“Ordered takeout from here after a big move and everyone was raving about how delicious it was. Generous portions, reasonable turnaround for the order to be ready, and they called me when it was ready.Parking lot had plenty of space at 7pm on a weeknight.Careful not to miss this place, it is right next to a freeway overpass and the parking entrance is off a side street.“
“I don’t get to eat Indian food as much as I would like. I’m not a buffet person so finding an Indian restaurant that just has menu service can be difficult. Thankful we’ve found one with Mayura Indian Restaurant….great food and you can order off the menu any time of the day.The Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma and Dosas Chee Roast was excellent. The sauce the chicken and lamb were served in was very favorable and delicious. The sauces with the Dosas were ok.What I would not order during our next visit is the Vegetable Biryani. It tasted of stale / old rice.Dinning room was interesting with pictures of well know people who have dined at the restaurant.Looking forward to going back and trying more dishes.“
“Excellent Indian food with a variety of veg and non veg dishes. Authentic and very flavorful. There are several small tables inside. The only downside is all of the plastic dishes and utensils the food is served with. There could be a paper/wood option for those dining in.“
“Food is great. Service is friendly.Found a sticker on my bell pepper. It makes me wonder if they washed their veggies before cooking because had they washed it they would have found it.I’m sure the heat killed ant bacteria on it but still. Wash your food before cooking!!!!“
“I had lunch today for the first time. Veg samosas, sag paneer, channa masala, rice and potato stuffed naan. All of it was so fresh and very delicious! Large portions so I had plenty to take home. It was also very clean and quiet with attentive service. I'll be back.“
“Roots felt like a home away from home! The warm and welcoming ambiance, coupled with the exceptional service, made my experience truly memorable. From the moment I walked in until the last bite, I was treated like family. A definite must-visit for anyone seeking a cozy, friendly atmosphere with top-notch cuisine. Five stars without a doubt!"“
“Excellent Indian food. Under a new name, but this is still Zagat rated Addis Tandoor. Same owners, same great food. Come hungry, and leave full. I need to branch out more on their menu, but I can recommend the Chicken Tikka, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Saag Paneer, Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, Papadum, and their Vegetable Samosas. All well done. The only caveat I would forewarn: they will ask you how spicy you want it. If you say NOT spicy, it's not going to have a lot of the great flavors that come with a reasonable level of spice. So I recommend you let them make it how it's supposed to be so you can really get all the great flavors.“
“This place has amazing food. I came here when they first opened about a year and a half ago and it was very fresh. Lamb is very tender and tasty. Chicken Tikka is flavorful and you can taste the chicken was grilled before adding the sauces. The eggplant has a smoky flavor that I loved. Customer service is very good. Smiles are always a plus before enjoying a great meal. ThantsVegetarian options: Have tried the smoked eggplant, chana masala and palak paneer, outstanding.“
“Absolutely my favorite Indian place in Los Angeles. Staff are super nice and service is quick. The food is absolutely delicious. I can't stop myself from ordering from here at least a couple times each month. Small seating area, so mostly takeout-oriented. Order through their website to avoid unnecessary fees!“
“Excellent delicious, fresh, healthy vegetarian food served in a highly uplifting atmosphere. Nice people, and fantastic location next to the Krishna temple. We also went to the Bhagavad Gita museum next door and thought that was fabulous. Will definitely return the next time we are in LA!“
“I’ve tried many restaurants in Los Angeles and not only is this spot accommodating and welcoming. They truly have the TASTE, everything is FRESH and delicious. Can’t wait to come back. Maruf is an excelled attribute to the restaurant! Go check crown of India soon!“
“I've been a long time fan of Tara's (have been coming for several years!) The service is always quick and friendly, there's a great selection of beverages including cocktails and beer, the decor is nice. But the real star is the food -- I'm Assamese, so my family's traditional food is very close to Nepalese/Himalayan food, and I can absolutely attest to the fact that this is very authentic and DELICIOUS Himalayan cuisine! The momos and samosas are to die for (I even had them catered to a work DEI event that I planned, and the entire crowd loved them -- even had several people go out of their way to visit the restaurant after the event because of how good they were!) I'm also partial to the garlic naan and butter chicken. Nepalese food is traditionally less spicy than the South or North Indian foods you'd find at an Indian restaurant, so keep that in mind when ordering (e.g. I would usually order "mild" at an Indian restaurant, here I order "medium" or "high" spiciness). Also, Tara, the owner, is an absolute joy to work with both as a regular customer and as someone ordering catering services. She and her husband even hand delivered our catering order to the office. Couldn't recommend this place enough, eat local!!“
“I was traveling to LA from India and after weeks of eating other cuisines I craved for Indian food. This place serves tasty Indian food. We had chana masala, lamb biriyani, tandoori roti and mango lassi. We weren’t happy with their masala chai and they were generous enough to not charge it.Good service and tasty food.“
“Not the nicest place to eat at but the food was pretty amazing. There are a lot of choices with the majority having a bit of heat to them.My partner got the vegetable curry with naan. It was very tasty and a bit salty for me so I think it would have paired better with rice.I got the shrimp curry and also an order of chicken biryani rice. The spices were on point but the chicken was a bit dry. It actually was an excellent dish to pair with the vegetable curry in my opinion.Parking was a bit difficult since all I was able to find was street parking.Seating was limited and would probably recommend getting things to go if it's busy.Despite these little things i would definitely recommend going here for some excellent food! Thinking of getting something tomorrow actually....“
“Food is amazing.Customer service is excellent. The new location in DTLA has so much more space. Would definitely recommend eating here if you are looking for delicious and fast Indian food! Although no street parking there is a $5 parking next door“
“Excellent place for brunch! The outdoor garden patio is so lovely, and there are space heaters to warm up the chillier Santa Monica mornings. The service is super attentive and friendly. The food is great too - our faves were the cabbage salad with chicken and the congee.“
“I ordered the Chicken Biriyani. Food was good. But, Spicy level also good.(As, I ordered). But, It’s not like Genuine Biriyani. Look like they just mixed up some rice with Oil and Masala.. I hope they will give better service with food quality.! They, give a small box of Salad. Usually others restaurant does not offer this. I like that. Overall, Good luck for them.“
“Store owner is great. Cheap groceries and has everything you'd need to make a last minute meal or if you're missing an ingredient which I've needed on occasion lol. I'm super excited that I won't have to drive far and it's open late. Definitely recommend!“
“This is one of my favorite lunch spots. The Tandoori chicken lunch is the best bang for your buck I know of. The chicken is savory and grilled perfectly, balanced well with the side of spinach and chicken tikka masala. Service is great as well.“
“Best Indian restaurant we have tried since long. Amazing food and friendly staff. Everything is so delicious vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian. Highly recommended place if you are nearby and want to have authentic indian cuisine.Vegetarian options: Good amount of options for vegetarian“
“Visiting from Vancouver and came across this sweet little restaurant. Food was absolutely amazing - fresh, flavourful, and delicious! My wife and I are quite picky about Indian food but this place hit the mark! We had to go back one more time before we left L.A. They were closing that day but the owner was super kind and let us in. Will definitely come back to this place the next time we visit L.A.“
“This was the 2nd time visit for me. My friend wanted to go there for her birthday dinner. We ordered several kinds of curry and samosas. Food was good but a little spicy for me even if we selected medium spicy. Maybe we will order mild next time?“
“The best south Indian food i have ever had after coming to US , in most of the places either one or two dishes will be good , in here every dish is excellent , the buffet is totally worth it. Must go if you are visiting universal studios or any other tourist places .Must try’s -Vijaywada chicken Biryani , chicken kebab, mutton“
“Delighted with my experience at the EK restaurant! The flavors were exquisite, service impeccable, and the ambiance truly captured the essence of India. A definite 5-star dining destination. Don’t forget to order the “original cheese naan”“
“Star of India dazzles with its vegetarian fare, making every dish a celebration of flavor. The Paneer Coconut Masala is a standout - cubes of soft paneer bathed in a luxuriously creamy coconut sauce, masterfully spiced to create a harmonious blend of sweet and savory. Each spoonful is a testament to the rich, aromatic treasures of Indian cuisine. Accompanied by their signature fluffy Naan, this meal is not just food, but a voyage through India’s vibrant culinary heritage. Dining here is more than a treat; it’s an unforgettable experience of authentic, heartwarming flavors.“
“This was a good place for Indian food, despite being in a very turisty location. The portions are large, the quality and authenticity is there. Sometimes Indian food can be greasy, this was not the case, it had the right amount of flavor and fat to it. The server could have been a bit more proactive, but all in all it was a good place.“
“My partner and I were looking for other Indian food restaurants around the area for a change and are glad our risk paid off.The staff were very friendly and attentive. We got the meal for two which included the lentil soup, chicken tandoori, veggie samosas, naan, desert, plus our personal choices which were the chicken balti and spinach paneer. We couldn’t find fault with any of our food and left feeling stuffed! We would recommend pairs of 2 consider doing the same.“
“Ordered a chai, garlic naan, matar paneer, okra dish, and vegetable biryani. Everything was magnificent and we will definitely be going back. Their chai tasted like home! This restaraunt is Bangladeshi-owned and their daughter Hafsa is such a sweet host and her parents are wonderful and talented cooks!Parking: 6 spotsKid-friendliness: Small space but very kid friendly!“
“Overall the food was AMAZING! ? This was my first time ever trying Indian cuisine and my god it was so tasty! They don’t skimp on the portions at all! I paid around $37 and they gave me enough food to feed a family of 3! lol ? Honesty I recommend this place. If I knew this hidden jem existed before I would’ve reviewed this place earlier lol“
“Dropped in before the opera. My friend and I had an array of shared plates. The sweet potato plate is amazing. Get an order of crisps to scoop up their sauce. Our second favorite was the lamb chops. Service was super fast on these plates. We only had an hour before we were due at Disney Hall. The entrées we were told take more time. Never got our drinks because (we were told) the bar was crushed with a table of 25 order. Literally, we ate sweet potatoes, lamb chops, Cauliflower, mushrooms, crisps, and had not been served our drink, so we took it off the order and went to the opera. The drink menu looks amazing. ?♀️ idk. Still had great dinner and our water glasses were never empty.“
“The food is really delicious and yummy... After a very long while I have found a proper authentic Indian taste.... The place is small but the taste is very very large.... Must try for anyone who wants to have an authentic Indian food.... Must go!“
“I recently dined at this exceptional Indian restaurant in Beverly Hills and had an outstanding experience. The service provided by Satish was impeccable, adding a personal touch to our meal. The food quality was truly exceptional, with a rich blend of authentic flavors that delighted my taste buds. The ambiance was inviting, making it a perfect setting for a delightful evening. This establishment exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a top-notch dining experience.“
“Very tasty Indian. The buffet has a great selection of Indian basics and some unique dishes. Overall, the spice and flavor level should please most Americans, but I enjoy more complex flavors and spice variety in my Indian food. Some of the dishes were a bit more heavy and oily than I prefer, the gulab jamin were definitely over cooked, and the naan was flat and lifeless, but the chicken mahkni was flavored perfectly, their pepper chicken was something to write home about, and their tandoori chicken was well seasoned and perfectly cooked!!!! ❤️ the buffet also comes with a fresh dosa.... This was the BEST dosa I have EVER had outside of India. Worth the visit all on it's own. They have dosa specials apparently and I would come just for that next time. It was the size of my forearm, perfectly soft and crispy at the same time, with the perfect hint of cheese as you ate it. I'm still dreaming about it! Service was fine, bathrooms were clean, parking was free and ample. Oh and many Indian customers eating the buffet, which is always a fantastic sign!“
“I must recommend this restaurant for the exceptional quality of the food. Every dish I've tried has been prepared with exquisite attention to detail, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients and the skill of chefs. highly recommended“
“OMG the tikka masala spaghetti and the indo-chinese veggie chowmein are INCREDIBLE. Can't find dishes like this anywhere else in LA. And the Indian tacos are INSANE. Very distinct menu. Delicious food. And super friendly staff. Definitely making this a regular stop on the rotation.“
“I'm not from Los Angeles and this was my first dinner in the city. I want to describe this experience as wonderful. Delicious food and perfect service. Congratulations to whoever cooked but above all to the owner who served us and treated us with extraordinary kindness. I will definitely go back.“
“This is one of my go-to lunch spots in DTLA. And, now my new favorite delivery. It’s rare to find such a clean, modern feeling space that serves such authentic and diverse Indian food. I love that they have dishes from different regions, especially Dosa which can be tough to find in LA. I ordered delivery for the first time and was thrilled that I did- some restaurant food doesn’t hold up once it’s to-go, but their service was remarkably fast, and the food still felt just as fresh, hot, and high quality as I’d come to expect at their brick and mortar. It was exactly the kind of comfort food I wanted- I felt like I’d had an auntie cook for me. The flavors were savory & succulent, the breads and samosas crisp & aromatic, and each curry was carefully packed into a perfectly segmented serving box. I will never order from another Indian spot again- Tulsi is all I need.“
“This place is the 1st Indian restaurant to make food that is tasty and non spicy! A real game changer for me as I can't handle spicy food at all. And although that did an extraordinary service to adjust that to suit me, it didn't lack flavour and authenticity. Delicious dishes, generous portions and lovely staff ?“
“Great place to go and eat ! Even if you’re feeling like eating in or to go or even door dash oh my gosh I’m going now I love there butter chicken !!!! A MUST HAVE !!!!Kid-friendliness: Wonderful service family owned businessWheelchair accessibility: There’s ramps“
“We have gotten takeout from Taj Mahal of India almost every week for years. Their prices are the same today as they were before the pandemic, which is incredible. Fantastic quality and taste for the price. We get the Butter Chicken (Chicken Makhani) and Tikke Masala and garlic naan and it is $29.00 (without tip).Give them your business“
“Such a great eating experience. No frills, plain and good Indian food for indians and non-indians alike. It didnt feel super Americanized- was very tasty and cooked with care. I had their combo plate w gulab jamun, was sooo good. Wish I could have it again :) They had a Sambhar which was green, intetesting. Owner and man at front are super nice and helpful, no nonsense. Thanks and hope to be back! :)“
“Chandni is closed??????? Oh no!!!! We love Chandni! Chandni has been our family's favorite vegetarian restaurant. Every dish we have had is always fresh and delicious (dine-in). Heartbroken. Please let me know if you are opening at a new location.“
“This place is incredible. We walked past and actually stopped dead in our tracks to smell the air wafting out, and then later we doubled back to get something because we couldn’t get that amazing smell out of our heads. We got Chicken Korma, chicken samosas, and cheese naan. The korma is incredibly well layered, the samosas are crisped to perfection, and the cheese naan is one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever put into my mouth. The mango lassi is also creamy and delicious ? everything was made fresh!“
“The food is delicious, infact differently delicious. The same Indian dishes taste differently spiced at this restaurant. Service is very friendly yet professional. The place although I find it a little shady with all those colors combos but it's upto the individual's choice. Overall a good restaurant. Also, home delivery is available directly from the restaurant in nearby areas. That's the best point.“
“Hidden little gem in a plaza that looks uninviting on the outside but very cozy on the inside and serves authentic, large portion dishes. I ordered for pick up on Uber eats as they had a BOGO promotion on a variety of different combos. So, my boyfriend and I chose the chicken tikka masala that came with plain naan for only $18 for 2. The taste matched the amazing price point. The sauce was super rich and creamy with a hint of sweetness + tanginess and medium heat then topped with the well balanced spices that come along with Indian dishes. However, it was the service that caught my attention and triggered my desire to promote the business even more. I want to say it was the owner that had such a welcoming & kind character to him. When I ordered from here before, the combos used to come with drinks so I assumed the same with ordering this time around. We asked if they had forgotten our sodas and he softly explained "oh, I'm sorry. That was the old promotion we used to do but I don't mind giving you guys sodas. Thanks for being returning customers" with a sweet smile.Don't forget to support small businesses - this one is definitely a big worth it in my books!“
“I’ve been coming here for lunch for almost 30 years! You can smell the wonderful food when you open the door. You can view many dishes behind the glass and order even more dishes from the kitchen. Don’t forget Indian sweets and groceries for later! This is homemade vegitarian Indian food at its best! Check this place out!!“
“I have many memories of this place. I used to come here for my favorite Briyani, naan and Paneer tikka. I don’t eat meat but Al Amin guys used to make veggie version of Briyani & Tikka masala. I was back in town so I decided to check in. I called the store but it was sad to hear that they don’t sell food anymore. Their kitchen is closed till further notice. Well, COVID sucks! I wish they bring back their kitchen. I miss enjoying their Briyani.“
“Kept getting Chicken Biryani Street Food video recommendations on YouTube. Liked what I saw and researched local restaurants. I found this place. I’m not well versed in food from this part of the world. Had the Chicken Biryani and Chicken Samosas. Both were excellent. Will definitely come back and try other dishes.“
