“To start off, I’ve never had Haitian food and didn’t know what to expect. After going to T’Chaka for lunch, I’m pleasantly surprised. Glad that I got a taste of Haiti. Food, service, ambiance, and decor is amazing.T’Chaka is located next to Swan’s Market in Old Oakland. Outside - there’s a colorful bright yellow sign with potted palm plants so place is hard to miss.Server was extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating.Decor and ambiance - very colorful and vibrant. Haitian flag stood out to me. A lot going on with the paintings, fish tank, vases, wall fixtures, etc. Definitely feels like you’re walking into a local mom and pop restaurant that will serve authentic cuisine. A bit pricey - around $20 for each entree but the quality and time spent makes it worth.Unfortunately, I am pescatarian so I was unable to try the Oxtails, Jerk Chicken, or Griot. What a tragedy. But my co-worker said Oxtails were flavorful and delicious, went well with the fixings. She finished the whole plate and cleaned the bones off!Shrimp salad itself was flavorful - with passionfruit dressing. They also did not skimp on the shrimp - HUGE PLUS. As exotic as the dish sounds, the flavors went well together. Shrimp was well seasoned with a tangy, sweet, yet savory flavor. The passionfruit dressing itself was light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. Nice palette of flavors, definitely Caribbean-esque.Cocktails and dinner: I would especially recommend coming for their dinner menu or Saturday special and drinks. Cocktails looked very intriguing and would go well with menu offerings.I would definitely recommend this place. Haitian food is super underrated! Take advantage of going during Restaurant Week!“
“Visited this nice little place on Webster Street on a cold and rainy Friday night. The owner was very welcoming and service attentive. We ordered the Spicy Papaya Salad as an appetizer and 4 mains: Sngor Thhrourk (seafood soup), Spicy Tofu with Lemongrass, Minty Noodles with BBQ Pork, and Singapore Noodles. All of it was fresh, hot and very delicious. It's a good amount of food for the dollar so we all left with extra for lunch the next day. Great spot, good eats, friendly people. Recommended.“
“So, to begin with. When you see the place from a street, it is not the first choice to swing by, yet when you peek through the window, you'll see an open kitchen with food being cooked nonstop, a hood sign.Inside the place seems a bit crowded, yet you could probably squeeze 8n at the bar if you ask nicely even if you don't have reservation :)And now the food, fantastic italian cusine - the pasta is appropriately aldente, tomato sauce is fantastic, the beef carpaccio blows you away. And in the end you feel guilty if you miss the dessert.I would definitely recommend making a reservation and arrive hungry.Parking in a garage nearby is plenty.“
“Food: 5/5Service: 5/5Price: 4/5Atmosphere: 5/5 This is still one of my absolute favorite spots in Berkeley. The food is always consistently delicious and the service is great. The ambiance is relaxing and chill. The prices are a bit higher than most restaurants, but the quality of the food is worth it in my opinion.“
“Ordered the katsu & garlic rice. Great customer service on the phone. They were very kind and patient with order taking and giving good directions. Katsu was some of the highest quality I've had in a while. Super thin crispy breading with white meat chicken. Very delicious and the garlic rice paired well. Good flavor and cooked to perfection. Fire“
“We had the Doro Tibs, Beg Alicha, Azifa, and Vegetarian sampler. The injera fermented bread was amazing!! The food was excellent, service was great, and the servers were very friendly and fast. Multiple spice levels are available (the normal options are not very spicy for those with lower tolerance). Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Highly recommend to anyone!“
“Very tasty crawfish étouffée, shrimp creole (both pleasantly but not excessively spicy), and voodoo shrimp (unlike what you might expect from the name, this is savory but not spicy, great for our low-spice companion). Nice service. Laid-back casual atmosphere with live music, but not too loud to talk easily.“
“Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, though expect small portions. The service was exceptional too, but I especially wanted to write a review because the bathroom was so amazing! At the end of the night it was still sparkling clean, and it has a bidet (!), free sanitary products (!!), and a hilarious & adorable toilet paper dispenser that made me laugh out loud. If you're a foodie or you want a fun, quirky place to share a drink and snack with a friend, definitely add Snail Bar to your list.“
“Beautiful decor of clean modern lines with a Corporate kind of feel. Cloth napkins though & friendly informed staff. We started with a firecracker salmon roll & then enjoyed our mains . The roll was ok but the bowls were truly tasty. I had the Latin chimichurri bowl with a grilled yellowtail cooked perfectly. Topped with a delicious chimichurri sauce. It was served on a salad dressed nicely. I enjoyed everything in my bowl ,Hubby got the Japanese Wasabi bowl. Very good. We both opted for the regular Size which was a little large but we finished most of it. In hindsight we would share a regular size but double the protein which they will add more or different kinds to the bowl for extra. The coffee was served French press style which was a wonderful surprise & quite tasty. All in all would we go back yes. The service was attentive & friendly. All the food was fresh clean and yummy. 5 stars“
“I've been in DT Oakland for the past decade or so for a conference every year, and my friend recommended this spot. I'm glad to finally check this out. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking, usually metered parking. Seating: Great for groups. Room for about 70 people with good groups for 5 or more. Vibes: Welcome to Downtown Oakland. You're close to a lot of other good eatery spots, historical monuments, and other pleasant sightseeing places. The place itself is nothing too flashy. It's a grit and grind area, but they are unapologetically proud of their social recognitions. There's nice pop music in the background. Great place for a food adventure or family/groups. FOOD: Deluxe Combination Chow Mein (Recommend) This is a wonderful medley of beef, bok choy, bean sprouts, onions and chicken with their hand-cut signature noodles. The noodles were truly one of a kind, from their appearance to their soft/chewy texture and nutty flavor. The sauce was reasonably mixed around, which made it pretty savory. Be sure to ask for some hot sauce! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Ordered for pick up and they were prepared! TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Fantastic! Good food, reasonable prices, and a calming experience. Yes there are lot of food choices here but their noodles really do stand out. I appreciate the delicious food and their hard work. Wishing the best to Charles Hung, family, and team on their business! TIPS: * Too many choices! Bring a friend or two to mix and match * Top 25 noodle places in San Diego!“
“Low-key best Nepalese restaurant in the East Bay. Excellent meat and veg entrees, very reasonable prices, even in 2023. They have a great thali dinner selection, when thalis (or any combo really) are becoming an endangered species around here.“
“Very pretty drinks, the taste was ok but not exceptional. The appetizers were good, though I wouldn't order the pork chop again. I'm assuming it was ok, but the texture seemed off and I kept worrying it wasn't well done enough.“
“Best suishi on the island! The kaisin don was excellant. The quality and variety of fish does not disappoint. Sea bream, halibut, uni, golden eye snapper and don't miss out, try the wagyu nigiri! Service is wonderful. I spent $75 for dinner, but I can eat alot of fish. You can definitely get out the door cheaper and still well fed.“
“This restaurant is located in a place with three other businesses. It's like a market or something. There's two bars, an ice cream parlor and a pizza place I believe. They have an outdoor seating area as well in the back. First off, everyone is extremely friendly. Helpful in recommending food and drinks. I was with some friends so we got a few different things. For me, the Lobster Roll was the highlight. Was delicious and fresh tasting. Came on a brioche bun that was soft and yummy. Also came with a side of seasoned chips. The clam chowder bread bowls were good and the oysters were good but a few had little pieces of shell in them. The drinks were really good too. I ordered Manhattans. It's all very pricey though so be ready to spend some dough. I'd come here again for sure.“
“As an Indian who is often skeptical of the restaurants around the Bay, I was quite impressed by this.Good value for money, overall good flavor (not too whitewashed lol), great service, nice ambiance.Wish the best to this restaurant and hope they include more South Indian dishes in the future!“
“Came here with an old friend, we ended up staying for three hours, and we're the last to leave with a large margin. What kept us so long was the great food, the excellent service, and an atmosphere that invites long discussions.Everything on the menu looked so good, and made it hard to pick. I decided to go for scallops on risotto, and finish with a variation on New York Cheesecake. OMG, it was all soooo good. Will be back soon!“
“If you ready for a fingerlicious experience,You need to come here!!Parking: Is behind the building , a lots of spaces but a bit difficult to get inKid-friendliness: Outdoor and clean space so kids can be kidsWheelchair accessibility: Access big on the street side is plenty of room ?“
“Oke Poke in Walnut Creek is the bomb! Seriously, if you're into poke bowls, this place rocks. The vibe is chill, the staff are cool, and the food? It's top-notch.They've got everything you need for the perfect poke bowl – fresh fish, loads of toppings, and killer sauces. Plus, you can build your own bowl, so it's totally customized to your taste.Portions are generous, and the presentation? On point. Plus, the staff are super friendly and always happy to help out.If you're craving some awesome poke, hit up Oke Poke. Trust me, you won't regret it! ??“
“I really enjoy Flemings as a rule and my last visit there last week was pretty good. The Walnut Creek Flemings is probably the busiest one I've been to. It took a hot minute to get seated and felt a bit too busy but the food was fantastic. Before we were seated, we took advantage of the bar area and the cocktails were spot on. After finally being seated, our waiter was very attentive, fast and well informed. My steak was perfectly cooked and the recommended wine was delicious. Despite it being a bit too busy for my normal tastes, it was a fantastic meal and I would definitely recommend it!“
“One of the best fried chicken in a long time. It looks dry but there's a lot of juice and flavor once you get into it. If it was delivered I don't think it would taste as good. The fried cod was good but not great because it wasn't juicy or buttery soft. The cornbread sides were yummy. The Mac and cheese was cheeeeesy and thick and medium spicy. Collard greens were normal. Green beans were sweet and yummy. Fries were normal fries.I asked for tap water since I didn't want a drink and the server looked surprised (and partly disgusted because I wanted faucet water?) and asked if I wanted bottled water instead. I said sure so we could end the conversation and didn't see the charge on the final receipt. I wasn't sure if the server forgot to add it or bottled water is free. Overall not a complaint but if you want to avoid drink confusion, either don't order water or bring your own lol“
“I was really heartbroken when I moved from SF to Concord because that meant not being able to buy food from my favorite Chinese restaurant. Shan Shan low restaurant was able to glued my heart back together again. The food here is extraordinary. Flavors are always on point. If you are looking for good quality food and good service please check them out!! I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! Si están en busca de comida China con un gran sabor y calidad no duden en venir a Shan Shan restaurant. La comida aquí tiene un excelente sabor. Muy recomendando. :)“
“I recently dined at the Walnut Creek Yacht Club and came away with mixed feelings. On the plus side, the food is always well-prepared, a testament to the kitchen's consistency and skill. The Chelsea Gem oysters were a standout, arriving at the table perfect in every way and setting a high bar for the rest of the meal. However, not all dishes reached this level of excellence. The halibut with citrus butter, while very good, didn't quite live up to expectations, lacking a certain special touch that would make it memorable. Similarly, the clam pasta fell short of the mark. It was quite bland and suffered from an overabundance of butter, overshadowing the clams themselves. In summary, while there are definite highlights like the impeccable Chelsea Gem oysters, some offerings could benefit from a bit more inspiration and balance. The Walnut Creek Yacht Club has the potential for greatness, but a little more attention to the flavor profiles of some dishes would go a long way.3.5 stars.“
“I have had plenty of Thai/Laos food, with some favorites. Therefore, I believe my experiences meet the requirements to post a review. Without any biases, Sue's Kitchen is AMAZING!!! If I had a microphone, yes it would have been dropped. A must try, the Onion Rings and Calamari (yes it's fried, what did you think?). Any time I go to a 'new-to-me' Thai restaurant, I get the Pad Thai and Spicy Basile Chicken. Great dishes to use as a measuring rod. In my loud voice, "OUTSTANDING" !!! This is just the beginning of my journey through Sue's menu. Hope to see you along the way!!!“
“LOVED this place, just wish it was a little bit more affordable and the seating was spaced apart more. We got 3 different types of empanadas and they were all super yummy, don't sleep on the mushroom one it was AMAZING! We ordered a seafood stew, the pork adobo, fries, and 2 cocktails and everything was very good! We don't usually have Peruvian food though so I can't speak to its authenticity but it sure was delicious! My favorite had to be the seafood stew, there was an abundance of seafood and the sauce is just to die for! Definitely a great date night spot! The only reason this is getting a 4 is because our seat was pretty cramped and we there were ppls chair backs pressed right into our table.“
“Great brunch place! The Lama Special is great: two eggs, two pancakes (with butter and maple syrup), bacon and some fruit (price: $15 + taxes). It was very tasty, and the pancakes were especially soft. The food was ready very quickly! Even though the kitchen is open, the place does not smell thickly of food.“
“Definitely has a low key, cousin's house type of vibe. All the staff were cool and friendly but running around. I was just out by myself and luckily got seated at the bar within about 10 minutes. It's restaurant week, so it could've gone either way and they were definitely busy!I got the $45 pre-fixed menu. Forgive the absence of pics, I forgot ?- Dominican Curry Rice Salad: idk what I was expecting, but this was essentially a cold rice dish with a lot of ingredients and a lot of flavor! 9/10- Gallina Guisada: Chef's Kiss ?!! The plantain, the beans, the curried chicken. 10/10- Tres Leches Cake: the cake was very thick, almost like a pudding. It was super tasty but not like the light and fluffy tres leches cake I'm used to 7/10I will be coming back with friends!“
“Very nice upscale place with a casual feel. The food was incredible and the service was nothing short of amazing. They have food and drinks for a range of taste pallets, so should be able to please everyone in the group. If I'm ever in town again I will definitely be returning.“
“I was looking for a new place to have a company dinner and phoned Marica to see if they could accommodate. Thomas answered the phone and made the reservation for 11 people seamlessly. When we arrived, they had set up a nice long table for all of us by the bar, which who doesn't like being close to the bar? Nina and Thomas were so kind and attentive and we got plenty of recommendations including some great bottles of wine. All our food and drink were delicious and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and two of our employees feel special at their relocation party. Can't wait to eat here again. What a gem of a place, with kind people, great wine, and good food.“
“Really great bar food and spot to watch a game. Lots if TVs and friendly staff. We went when they were swamped and had to wait a good while for food, but that was OK because we were in the mood to chill. Wait was worth it. My wife was obsessed with the chicken club sandwich.“
“Actually delicious. We’ve had a lot of sushi in the east bay and this was easily the best takeout - fish was fresh, cuts were generous, and seasoning was interesting and delicious. A little expensive for normal sushi takeout in my opinion but a nice monthly treat! We’ll be back to dine in!Dietary restrictions: Gluten, dairy, egg free“
“This place is a go to, open pretty late good food and nice sized portions. The service is always good and fast. Usual orders are duck noodle soup or chicken pad see ew. Duck soup is never to oily and seasoned well.Pad see ew is flavorful with lots of chicken and veggies, not too sweet or saucy.Parking: Free parking lot in the shopping centerWheelchair accessibility: Accessible and welcome“
“Gypsy's Trattoria Italiana at UC Berkeley is a total win! Always hit them up for their lasagna or Godfather pasta - never disappoints. Fresh, fast, and oh-so-good. Bummed they stopped Uber Eats to my area, but still worth the trip. Also, check out the pool hall across the street. Solid gold!“
“If you really want to have elevated Mexican food and a good drink or drinks. I would not hesitate to come back to Tzunun. I consider this place to be one of the top, if not the top Mexican restaurant in the bay. And that says a lot about me coming from San Diego. Because most Mexican restaurants here are just ok, I mean just OK. Ok, they are not that good. I'm glad I found this one.“
“Super fun lunch with a friend who introduced me to this restaurant in the Ranch 99 complex. We shared the salt and pepper tofu, Sichuan style twice cooked pork bacon, spicy garlic eggplant, crispy noodle chicken and pan fried chive turnover.Everything was super fresh and steaming hot. The tofu fried to perfection and soft & silky inside. We agreed to try item we had never had before and the twice cooked pork bacon and crispy noodle chicken were two of those items. The pork was very flavorful with the perfect heat level, and the crispy noodles under the layer of delicious chicken, mushrooms and fresh Vegis lent the perfect texture. The chive turnover was a fun dish. Our server, and everyone at the was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back. Two things to know, parking can be a challenge as it is a busy area (there are multiple restaurants and shops in the complex, plus Ranch 99) and if you pay in cash, you get a free mini ice cream.“
“My babies dad likes to take me here sometimes for something quick and good ,their fried fish ,shrimp ,and chicken is good very flavorful they’re greens are preening good too especially to be vegetarian they are very flavorful. I’ve had their bean pies and their sweet potato pies. Pretty good as well. Definitely will help you if you’re having a fried food craving.“
“Best Chinese food this side of the island! Daniel has wonderful hospitality & excellent customer service. Now as far as the food? You pick, it's all amazing. My favorites: Hot & sour soup, black pepper spicy beef and the special seafood chow mein! Now there's lots more to try... I'm just starting with the great stuff. If you go on Sunday, be prepared to wait a bit but the service is awesome!GET IT TO GO! Call, order, pickup or have it delivered...It's always been hot and fresh!“
“We wanted a good restaurant close to the Berkeley Playhouse, which had an excellent rendition of Rent, and we were not disappointed with Donato&Co. One of the best things about this restaurant is the wine list – you can get any glass, carafe, or bottle of wine. This is a rarity, especially in the bay area, and it gives you a full spectrum of choices to enjoy. Food was excellent, Including a fantastic black truffle appetizer over a flan like cheese and toasted Parmesan. Pastas were fresh and delicious. Great server who provided excellent recommendations. Highly recommended! “
“Great quality food made with LOVE! Wonderful family business with great service to match. I really enjoyed the salmon sliders.. by far my favorite on the menu. The salmon nuggets are nice and juicy and comes with so much flavor. Definitely recommend trying this place.“
“Since moving to the neighborhood a few years ago, this Chinese restaurant has become our favorite takeout spot. Their fried rice and eggplant fried tofu dish are consistently excellent, keeping us coming back for more. We appreciate the consistently delicious food and reliable service whenever we crave Chinese cuisine!“
“My mom and I were running some errands and we were thinking Chinese Food for dinner. Since new management took over our favorite Chinese Food place downtown, it has not been the same. My mom had been to Bamboo years ago and enjoyed it. This is our new favorite Chinese food place. The service is amazing, the food was fantastic and all in all we both really enjoyed the atmosphere. This will be our place to go. The food is so fresh. The temperature was perfect. My water glass was never empty. Great place.“
“This place gets popping on the weekends! We came for some great Vietnamese food and definitely got that and then some! There was parties of people coming in and the place got very lively! The food here is great, Service was great and the energy was wonderful!“
“Have MERCY the food's amazing here!!!!! I'm a very picky eater however..my friend just walked in the door about an hour ago with food from here. I'd ordered The Cajun Basa with red beans and rice, corn muffin ;and the collard greens. Everything tastes really good..not salty. My new go to spot“
“I like the sizzling rice soup with extra broccoli. Too many good options to recommend off the lunch menu. The lunch includes a cup of hot n sour soup plus a vegan egg roll and rice. The general Tso's chicken tastes a little better when it cools down. I also like the mushu vegetables with tofu instead of eggs.“
“Love that this spot is close by! They have weekday specials from 3pm to close and the most important ones are the fried oysters on Tuesdays and fried calamari on Fridays! My big glass of mango margarita was $10 and a glass of beer was $6! The fried specials from 3pm to close are $15.95 for basket of the fried goods and fries with a soda! Healthy portion sizes too! It's a casual seafood restaurant and really easy to navigate their menu. Nice gentlemen working the register and the food arrives quickly and hot! Definitely worth repeat visits! You would also be so lucky to snag their gift cards at costco for an even better bang for your buck!“
“Decent place for a healthier meal that leans into the fast food genre. The food was tasty although I felt the portions were small. Service was friendly and quick. The atmosphere was very cafeteria like and bare. Definitely a place to go eat and leave, no reason to stick around.“
“Red snapper and party wings were seasoned well. Not salty. This place is well priced and stays busy. Order ahead. You can also order party wings in a box 40-50 wings which is great for a party for about $45. It is the go to in area. Must try.“
“A hidden gem. a must try restaurant. looks sketchy, but once you walk in you're literally dancing to your table with the amazing music playing. customer service makes you feel like family. as for the food there are no words I tried three different dishes they were all amazing! I will Definitely be going back.“
“It's easy to miss this place. But it is worth finding! The portions are large and the prices are super reasonable. It's a little hole in the wall, hidden gem type food. If you saw someone who wasn't a local here I'd be surprised. I had a torta carne asada, and hush puppies. There were so many I shared with a friend and still had left overs. They aren't going to hold your hand to order, and the space is relatively empty. You aren't meant to hang out.Wheelchair accessibility: A nice level entrance and open floor space.“
“Wow. This was really good. I loved dipping my chips in my clam chowder. I ordered a soup and sandwich combo. I got the tuna sandwich. It was good. I forgot to order cheese but it was fine without it. It was nice to find good soup. I would definitely return if I am in the area again soon.“
“This is my all time favorite restaurant. I've been coming to the Casa since I was 21 years old, im 70ish now. Food is always great, never a bad one. Try to get there at lease once a week. The hostess are so wonderful, call you by name. All around the best!“
