“Fresh sushi with good quality ingredients. I got take out from here, so I can't say much about the service but the packaging of the food was beautiful. The presentation definitely shows the care they put into their food! We got two rolls and the chirashi. The fish tasted very fresh and good quality which is hard to find in Sac. The rolls were very good as well, though I can't say they wowed me. Overall, I think the quality of the fish is great but you are paying for it with the prices.“
“I eat a lot of sushi, and with my second visit in two weeks, this has quickly become a new favorite! Fresh & flavorful fish prepared in unique and traditional ways. Nigiri & Sashimi are amazing high-quality fish NOT typically available at most restaurants. No noisy crowds like Mi***y. It is a Homey connected vibe, unlike K*u. If you like mayonnaise on your fish, go somewhere else. Only light, fresh, unique sauces here. I'll be back!“
“My best friend growing up was Japanese and I'm Italian and Greek, it's always been amazing to share food together. Finding this grocery store brought me back to hanging out at their house together making onigiri and eating coconut jellies.Love this place.“
“There are so many ramen restaurants that disappoint- this is the opposite. The broth is rich and flavorful, the pork is roasted to full flavor and texture, and the egg is suitably soft. Good luck finding better. The Banh Mi is similarly excellent. Origami Grill sticks to a simple menu and gets each item just right. Well done, all around.“
“a quaint market selling a variety of snacks, desserts, & asian household staples! i visited for the first time on saturday, a little after 1PM. there was already a line inside, but it moved by quickly. i got a variety of mochi (Sakura, Pink & White Fukashi, Coffee, Kiku, Green Tea, & Strawberry). they were all amazing - soft, pillowy mochi outside with a not-too-sweet filling. i also purchased a snowcone at the window outside - an extra small mango with condensed milk, about $6-7 (cash only & can only pick one flavor). tall, sweet, & strong! don't expect a soft, shaved ice texture - the ice hardens a bit and, of course, has a "harder," snowcone texture. though it's an hour away from me, i'll definitely make future visits for the mochi!“
“Excellent sushi. The sushi chef had 10 years of experience. You will not be disappointed. The floor is a bit sticky when you walk over it and the outside of the sushi display glass could be cleaned. Tried the Phoenix roll and the Crispy Crab roll.“
“We felt oddly welcomed by chef Hieu and his team. The ambiance was pleasant throughout our 2h stay and continuous chats.Food was not only delicious, but every piece was presented with a certain admiration towards the life of the animal - it was different, and they knew it.To whoever decides to visit: sit at the bar; interact with the fellas preparing your meal. Ask about them, interact with the environment. They did not present food, they presented an experience.Bathroom was impeccably clean and prices were moderate. Totally worthy.Should be given a chance of visiting the capital again, I'll surely stop by for another pleasant experience.Dietary restrictions: The chef accommodated our dietary restrictions, despite the note on the menu. Every item was presented and explained to ensure a tranquil meal“
“A go-to lunch spot for years! Never disappointed when we come here. Staff are super friendly, attentive and accommodating. Especially Elaine, who's the best and our most favorite server. A moderately priced casual Japanese restaurant that serves delicious food. We often go for the lunch bento which comes with soup, salad, California rolls and your choice of two item protein. The sashimi is fresh and good slice portion. We rolled out of there each time full and satisfied.“
“I ordered to go on a Friday, so review is solely on the food. I was looking for fish and chips and was surprised to see Fuji's pop up, so I ordered online. I tried calling, but no one answered. It took about 20 minutes after I put in the order before I got a text stating my order was ready. This place is located next to the target on Riverside. Parking is in the neighborhood next to it or across the street as others have stated. The food was good. I thought it was pricey at $21, but you do get a great amount of food. Enough for 2 meals. I got 3 large pieces of fish that was battered in what was similar to what butterfly shrimp are battered in. It isn't your typical wet batter if that is what you are looking for. The fries or "chips" are well seasoned as well. Since I ordered to go, it did get soggy in the to go container and wasn't as crispy as I would like. But still tasted great. I would order again and do want to try eating in restaurant. Well update if I get the chance.“
“I am legit addicted to this place for so many reasons. First and foremost, the food. It's always fresh and delicious. But, it's not just that - it's about the experience. It's never dull. Never a quite moment at the table where people retreat into themselves. It's the only place my teenager is 100% engaged with everyone at the table. No boring date nights with nothing to say. The 4 stars on service is only because sometimes you have to ask instead of being offered, but hey, it's an AYCE business, so that makes business sense, otherwise the staff is always warm and kind. Atmosphere is just meh, but you will be too busy engaged in whats going on at your table to care.Vegetarian options: Each AYCE comes with ramen, tofu, mushroom, carrot and leafy veg. There are several fish options for pescatarian. too.Kid-friendliness: great for grumpy teensWheelchair accessibility: ramp to restaurant and outside sidewalk seating“
“Mikuni is a sushi lover's paradise! With its creative and flavorful rolls, fresh sashimi, and vibrant atmosphere, every visit is a culinary adventure. The menu offers a wide variety of options to satisfy all tastes, and the skilled chefs always impress with their attention to detail. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or new to Japanese cuisine, Mikuni is a must-visit destination for an unforgettable dining experience.“
“I had the tempura lunch special and and Unagi roll. The staff was incredibly nice. It was my first time in, and seeing the koi pond still there was amazing. The tempura was perfect, with the pumpkin being amazing. The rolls were fun and not too sweet, which made me happy. Probably the best lunch place in midtown.Parking: Limited parking. If you have shopping to do I'd pop by the Natural Foods Co-op and then walk to Koi to pick up a take out order after you shop.“
“The food is delicious. Even the simple meals are packed with great flavor. The miso soup is the best I've ever had. The staff is friendly and quick. Everything is priced very well for portions and flavor. I've been there twice now and both experiences have been exceptional. It is my new favorite spot. Would recommend making a reservation. If you don't and hve to wait it's worth it.“
“Phenomenal food and wonderful service. I appreciate how clean and serene everything was kept. Thank you, my family and I will return.I ordered the Paris sashimi and got quality delicious fish. My husband ordered the bento chicken teriyaki box. He said it was some of the most tender and well prepared chicken he's received in a bento box.Dietary restrictions: Keto diet“
“We’ve been coming here for five years now. This is a nice little gem in Greenhaven that I discovered while living there. Even though we’re now in Natomas, we still come back because of the consistency of the food.We always order the same thing, too: Bento Box w/ Teriyaki Salmon and Sesame Chicken Mixed Tempura, Miso Soup & the Hawaiian Poke Roll. Along with Hot Sake. Everything just hits the spot. We always leave full and content. The Mixed Tempura is some of the best I’ve had (and I know the picture I took wasn’t). It’s always cooked perfectly and is crispy and delicious. Never once has it been soggy. Granted, tempura is not a to go item. It needs to be eaten NOW! I honestly haven’t tried many of their rolls simply because I prefer simplicity over rolls with tons of sauces. The Poke being our exception.I’ll say what knocks a star off is the inconsistent service. This place gets tons of DoorDash orders and they seem to prioritize them. We walk in and there’s literally 15 to go orders and drivers standing around. As a result, you only have like two waiters to greet and wait tables. So I’d recommend going at non-peak hours since the to go orders seem to slow down after 630. My other gripe is the cleanliness of the place. The floorboards near the walls are absolutely filthy. I try not to look, but it’s hard not to notice. I just hope their kitchen looks better. All in all, a really solid place for Japanese food!“
“First time here and the food was amazing. I got the Bay Island Roll and Green Goddess did not disappoint, I actually had a really hard time choosing which roll I wanted to be my last bite. My dad got the Bento Box with Chicken and Salmon Teriyaki with CA roll and was beyond happy. We are leaving here full and happy. Will absolutely be back.“
“Just got done with the gym close by, decided to eat something around the area. This place has a good variety and not that completely unhealthy as you think. So many choices and combos. Great selections. Also great staff that the owner choose to “
“Menu and quality keep getting better.Music is inconsistent—sometimes too loud; sometimes seems designed for lovesick teen girls and out of touch with paying client base…Can be irritating and hard to talk with your dinner companions or even hear yourself think.“
“I will most likely change my star rating next time I go.I got the teriyaki chicken and tempura box.Teriyaki chicken just didnt have enough flavor for me. BUT the tempura was amazing!! The asparagus tempura was so so tummy. But so was the broccoli, shrimp and sweet potatoe!!They were serving the sizzling bibimbab plates that smelt amazing!! Cant wait to go back! Service was friendly and quick! I love how busy they were!! Great local spot “
“I like this place a lot. Quality food, good flavor, kind staff. It’s not a fancy restaurant but I really appreciate its existence. Prices reasonable. Some of the food can take a while but service is good. Haven’t had a bad meal in the ten years I have eaten here. The menu is pretty large. Take out is great, too.“
“When we venture into that area, Akebono is a tried and true place for dinner. The place is much larger than it seems; there is a back room with lots of tables for larger groups -- a VERY big plus for our family. The menu has many options, so everyone is bound to find something to their liking. We've tried a variety of things there -- from bento boxes, to curries, to appetizers, to sushi.... What a large number of choices! Haven't had a dud in the lot. Well... the takayoki was just "eh" but I haven't found any local places that make it like I want. Yes, some dishes are definitely better than others, but this place gets points for consistency. Prices are a bit hefty, but the quality of food and portion size make it WORTH IT! (And that is saying something for frugal me)! LOL It can get crowded here and the waiting line can look quite daunting. We've always had a relatively short wait to get a table as well as getting our food after we order. It's been my experience that the staff usually does a STELLAR job in serving large groups in a timely and helpful manner. It's no minor thing to keep a bunch of hangry sorts happy, you know?! Overall, we give it a thumbs up. I've GOT to remember to take photos of some of the dishes! Every time we go, the food is devoured before I remember that others might like visuals. LOL“
“Went there with my sister for lunch. It wasn’t bad just we asked for a straw multiple times lol finally got one after we were already about to leave. The sushi was good but it kept falling apart when you tried to pick it up with chopsticks .Wasn’t bad but could’ve been better. They had boba there also so that was a plus.“
“Downtown's Japanese culinary haven exceeded all expectations, leaving us with a heartwarming sense of being part of a food-loving family. From the moment we entered, the attentive staff enveloped us in genuine warmth, making each interaction feel like a reunion with old friends. The service was nothing short of phenomenal – every detail executed with care and enthusiasm. The culinary journey unfolded with impeccably fresh sashimi, a testament to the chef's commitment to quality. Each delicate slice melted in our mouths, showcasing a mastery of flavor. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was an absolute delight, an explosion of heavenly tastes that lingered on our palates, urging us to savor every bite. This Japanese gem not only offers excellent food but also creates an atmosphere where passion for culinary artistry and genuine hospitality collide. A must-visit for those seeking an unforgettable dining experience where every dish feels like a symphony of flavors and every guest is embraced like family.Vegetarian options: Stuffed Mushrooms were too die for!!“
“Been coming here for along time. Service can be hit or miss, however was great on this last trip. Food is always good, I usually get your basic white guy sesame chicken / beef teriyaki. My wife get sushi here often and says it's great too. Restaurant is a little gloomy doesn't seem to have a lot of customers on my last few trips, foods great not sure why. That being said I haven't had to wait to be seated here often, I'll be back soon.“
“What a hole in the wall! Parking is very tight and limited though.Waiters routinely check in to refill water. The atmosphere was really relaxing here. There are beautiful images of Japan on the walls. Our party stayed here longer than usual and they were very kind to allow our conversation to continue. We don’t feel rushed to leave, even after we paid.“
“Love this place, from the service to the food and always music on for an upbeat vibe I have not had a bad meal here. The sushi is always fresh and prepared perfectly, the soups and specials are on point and plates like the shortrib dinner do not disappoint at all.“
“We ordered 45 minutes before they closed, and my husband promptly fell asleep. He arrived 5 minutes before they closed, and the food was still so hot I had to wait for it to cool off. A ton of food for the price, I got Udon and he got chicken curry. Very delicious stuff, super friendly staff.“
“This is my second visit as my first I had placed an order- paid for it, was told to come back in an hour or they would call me. They never called & when I came to pick up they said my order never got transferred to the kitchen. Another 35 mins of waiting for the food that was already paid for. Someone apologized & said to ask for her when I returned for a discount ,that may have been almost a year ago. Decided to try again and came in on a Friday to place an order to go. It did not appear there was a dedicated person to greet, seat, or take care of phone/ to-go orders. I was told my order would be ready in an hour. Ordered a Bob Marley ($14) Big Papa ($17)& a Cali Roll ($9.50) there was also a $1 up charge for ordering to go. Food was great. I've enjoyed their other location on EGF & so was happy to see they were closer to home. Inside is small but definitely a bigger space than EGF. It gets busy in here y'all! Plan on waiting when dining during peak hours & delayed service. In this current visit there was only two women running the floor. Returned after an hour to pick up my order and was told it wasn't ready - waited another 20 mins. Again, the food is delicious and size portion was excellent but I have to remember not to be super hungry when I decide to come back. Staff seemed nice, but it was so busy the hospitality aspect was lacking.“
“My coworkers and I were so excited that Mikuni opened down the street from our office! It's a great location for all those working near by. We came in during lunch on a weekday and were quickly seated, however the restaurant is much smaller than I expected so I can imagine the waits can get long. The service was fairly quick. Our meal was served within 15 minutes of ordering - which was great for our hour lunch! The tempera green beans were delish and our rolls were tasty too. I haven't been to mikuni in awhile, but I noticed that they revamped their menus and they're much nicer. They also clearly lay out their lunch specials and happy hour offerings. We can't wait to be back for happy hour really soon!“
“Our go to sushi place and no one makes the stuffed jalapeños like they do. Can't get enough of Arigato's.Love the nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls and deep fried rolls. The baked salmon roll (lion?) is to die for, baked green mussels, best tasting miso around. If your feeling frisky get a sake bomb and my personal choice for beer is Asahi. Love the hot tea and spicy edamame too!If you prefer cooked foods they have all kinds of bento type dinners as well, anything in tempura you'll never be sorry.Been a huge fan and customer many years but this is my first review!Arigato's is affordable and the taste is high end. Expect to be deliciously happy!“
“Always a great experience! Whether it's just me and my husband or the whole family, we always enjoy our meal at Oshima Sushi. Nice bar and dining areas. Love the music and sports atmosphere. Great food! We love the sushi boat options, sushi rolls, fresh oysters, and drinks. Good service too! Nice birthday dessert!!!“
“Always great service and great food. Q is hilarious. I love all the vegan options, especially the vegan roll. I love their miso soup with the tiny mushrooms.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian/vegan options include miso soup, vegan roll, edamame, a few salads, and more!“
“I went in just as they were opening. I received a friendly welcome. I ordered Sesame chicken which came with rice and salad. Everything was very tasty. The spot is nicely decorated, clean and designed to make ordering easy. Parking can be a challenge as it is a small strip of businesses. It looks as though most of their business is carry out. I will be going back to try other dishes.“
“My first time there, it's a cozy comfort food dine in OT take out sushimi/k-BBQ style foods and great service from the gate. It's definitely more of a noon, dinner and nightly ears place. It's pretty reasonable prices for some trendy Asian combo platter.“
“From my order Sushi rolls and pieces by themselves all came out in a timely manner and tasted clean/fresh. Service was exceptional. Hibachi steak and Short Ribs were pretty incredible. Also the 15% surge charge for wasted food only applies to RAW FISH ITEMS ONLY!!!!! Other than that it's a good time with good food.“
“Forgot to take photos of the food but definitely recommend for everyone and anyone to try this place even just once! Sushi was fresh and delicious. Service was great and fast too. We went on a weekend and it wasn't too busy. Our favorites are the Dragon Roll, Lion King Roll, 49er, Azukar Roll, Volcano Roll, and the Midtown Roll. Try their Hamachi Nigiri Sushi as well! Come hungry, leave happy ?“
“Finally had a chance to eat at Miyagi Bar and Sushi. It was spectacular, let me tell you about it! Dropped in around 7:30pm with my lady. We were quickly seated at a table. The decor consisted of colorful paintings and soft lighting. The restaurant was full of people, families and couples alike. We were seated near the sushi bar which was away from the alcohol bar which had a lively crowd. There were TV's all over the place which had the sports games on. There were plenty of waiters and waitresses who were attentive and really nice and showed us around the menu. We chose to start off with stuffed mushrooms and gyoza. While I've had better gyoza I won't lie and say we didn't finish it all, lol. The real highlight of our entire meal was the crab stuffed mushrooms. My lady said they tasted like heaven and she wasn't exaggerating! The crab was so tasty, the sauce that topped these had a small kick to it and added to the overall flavor without overpowering it. Each bite had a perfect crunch thanks to the breading followed by the soft fresh mushrooms. I can tell you now we will be back solely for these. The main course arrived some time after completing our appetizers. Food service here was a bit slowed but it was expected since the restaurant was nearly at capacity. The quality of the food kept us patient. We split the crunchy roll and also the katsu chicken dinner. Both were amazing and although we loved it we kept saying how silly it was we waited so long to finally try Miyagi given how long it's been around and how amazing all the dishes were lol. I absolutely loved the crunchiness of the panko breading on the juicy katsu chicken and the sauce paired really well with the meat. The broccoli tossed with the onions brought out a nice flavor we weren't used to considering broccoli is one of our favorite sides at home. The crunchy roll was huge! The fried shrimp was so tasty. I would order it again but I'm also excited to try more rolls such as the Drake and the Torch roll recommended to us by our waiter. The menu here is deep and diverse, I definitely see more visits in the future. They also mentioned they show all the Sacramento King's games on their TV's! I love that.“
“I had the best time at Oishii with my friends for her 35th birthday. The service was top tier and the sushi was all the buzz. We ordered the pink lady roll ? the salmon dynamite roll deep fried after our server suggested it and it was delicious but if you like a little spice with a bit of torch definitely order the scorpion roll. 10/10 recommend and we will be coming back for a holiday party in two weeks!!“
“These Thai chili basil wings pack a punch of flavor that's sure to please any spice lover. The perfect balance of heat from the chili and fragrant basil creates a mouthwatering experience. Each bite bursts with deliciousness, leaving you craving more. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tasty and slightly spicy treat!“
“Once again stepped out for my daughter’ss 28Th birthday and the service at this place is incredible!! Our server never made us wait was very helpful knowledgeable and gave great recommendations for our dining options. The atmosphere was amazing drinks and food was delicious ?“
