“This is a great choice for lunch. They have nice combo meals with food + tea. You do have to upgrade if you want a milk tea with boba but it is worth it (versus a standard tea). They don't ask for tip and they offer a staff discount. I like the crispy chicken or crispy pork steak extra spicy. I would caution that it is easy to forget and get the wrong tea without boba you need to be sure to specify. It would be nice if they asked as I guess most people want the tea with boba.“

It's served fresh, very tender on the inside (almost like melts as you chew), and thin and crusty on the outside; not a lot of breading. Spice is just right (mild). “A local mom and pop place in one of the busy plazas of convoy, which I was not surprise. We came here after dinner next door because we wanted something sweet and a dessert to top off our meal. A lot of the ordering was sort of confusing, but we opted to pick their top choices which was advertise on a banner. We got the purple rice yogurt drink and the mango yogurt drink. The dessert comes from Taiwanese culture i believe, but the dessert itself is a blended rice mixture with yogurt based, fruit, and cream. Overall, the drink was decent, but it just missed the mark for me being a dessert after a heavy meal. I was hoping their flavors to be bolder and stand out more, but missed the mark. However; I will still keep this as an option for dessert late night because I love supporting local mom and pop stores.“

“There are an abundance of drink options: caffeinated or not. I opted for a mango-yogurt-sago-grapefruit drink that was being advertised on a poster. It was more expensive than the other posted drinks but it was a good combination of flavors and contrasting textures. Even at the regular sweetness level, the drink wasn't cloyingly sweet. The sago was perfectly cooked with a bit of a chew and the grapefruit pulp was evident. I would have only asked that the skin of the segments be left out pieces of it would get stuck in my straw and also left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth. My hubs had a jasmine milk tea with boba. It was decent but nothing special he said. The store has a quiet study environment with a bar top table that faces the window for singles, small tables for pairs and movable tables for larger groups. The instrumental music provided a cafe ambiance without disrupting our train of thought. Other patrons seemed to also desire a quieter environment keeping their voices down as well. Friendly service. Ample parking although spaces were marked for 20 mins of 1 hour only.“

“This place is insanely busy w/ online orders (I've been delivering on the apps for the last 2 years) but I never tried it, because I assumed everything was just sugar water (I'm T1D) Maaaaaaan, I've been missing out. I mostly get the same thing, because it's so good, but the lady asked me the other day if I wanted boba. I've never had it and assumed it was gelatin, nope, just tapioca starch. I don't know if you've ever had boba but trust me, it's like a circus in your mouth, like it is so much fun ?? “Kung Fu has been my regular spot for boba tea for several years now. Usually easy parking, friendly staff and a large menu of tea choices. For a while you could only pay by Apple Pay or their app which I really didn't like, but they now are back to accepting other payment methods. The Thai Yea is good here as is the Winter-melon. The boba is a little chewy but you can sub it out. Good late night spot is you are in the area.“

“We ordered the Ube & taro brown sugar milk with boba and the lychee yogurt smoothie. I think both drinks were winners. They don't have a super big menu here, but they do have a number of non-caffeinated options as well as caffeinated ones, which is always appreciated. The Ube taro brown sugar milk has a fixed sweetness, and luckily the drink is actually not too sweet. There's real taro paste inside, and it's super creamy and delicious. I'm happy to also report that the texture of the boba is on point, and it's sweetened with brown sugar & not flavorless. We got it with light ice and they did not overdo it on the ice like some other places do. The lychee yogurt smoothie can be adjusted for sweetness, so I got it at 50% sweetness and that was the right move for sure. It was good, but I wish it had more of a pronounced yogurt flavor. I like how there are real pieces of lychee in this drink. I wish that they had served mine in a see-through cup instead of the odd choice of having a seasonal holiday cup mid-March lol. I'm one of those people who like to take pictures of their food and I like the aesthetic of being able to see my drink. (Yes, this is nitpicking, and no, I didn't mind it that much.) The environment is bright and while there aren't that many tables, it's still a good location to chat. We stayed here for a little bit enjoying our drinks. I docked it one point because the price point is pretty high. It was $7.25-7.75 for these drinks. I've paid that much for boba before, but those usually have a bunch of toppings or have more expensive ingredients like matcha.“

The dumplings and potstickers were pretty bland- they didn't taste bad, they just didn't taste like much, especially when you're expecting kimchi. The Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup was better, and that's what I mostly enjoyed. In terms of asian food in San Diego, I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but it does okay if you're in the area and don't want to travel all the way to Convoy. “Always super busy in Happy Lemon and there is parking in the back but also quite chaotic. Best thing to do is to park somewhere on the street and walk over. The drink itself is sweet but I don't find it overwhelming and heavy, and even though it is sweet, I can still taste the tea brewed it in. I was surprised by how long it took for them to make our one drink, but I also have to take into consideration that there were online orders coming in as well. I wasn't blown away by the service but I appreciate that they helped me narrow down what would be good for my kids, even if they seemed rushed. Over all, this was a really fun treat for my kids. They still talk about getting Boba in California and those mango boba were delicious!“
