such friendly people. Love all the beautiful murals & music. This place is an all around true oasis. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!“
“On our way back to Vegas, we stopped here. Just off Route 66, this place doesn't seem like much from the outside, but wow! We had a group of 7 (including 3 wild kids!) and the service was amazing. They were so patient and kind. The food was outstanding. Everyone had something different and we all raved about how good the meal was! I joked I was coming back next week (I live in Texas). Definitely going to pass on the word! Thanks Billie Jo for the wonderful experience! Pictured is the pulled pork sandwich. Forgot to get the rest.“
“Lunch on the way from Las Vegas to San Francisco lived up to its high praise, from the tortilla dip for the appetizer to the main meal, which made us finish off the huge portion of the main meal when we were not very hungry at first. Recommended to everyone.“
“So good! Just like I remember as a kid. Had a fish taco, a Barstow taco and a green burrito. Got 2 Bun Tacos to take home. All were perfect and delicious. Staff is friendly and the place is clean. Staff cares about the place. My only gripe is it doesn’t have outside seating but the location outside isn’t very appealing. They have Coke Zero on tap and cherry coke too!!!Parking: Limited but parking on the street.“
“Driving to Las Vegas we stopped to eat at Jenny's Grill because of the great reviews and WOW!!!! We were not disappointed. Janet, our server, was amazing. It was very busy when we arrived but she took the time to find us a great table and her service continued as busy as it was. We never felt rushed or pushed to order. We both had the NY steak (mid rare) and eggs (sunny side) everything was cooked to perfection. Great tasting food and smiles all around. Later we found out that Janet had just started working for only a few days.... Great job training and Janet personally came out . Thank you Jenny's Grill for this opportunity to experience the restaurant... 10 plus stars“
“It’s about the journey not the destination, and in this case the destination was The Original Del Taco location. With The Original Del Taco being defunct in a food-sense but thriving in a niche-disaster-tourism-sense we knew we only needed to compensate for the food portion. On that part of the journey, we stumbled upon Chela’s y Carnitas and Rainbow Deserts. Great fish, shrimp, and pastor tacos with overflowing asada fries. To top it off, the flan comes served in a cup perfectly sized for taking it on the road.“
“This place is special. It reminds me of what the quality and service that used to exist in fast food in the 80s and early 90s. The staff is great. Multiple employees asked if I needed anything. They have the original menu. The manager Mark bussed my table when I was finished. I really enjoyed the old style booths. It's like going back in time to the good old days. They any have a great carrot cake. I will never go through Barstow again without stopping here. I have to say thanks to the owner for keeping this time capsule alive!!!!“
“Our entire family grew up eating here. It's always been one of my favorites. Now I bring my kids here to eat every time we pass through Barstow from AZ and Las Vegas. It's a definite stop! The food is great. The original family that owns it we grew up seeing every time my grandpa took us there as kids. Plata's is a piece of our childhood memories“
“Popped in while traveling through the area for work and man, this place did not disappoint. Freshest and most tasty potato&cheese tacos I’ve ever had.Their spicy harissa/chile sauce is amazing, and while I couldn’t try their bean burritos (bean is made with lard), there were plenty of options for me on the menu that could be modified to be vegetarian. The ladies that work here are really sweet and kind, and it honestly felt like I was stepping into someone’s home kitchen. It was a great stopover and experience.“
“This little hidden gem was a must! It has the greatest women friendly vibes! Family was seen working together and service was above and beyond. They were the sweetest family and bent over backward for our family of 6, even my little crazy 3 yo who won’t sit still. The service alone would make me return, but then we received the food! And boom! Blown away again. I cannot recommend this spot enough! Will return.Vegetarian options: The made a special veggie version of the California burrito for my daughter! And they were the ones who offered!“
“I stayed at the hotel and went to the restaurant. To start off the service was very good. Everyone was nice and attentive. I ordered the Mexican jambalaya and let me tell you it was bomb. It was pricey but worth it. I got the spicy beans on the side and they were stupid delicious ?. I definitely recommend this place to any Mexican food lover. The menu had lots of different options.Parking: Truck parking“
“A must!! Just go! Plata's and I go wayyyyy back. I've been eating here since my youth. I do not live in Barstow so...I can only experience this deliciousness when visiting or driving through. What I order: Combination burrito w/pork, medium. 3 bean & cheese burritos...all "medium" in heat level. When deciding on heat level (mild, medium, hot) I go with medium , mild is too..mild and hot is too...HOT ! If you need a fancy dining experience. This ain't it. If you want deliciously flavored food-this is your place! Go!!! **I do not sway from the above order-I cannot speak to other options.“
“It's been over a decade since I've had food this good from this style restaurant (iykyk). If you are looking for a place that does the flying saucer right, this is the best. We also had the breakfast burrito and a Carne asada Torta. Also the guacamole was on point. All to perfection. We're going to go here from now on.“
“We stopped by chance because my eyes were watering a lot and I couldn't drive anymore. Food OK, deserves 5 stars within the fast-food proposal. For those from Brazil, it is an alternative that we cannot find in our country. Lots of manual workers nearby, which is great to get a feel for the local atmosphere.Parking: The classic fast-food parking lot: lots of open spaces.“
“I’ve been eating here on average 15 times per year for the last 17 years. In all that time I’ve had a handful of issues with a missing sauce or fork or something insignificant. But today 2/11/24 at about 1pm is hands down the best order of Carne fries I’ve ever had. ? “
“Make a note that this location is an "Original" Del Taco. Aesthetically the building may look like your everyday run of the mill Del Taco, But I promise it's not. The original owners still own this and a few other locations and the ingredients and flavor are pretty much unchanged from the corporate cost (flavor) cutting model that's so prevalent in today's food marketplace. I ordered the original Barstow taco's and honestly not another QSR can hold a candle to the portion and flavor of these taco's. Packed full of meat (predominant ingredient) with lettuce, cheese, and a tomato slice on top, these tacos were truly flavorful and filling. The location was busy for Monday lunch, but the staff were cranking out orders and running like a well oiled machine. I waited no longer than 5min for my order to be handed to me.I look forward to visiting again!“
