Some years earlier, one of the sushi chefs and former student of mine paid for our meal as a surprising and much appreciated gesture of gratitude. Thank you.”

Get to your reservation a little early and enjoy the surrounding historical buildings gathered from around Oxnard into a Heritage Center. Each property has a little description that is quite educational. Or, wait until you’ve enjoyed the great food for that after-dessert stroll. The food was amazing, from Mahi Salad to full steak dinner with excellent merlot. Same a few sips of that red wine to enjoy with their chocolate cake with raspberry, whipped cream & pecan topping. Whew. As you can witness with the photo, the servings are huge. (We took home another full meal - really.)”

The flavors were on point, and we loved that we had plenty of leftovers for several meals afterward. It made our holiday even more special. Thank you, Smokin' Js, for providing such delicious food! My husband ordered a carne asada burrito. We were both very happy with our selection. The season was perfect! This place seems to be a good spot for menudo. By the way corn tortillas are hand made. Oh ! What's a Memela ? It's a thick hand made tortilla with melted cheese and the sauce of your choice. Yes!!! An opened quesadilla! Between a quesadilla and a gordita ! I opted for the green salsa because it's their most mild salsa. But so delicious! Provecho Everyone”

The set up is a little strange, it’s like an abandoned food court that has just them operating out of it, in a small space. However, the dining area was an open with seats for full service. For me this is a pick up and go spot and not made for dining in. With that said the sushi was good and the service was fast. We had the caterpillar roll and the Fisherman’s roll and a beef teriyaki box. The flavors were good and it did taste fresh. The price point was also fair. So for me this is a great spot to pick up from or have delivered.”

I love to spend a great mealtime in the Taproom enjoying hands down some of the best burgers and “pub grub” with the nicest people in the business. Always eager to recommend great seasonal pairings and there is always something fun happening that makes me wish I lived closer to enjoy it more frequently and to bring more family and friends. I go home and Rave about this place! I recommend asking for staff favorites from the bar staff and you will probably get to meet Shawn, the chef, Jamison the owner, or Connor, bar manager.
