“Came here for drinks and appetizers. Amazing crispy catfish salad (so bright, balanced, savory, herbaceous) and the mak grut (keffir lime leaf) cocktail was one of the best cocktails I’ve ever tasted—complex, fragrant, refreshing and just delicious. As a person with Thai ancestry who is picky about his Thai food, I definitely recommend this place for a creative spin on Thai food that still respects the proper balance of flavor, at very least based on the two things I tasted!Great service and atmosphere as well. Can’t wait to come back and have a full meal.“
“Had lunch with 2 of my girlfriends on a weekday and we were seated immediately. It was all of our first time there, and we loved it. We will be back to try more! Let's get into it:Menu: We came during lunch so we had the lunch menu as well as the Restaurant Week fixed menu. We didn't opt for it because we wanted to try some other items but we heavily considered it. The regular lunch menu was great - 1 page and yet had many options for us. The back listed several great looking drink options.Appetizers: Everything we ordered was extremely flavorful. We ordered the Salmon Salpicon and Bruselas El Prado to share. The salmon dish was so good and rich. We wish it came with just a few more more plantain crisps but that's our preference. We said we'd come back for that and drinks alone...unless we got the rest of our dishes. The Brussel sprouts were so well flavored and perfectly charred and crispy. I would eat that on it's own.Main Dishes: We order 3 dishes including: Arepa con Queso, Colombian Chorizo Hotdog, and Posta Negra Sando. I had the Arepa and it was a wonderful vegetarian arepa dish filled with a mix of root veggies, cauliflower and broccoli all topped with an egg. So filling. Highly recommend. I don't eat meat so I didn't eat the other dishes but my friends were not disappointed.Service: The servers were great. Very genuine interactions. They checked in on us periodically and were never far if we needed something.Ambiance: The place itself was beautifully decorated. I wish I took pictures of the inside of the restaurant.Overall, a wonderful treat to experience with friends. Treat yourself to this place! We'll be back to try more food and check out their dinner menu.Dietary restrictions: Menu states this is a gluten free kitchen. Dishes also marked as DF (dairy free), VG (vegan), VEG (vegetarian) where applicable.“
“The best place we've eaten at in alameda! My mom said her eggplant was crispy and very well seasoned. The burger had bacon mixed it-and you could actually taste the bacon! The foccacia was amazing! Wish it came with a little more bread! Bar tender Mike was the best!“
“We kind of ended up here on a fluke and with empty stomachs. We weren't into the experience just wanted the food. Our server, Toni, was accommodating about all of our reasonable ( and less reasonable) requests. We sat in a corner quite close to our neighbors but it wasn't too bad. The sound quality in their space makes it so you don't get bombarded but a lot of loud clanging. It's pretty upscale and the food is Michelin level amazing but also has a chill vibe.Goes without saying, we will certainly be back.Vegetarian options: The veggie options are just as amazing as the non. They are also good about accommodating veggie diets in any part of the menu.We got the peshe- Chilean Sea Bass which was so on point. As we are pescaterian“
“The food was 10/10, everything we ordered was excellent, and was brought to us by the chef himself, who was gregarious and kind. Service was impeccable, our waiter was available but in no way intrusive. Ambience was on point and unique. Will definitely be returning to Bardo!“
“This was a celebration of International Women's Day for a group of close neighbors, some of whom had not experienced Corso before. The hostess greeting was perfection, as was Vito, our server, Michael our expeditor, and the food was superb❣️ The perfect evening for gratitude to our Women!“
“Dropped by with the whole family. I've been going here for years. The service and food has always been good. Can't go wrong here with the food and cocktails. Will be back again for sure.Parking: There was plenty of parking at south shore center“
“I've only been there hella early in the a.m.; it's been tight every time. I bought some of their grounds, hella good. Their donuts smack. There's a skeleton that waves at you above the entrance, he's my homie. Ha.Parking: Street parking and residential parking near. Again, I've only been at the top of the morn so there's parking when I've visited.Kid-friendliness: He?? yeah.Wheelchair accessibility: Ngl I'll update this portion but if I remember correctly there's a ramp to the left of the building that can be used.“
“Fun bar with great food. Cocktails are unique and full of flavor. The staff are quick. Parking available in a parking garage near by or street parking. Good place to come with groups 4 or less. I went by myself and loved the experience. This is a place I would return to for a good drink and food. Be aware the food menu is limited but all of the options sound delicious.“
“A must visit every time I’m in Oakland.Stopped by before a concert at the Fox on a Monday night. There were lots of open seats, love their back patio. They have heaters but it was warm enough without them. We ordered at the bar and our drinks and food were brought to our table. The happy hour (5-7 pm) cocktail was a mezcal spritz ($7), it was the perfect refreshing yet smoky cocktail for a warm night in the bay.I love the menu here, we shared the radishes w/ aioli and added sardines. Love the way the radishes were served with the stems on, we felt like bunnies ?. We also shared the melon and prosciutto which is a MUST have. The chili oil on it was perfect. They were out of the carrot cake ?, but settled for some popcorn and the beer + mezcal coffee shot happy hour drink ($7) for dessert. This space also has books, cards, and crayons to draw on the table cloth. A great spot to check out in Oakland, worth making a trip from the city!“
“We got the cheeseburger, cheese steak, fries, and corn fritters. I really didn't expect everything to taste THIS good but I was so pleasantly surprised!! Everything was so tasty and the drinks were even better!!! I LOVED the house made ranch and put that on everything. The owner and staff were also super kind - will def be coming back. They have odd hours so it's hard to catch when they're open but definitely worth it.“
“Fave bar in Oakland. Adventurous, ever-evolving cocktail menu. Food is affordable and delicious (didn’t know tater tots could be deep fried with such precision, lol).NO tv screens! Ambiance is “cool, cozy, librarian” and vinyl selection is deeeep.“
“I had to turn "the page" to 3411. The cooks outside are good with the amazing fish tacos ? on Tuesdays along with other great appetizers that go excellent with cocktails or cold beer. Lil smooth the dj has just about every song you can sing. Family, food, fun and entertainment.“
“Food: 5/5Service: 5/5Price: 4/5Atmosphere: 5/5 This is still one of my absolute favorite spots in Berkeley. The food is always consistently delicious and the service is great. The ambiance is relaxing and chill. The prices are a bit higher than most restaurants, but the quality of the food is worth it in my opinion.“
“Third year in a row for Miracle on Telegraph. It's always a blast! The bartenders get into character and pours lots of delicious holidays drinks. This year my favorite was Rudolph's Replacement (it was like a coffee cocktail) hope they keep this tradition going for years to“
“A pizza is not just a pizza at this restaurant. It's very different and very good. They call it a pinsa... cloud like pizza. Their description is accurate. It's crispy outside and soft inside... and delicious. We ordered 2 pinsas. One has the same name as the restaurant and was soooooo good, very tasty. We enjoyed both. Their octopus appetizer was one of the best I've ever eaten. Simple preparation that allowed the quality ingredients to shine. The octopus was fresh and tender... not chewy. My spouse loved the grilled exterior of the octopus. I was sorry we did not order 2 of them. Salome our server was wonderful. Her suggestions about the food and wine were spot on. Her only mistake was not suggesting that I order my own octopus appetizer... Still we hope she is our server when we return. Our next time will be for dinner in order to enjoy their full menu.“
“Excellent service all around, starting with prompt responses to my questions over text message, to a warm welcome when we arrived and attentive service from all the staff throughout our dining experience. All the dishes we ordered were amazing; from the raw and grilled oysters, salads, to the sandwiches/entrees and hand crafted cocktails/drinks, everything was delicious. What a gem in this neighborhood! Definitely recommend, especially if you are celebrating a special occasion. We had such a great time for my birthday.“
“Not too impressed with the cocktail I got a Toki highball, not much to say it was flat no flavor. Had appetizer's only, the fries and chicharrones. Great value, well done and for the chicharrones a unique way to serve them with salsa. Needs more salsa. The place is a bit loud, low lighting as well. Staff was great.“
“It's a full bar and restaurant with serving brunch too. Has indoor and limited outdoor seatings. Inside is well decorated and clean. Tables are large and overall roomy place.Waiters are responsive and polite.Great for group, events, meetup, kids and accessible. Prices are reasonable wrt food quality. Will come back again.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to enter and room to easily maneuver“
“Best wings in the East Bay! Stopped in to visit my friend in Oakland and was pleasantly surprised. The Korean fried wings are hand breaded, tender, and nothing short of amazing. Looking for some heat though Catfish bites were absolutely perfect The cocktail list rivals any fancy rooftop in San Francisco Plenty of room to accommodate large groups. Conveniently located close to the convention center. Stop in to see Mikey or Paul during happy hour“
“What an awesome bar! Where else downtown can you stroll across a floor covered in soft sand, be greeted by friendly staff, and enjoy a refreshing cocktail that refreshes you like a tropical beach? Definitely check this place out, and be sure to try the Yay Breeze!“
“Ok so first, the food was absolutely DELICIOUS, AMAZING, TERRIFIC, and so much more. Second, once you have ordered your food it will come in 15 or less minutes! Third, once you come into the restaurant, (you may have to wait in a line) the hostess will ask you for your name and phone number, if you want to be seated outside or inside, and how long the wait time is (about 20 minutes). Lastly, you should definitely consider coming to Jack's if you're feeling hungry! (They serve breakfast until 2:00pm and lunch all day.) PS you HAVE to try the Mac and cheese!Vegetarian options: You could get the omelet (which is very good) if you are looking for something that is for vegetarians.Kid-friendliness: The hostess would ask you if you want a kid(s) menus. Plenty of options on the kids menu.“
“We ordered tacos at the taco truck in the parking lot and quickly found shelter from the rain inside Hotsy Totsy. Wow, what a vibe inside. My partner says, "I didn't know places like this still exist." The drinks are strong, reasonably priced, and the vibes are immaculate. I would 10/10 return.“
“$5 parking in guarded lot a half block away due to street bipping. So sad we have come to this. Ordered vegan burrito and it was a ten. Covered outdoor tables. My friend had a different Mexican dish that they made a vegan version. All delicious and service was attentive.“
“This was my first time to this restaurant, but I was not disappointed. I have significant food allergies, but I was able to make slight adjustments without any problem, and without any annoyance by our waitress. I had the beet salad and the deviled eggs, and both were delicious. I thought the pricing was fair and a good value for what was served. My salad proportion wise was very large. I would definitely go back if I am in the area.“
“I can't say enough good things about Low Bar! I hosted a holiday party here last night for a local professional organization, and Low Bar was the perfect venue. The staff are so thoughtful, organized, and attentive, and the food is fantastic. Low Bar is really the place to be if you want fun, casual vibes but high quality food. Their private room was perfect for a 30-person event. The price was reasonable for the high quality of food, cocktails, and service. Our guests ranged from graduate students to retirees, and folks from all walks of life remarked on how much they loved the location.Justin was our server, and he was the dream to work with. Friendly, professional, attentive-- he really made the party a success. I felt like I could just show up and Justin and the Low Bar would make everything run well.Their event manager Sam was also a joy to work with and made everything so easy. The location is perfect for public transit accessibility, and there is a parking lot across the street.Don't sleep on the churrros! The food here is amazing.“
“We ordered the spicy chicken wings, the fried fish and a noodle dish. All were very good. My only complaint was that the fish didn't have more meat on it, since we were sharing. But for one person it would be fine. Very friendly service and a nice atmosphere as wellParking: We went during the super bowl so it was relatively easy to find street parking, but it would be difficult on a normal night“
“We had dinner there tonight (3/14/24) for the first time and we will be back. They are two of the most interesting and truly delicious sandwiches we have ever eaten. I can't remember what mine was called, but it had chicken (roasted perfectly), sauerkraut, cheese and other awesome stuff on a grilled rye bread that was excellent. My bride had the turkey sandwich and loved it. But the star of the show were the Tater Tots. Perfectly crisp with BBQ sauce to dip them in and then into some wonderful real bacon bits. Every tot stayed crisp from the first to the last. The meal was worth every penny and more. Get into the Alameda location and try it. You won't be sorry. PS: The only bad part for me is that we live in Seattle and won't be back down until May. But you can bet I will be eating here then.“
“Found this place on Yelp and decide to try it out on a Friday night with my girls. The inside is very cute and has a good time. Their drink menu is small which I think is good as too many drink options can be overwhelming. The place was pretty full, but we were able to find a seat at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and made our drinks really quickly which was great. I had the Taloma and ale Grand Fizz and I definitely loved the Taloma a lot more. The place did have a $10 cover charge later on in the night which I believe included access to a social club next door as well and extended the hours till 1:30am/2am. The place did get a bit loud towards the end of the night so I might be returning a bit earlier on a weekend or stop by during the week next time. All in all I did like the bar and will be returning.“
“Went to brunch at this place a few days ago. It offers a good price, to quality/quantity ratio for breakfast and lunch. We sat outside on a partly sunny day, and they allowed us to have our dogs by the table.Mimosas were good, and I had the French toast while others in my party had the Alameda and classic eggs Benedict. Everything was very well executed if somewhat unadventurous. This is the type of place I would take my parents to who want a comfortable experience, quality and straight forward menu“
“Went for a cute little Tuesday evening dinner with my wife. First impressions: WOW ? We already felt so welcome after seeing the pride flag in the door but all the plants inside really made it feel like home.We ordered some cocktails (the Golden State of Mind was delightful!) the pork adobo and the lechon kawali -- it was my first time trying Filipino food and i. Am. Hooked!!Ended the meal with some halo halo, which we highly recommend“
“Offering a slight update on Ethiopian classics, Mela Bistro is an excellent option for healthy and flavor-forward meat and vegetable based stews. The housemade fermented injera unique in its fluffy airiness, leaving one still feeling light by the end of a meal.A tasteful interior and very friendly service make for a great date spot.“
“One of the best establishments in Berkeley. In a city that's always busy, I felt instantly comfortable and welcomed by the warm and hospitible staff. Shilo, Felix, and Chloe went above and beyond to ensure that my experience was nothing short of fantastic. Their attention to detail and dedication to providing top-notch service truly sets Tipsea apart. Not only were the staff exceptional, but the drinks were also of the highest quality. Each sip was a delight, expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. Whether it was a classic cocktail or a specialty creation, Tipsea's drinks never failed to impress. Thanks to Shilo, Felix, and Chloe for making my visit unforgettable. I'll definitely be returning soon!“
“Pretty good restaurant in Walnut Creek for some classic Italian dishes. The dining space is clean and gives more of an open family feeling to the place. They do also have a nice bar by the front that is kind of separated from the rest of the dining area. The drinks are a little hit or miss here, though. They do skimp on thr alcohol a little bit here, so make sure you order a more liquor-heavy drink or stick with their selection of wines. The food is great and really delicious. There was nothing that our table did not enjoy eating. They do have changing specials, and I highly recommend trying them. The desserts were also very good. Make sure to try their tiramisu since they do give a good portion of it. Overall a great place to take a date or the family.Dietary restrictions: They are able to serve gluten-free pasta upon request.Parking: There are plenty of parking garages if you want to spend money. Not that much free street parking around, though.Kid-friendliness: Good place to take kids for a nice meal with the family.“
“great bar! it's inside the Tipsy Putt kinda like a speakeasy thing. the hot bartender named Candy made me the best banana cocktail I've ever had. ordered some nachos from the kitchen, so tasty. but that bartender Candy was the highlight, such great service, amazing drinks. i spent so much money, totally worth and will do again.“
“My partner and I are in town for a funeral and we had to kill a little time between our vrbo check out time and our flight home, so my partner found a place for us to get some food and a drink or six. ?Luckily for us, they found The Fat Lady and it was SUCH a wonderful experience! Our server, Elizabeth, was so incredibly delightful and helpful. She made great recommendations and didn’t hesitate to tell us that she wouldn’t mind if we had to camp out for a couple hours, or more, despite our profuse apologies. And that’s not to mention that she was incredibly fun/funny, and dare I say she was a bit cheeky (?) but in a safe and super respectful way. Not only that, she made our dining experience even better than it otherwise would have been - coming and going with the flow you just instantly know is a true mark of high intelligence and skill in the profession. Now, the food. Gawd. The food was so tasty.I very much enjoyed the oysters, that came with lemons, real horseradish, and garlic butter. And I had the Atlantic salmon fillet as my main. My partner had the French onion soup and a baked potato that they found to be delicious on a cloudy/drizzly Bay Area day. As for the drinks… We very much enjoyed the Bees Knees and Cupid’s Arrow cocktail, as we did a spicy mezcal cocktail that Elizabeth suggested for us.By the way, the ambience and atmosphere is absolutely fantastic. It’s almost like being in your kooky rich aunt’s mansion, it’s incredibly ornate and beautiful inside, with art and curtains and lamps. I was in a seat where I could see a stained glass window featuring a rose pattern, making it that much more special.Needless to say, after our time at The Fat Lady, we’re both adequately prepared and smiling before our flight home after a handful of difficult days. Thanks for your hospitality and patience with us, Elizabeth & Staff. Hope to see you again, someday soon. “
“I am an out of towner and was looking for a place to catch the Eagles game. Some friends told me about this bar so I gave it a shot. George & Walt's is in a great are and the place was very diverse. There were plenty of TVs airing all sorts of games and pool tables. The bar is cash only (set to change soon) with tons of drinks specials. The bartenders were friendly and quick to check in. I was happy to have so many food options at this dive like bar. Everything came out delicious and the service was incredible!“
“Wow, this bar felt quite hidden away from the world behind gray doors despite being on a busy commercial stretch of Lakeshore. There was a cat sign, but Jamie W. and I kept missing it as we strolled back and forth just before it opened at 4PM. When we finally entered, it was a stylish space but overly so with vintage accents producing the requisite chill atmosphere. Let me be honest though. We came for the craft cocktails we saw on their website, and Keenan was the cool bartender who was there to make them for us. I tried the $14 Dear Irene, a blended Pina Colada riff with gin, coconut, ginger, mint, cane, and lime. A lovely libation. Jamie had the $14 Blue Meanie which had a more tantalizing tropical taste. It had a nice kick consisting of eight-year-old Haitian & Banana Rum, Giffard Coconut, lime, and blue curaçao (photo: So satisfying that we had another round. I went with the $14 E&E, a vibrant mix of tequila, mezcal, lime, cilantro, pineapple, and jalapeño over rocks. It was like a short margarita. Jamie tried the $14 Mata Hari, which sounds more mysterious than it was. It left out tequila and mixed mezcal, amaro nardini, lime, and tamarind syrup into a saucy, south-of-the-border libation (photo: While Dear Irene was the definitive standout, all the cocktails provided a nice symphony of compatible flavors. Otherwise I was just drunk. Either way, it made for a satisfying visit at this hidden hideaway close to Lake Merritt. COCKTAILS - 4 stars..,well tested libations with the Dear Irene a standout AMBIANCE - 4 stars...stylish, vintage space with a large enough bar at an inconspicuous address SERVICE - 4 stars...Keenan is a very helpful bartender TOTAL - 4 stars...a chill hangout on Lakeshore RELATED - Exploring Oakland? Here's a collection of places I've patronized and reviewed:“
“great place. friendly staff, great and quality drinks, and great and quality food. only downsides, not the biggest place and easy to miss if you're driving by. also, small place so you may leave smelling of fried food. guac and chips, nice. avocados super fresh queso and chips, fire. haven't had queso this good in I dunno how long shrimp with asparagus with rice, bold flavors. very savory dish, recommended if you want garlic, saucy, and shrimp. overall, highly recommended and would frequent often if I'm in the area.“
“Can't believe I didn't discover this place sooner! Been living in Berkeley for over a year and stopped by tonight for the first time. Had the most delectable samosas - what an explosion of flavor. The sauces were divine. And the cucumber cocktail had the perfect balance of sweet & spice. What a gem of a spot!!“
“My friend and I visited Addis Ethiopian Restaurant on Friday, 2/9/24, for an early dinner. We decided to order the Kategna as the appetizer. It was crispy and delicious. For the main course, we got the Meat Combination Platter for Two. It came with 3 Ethiopian meat specialties such as the Doro Wot, Sega Wot, and Sega Alicha along with Injera, Ayib, Boiled Eggs, and a mini Salad. All of the meats were beyond flavorful and bold in taste. My friend and I finished the entire platter feeling full and satisfied. For the drink, I had a glass of Ethiopian Honey Wine. It was sweet and I enjoyed it very much. Everyone inside the restaurant was pleasant. The customer service was attentive and lovely. The indoor ambiance was decorated nicely with flowers and candles at each table. Overall, Addis Ethiopian Restaurant is a great spot to satisfy Ethiopian food cravings. I recommend coming here.“
“This is a go-to place for business lunches in downtown. On my last visit I had a vegetarian pie and for some reason I was told it's not on the menu this time. I ended up having a salad which was very tasty. I hope this place brings back the vegetarian pie so that vegetarians can give company to the rest of the crowd.“
“Very pretty drinks, the taste was ok but not exceptional. The appetizers were good, though I wouldn't order the pork chop again. I'm assuming it was ok, but the texture seemed off and I kept worrying it wasn't well done enough.“
“This was my first time there and I absolutely loved the food. We sat at the bar on a Friday night for dinner and there was a happy hour until 8:00. We ordered two appetizers and two entrees and put them between the two of us. There was so much food we had to take the leftovers home. I can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu! I give it ?????“
“Stamp your boarding passes. Travel to the cabin in the woods to the Hawaiian inspired patio or lido deck. You can enjoy a ‘snake bite’ asked a created by the bartender with care and in good company. This local watering hole is more than one would expect on the path along the bay.“
“A Great place to enjoy good drinks and great people.Darts & pool available.Sports games on many TVs.Local business with awesome owners & hosts / bartenders.A good time can be had by all.Outside patio for more space, food trucks visit often for munching out.“
“I love this little bar, it's hidden on the side of some corporate building but has such cozy vibes. I wish I knew of it sooner. I got 2 cocktails although not gonna lie I can't remember the names but they were both super tasty. Everyone in my group loved their drinks. The bartender was so friendly too. We also got their empanadas and honestly kind of fire. It was the perfect after work drink type of bar.“
“The Afternoon tea on a Tuesday is a Berkeley hidden gem. A three tier stand of sweet and savory tea treats with a teapot of loose leaf tea is presented with warmth by the long-time staff. They treated my daughter who turned 21 with kindness and generosity and it was a lovely, relaxed afternoon. It's also a fraction of the price of other tea establishments. Highly recommend.“
“We've been to Wisegirl twice and had great food both times. We sit in their open "alcove" next to the actual restaurant, which works great for us -- with one exception. Both times, when our food came, we still had no table settings. We had to wait, and in one visit, had to ask twice. They need to bring table settings when they seat you or take your order.“
“This is my all time favorite restaurant. I've been coming to the Casa since I was 21 years old, im 70ish now. Food is always great, never a bad one. Try to get there at lease once a week. The hostess are so wonderful, call you by name. All around the best!“
