“i dont eat dessert often. but every product here ,its size is perfect for sweet guilty. highly recommend pumpkin basque cheese cake, japanese pumpkin mixed so well with cheese and bought a fine hint flavor when melting in mouth. if possible i could eat it everyday!“
“2/28/2024Sushiko4546 El Camino RealSte A4Los Altos, CA 94022We went there for lunch on a Wed around noon. It's in the Village Court plaza at the corner of ECR and San Antonio Rd. The store front faces San Antonio Rd. with parking around the periphery of the shops. Not too many people when we got there and it starting filling up while we dined. Probably no need for reservations. It's a booth and table layout with a smallish sushi bar. They didn't have calamari. Wifey had the stir fried seafood udon and I had the lunch special Bento Box with Saba Shioyaki and mixed Tempura. My Miso soup was thick, flavorful and had some Wakame but no diced tofu, just okay. The udon had a good selection of seafood, including mussels and shrimp. My Saba was juicy and tasty, with some edible pin bones. The mixed tempura was hot and included two sweet shrimp with assorted vegetables having a crunchy and slightly greasy breading. The salad had a mayo dressing and just okay, no sesame or soy flavors. The menu is extensive with sushi, bento and udon selections. The service was good, even with just a single server. The lunch special bento box is a good value. Similar to several other places in the area, it's repeatable.“
“We really enjoyed our dinner at Mikado. The dinner was very good, and the outdoor seating made us feel safe. The tempura was excellent - lightly fried and not greasy at all. There wasn't anything wrong at all. I gave it 4 stars because I didn't walk away with the urge of coming back again soon. But I do recommend Mikado.Parking: Lots of free street parking not far away. There is also a large free parking lot on the other side of the building. No problem at all.“
“If I could give this place an 11/10 I would. I usually don’t give reviews but the food was amazing, the service was excellent and the restaurant was so cute. We had the giants roll, the dancing dragon and the red hearts roll and they were delicious! Fairly priced with an inviting ambiance. If you’re craving sushi this place is an absolute must, we will definitely be coming back!“
“I really enjoyed Sumo sushi. Very fresh and tasty fish, complimentary appetizer and dessert, and the sushi boats! What could be better? Agedashi tofu was tender and flavorful, hamachi avocado - refreshing, and the rolls and the nigiri just right. I shall be back!“
“good place for when you’re missing those nights in japan hanging and eating at an izakaya. not too busy, good selection of yakitori and sashimi cuts, mostly small dishes. a lot of tempuras and karaages to choose from in particular, only thing was the sauces on the skewers were a bit cheap tasting and salty, was expecting something a bit more homemade given the rest of the menu.“
“Ideally I would have to say I would give Robin a 3.5 stars. Upon arriving to the restaurant, it was storming outside and there were no signs for us to find the place. When we entered, we got greeted by friendly staff members and got seated. I think what makes Robin a bit more unique compared to other omakase places is that you can choose your own price range and the chefs accommodate with what you had picked, but in my opinion I would have preferred them to give a set price to choose from. Inside of the restaurant was beautiful, I loved the interior design, but if you're looking for a quiet/intimate omakase experience this is not the place for that. Music is pretty loud and the parties around us were talking with their outside voice , which I didn't mind because like I mentioned the vibes at Robin is definitely more casual. In terms of the quality of food, I would have to say, while everything was super fresh and good, nothing stood out to me. On top of that, every omakase I've been to so far, I would have been full 80% in but we left Robin still hungry. Our total came out to be $470, and I would have expected to leave full. I wished they had taken out the potato chip nigiri and the noodle dish, because I would have preferred to receive more fish. The nigiri that was part of the courses was super small, and as I mentioned, while everything was good, I was not amazed. Still highly recommend if you've never experienced omakase before, only tip is to book at the bar seating bc you'll get the full experience that way.“
“My friend was hyping this place up so I decided to see if he spoke some truth to his statements. It didn't disappoint, but it didn't hit it out of the park either. Interior is very presentable. Clean and new. There are a lot of choices to pick from, but you get a limited quantity per category. You have their base, two base toppings, two scoops of protein, five toppings, two sauces (unfortunate), and then two sprinkles. The taste of the fish by itself is okay. Sauce is really good though. I was surprised at how much it was (about $3 more than what I'm used to paying) but their portions are very generous. I could not finish my bowl in one sitting when I always do. Hopefully the next time I come back, I'd find my go-to recipe!“
“Very good food. Pleasant and fast service. Very good value for money. The venue is quite ordinary and ok to sit there, but a little more stop in for an all-evening place.Parking: Even on a busy Saturday night it was easy to find street parkingKid-friendliness: Many dishes that were easy for children to like like edamame, nigri, sashimi. Also several highchairs.“
“Everything we tasted was delicious and very nicely prepared. Service is very attentive. Yes the price tag is on the higher side but for the quality you get, it is actually very reasonable. And I am speaking after having to try several omakase places in the area, including in San Francisco. Ambience is simple and understated. Highly recommend it.“
“The udon deluxe was good but the more I ate, the more salty it tasted. They also didn’t put a lot of meat in there. The creamy salmon udon was good. Takoyaki was just meh. Had too much mayo on it. Eggplant tempura was good just a little greasy. Atmosphere was very nice. Service was slow but it was because there was only one server working and she was really nice.“
“This place is SO GOOD! Some of the best sushi I've had in the area. HIGHLY recommend. Rolls are amazing and filling. We got (from left to right) the Honey Walnut roll, Baked California Roll, Monster Roll, Hot Momma roll, and Lion King. All were PHENOMENAL.Vegetarian options: They have a few different rolls without fish.Parking: Easy and free parking.“
“Absolutely the best sushi in South Bay. Their fish is so incredibly fresh and high quality that I don't bother with anything else. The Extra Special Nigiri Sushi is what I get almost every time.Parking: If the nearby parking lot is full, I usually park at the parking garage across Castro. It's a short walk away.“
“The food here is very good! They have so many different meat options to choose from, even if you do not eat pork or beef. The lamb and seafood are fresh. Stephen (Curry) was an awesome server and made sure we were always attended to and kept with new rounds of food on the table!“
“Came here for dinner on a Saturday night after some rock climbing. Luckily we put our name down right before a bunch of groups came and we got seated in a few minutes. Otherwise it was looking to be at least a 20 min wait. Ordering was through your phone. You also pay on your phone. Water is self serve. Food comes out on disposable plates. So turn around for tables can be pretty quick! They have their system nailed down. All the food came out quickly and it was all delicious. But oh my god the pork katsu. That first bite was heavenly and I will have to order it every single time! We all got a variety from karage to chicken katsu but the pork...always pork from now on. It was tender and just melted in my mouth. And the fry was perfectly crispy. I can't wait to come back!“
“Amazing ox tail udon. Very tender. I added a poached egg to it. Broth clean and not salty. We also had chicken karaage and fried whole squid, which was also tender and flavorful. If you are into udon, this is the place to get something that is different from the others. This place gets busy so it's a good idea to get there at opening.“
“THE SPOT for sushi in the peninsula. We walked in at 7pm on a Saturday, sat within 10 mins. Terrific goyza and the “mango secret” was the best veggie roll I’ve ever had.First drinks are free! Great service, incredible value. Sign me up! YUM.“
“What should I do in Japanese restaurant while some americans are talking too loud?In a situation where fellow diners are being too loud in a restaurant, it's generally best to handle it with tact and politeness. Here are a few steps you could consider:1. **Self-assessment**: First, check if their volume is indeed excessively loud or if it's a normal conversation level for a public place.[I put the earplug on to protect my hearing.]2. **Move Away**: If possible, ask the restaurant staff if you can move to a quieter table.[This is a small place.]3. **Communicate with the Staff**: If moving isn't an option, you might consider speaking to the restaurant staff or management. They are usually trained to handle such situations diplomatically.[Staff is busy and understaffed even for bringing dishes to the side of our desk.]4. **Direct but Polite Approach**: If you feel comfortable, you could approach the individuals directly. Do so politely and calmly, expressing that their conversation volume is a bit high and is disturbing your dining experience.[Some of them speaks Chinese but they just pretend to ignore our complaints. ]Remember, every situation is different and requires a judgement call. It's important to stay respectful and considerate in your approach.[I am wondering what else I can do to deal with this situation?]“
“Came here for Fremont Restaurant Week 2024, where SOHO was offering their regular tasting menu for $88/person. Absolutely delicious food, absolutely fantastic service, and absolutely glad to have more fine dining options in Fremont. The starting course had four morsels that we were instructed to eat clockwise starting with an oyster mignoette (slightly sweet and fizzy from the sparking wine in the shell), a hotate tartare, an aburi shiromi, and an uni toro toast. The came the first course of nigiri. The standout was the amberjack on the right that had an intense smokiness without tasting dense. The halibut steak was delicate, and the purée underneath was delicious, but having only chopsticks made is kinda difficult to really get at that purée...There was another course of nigiri comprised of two different tunas and a tamago cube. We added on an ootoro nigiri, as well. Everything was delicious, especially the ootoro that just melted on the tongue. The clam soup that followed pretty good, and the ube charlotte that followed was a solid end to the meal. Our server was fantastic, introducing every course clearly and compile putting up with our questions throughout the night.“
“Udon was delicious, beef was cooked well, sauces were yummyKid-friendliness: The setup is a little difficult for kids. It's kind of intended for one tray per person and fitting multiple bowls on a tray is a little hard, but they have plenty of high chairs and space to use them, so overall it's good.“
“Gotta love small places like this where the owner is on deck and takes pride in his restaurant. Value to price was awesome. Bunch of Stanford students drive out here probably for this reason. The lunch sashimi bento box was outstanding. Cheers and ty for having “
“I ordered takeout through Uber Eats from this place, so can't comment about the service and atmosphere of this place. I got the spicy dragon roll, gyoza and salmon teriyaki entree. The gyoza was standard and it was a slight let down because it wasn't warm, but that's completely on the Uber driver as he had to make a few deliveries on the way. The spicy dragon roll was disappointing, it wasn't spicy at all and the sushi roll's rice didn't appear spot on. The salmon teriyaki was standard and decent. However the miso soup was plain bad, too watery and lacking flavor.“
“Food and presentation was good. All the rice from my clay pot bowl was stuck to the bowl at the bottom and barely any rice. I couldnt even use my chopsticks to eat it nor hold the hot bowl. The sticky rice just stuck to the bowl...More veggies on top and some pickled, not my preference. At all. Other people's dishes were yummy. Saki was from a bottle and really sugary. I think between 4 people we went through 10 bottles over two hours because it was like shooting sugar water. Not my preference on that either. Too much for not much, if that makes sense! My friend took her husband the next day and they loved it. I will not be returning or taking my husband, not because anything was bad, but not our preference. Atmosphere was quiet and fun. We sat in the corner by a window. Very small inside and could get cramped if really busy. Was not busy when we went at lunchtime midweek. Staff was super attentive when we needed it and not when we were chatting. Which was great! Don't take my preference as a decision maker here, you might love it like my friend!Parking: We parallel parked right out front.Wheelchair accessibility: Might be a tight squeeze inside. Can access front with a wheelchair though.“
“Hidden gem amazing food reasonably priced great service!! I was blown away by the quality of the fish and overall presentation. It's a small restaurant that many locals were dining in and getting takeout from while we were there. I will definitely be going back next time we are in the area!!“
“this has become my family's go to sushi spot. service is really friendly, we're so regular now they pretty much know our order without asking. the sushi's fresh and delicious, and it's just a simple experience for when you need to scratch the sushi itch.Vegetarian options: there's a few things, but I wouldn't expect anything specialParking: it's in a medium size strip mall so there's usually plenty of spotsKid-friendliness: nothing overtly kid friendly, but also nothing kid prohibitiveWheelchair accessibility: plenty of tables with free standing chairs that could be moved to accommodate a wheelchair“
“And oh Really Cool. Each table has a tablet for ordering food. You can assemble the dishes, add or remove items from the dishes. Then the dishes arrive in a boiling pan and it cooks right in front of your eyes. Beyond that, the service was excellent, the waitress explained to us how it works and was available for any request. And most importantly, the food is delicious and not expensive.“
“Hard to find old school mom and pop Japanese food these days more so that serves proper katsu! Katsu curry brings me back growing up in Japan so nostalgic taste. I’m so glad I found this place.Parking: Small complex with limited parking spaces during normal business hours.“
“Love this place. Have been a loyal customer for many years. Unfortunately after COVID many places went up in prices and down in quality, luckily it’s not the case for this place! The food is fresh and tastes good, and the people are so nice, they truly care about their customers.“
“It’s our first time to explore the Japanese food around this area and saw the review of this place.Have to say, the food and service impressed us. We arrived around 2 which there was almost no one during new year eve, and the staff is very warm to bring us water first without asking. The menu is all very tempting, and we decided to order 3 rolls and 2 appetizers. The fish is fresh and the rolls are flavorful! The restaurant is very clean and wide as well.Strong recommendation on this spot!“
“You can easily book a table online or just give the restaurant a call. Our group of four made a seamless entrance on time thanks to the reservation. They've got a diverse menu with nearly everything covered. The'Unagi Omelette 鰻魚玉子燒,' 'Yamaimo Sengiri 山藥紫蘇', and the 'Mentaiko Pasta 明太子麵' are my favorite. The beef tongue and clam soup were also delicious. If you're into Japanese food with a local casual dining feel, this place comes highly recommended! Plus, they have private booths for a more intimate family or friend gathering.“
“California diaries・I keep coming here and eating delicious food!Delicious seafood, vegetables, and meat ?It's delicious? Here are the meal details! It's a sushi restaurant with a spacious space, a wonderful counter with the smell of wood, and a live performance that feels like a stage, where you can watch the craftsmen work right in front of you.Wood, concrete, pottery, glass...I liked the simple and relaxed feel of this shop♪They also give detailed explanations of the ingredients.Seasonal ingredients are incorporated throughout, giving you a sense of the season and a quality that makes you feel like you're in Tokyo!Tuna ? is aged for 14 days from Spain.Tonight's course is called sea urchin special.(I'm drunk, so I may have missed something)☑︎Yuzu pepper sesame tofu☑︎Mekabu☑︎Grilled firefly squid☑︎Boiledsushi☑︎Hokkaido scallops☑︎Sweet shrimp☑︎Striped horse mackerel☑︎Tuna☑︎Sumika sea urchin☑︎Medium Toro☑︎Lean meat☑︎Sea urchin seaweed☑︎Conger eel☑︎Ball☑︎Smoked cherry salmon finishSea urchin special☑︎Simmered sea urchin and eggplant☑︎Sea urchin x rice crackers☑︎Chawanmushi☑︎FutomakiEnd with matcha ?Originally.Extra editionFrom here, I decided to drink Kistler!☑︎Hotaru squid marinated in oki☑︎Semi-boiled salmon roe✔️Sake list☑︎Ohmine Yamadanishiki "2 Grain"☑︎Kurozaemon Junmai Daiginjo Nama Genshu☑︎Juyondai Junmai Muroka✔️Wine list☑︎DOM PÉRIGNON VINTAGE 2013☑︎Kistler Chardonnay Cuvee Cathleen2009I shared all the alcohol with the owner and everyone.Dom Peri 2013 has a clean, neutral flavor that goes well with sushi. Kistler is said to be the best Chardonnay in Napa, and is elegant with concentrated fruit flavor, fresh acidity, and minerality. It went well with sushi. I am proud that I was able to come up with a very fun pairing this time too. This wine is called a cult wine due to its popularity, low production volume, and difficulty in obtaining it! !Located in the Russian River Valley, Kistler’s Burgundian style Chardonnays have achieved a “Cult Chardonnay” status because of their traditional style and extraordinary, Grand Cru character.#winery trip #oyster trip #trip2024#cultwine“
“Very high quality fish with great portion sizes. I came here with a few friends and we were all very satisfied. I got the dinner combo with 2 orders of sashimi (16 pieces total) and the pieces were very big, fatty, and high quality. My friends got the sake don (also very high quality salmon) and the chicken katsu, which came with a mountain of chicken katsu and was great for the price. I will definitely be coming back as this is one of the best sushi restaurants I've been to in the bay area.“
“The namesake sushi, eighty-eight roll, was great and nicely presented with poke pieces on top. The regular rolls: spider, Philly, and Negihama had chewy seaweed (not a crispy bite) wrap and not as fun and tasty. The agedashi tofu was nice and the hot sake was generous. They were busy so they couldn't always check when we needed water or additional ginger to add flavor to sushi.“
“Terrific Japanese cuisine in an unassuming location. The sashimi is great, but my party found ourselves more impressed by some other dishes: grilled chicken and the eggplant curry were surprise hits. Explore the menu and be delighted — with flavor!Wheelchair accessibility: It's a little tight inside but zero steps at the door.“
“I have indulged in a late lunch at Tabu Shabu twice. The staff did a great job of describing the options and preparation process, after learning it was my first visit. They checked in several times to ensure things were going well and offered advice. There are a variety of protein options and the vegetables gave "farm to table vibes." The meat was high-quality and the ponzu dipping sauce was delicious.Parking: The parking directly in front of the restaurant is small and crowded.“
“A bit heavy on sauce/ seasoning with A5 wayu dinner plate. The nigiri premium is pretty good. Good place for casual dining. The decor in house is absolutely charming. However, one thing I'd like to mention is that I love the artwork carving out "Kyosho" on the wall with the light shining through it. However, I would recommend considering laser cutting for a cleaner finish, it is hard to unsee those rough edges when paying close attention to decor details.“
“I am not a big fan of udon but don't tell me I can't appreciate a good udon for what it is!! This place has a great variety of distinctively (being the operative word) different udon. I love the tonkatsu udon but the salmon spinach and uni udon are great too if you like seafood. You may also want to try their curry udon to compare it to the curry udon served at an international chain located nearby, which I find far inferior. As for sides, It is also a good idea to add their poached egg or "seasoned boiled egg" as that can make or break a meal. They provide shichimi spice at no additional cost which also makes the udon more flavorful imo.I am taking off one star because some of the appetizers I have tried before were average, especially the onigiri and the service can be a hit or miss.“
“On my birthday, I came here for a meal, and as soon as I entered the restaurant, I could smell the aroma of natural wood, creating a very comfortable atmosphere. Every dish was fresh, with many ingredients sourced from Japan. Particularly delightful was the fresh and sweet sea urchin imported from Japan. Each course provided both visual and gustatory enjoyment, and we had a delightful dining experience. Since it was my birthday, they even presented a beautiful plate with exquisite desserts – a thoughtful gesture that made the experience truly fantastic! It’s indeed a remarkable Kaiseki restaurant.“
“Quality of the food here is great and very authentic, though priced on the higher side. We enjoyed the sashimi and rolls. Atmosphere is very lively and the space seems best for smaller parties. It usually gets very busy during peak hours, so it's recommended to coming early to avoid waiting longer. Parking can be tough in the plaza lot but it's usually ok.“
“This sushi restaurant is the BEST! The food is so good and the service is perfect. Me and my family order takeaway every week and it never disappoints. I highly recommend Bay Sushi for all the sushi lovers (they have MANY options for those who don't eat sushi) on Thursdays and Friday the place is pretty packed but somehow they always have one table left, and if not you wait for only 5-10 minutes, but its 100% worth it!! We love this restaurant and hope you will too!“
“The Beef Rib Udon at Hanabi Sushi is a must-try! The broth is rich and flavorful, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and the beef ribs are incredibly tender. The portions are generous and the service is always friendly. This has become my go-to spot for a satisfying and delicious meal!“
“Love this gem of a place I just discovered. Very good Agedashi Tofu. If you have seen my reviews before you will realize that’s one of the ways I judge quality. Second, the Snapper nigiri was incredible. Best I have ever had. Tender, flavorful perfect. They were out of Hirame so I will have to return. And finally the Blue Fin Toro was incredible. It was my last bite and I know I will be back for more of everything. Very local and superb no-frills ambiance, unassuming and priced well. Foodies converge!“
“Decent spot but would recommend having few people to share the dishes with so you can try more things. They have a good selection of items to pick from. The pizza crust was very tasty but it lack fillings. Claypot was a decent size but the pork was a bit too tender. We also got the beef rolls but we didn’t enjoy it as much as it was very overcooked and had a weird texture.“
“Excellent food and service! Variety of raw, steamed, grilled dishes and the waygu sukiyaki was excellent. The neighboring table was noisy. Foreigners who speak loudly in an otherwise quiet setting. Otherwise the atmosphere was great. Will come back again.“
“Favorite hot plate place. The curry beef rice with cheese is really good. You can add more seasoning and spice if you'd like. Sometimes there's a wait for a table but they give you your food pretty quick once you've ordered. The fries are good if you eat them right away.“
“I was there with my family last Monday(2/12/24) around 3 pm. The servers name I do not remember but I would like to write this review for her, after I accidentally spilled a cup of water she was quick to help us out to clean the table and moved us to another table and assisted with transferring everything for us. She was very welcoming and with great customer service and attentiveness. The food was 10/10, and being a new resident to Fremont, we found our go-to sushi spot. I can't wait to go back.“
“The spicy edamame garlic was a but of a disappointment, not spicy and very sticky. The spicy chicken karage was not your typical crunchy chicken, the texture was more like a chicken's general type of meal. Everything else was pretty good including the 49ers roll. We were able to sit instantly, no wait on a Friday night. The waitress really did rush us through the meal though.“
“I had a delicious lunch from here with my boyfriend! We enjoyed all the food we bought. Fugetsu always has fresh, flavorful Japanese food that is super portable and conveniently packaged to take to-go. I'd highly recommend getting food here for a picnic! * Tuna and Salmon Box Sushi: 5/5 Fish tasted so fresh and high quality! The rice underneath was the perfect soft, fluffy texture and nicely seasoned. This box comes with a LOT of masago, which is a plus! It added a pleasant salty, briny flavor to an otherwise very simple dish. $15 for this is a great price considering it's a generous portion of rice and fish! * Takoyaki: 5/5 One of the best I've tried outside of Japan. Soft without being mushy, and very flavorful. If I had to nitpick, I would prefer more bonito flakes on top. * Cold Mentai Pasta (mini size): 5/5 Perfectly cooked pasta with a lightly creamy flavor. Not too heavy or salty. This would be a perfect side dish for a picnic or lunch to-go! Service was quick and friendly. I'll definitely be back soon to try their many other options!“
“We came here for our family Easter lunch and glad that we were seated right away. We opted the table with stone grill for yakiniko, since we can also order sushi there if we want to. We opted for the Omakase Stone Grill Meat for 2-4 persons. It came with wagyu beefs, toro, short rib galbis, prawns, squids, pork belly cuts and sausages. The set also came with wagyu beef clay pot rice. We also ordered miso soups and ahi poke salad for starters. I think the portions were generous and the food tasted great. Clay pot rice was mom’s favorite, though it wasn’t served in a clay pot so no crispy rice on the bottom like I was expecting. Our server was very nice and attentive without being disruptive. Definitely would go back again. However, a constructive criticism for the management. Pls keep your floors and bathroom clean at all times. It was just 12 noon and floor was filthy and bathroom smelled like puke. These are what customers usually notice and will judge the cleanliness of the entire restaurant!“
“Superb dining experience! Wonderful presentation for all of the dishes, and all the sushi, beef, and sashimi was fresh and well prepared. Excellent selection of sake, along with a very attentive staff that took care of every little detail. Can’t wait to go back for another meal soon!“
