“I can't say anything bad about this place... The owner has a good thing going on. The chicken is breaded PERFECTLY and seasoned well. The chicken itself is TENDER and JUICY... I'm so glad I found this spot. Every time I'm in the area I stop by during my work break. Seriously some of the best chicken I've ever had in my life. He hooks me up. He gives a good amount of food. Love this place.“

“I like this place. They have a great wine selection and their charcuterie and small plates are delicious. The Marcona almonds are well flavored/seasoned. The olives are also well-marinated. Their meat board contains delicious selections of cured meats and cheese with some sweet jam. All of these items pair nicely with their Chilean red, which is a reasonably priced and tasty bottle. I've only eaten inside but they have a nice patio in the back. The inside is dim and cozy. This is a great spot for a date night or a night out with friends. It's not cheap by any means, but they deliver solid service, food, and wine. Enjoy!“

“3rd visit - Obsessed! Innovate cuisine and meticulous cocktails at the level everywhere else wishes they could. Negroni - All time fav because the bitter punches hard (sometimes too hard). This is the best I've had! Bitter and sweet balance exquisitely - not brusque. Crispy Potatos - Well done, but makes you wonder if size is right. Close to being a french fry - but large! Crispy outside, soft inside, well seasoned. Mildly curious aioli pair well. Not perfect. Maybe needs another sauce? Seared Hokkaido Scallops - Scared green curry would overpower delicate scallops, but texture remains in tact. Curry pulls out creaminess. Delicate, but flavorful. Warm and clean. Scallion paratha is so necessary to give heavy depth! Cheesecake - Yooo!! Creme Brule is my fav and this is rivaling it! Bright and tart while velvety with deep. Not heavy! You'll regret not getting. Martini - A must every visit! I love olives, but tried lemon this time and loved how big of a difference it made! Excited to try gibson/onion next!“

“I was in a part of town I rarely visit & played "Yelp roulette". I rust type in "highest rated" in current location & see what looks interesting. I'm glad I found CF Food Kitchen. It's a fairly nondescript restaurant with a simple interior in the corner of a small pod mall. It was "Wellington Wednesday". Other items looked great, but I've never had beef Wellington, so I figured, "Why not???". It comes as a three course meal plus warm, perfectly crusty bread. I picked lobster bisque which was very rich, creamy and lobster-forward even without many (any?) lobster bits. I took the desert to-go. The key lime pie was solid. The Wellington was good, not great. The pastry was kind of doughy & the mushroom duxelles was fairly flavorless. Luckily the beef loin and Demi glacé were excellent. Also the dollop of whipped mash was great with the Demi glacé and a few small veggies. The roasted gold beet was small, but the star of the veggies. The server was amazing: warm, welcoming, caring and knowledgeable. I hope I'm back in the area to try other items. They definitely focus more on the food than the ambiance, though.“

“Although I’m writing this review for this location, this is just my review for The Stand as a restaurant overall. That said:This place is great. Their burgers aren’t world class or anything, but they’re a far cry better than any fast food joint not named In N Out (and even then I’m debating if The Stand burgers are better). Fries are crisp, seasoned well, and the entire meal comes in an adorable little tray. The hospitality is also something to take note of. Soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by a TM with, “Hi! Welcome in.” That by itself shows this place treats you not as a customer but as a guest. This is the Mendocino Farms of burger joints in my opinion. Nice sit down place with a number placard. They deliver your food. Everything is a la carte so it will be a tad expensive if you want the full shebang of entree, side, and drink. But for what you’re paying for, the food is for sure worth it and they do ensure guest satisfaction here. No need to bus your table because they’ll do it for you. They even have a sign that literally asks you not to clear off your table and just let a TM handle it. Great music selection. TVs provide something to look at and watch while you wait for your food or eat. A large menu. From steak bowls to salads to sandwiches to burgers with a build your own burger option. Even the desserts are just something to really sink your teeth into. I don’t frequent The Stand a lot but whenever I do, it’s pretty great. Great food for the price you pay, best customer service, and just an overall pleasant vibe. For The Stand in general…Grade: A-“

I had the brussel sprouts, 12-minute cheese biscuit, the filet (with tasty mushroom sauce), and smashed fingerlings. I wasn't wild about the fingerlings, but everything else was SUPER yummy. I also enjoyed the blackberry cocktail, and one of the cabs they had on their wine-by-the-glass menu. My fellow diners enjoyed the deviled eggs (not my thing), the bacon-cheese biscuits, the tagliatelle, short rib, and mushroom flatbread. They also had the strawberry cocktail and the Garland 1972. Everyone really enjoyed their meals, and it was a nice place to catch up with old friends while we ate. “The UC Bahn Mi chicken sandwich & adult grilled cheese 10/10.Both were extremely excellent. Unique in flavor/quality, perfect meal size portioning and competitively priced. 10 out of 10 points for both sandwiches.Urbane Cafe has a excellent variety of healthy food options for all dietary restrictions. This location also had, excellent customer service, a clean/new establishment environment and a polished feel. The sandwiches were still warm 15 minutes later when we got home and the smell of the sandwiches in the car while driving home really stood out to both of us.First I will speak of their new "UC Bahn Mi" sandwich which I ordered for myself. It is extremely unique in it's flavor profile. The portioning was perfect, the amount of sauce on the sandwich was perfect, the sandwich was filling yet felt like a healthy light option.Tastewise, my tongue felt this sandwich was an artful expression of local and exotic world flavors combined perfectly at once.Hands down, I would recommend getting this sandwich over all others if this is your first time coming. Also, all sandwiches come with a quality side salad of spring mix, a couple Mandarin orange pieces, feta cheese sprinkle and balsamic oil and vinaigrette mixed dressing on the side. It's my first time coming here and the food is extremely fresh and the flavor combinations in their sandwiches are spot on. During our visit we purchased two sandwiches so I cannot speak of anything other than that. However, if the food that we got is a good representation of the unique flavor profiles of the rest of their food then I would rate their menu an A+. I give top scores for presentation, flavor profile, unique combinations, freshness, menu options, and customer service. Also, apparently you can get extra sandwich sauce on the side which comes in a pretty large portion cup.We placed a to-go order at the register around 2:30p they are fairly busy & it took about 12 minutes for our food. They bake their sandwich bread inside what looks like a large brick type open oven as a pizza place would do. When you order a sandwich, your bread is pretty much baked to order as you watch. They're able to do this as the sandwiches use a flat bread style. You place your order at the register they give you a number and you can wait anywhere in the cafe where they will bring you your food regardless if it is for here to go.It appeared as though it was the manager who was filling the roll of expediter, inspecting, packing & running completed orders to guests.I have to hand it to the person that was handling this at 2:27pm 3/8/24. This gentleman was extremely friendly, gracious, professional, warm, welcoming & part of why I would come back sooner. Please, pass on to him how noticeable good he is at the things that he does.I left feeling like I had made a good decision to go there and I would like to come back. The guests in this location appeared well put together with a mix of middle and lower classes. My final comment is not one directed to this establishment itself. My only complaint, if you can call it a complaint, is the general cost of eating out. The final bill with two sandwiches, each coming with a small side salad automatically was a competitive $24 which is a tidbit too high for me. The cash register uses a system to ring you where you are automatically asked to accept or deny leaving a tip to which paying customers likely never appreciate. The location seemed steadily busy at 1:30 in the afternoon on a weekday but not so busy where it was uncomfortable or a noticeable wait for food. There is plenty of seating inside and out with umbrellas outside and a fenced-in patio which is across the street from a park. It's very nice location where Inside the establishment I saw a nurse on her computer on her lunch break, families, professionals on lunch breaks and just local people or couples out getting lunch here. The seating arrangement inside is extremely variable from cushioned bench, booth, chair and high barstool style of seating options. The patio is very larg“

I ordered the grits and link with a side of house potatoes. Absolutely delicious. I was more than satisfied with my choice, the servings are huge! I tried some of the French toast. Fire! Everyone liked this place. We really enjoyed our experience here at Jumpin Java. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for good breakfast joint. We will returning soon. Thanks you !!!“

“Honestly this is the best time in town to relax, have a drink and a bite to eat. Everything about this place is class. They make great strong drinks and the food is better than you would expect. Not to mention their happy hour is definitely the best in the area and available from 3-6 m-f. I love their Smash burger and brisket tacos. Their wings and pies are good too. Brian is the best I’m sure you will meet him if you frequent this place like I do. He always makes you feel comfortable and is very friendly and genuine.Great for watching sports even though the vibe isn’t a sports bar. It’s a classy establishment.“

“We had Sunday brunch here, there was no wait time and we were seated immediately. The service was fast, and the brunch was good, The chicken taco was marinated perfectly, the blue jam Benedict was also good, the potatoes on the side was lacking taste, maybe some salt would have added to the taste. The iced coffee seemed very sweet to me. The ginger shots were good.“

“My companion and I ordered the rack of lamb, which came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The lamb was delightfully seasoned and so tender! The mashed potatoes, though a small portion, were delicious, as were the fresh vegetables, broccoli and carrots. For dessert we ordered carrot cake. What a huge portion !! It tasted fresh and quite yummy! Our server was excellent, and kept coming around to see if we needed anything. The place itself is very historic, could use a fresh coat of paint, but the ambience was lovely.“

“I love this place. I didn't do all stars because I think the prices are high! The other reason is specifically the tea I order. The Peach tea. It's made in a type tea press, so the loose tea that's used could be used agin to make another cup of tea. But I think the loose tea is used once, and that's it! It would be nice that either the loose tea is bag and you as a customer can pour hot water over it more than once or give you the press to use while you dine in. That gives value and not wasteful I order the Thai Salad today and the Tempeh was cold and hard and seem less than usual however, the staff are always AMAZING and the food is delicious I would recommend this place over and over again!“

“Was told the kitchen was already closed when we arrived but then a group of 3 that walked in after us was able to order some fries which is what we had wanted. Got an old fashioned and a Diablo. Old fashioned was good and on the stronger side. Karaoke was going on. There were a lot of people but had no trouble getting a seat and it didn't feel crowded. The bartender (I think Mike?) was nice and checked in even though it was busy.“

Scratch|Bar & Kitchen New American
16101 Ventura Blvd #255, Encino - 9.28 miles

“What an incredible experience we had at Scratch Kitchen and Bar in Encino! My wife and I stumbled upon this hidden culinary gem on a weeknight, and little did we know that it would turn our 1-year anniversary into an unforgettable celebration. Initially, we had planned a cozy night in, intending to cook dinner together. However, as the idea of dishes and clean-up loomed, we decided to indulge ourselves and head out for a culinary adventure. With our devices in hand, we embarked on a Yelp research journey, debating between a steakhouse, a French restaurant, or something that encapsulated Modern American cuisine. That's when we discovered Scratch Kitchen and Bar - a name that immediately piqued our interest. With reservations secured through their user-friendly website, we quickly changed into our evening attire and set off. Upon arrival (after a playful bit of searching - like a grown-up scavenger hunt), we were greeted warmly by the staff and seated at the counter. They provided us with a brief overview of their unique concept and left us to ponder our choices. Opting for the Chef's tasting menu, we decided on the middle option. To elevate our dining experience, we brought along a cherished bottle of wine. Scratch had a corkage fee of around $25, which we found reasonable considering the occasion and the chance to enjoy our own selection alongside their culinary creations. The tasting journey began, and each course was a symphony of flavors, textures, and artistic presentations. From the moment the first dish graced our palates, we knew we were in for a treat. The carefully curated selection showcased the chef's mastery in marrying different ingredients to create harmonious compositions. Each bite was a delightful surprise, and we found ourselves savoring every moment and flavor. The staff's knowledge and passion for the menu were evident, as they provided insights into the dishes and engaged us in delightful conversations. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, allowing us to focus on the experience and the company of one another. Our decision to trust Scratch Kitchen and Bar for our anniversary celebration was rewarded tenfold. From the attentive staff to the exquisite Chef's tasting menu, every aspect of our evening was a testament to their dedication to culinary excellence. Scratch Kitchen and Bar is a true treasure in Encino, offering an enchanting dining experience that exceeded our expectations. The combination of innovative cuisine, warm ambiance, and attentive service makes this restaurant a must-visit for anyone seeking an unforgettable culinary journey. We wholeheartedly award Scratch Kitchen and Bar a well-deserved 5-star rating and will undoubtedly return to savor their creations once more.“

It's a good spot for a private party, but for a fun night out this place seemed quiet and empty otherwise. Not a cheap place to buy drinks, especially when charged $7 for Diet Coke, and another $7 for a refill.
